Should you clean your esm files (fallout4.esm files and such)?
exlandia replied to Akulakha's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Cleaning the Nuka World DLC made my game crash trying to go into the market and where the Pack headquarters is. If I didn't clean the DLC I had no problems... -
Skyrim is a beautiful game with wonderful music and atmosphere. It was made with passion by early days Bethesda, FO4 is nice too, but it seems Bethesda just doesn't have that passion anymore and are just turning out hyped and mediocre games these days. When it was all new and Todd said he's going to make the best games in the world, there was passion...

I always had crashes at Bunker Hill after building up the settlement as well. The game wouldn't crash in build mode, but after exiting build mod and looking north for some reason, the game would crash within a few minutes. Leaving Bunker Hill and returning, the game would crash again after a few minutes. This mod by VilanceD fixed the crashes at Bunker Hill for me: Bunker Hill Deep Clean and Remodel https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/65014?tab=description I've not had any crashes with this mod installed.

Should Settlement Building stay for Fallout 5?
exlandia replied to POETICDRINK2U's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I really enjoy settlement building, so yes. However, in FO4, there are a lot of limitations. I use an unlimited budget mod, so I can build a fantastic settlement with every conceivable artifact from mods, but the settlers pay no attention. You can build a shack and throw down some sleeping bags, and it makes no difference to the NPCs. Whether you build a huge future-esqe settlement or some shacks, it makes no difference to them as long as they have enough amenities and a few turrets. Also, a large settlement with a lot of NPCs makes the settlement not function well; NPCs will just stand around doing nothing, in my experience. It's frustrating to build something that may take hours only to have NPCs just standing around like they're sleepwalking. In the vanilla game, you have a budget limit, yet BGS gives you some large locations like Starlight, but you can only build a few shacks, and before you know it, you've reached the budget limit. So Fallout 5 should have a much better and more powerful game engine that could handle a medieval castle and lots of maidens and knights. -
LarannKiar, are you a Bethesda dev? You sure know your stuff about this game, wow...

You could try the "2029 Radio- Pipboy Custom Radio" mod, which also has a buildable radio for settlements. You can add your own tracks, even 100 tracks, and the radio will play them in your settlements and/or on your Pip Boy. It's a a fantastic mod There aren't any copyright issues because the music you use is for private use and nothing is being uploaded. Just be sure to read the instructions thoroughly. This adds a custom radio to the game that allows you to add your own music. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28666

First Person vs. Third Person.....A perspective on Perspectives.
exlandia replied to edgeburner's topic in PC Gaming
I like to have switchable first and third person perspectives like in Fallout 4. All those hair and clothing mods on Nexus for the main avatar. It's nice to see the outfits, which I adapted in Bodyslide and OutfitStudio and also seeing the animated ponytail hair mod in third person. Then there's taking wide angle 3rd person screenshots with my followers in the scene looking at a finished settlement. I can't play any games with only a first person perspective anymore. -
I played all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games way back, they were great fun and took a long time to finish. Now I'm playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim with mods, especially Fallout 4, a 350 modded Fallout 4 is amazing. These games have switchable first and third person perspectives which I love. Now I can't play any game which doesn't have a third person point of view anymore, like STALKER, I keep trying to switch to third person out of habit, but can't in those games.

How to rollback AE so that Vortex recognizes the change
exlandia replied to FeycatG's topic in Vortex Support
Hey, I installed a Skyrim collection, but couldn't start the game with SKSE. I found this on Reddit and it worked for me... From ContraBiscuits on Reddit: Skyrim updated to 1.6.629 SKSE won't launch the game right now. Anyone that wants to downgrade back to AE from a few hours ago (1.6.353): First type this into your web browser: steam://nav/console Then allow it to open steam client bootstrapper. Once the console window appears, type: download_depot 489830 489833 4570833277049890269 Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_489830\depot_489833" (1 files, manifest 4570833277049890269) Check the console for the location of the newly downloaded skyrimse.exe version 1.6.353. Then simply replace the exe in your game files with this one. Don't know how well this will work but the game is at least launching for me so... -
Microsoft .NET - Check Failed (Vortex 1.6.7)

Yes, it was already installed, but needed to be updated to the latest version. -
Microsoft .NET - Check Failed (Vortex 1.6.7)
exlandia replied to abysswalkersoul's topic in Vortex Support
The problem for me has been resolved thanks to a Microsoft tech chat. I needed the VC_redist.x64 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 -
Microsoft .NET - Check Failed (Vortex 1.6.7)
exlandia replied to abysswalkersoul's topic in Vortex Support
Luckily I have a full backup of my system with an earlier version of Vortex on it. If this doesn't get fixed somehow soon, it'll mean hours of Fallout 4 game time lost. -
Microsoft .NET - Check Failed (Vortex 1.6.7)
exlandia replied to abysswalkersoul's topic in Vortex Support
Hi tcutchi, Vortex runs, then tries to install dotnet, then it says it failed, and the only option is to quit Vortex or rerun the dotnet. The Program Files location is on the C drive in Steam. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/images/242598 -
Microsoft .NET - Check Failed (Vortex 1.6.7)
exlandia replied to abysswalkersoul's topic in Vortex Support
Please don't assume all users of Vortex have a degree in computer science. I can't figure out all those technical details and why Vortex has stopped working all of a sudden. After trying the dotnet update all I can do is exit Vortex. I'm unable to access sandboxing or whatever, Vortex won't run without that dotnet.
