All I did was deactivate the official hi-res DLC. Like most I run more mods than is sensible, including a lot of hi-res texture packs and compilations including the official hi-res DLC. I once read a guide on making your Skyrim look better which stated there was no reason not to have the hi-res DLC, as well as all your other texture mods. I believed this thinking it may aswell be there and activated as a catch-all incase any of my texture packs miss a texture then at least I'll get the official high res version rather than vanilla, and as the textures will not be used it will not put any additional strain on my system right? After a while in Skyrim I'd start getting random CTDs that could not be pinned down to any specific mod. I could play for 5-20 minutes before a random CTD in a different place, doing different things each time, and would often see black textures. I put this down to save game corruption, orphaned scripts, engine limitations, badly made mods etc. Sound familiar? I spent many hours, days, and new games trying to make Skyrim more stable with little success until reciently when I thought to try deactivating the official hi-res DLC plugins, and all my problems vanished. I have never had a single crash since and still run a silly amount of graphics and overhaul mods with no issues at all. Even though none of the DLC packs were actually shown in-game, I'm guessing they were still loaded and putting a large strain on the engine. Thought I'd share this because in all my forum searching I did not see this suggested once. TLDR: If you use texture mods de-activate the official high-res DLC!

I can only suggest changing the character in the CK rather than the console. If you do find a solution or mod it yourself please post back. I too would prefer a female bard for Lakeview Manor. Using your method doesn't "she" still have a creepy male voice?

Thanks for the links evilsage. I was aware of paper map mods as I tried them long ago but abandoned the idea as they turned all mountains yellow. Decided to give them another go now as you linked them and they work perfectly, I especially like Warburgs has the option to disable the player marker.

Skyrim Redone includes a low level illusion spell call "Insight" which does what you ask. There are also perks that increase the amount of information given. Don't know if there's a stand alone version if you don't want all of Skyrim Redone though. Follower mods like Ultimate Follower Overhaul also allow you to ask followers what their skills are. Only followers though. Is anyone aware of any mods that alter the way the map works without removing it completely? I find having GPS in the world of Skyrim really immersion breaking, but no map at all would make it impossible to find quest objectives, even with Better Quest Objectives. At the moment, I'm role playing only using maps in towns. Getting completely lost in the wilderness (with compass also disabled ofc) and having to rely on the road signs is actually a lot of fun. Especially with darker nights.

Load an older save before you had the save CTD problem, save the game as a new save, open the console and type "player.kill", after respawning load you latest save with the CTD issue, again type "player.kill", save and continue playing. This seems to solve this issue in most cases, but be warned the problem is likley to keep reoccuring if you continue with that character.

All races? If you use any other race changing mods such as Ethereal Elven Overhaul you may need to download a compatibility patch.

Removed Mod that Alters NPC Clothes, Now NPCs in Underwear
EmhyrTyl replied to EmhyrTyl's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
What I am looking for is a way to resolve the issue via console command or script while in game. There must be a way to do this or mods that change npc equipment would never work without starting a new game. -
Removed Mod that Alters NPC Clothes, Now NPCs in Underwear
EmhyrTyl replied to EmhyrTyl's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's not a game file or mod issue. It's the save file itself. Reinstalling the game from scratch and playing with no mods still has the same problem. -
I had a mod installed that altered the clothing of NPCs, which I've used since the start, so no saves before installing the mod available. I've now decided to uninstall this mod and now all affected NPCs no longer wear any clothes what so ever. 'showinventory' shows they have the clothes on them but do not wear them. 'equipitem' or 'resurrect' fixes the problem for a specific npc for the time being, but I have to do this for every NPC every time I see them. Removing all running scripts from the save does not make a difference. I obviously do not have the problem if I start a new game. Is there a way to get the game to "refresh" all npcs in the game and what they have equipped or another way to fix this without starting again?

Are there any good voice acted mage companions? I believe Vilja develops some magic but it's difficult to RP an evil character with her in tow, so prefrably looking for one who's neutral/evil, but will look into any that exist.

Looking for a mod that prevents player death as an alternative to loading a saved game when you lose a fight. Preferably with harsh penalties such as losing all your gear. SM Essential Player attempts this but I don't like the idea of turning into a ghost which is a bit of an immersion killer for me.

Actually Vaults of Cyrodil my be what you are looking for.

Not something I've come across myself. Daily Income Revised may add more gold to the counts inventory for you to pickpocket but I'm not sure.

Looking for a mod that will allow me to hire guards or companions. I don't want any that are free. Anything with a recurring payment would be great, but a one off payment will do if not.

I'm looking to start a new game as a merchant character and try to avoid combat entirely. I'm compiling a mod list that will try to enhance this style of play. I'm still looking for ideas and feedback before I start my game, so I've not tested most of these mods yet so it's entirely possible some of them are pants. Here's what I have so far: Early game jobs Immersive Woodcutting - earn money by being a lumberjack Goranga restaurant job - work at a restaurant CLS-Craftybits V08 BETA - Oblivion crafting system Random Tasks - randomly generated collection quests Gold Horse Courier - get a job as a courier Player Fishing Mod - fish! Complete Gardening - allows the player to cultivate a garden Graverobber BETA1 - rob graves for a living Ashs Odd Jobs II - available jobs in the Imperial City Later game investments Bank of Cyrodiil - bank your gold to earn interest SoTs The Order Of Nibenay] - run a guild, purchase upgrades, earn income Brew House - buy a farm and farm plants and animals Mining Company - purchase mines, hire miners Tamriel Resource Exchange - buy and sell shares on the stock market Ls Rentable Player Homes - buy vanilla oblivion houses and rent them out for a steady profit Goranga traveling merchant - buy stock and sell to npcs at higher prices Big Business - acquire an estate, purchase upgrades and hire workers Pats Business Mod Shopkeeper - own a store in Chorrol, purchase new stock and hire staff Imperial Bank of Cyrodiil - own several homes, businesses, take out loans, and earn interest Player Homes Valley View Estate - manor with vineyard that can produce wine and brandies Shadowcrest Vineyard and Shadowcrest Vineyard COBL - estate that can produce wine Aleswell Cottage ver 4 - cottage with crafting facilities Millstone Farm And Millstone Farm COBL - farm with crafting facilities Red Rose Manor ver 2_2 - Manor with crafting facilities Companions Companion Vilja - has avoid combat mode Mercenary Svenja - fighter which costs a set wage every 5 days Companions for Hire 02 - Athgar - companion that costs 200 gold every 4 days Packdonkeys ver 2 1 - donkeys to move inventory between locations Gameplay Oblivion -Elys- NoFastTravel - disables fast travel Persuasion Overhaul OBSE - more immersive persuasion system I'm looking for any feedback on the mentioned mods or this style of gameplay, as well as other suggestions for mods which may compliment this style. I like to see some more hire-able guards/mercenaries in order for the PC to avoid combat while traveling, but free companions seem too easy. As always, more things to spend money on is always a good thing, and any additional non-combat quests would be welcome too.

Better Followers? I remember seeing a mod a while back that said it added more secret entrances and exits to cities. I never thought I'd need it but now my vampire is not so popular... I can't find it anywhere.
-
The Bats ability of the vampire lord is awesome. Is there a way to add it to your spells as a normal vampire via console? I can't find a ID for it anywhere and get a ctd if I try and open Dawnguard in the CK.

Thanks San. I tried the Apachii Wigs and those dreads are clearly designed with females in mind. They are all the same length and tied back in a very feminine way so I'm sticking with ugly vanilla hair for now. I'm not aware of any mods that change the colour of the sunset ether. I'm pretty sure their supposed to be pink in All Natural.

I'm looking for a mod that adds some bad-ass man-hair. Proper dreads preferably but anything long and manly will do. Most of the hair mods that add male hair seem to be 'beauty' mods and the hair is all glossy and emo/anime style and looks kind of pansy. Suggestions appreciated.
