Well, you can easily turn your .esp file to an .esm file by downloading TESVSnip and following the instructions on this page: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Adding_a_Merchant_NPC_to_Skyrim#Fix_the_NPC_face_colour Follow the first step under "Fix the NPC face color" (Also is good info on fixing the NPC face color glitch, ha ha). After you have your .esm file, though, you cannot edit it. You can save it as a plugin, but all the .esm files you have checked in CK will be linked to that plugin and you won't be able to open it without them. So if you take MyMod.esm and save a plugin using it, then you turn MyMod.esp into MyMod.esm using the above method then CK will think it needs MyMod.esm to open MyMod.esm which will cause CK's brain to implode and it will refuse to even start. Hope this helps you.
