New Vegas Nexus: Problem downloading files
Dragonmourne replied to jazzisparis's topic in Site Support
Story of my life man. Same thing happened to me when I wanted to play FO3 with mods. Happened twice actually. Odd how everytime I want to play FO, the server crashes coincide, lol! -
New Vegas Nexus: Problem downloading files
Dragonmourne replied to jazzisparis's topic in Site Support
Well that makes much more sense why some folks can download and others cannot. -
Have you checked to make sure you are logged in? People have been reporting wierd login problems, so it could be related to that. Did you get banned? Apparently Mods are now perma-banning for first offenses, or at least banning people for longer than 7 days, from chat for minor offenses with little or no warning. It could be either.

New Vegas Nexus: Problem downloading files

That doesn't really explain why Premium servers are up and free servers are down, unless the logIn issue is separate based on Premium/Free account designation, which seems odd. Seems like if it were a global login issue, it would affect everyone, not just Free Access members. Also, I haven't had any issues logging in, and have been logged in since yesterday, when the servers were up and running. My NMM was working fine (after I had to uninstall and downgrade to the previous stable version because of null value errors when switching to FONV mods) as well. -
Rolling down-time this coming week on all sites
Dragonmourne replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1050838-cluster-move-complete-a-few-bugs-to-fix/ Perhaps a bit more looking? All the sites are working like a charm for me today so perhaps more information would also be helpful? It's Fallout NV. It's ALWAYS Fallout NV. It's hardly ever anything else BUT Fallout NV. Sometimes it's Fallout 3, but only when I am redoing my mod cache, which is maybe once time a year. Can't download anything from FONV site, even though I was downloading stuff like crazy last night. And yes I read that post by Robin, but it doesn't address the page loading errors, missing html, or crashed file servers. -

Some sort of update on this sure would be nice, considering everything was working fine yesterday and last night, and now everything is borked and broken today. All I'm saying is it would be great if we could get updates on these things instead of having to wait 10 days for a vague post-update. I get that folks are busy and what-not, but it literally takes less than 2 minutes to type out a quick community heads-up or announcement about impending downtime, server crashes, known issues, etc. You can even do it while you're on the toilet from your iPhone. It's been 10 days since the transfer started. We haven't heard jack from anyone on anything besides "We know of the issues" but not really anything else. What gives? -
and this continuing to argue about this on here, does nothing to help your case. I believe I'm starting to see the meaning of what you folks are saying. Let me see if i understand: The Moderators here on Nexus are beyond reproach, do no wrong, never unjustly ban anyone, shall never be questioned, their opinions are dogmatic, and any decision by any mod or Admin is always parallel with truth, justice, and the American/U.K. Way. In other words, when Nexus staff treat someone like crap, it's alright because they are covered by the above TOS blanket clause. Fine. I'll shut my mouth. I enjoy modding my games too much to actually jeopardize my account privileges. Still, this doesn't make what's going on here right, and will deter people from posting anything constructive (especially me) in the future because we can never tell when a moderating staff member is having a bad day and is feeling a little ban-happy. I feel like I have to watch my back now on Nexus, since I guess I painted a big red bullseye on my back by bringing this up. Thanks for the paranoia.

I did own up to my "mistake". Let me spell it out for you: I'm sorry I commented on an unflattering topic in chat. What was said STILL didn't warrant the public posting, or the disrespect by Micolav, or the banning.
-
There wasn't TIME for any sort of argument, nor did I even get time to finish my response. "lol" was already in my chat box after the page was refreshing, and while I was typing a response to his initial kick, I was banned. You must have missed the part where I didn't actually break any of the listed rules. The chat log is there. The rules are there. No rules were broken based on that chat log. Will I apologize for my initial comment and subject matter? Absolutely. Does this chat log take what was being said out of context? Yes it does. There was no "warning" given. There was attitude and a general sense of superiority by Micalov, which can be seen clear as day. As I said above, the attitude here is all one sided. If you're going to defend this sort of behaviour by the staff, at least have a valid argument other than "Look what was said by someone else that doesn't pertain to your situation!".

I modded too close to the sun
Dragonmourne replied to TheMVB's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Is the red "polygon" a giant red triangle with an error icon in the middle? Which wouldn't be right since that usually only pertains to objects... In any case, have you used Archiveinvalidation? Did you check to make sure that the meshes and textures are placed in the right folders? Sometimes even uninstalling mods doesn't catch everything, and junk files (textures/meshes/.esm.esp files) sometimes get left over. You may have to uninstall and delete the root folders completely, then do a clean re-installation. I also find that sometimes verifying cache through Steam fixes missing files from vanilla. -
Where exactly do you see curse words? Not one single one anywhere in that text. How the heck can you construe "LOL" as having an attitude? If you were banning unrelated topics, then practically everyone in that chat should have been banned. It's a bunch of people engaging in small-talk while at work. Also the "LOL" was not directed at your statement upon my returning, it was at being kicked for a minor comment, AND I assumed you were joking. My mistake for assuming anything about you. I'd also like to point out, does Robin actually allow you people to name and shame members on the forums like you have done to me? This is completely disrespectful. If you have a personal issue with me, you should have sent this in a private message. I didn't name you in any comment, and this is blatant disregard for me personally. A little common courtesy and giving me an opportunity to respond or apologize for the subject matter before banning me would have been nice, and would have avoided the whole situation. The ONLY person here with any sort of attitude is Micalov. Chat is a minor thing to me. I can do without. It's how you portrayed yourself and the Nexus administration here today that bothers me so much. Edit: After a quick run-through of all the Forum/Chat rules, it seems to me that no actual rule was broken, and I was subjected to your own "personal discretion" which directly translates to "kick whoever I feel like for whatever reason I feel like". Also, I didn't see any rules on "Naming and Shaming" or "Humiliating Members Publicly" so I can only assume based on this information that this behaviour is allowed or even celebrated by the staff and/or members of Nexus. Oddly enough, anywhere else in the universe, on any other forum or chat site on the internet, if moderating staff behaved like this, calling out another member publicly, their own account would suffer severe consequences for such personal disrespect, and you would be out of a job. I guess it's lucky for you then that Nexus staff don't practice what they preach or hold their own staff accountable for their actions and interactions with members?

My issue isn't that I didn't read the rules, or I actually broke any of the rules. My issue is with the instant banning of people for minor things or things that really aren't against the TOS at all. When a user sees moderators use the "kick" feature in chat consistently in a joking manner, it leads credence to the fact that the moderators kick folks willy-nilly just for laughs. What response should being kicked warrant other than "lol", especially when no initial reason is given? How is a user supposed to react when they type out something that isn't ban-worthy, but then gets banned and told that the text was "NSFW"? Methinks some of the moderators here don't know what "NSFW" means. I didn't realize that Nexus = The Wild West, where the law is of the gun, and the police shoot first, don't ask questions, and leave the bodies in the street to rot and make a spectacle of. I've been around for a few years now, and was strongly considering bumping up to premium with the amount that I've been using the sites recently, however, the reputation that is being built here is a turn off to opening my wallet...

You're assuming that the Nexus databases are on separate servers (ie. Skyrim database server is separate from Fallout 3 Database server), which makes absolutely no sense from a business standpoint, as it is not cost efficient. It's not just as simple as moving data from one hard drive to another. My wife is a programmer and deals with this sort of thing all the time. Chances are, Nexus Database is one server, and Ship Logging is not enabled, otherwise we could write/read to the existing database while the existing database structure is transferred over to a new infrastructure. In order for the database to not un-sync between transfer points, writing to the database is disabled for users, however READING from the database should not be disabled, but it seems the Nexus folks have deemed it necessary for no actual reason at all.
