In response to post #43635285.The special edition's engine is 64-bit. This means the 4GB memory limit that caused hard crashes on the original skyrim is nonexistent now, there is no limit to system resources useable by the game. It is FAR more stable. The game now uses Directx11 as well which means more advanced effects with less performance impact.wtfbruhh wrote:
Whats so special about the Sp edition? its Graphics isn't it cant you just mod the original game to make it HD
Essentially, it's a huge upgrade for modding. The added visual fidelity and general game stability is nice for anyone who plays without mods though as the vanilla game does look quite nice now. -

I know 'hur dur modders are better at video game development than bethesda' is a cool joke to be in on but they don't just sit around with their thumbs up their asses. Beta patch is a beta patch and you have no idea what state this guy's installation is in. Considering nobody else seems to have the same problem i'm betting it's on his end.Ethreon wrote:

Looking good!! Glad to see that they are listening to feedback.

GODS BE PRAISED! I made some ini tweaks, am now using sheson's integrated patch in the skse alpha and removed frostfall (dat papyrus lag). Set my speedmult to 300 and zipped over to whiterun, with only slight stutter but it felt much smoother and more stable, and the game still looks snazzy. Victory is mine. Thanks to everyone who offered input :)
-
Huh. I don't know what to say, then. But anyway, i think i have done most of what i can to improve stability. I have optimized textures, tried for a light setup and use several performance increasing utilities including enboost and the sheson patch that is a part of skse's current alpha build. I would ask one more thing of you guys though. To take a peek at my ini's. I know every page for every mod and everyone with any sense tells you ini's are important and stray edits will be the death of your game. I was told by someone to change my grass density value in fact and it helped performance a good bit. Was wondering if there's anything else i overlooked.

I've got everything installed and am getting a fluctuation between fourty and sixty fps when out in the wilderness. It seems stable-r. Suppose i can live with it.

"Skyrim immersive creatures" This 1 gave me nothing but troubles.
Can you explain? It says the creatures added use short, non-frequent scripts just like some vanilla enemies do.
It constantly caused CTD's, gave me skating monsters or monsters stuck in the "T" position. Certain areas on the map became instant CTD.
Are you sure it caused CTD's..? It honestly seems light-weight. The mod author says that skating effect is unfortunately a side-effect of installing into an ongoing save, and as far as my experience actors stuck in the T position can be solved by running FNIS. The mod author recommends letting cells restore to fix the skating issue.

Do you guys figure this should be a pretty stable setup? I used to have a lot more script mods, this time i only use footprints/frostfall/CoT(if it does that). No amidianborn, any retexes are from STEP core and are 1024 or lower. high res dlc optimized as well. Really hoping this works out.
-
The problem might be your GPU which I think has a 196 bit bus. From what I have read it can only use 1.5gb of vram at full speed. The remaining 512mb works quite slowly.
Keep the texture mods to a minimum as you are doing and try limiting your max FPS to 30 or 40. This gives the game a chance to do all the other things and should stabilise the frame rate and help a bit with stutter.
Yes thank you. :) It's starting to seem that my performance issues were due to script-running mods. I will cut down on those and hopefully the game will be stable.
-
Hello guys. I want to ask you how i can get my skyrim stable. I promise you i've uninstalled, reinstalled and tried many different mod configs. It seems like i always get frame drops that cause stutter and jerkiness. I've used the triple buffering and i use enboost and project optimization etc etc. I've used optimizer textures program. I'm starting to think it's a hardware problem. here is my setup
GPU: GTX 660 2GB VRAM
CPU: i7 - 2600K @ 3.40GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Am i mistaken in thinking this should be formidable for running skyrim? I will try using what i want from the STEP guide, and then from skyrim GEMS but no heavy texture mods. But i really don't think that's the issue here. I usually get 60 fps when i'm just standing around, but it can dip to 10 randomly and very often causes micro-stutters by dropping to fourty momentarily. Any ideas?
-
-
Piriform Defraggler is showing a lot of skyrim related files as fragmented
Maybe that's the reason? Either way, i'll try defragging then playing with razer game booster. If that doesn't work i'll clean everything out and start fresh, try to maybe get less mods and install them correctly.
-
I tired fast travelling to whiterun and manually saving, but it still crashes. Do I have to run to another place?
That's what i did. I would crash every time i was near that dragon bridge and trying to save, without fail. I went down the path a ways and it functioned just fine. However i'm sure there can be many causes for something like this. What i have done before is disable all my mods and re-enable them trying to save each time, to find what may be the cause. Though that's a little impractical considering how big some people's mod lists are (including mine)
-
Piracy isn't supported here. You must buy the game in order to get support on Nexus.
Aha, oops. I didn't know skyrim was only available on steam.
In that case, you're probably going to have tons of problems using mods.
I don't know for sure, but if the official skyrim .exe is modified, skse probably wouldn't work regardless.
Steam is required for authentication, ALWAYS. Getting it via Steam or in stores makes no difference, the game only installs when Steam authenticates it and then installs it the Steam directory. There is no importing into the Steam directory, Steam does that for you. If one does have need to import any Steam-enabled game into the Steam directory manually, it's pirated.
I don't think he means he cracked steam to make it think it's a legit product or anything. Steam needs a valid key for that, and a pirated game would need a pirated client, which is sort of pointless. I think he meant the "add a non steam game" option, which lets you just pick any executable and put it in the steam library for ease of access i guess.

I've had this happen before. Just go somewhere, do something. It seemed to be relative to where i was somehow. I'd recommend just getting away from wherever your character is, maybe entering a new space and trying to save.
-
I'm a bit confused. Why is steam related to this situation if you didn't buy it on steam?
I'll try a guide. This is assuming you have skse and skyui NOT installed, so remove them.
- Open to your /Skyrim folder.
- Open the SKSE .zip file. Go into the folder inside.
- Copy and paste everything from there, into your skyrim folder. Say yes to anything it asks you.
- Install SkyUI with NMM.
- Launch skyrim using skse_loader.exe that is now located in your skyrim folder.
And there shouldn't be any problems.
Was your problem that you weren't using the skse_loader.exe? Because you need to do that every time you play if you have any mods requiring skse.
By the way, adding an outside program to steam only lets you launch it from there. It doesn't make that product a steam bought product, so it doesn't give it a folder.
-
You appear to be running a lot of texture mods (from your screenshots on your Nexus profile), along with ENB. Unless you have 2GB of VRAM or more plus at least 6GB of RAM, that's probably the source of your stutter.
I used to run a lot of heavy texture mods along with enb, but my game doesn't look like that anymore. I'm trying to scale things down for the sake of smooth gameplay.
I have 8 GB RAM, Geforce GTX 660 with 4GB VRAM, and an i7 2600k @ 3.40Ghz
-
So i've been trying to get my game to perform better, where i used to take a lot of screenshots i'd like to just play the game now. I have uninstalled a few mods that improve textures and things, and where i can i've gone down to standard or light versions of texture mods.
I've installed enboost also. But my game still constantly stutters.
If i stay still for some time and i just sit around maybe it won't stutter too bad, but whenever i'm walking around or in combat i always get stutters and it's horrible. I've been thinking of just getting rid of everything, my mods and my saves, and starting from scratch.
Any suggestions?
