I solved it! thanks to a member named blitzen. I had to enable the 3GB Switch for windows 32-bit. otherwise it's using only 2GB of virtual memory. solved ally my CTD's. YEEHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@yagho Is it using 1GB all the time? best get an app to monitor your ressource usage. or one that displays it ingame. Most of the time it doesn't need much more than 1GB with my configuration. but like i said, especially fast travel, a distant view over a large area and/or dragon encounters let it crash before on my PC. And if it's running without CTD's or lags, "Don't try to fix what's working!" ;)

 THANK YOU; THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy, the 3GB Switch did it!! WHAT I DID: execute the Command prompt as administrator type: "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" (type it without quot.marks and there a 3 spaces in total!! missed the one after bcdedit first...) All of my CTD's ARE GONE!!! I mean ALL OF THEM! I played for an hour and checked all the places, that was giving me the most CTD's (mostly after fasttravelling to them, right after the loading screen. sometimes in combat in the outside world.) It's all good now. Loading times have increased slightly but still totally acceptable. I even increased my shadow resolution back to 2048. I was so frustrated already and scared it's due to my mod-messed-up savegame, but i was heading in the right direction with the Virtual memory. :D the ram booster application still shows 2048MB but i guess it's the LAA in the TESV.exe what's doin the trick to let the additional 1GB kick in. What happens if I set it to 4096 btw? I really don't want to mess around with my windows, especially not now when it's all working as it should. But would that be possible? Blitzen really flashed my skyrim world! Thank you again, man! I owe you big time. This is THE most important thing I've done to improve my skyrim experience. Can't believe I didn't come across it myself. Really searched a lot

I can't get skyrim running the 2.3GB of my free Ram. 1.8GB is the limit. I found this number (~1800MB) displayed in a tool called ram booster as the 'free virtual memory'. Here's a screenshot. I think this is related to each other and not just coincedential. Someone please help, as I been unable to find something by googling. I'm totally confused and clueless about that. And i think my Skyrim crashes/freezes are due to insufficient memory...They just appear in very resource expensive areas. (A wide look in the distance seems to be the common thing in these areas/cells) I have vista 32-bit. I tried to increase the virtual memory padding file. Doesn't matter which size, if it's 9GB, 20GB, or 0 GB, if I disable it or set it to automatic, I still get the same information as shown in the screenshot. (Of course I reboot after i change the padding file) I thought the padding file size determines the virtual memory. In my task-manager i get displayed the correct size of my padding file, though... Please SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS on this issue!

I have exactly the same problem! a little under 1.8 GB is the limit. I came a bit further by downloading a freeware tool called mz ram booster. It shows something really disturbing and confusing under 'virtual memory information'. see screenshot: Because the 1831 MB free virtual memory displayed in the programm is nearly exactly what i get for running skyrim when i check the taskmanager. This seems to be majorly important for this issue and cannot be just coincedential!! As you are having the same "emory limit". I have vista 32-bit. I tried to increase the virtual memory padding file. Doesn't matter which size, if it's 9GB, 20GB, or 0 GB, if I disable it or set it to automatic, I still get the same information as shown in the screenshot. WHICH HOUSE MODS did you activate again? Please link them, i want to try that. I had a breezehome and proudspire manor mod, but they didn't "clean" my place up. I actually would love to get rid of all the stuff stored in breezehome and proudspire manor. Another bad thing is that i added stuff by using the console (player.placeatme ....)that got placed in breezehome "in between". Now i hear it rambling and rumbling like it's still about to fall on the floor but stuck somewhere. Kind of like my breezehome is haunted... So if this won't help with my Goldenglow/Riften problem i have a tidy spook-free house again at least. :)

@ Mr.Bravo The bugged script might be the problem. the script is still in your saves i think. i read something like that about broken quests: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/703954-are-you-having-constant-exterior-ctds-ive-finally-found-your-solution/ You need to wait 31 days. But you should do it in the "test chamber". This is a guide how to do it: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#Clean_Save_Procedure Hope this helps....

Well, title says it all....

@TheGReenLion: The temperature, of course! Because of that i probably get the occasional CTD's sometime. My PC is howling after it, like the ventilation wass running at full rotation already. Don't know what to do about it though, but thanks for pointing that out! I'm not going to strip my PC naked, because of Dust etc. Maybe put a ventilator next to the PC? LOL Nah, that wouldn't be nice for my energy bill and neither for mother nature! I'll just live with it...

Unfortunately I'm not a programmer, so I'll stick to the 'Sunny Windhelm solution'. :D I was able to complete my quest in windhelm, so im happy for now. Thanks again!

A little explanation at first: The displayed armor rating in the armor menu includes perks, armors, helmets etc and enchantment bonuses. The HIDDEN ARMOR BONUS is added to it. In vanilla it's 40 for the armor(chest), 20 for boots,20 for gauntlets, 20 for helmets. So the actual damage reduction is: (displayed armor rating + the 100 hidden armor bonus) That together multiplied by the vanilla scaling of 0,12. The outcome is the damage that gets reduced by armor in %. (correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure that's the way it is) I'm using the armor cap mod which changes the capped damage reduction to 90% and the scaling to 0.08. So it also needs to be compatible Would it be possible to change the hidden armor bonus for Heavy Armor only? Like to 200 or 250. That would make it more logical.

My idea is a Mod, that adds a Power called f.e. 'Sphere Conjunction' or "Add Witcher characters". When you use it, a menu appears (like in Dance of Death). Then you choose one character you want to add (especially wanted by me: Geralt, Iorweth and Triss, maybe later Roch, Letho etc. too) and choose where they should be placed. (current player position would be best, or certain places) This location is then determined as their 'home' and is where they return to, when you dismiss them. Like this you can add them to unimportant locations that don't interfere with other mods. I had problems with 'Triss Companion' because i already changed stuff in Riverwood where she appears. You also should be able to add every follower seperately. Their main skills are obvious:Triss - ultimate Sorceress, Iorweth - Archer (and One-Handed,Sneak) Geralt - Swordsman (Dual Wield+Two-Handed) Since Geralt, Iorweth and Triss are already avaiable as player character in the 'witcher ultimate mod' (with awesomely good and real looking models!) and their armors are out there too, half of the work is already done, I think. Of course I don't have a clue actually... It would be great, if someone would go through that effort and create a mod like this. Just think about how awesome it would be with the UFO mod and these three at your side!! Apart of this there aren't too many cool follower mods out there... Hope to get some replies... Peace!

I think it has to do with the mod 'Natural Rain' with was included in the realistic lighting mod as option. Since I'm using the latest version of realistic lighting, which DOESN'T include rain anymore, I'm having crashes at Windhelm. Well, at least i think so. I tried to approach from south and everytime at the exact same invisible border it crashed. Guess that's when the weather script kicks in. Wish i'd never had installed the goddamn rain mod. Riften area around Goldenglow Estate got messed up too because of it. (Well again, at least I think so.) Isn't there a way to reset or replace the weather scripts again in order to repair this issue in the saves? If you know something helpful, POST IT! I'll also keep my eyes open. But thanks for the tip with the weather change via console. I'll try that now...

I'm pretty sure by now, that these 'pink textures' most probably occur because the PC is OUT OF MEMORY. think the RAM, but not quite sure on that. might be the CPU or GPU as well. Mods and .ini tweaks require more memory than the 'pure' game. Other causes might be load order issues/messed up 'load pathes'... The models are simply 'naked'! In my case, i got rid of some mods and texture replacers and get missing textures nearly never. some CTD after a while playin or in buggy areas like the GODDAMN RIFTEN AREA!!! but other than that my game runs and uses everything my PC has to offer. :) I'm a bit afraid how the Dawnguard Add-on will affect it though... I'm planning on installing my old skyrim Backup (which lacked, crashed or missed textures on my system) on a friend's PC, that's Ultra high-end. Plus every HD 4k texture mod and so on i can find after that. Let's see how that goes!

Hi there! Someone please help! I don't get all items from the equip sets altough they are listed completely, just as i created them, even in the config file (see below), but my character just doesnt apply all of them. Not sure but think it may has something to do with my tons of enchanted and especially renamed items... No clue how to fix it... I didn't change any files via editor btw... I'm specialized in enchanting and smithing and carry over 400 pounds of essential gear, jewelery and weapons with me. Using the equip set feature properly would really rock my world!!!! I'd be really thankful for any advise. ---------------------------------------------- favoritesmenu_equipsets.cfg: # This file was automatically created by the Categorized Favorites Menu # mod.
