  1. Just for future reference, you can click the "edit" button underneath your post to add new content if you need to. Helps avoid any unnecessary posts. I've merged your two posts into one for you. ^^
  2. http://forum.gamingsource.net/index.php?showtopic=924 You can find your answer there. Please be sure to run a forum search on your questions before posting, thanks. ^^ Also this thread is rather old and your post doesn't add anything new as such so that's thread necromancy... you might wanna read up on the rules before you post. Helps avoid any embarassments. ^^ Anyways, methinks I'll lock this...
  3. Stampede! Haha, I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see you again. ^^ Nice to see you're still around. I can't say I've played Ultima VII... the fact I'm on Windows XP and have no idea where I could get VII are rather large obstacles... I could use DOSBox I guess, but to be honest I'm kinda put off trying it! I like the sound of the features of it (well besides that whole same gender procreation thing ;)) but... it's stupid I know, the fact that it uses 2D graphics/animations makes it sound less exciting to me. Must be the whole Generation X thing rotting my brain. :P Still, hopefully I'll be able to get myself to try it one of these days. ^^
  4. D@N's post deleted. Please only post if what you're saying is valid to the topic... thanks.
  5. Ahh yes. This is a good one I think, despite what some anti-final-fantasy people may say. :P It kept me very addicted for the period of about 1 year... it has decent gameplay and is generally very polished, although the graphics may look a teensy bit outdated now. The only bad thing about it is post level 40... it starts to get ridiculously hard to get a group for your level (and of course you cannot solo at all, unless you're a beastmaster) to the point of actually destroying the game. Unless, that is, you have about 12 hours a day (for level 50+) to play obsessively sending out LFG requests, looking for groups, members, forming, failing, putting up with cr@ppy excuses like "oh i need to eat even though i joined ur group 5 mins ago" "i need to sleep" "my toes are cold!" etc etc. :P I never actually made it to 50 as it was already starting to grate on me at 40... and the release of WoW totally distracted me from it. Too dependant on fellow human beings to make it work. Grouping is all fine and good, but compulsory grouping is where things can get messy. :P However, up until that point, it is pretty entertaining I think. The way you can play any class you want on just one character and be at least reasonably good at it is a pretty cool feature. Decorating your house (which you get from the start), growing plants, fishing etc... tons of stuff to do. Although I must say I never really liked that whole crystal synthesis crafting system too much... :X
  6. This is a good one. Good atmospheric soundtrack, decent gameplay, even though it's still using an ATB system some timing is actually required in the battle system (Squall's gunsword attack for instance) which makes things a little more interesting. It has a very interesting storyline with some unconventional features... such as a floating academy, which I liked. :P [i apologise for all the following complete and utter forgetfulness of just about all the names in this game. :P] **SPOILERS** However I wasn't able to complete it. It seems towards the end they made a development error... well, I'd call it that anyway. Before the first battle with that evil witch guy when the seal is broken (the male one, can't remember his name, that the Ultimawotsit woman possesses who takes Rinoa hostage) you can go to a stone structure on one of the southern islands. There you can recruit Odin, a random summon that turns up and has a chance to insta-kill all non-boss enemies. Then, in the battle with the blonde haired guy inside the fortress (it's been too long since I played this game! Damn confusing names) if you last long enough Odin will transform into his second form... one capable of 9999 damage to all enemies on the field regardless of boss status. This became a bit of a problem for me when facing the witch boss I mentioned before. The boss takes Rinoa hostage. Which is annoying, as it absorbs health from her and you have to concentrate on keeping her alive, yourself alive (what with insane blasts of Ultima and other strong magic now and then), and doing enough damage to stay ahead of the healing, which is extremely difficult as is. Then, uber Odin turns up because the battle takes so long, and kills them both outright. Game Over. Ruddy brilliant! That's the only downside to this game. For pity's sake, don't recruit Odin before going to the floating fortress! :P

    Dungeon Siege

Fun game. Really good hack'n'slash. The storyline isn't too bad, either. :P However, I found in the end it becomes somewhat pointless, especially if you go online, when someone can just hit a button, type in a six letter code, press enter, and totally max out their character instantly (you can do that offline too but in an online environment it makes being a legit high leveler utterly pointless). Takes the whole point out of leveling up, which is about 7/10ths of the game unfortunately. :P
  8. Yes, it does have more depth with the NPCs and questlines than the Diablo series did. As I said it reminds me of DnD in that respect. But it does have it's fair share of hack-n-slash as well... well, if you're using melee it's more like a monotonous chop-chop-chop actually... which is why I recommend mage to anyone who gets it. :D
  9. It's funny how this game is both classical in a way and yet mostly action. It reminds me of some old DnD games but at the same time it has an insane amount of mowing through hordes of enemies. I appreciated the non-linear gameplay of this, but in the end became somehow bored of it. It just didn't really seem to grip my attention well enough, the main storyline was, as I recall, fairly mediocre. And smashing through semi-3D opponents endlessly is only fun for so long. :P And yet, this seems to be the only kind of RPG around for PC at the moment! There can't have been an actual RPG release for the PC for a good year or so now. At least not to my knowledge. Maybe people figure they can't compete with the large MMORPGs around at the moment...

    Driver

Just out of curiosity, how many people actually learnt to play this game for the PC without tearing their hair out? I tried it a couple years back and the controls were so insanely complicated I gave up out of sheer frustration after 10 minutes of barely managing to get the key in the ignition. :P

    Diablo

Ah, the classic. 2 was better, damn it! :P Didn't help that multiplayer would never work for me. Heheh... I got to about... level 24 of the dungeon... then got killed by 100 poorly rendered toads. :D Couldn't be bothered to beat the rest...
  12. Have fun, and come back in one piece too if possible. ;)
  13. Keep resting and you'll have about 3 more. They're not really important. They're just Dagoth Ur messing with ya. A sort of invitation, if you will. Although it usually doesn't work properly, with all my characters except my most recent one I got the disturbing dreams after I beat Dagoth Ur, which doesn't really make much sense. Oh, and the golden mask guy is Dagoth Ur.
  14. Yes, it was. Gamespot's review of the E3 show says so, and also Bethesda mentioned that they'd got hold of a celeb voice. Also, interestingly enough, from that same review it sounds like Oblivion will have a physics engine, a bit like HL2. Spiffy. :D
  15. Yep Kissimura is right, 25 min trailer for the actual E3. This trailer is the public one methinks that they'll release on the site during or after E3. I'm not sure when they're gunna release the full 25 min trailer to the public. Atti posted this trailer in the "Oblivion for E3" thread yesterday, but it's 50mb... it is slightly better image quality, though. I see they've managed to get a hold of Patrick Stewart anyway. ;D Pretty sure it's him anyway. Nice to know at least some of the voice acting'll be good.

    Guild Wars

Yes! Unfortunately the initial appeal of this game is starting to wear off. I'm about halfway through level 16 with my W/E and in the depths of the western jungles. Believe me, it doesn't get any better after Lion's Arch really. :( It's still quite entertaining, but nowhere near as fun as it was. For one thing the missions are ridiculously difficult and as you say, the amount of non-english speaking players does seem quite overwhelming. Not to mention, I'm quite the equipment freak. I love upgrading to new looking armours and weapons and improving my character through them. That's why I love World of Warcraft. This game, however, has very few armour/weapon upgrades. And even if you do find some upgrades, they look the same as the previous pieces! If they're from the same set that is. The only warrior armours I've seen are ringmail, ascalon, wyvern, and gladiator. That's it. There are a few other armours in PvP, but I haven't seen them in RP yet.

    Guild Wars

It does get better than this... right? ^^; I seriously doubt I can be bothered to play a game where exploration involves discovering more scorched rock and desolate plains, and getting mobbed by scorpions and gargoyles... :/ Oh well, level 8 and counting :P

    Guild Wars

Ok this is weird. Everyone says that. And yet I'm pretty damn sure I checked that very collector (next to the Master ranger guy) and he just had the legs, no boots. Is it possible they changed it with the patch they did yesterday? I checked the other collector in the area next to the other ranger trainer, not a single piece of ringmail there either. I could just have been extraordinarily stupid of course, that's not unheard of. ;) Well anyway, I gave up on anymore pre-searing stuff... went straight to post-searing. And I see what you mean about the distinct lack of grass. Eww. :P

    Guild Wars

Yes I must admit that was a bit of a spoiler there... :/ Oh well. Anyways, this is bugging me... where do you find the ringmail boots in pre-searing? I've looked almost everywhere, and all the forums I've checked have the wrong information (I guess they changed it since Beta). I tried the guys next to both ranger trainers in Regent Valley but neither give the boots, just legs.

"Tutorial area"? Good lord, you mean there's an entire game world OUTSIDE of the part I'm currently in? Spiffy. :D You see, I never twigged this was a tutorial area, because, as you said earlier, they give you cr@p all when it comes to help. :P Just a few dialogues stating the obvious and not telling you what you really need to know. So, how do I get out?

    Guild Wars

Finally decided on a Warrior/Elementalist yesterday. Level 6, name is Joren Flameblood. :P Aiming for Axe Mastery 11, Fire Magic 11, Strength 6, Tactics 6. So far he's been working great, has awesome crowd control abilities... although 10 level 3s is still a bit much for him. :P Oh yes, also, I'm currently wandering around trying to find quests... I have "A Gift for Althea" and "Across the Wall" but I haven't been able to figure out how to do either of them. I tried the Beautiful Feather and Shell for the Althea quest but the NPC didn't like either of em. I haven't been able to find any way past the wall...

    Guild Wars

I have Guild Wars but haven't been able to decide on a character... made 4, deleted 4. Heh... hope to come to some sort of decision today :P My main pet hate is that warriors look so silly IMO... like thick beefcakes in leather dresses. I prefer the look of Elementalist buut... eh, I'll work something out. Think Elementalist/Warrior would work? :P

    Guild Wars

Nice. Thanks ^^ I haven't done any in-depth reading but I reckon I'll probably go for Warrior/Necromancer (kind of an easy choice I know, but meh). I was always one for playing the game and then reading the instructions later. :D By the way, when do you get to choose your subclass?

Nice. I've got mine on pre-order at Amazon first class, it should arrive tomorrow. ^^ For some reason the release date at Amazon was the 29th, go figure. I'm not 100% sure on my character, I mean, the site had precious little info on the game (which I found strange) and I didn't know where else to go to get info! I'll most likely be going for a heavy warrior style character though to start with, as always. ;)
  25. With me, it's always online, and always from amazon.co.uk (I live in England as you know :P). They always have the latest games in stock, and often with a 20% discount. They deliver promptly, although recently they have been slower, probably because of Royal Mail's suckyness.
