  1. Thank you so much, weirdly enough I followed your simple steps (and a few different ck tutorials) and actually managed to succesfully add crowd noise in Diamond City. I had never used the Creation Kit before. Much simpler than I had imagined it to be.
  2. This sounds amazing, and deserves way more recognition
  3. Hey, right off the bat, I am going to say I have never made a mod before, nor do I know anything about the GECK or the CK or whatever they have decided to call it. I have become vaguely familiar with FO4Edit, through making merged patches and other simply edits to already existing mods. I wanted to try my hand at adding something that I think the base game sorely needs, crowd noise. I want to add a crowd noise loop to Diamond City, Goodneighbor, Vault 81 and some of the player settlements, such as Sanctuary and the Castle. I know how to convert files to .wav and I already have the files that I wish to include. I know that the directory I am looking for is Sounds/FX/AMB. I think I know how to create an esp. I also know how to replace a sound. I looked at the tutorials sticky, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. So from there I don't really know where to start. I would appreciate any help (I am not even sure this is the right place to ask)
  4. Interesting idea, but maybe there is a different angle you can take. You see one of the best sources of natural adhesive is tree resin. Now tree sap already features in Far Harbour, so maybe allow you to make the sap into adhesive and plant the trees in your settlement. And for those who don't have the DLC I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to port them or make new ones from scratch. Anyway there is already a mod that does something uncannily similar, as it is a mutfruit plant that requires one of each adhesive component, I.E. corn, tato and mutfruit: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6123/?
  5. Would it require the Creation Kit or do you think I could just do it with FO4Edit?
  6. There is something missing in Fallout 4 that takes me right out of it sometimes. I love this game, but this small oversight by Bethesda is reeeeally bugging me. In Fallout 4, settlements are totally silent. Generators and the occasional snippet of dialogue are the only sources of sound. Even in Diamond City, which is according to my settlers, "the biggest town I ever saw". Why is there no hubbub? If you have played Fallout New Vegas, then you will remember Freeside, and it had a loop of background crowd noise, people talking, glass breaking, shouting and fighting. It gave it a massive boost in character. It made you feel like you were in a poor, rundown city. The Strip, and I think McCarran also had distinct background sound effects. If the npcs were just milling about silently, then you would instantly remember that this is just a video game. So what is the deal in 4? Is everyone a synth? I really don't know, as I am not a modder, but I can't imagine adding crowd sounds downloaded from some royalty free website would be terribly difficult. If they were added to Diamond City, Goodneighbor and Vault 81, that would be a great start. Even better would be if you could add them to player settlements, even if they weren't dynamic and remained even if the settlement is empty. It would certainly be better than the nothingness we have now. Adding dynamically changing sound depending on the population and distance could be an end goal. I get the feeling this would be one of those mods that people don't know they want. It would increase immersion by 1000x. I would be grateful for a response from any modders, even if it is just an explanation on how it could be done. I don't know anything about the CK, but I know a little bit about FO4Edit. Although I am guessing this would require the CK. Thanks.
