Can someone explain to me how to go about editing textures properly? What kind of photoshop options i should use while editing and saving a dds file? Basically id like to make a retexture mod like https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/42/? but with my own textures (my own edit of vanilla textures), i just cant get them to display properly ingame

Question about sword model editing

Thanks, that was somewhat helpful i guess, kinda. I had a problem with materials getting corrupted but i resolved it by converting fbx to dae using Visual studio and then imporing it to 3ds max -

Question about sword model editing

so its like this, i have no experience with witcher 3 modding, but i thought id try replacing one of the sword models (with something i put together from different vanilla sword model parts) because most vanilla ones dont look that good imo. what im interested in is materials, there are usually 2 or 3 used for a single sword(hilt, blade, crossguard), basically im asking advice about how to go about working with them models, for example the .fbx files i get using modkitchen are one-piece so it seems to me like i cant really use those to put together a sword and make it look like the vanilla ones in terms of materials. im guessing i should convert w2mesh to something i can modify like .obj and have all the parts that need different materials be sepatate objects. also is there anything i need to know about lods?
