  1. Maybe spoke too soon about my game working again lol. Anyway, my game crashes with mods/without mods immediately leaving Flemeth's Hut to go to Lothering. I ended up just playing on my shitty laggy old computer for the duration of lothering (which for whatever reason has no issues not crashing/having bugs like this) and then transferring the save file after Lothering (after getting to camp) to my main computer, which throughout the game had no other issues like this after. Till I got to the coronation scene immediately after Morrigan's dark ritual seen. The game crashes right after that, and even trying to play it through on my old computer, and loading from right after Alistair's king speech (aka right at the Denerim darkspawn fight) doesn't make a difference, it's as if the entire endgame crashes the program on that computer. Reallly disappointing bc. What's the point of ever playing the game when you can't complete it. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.
  2. Right. So I've got no clue how, but somehow my issue got fixed (honestly, it's fixed and I'm so happy about that that I cannot care enough to figure out the ins and outs of WHY this worked.) I copied directly all of the program files from my old computer, copied directly the Dragon Age documents folder (containing character saves, settings, etc.) and copied my Dragon Age Mod Manager folder, and installed all the mods my other computer was running. No DLC issues, no crashing on creating a female character. f*#@ing.. magic.
  3. I already asked for the steam refund, I was worried if I didn't with the amount of troubleshooting and trying to get the game to work and how long that was taking that I wouldn't be able to refund the game (the amount of hours it would show spent ""playing"" the game, and how long I had the copy since purchasing.) And if it wasn't going to work, I wasn't going to lose $30. I honestly don't know why this problem was happening. It only happened ~After~ I uninstalled the game the first time, and reinstalled it again. Before, I had issues with the DLC, but nothing with the crashing upon creating a female character. That only happened once I tried to reinstall it again, and each time I uninstalled and reinstalled after that (even after the complete system reset.) +I have seen a few other scattered reports online of the same instance occuring, with little to no solutions and many people not finding the cause or a way to solve their problem. I could link them if you want, but googling dragon age origins crash female character turns up most of them.
  4. Weirdly also, I've googled this issue (female character crashing at character creation) and found multiple reports of this issue, with that one fix being the only one I've seen stated to try to fix it, and with many people stating that it also didn't work for them. I think I'm going to have to ask for a steam refund of the game, if no one has any other ideas. I'm really sad about this, I really wanted to play the game finally on a computer that could handle it really well.
  5. Holy s***. Okay, I think I'm at giving up stage here. Just installed the game again from Steam, and I still have the crashing issue when trying to play as a female character. The DLC issue is fixed though    I'm so lost here hahaha. The DLC is finally working, but I still can't start the game as a female character. Anyone got any ideas? I tried the fix shown here, but it didn't do anything. Again, this is a clean install with no mods whatsoever, I'm dumbfounded on what could be causing this. +I've validated the steam files and everything shows that the files are correct/unmodified/not corrupt.
  6. I used DAMM (I also prefer it to NMM.) I uninstalled the mods in DAMM, then removed all the content from my override folder, than uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and tried it with no mods. (As well as deleting any files related to the game after uninstalling, such as the /Documents/Bioware folder.) At this point, I just reset the computer to factory settings & removed files (the computer is so new it barely had anything on it) and I'm going to try installing the game again, completely fresh. Will update tomorrow, hoping for the best. Thank you for all your assistance so far!
  7. Right. Now the DLC shows in the main menu, shows under content that is downloaded, but it still doesn't show up right in the Journal - only Soldier's peak shows up, every other story DLC is blank Before the DLC didn't show up at all in the Installed Content, now it is, but it still doesn't show right in game/journal (blank) and the game still crashes when I create a female character. Honestly, if anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it. I cannot figure out why this is happening, or why I never had any of these on my old laptop, with lower specs, MORE mods (the game is clean/has no mods on the new computer that I'm running into all these issues on) and running Windows 8.
  8. And as I've just tried to start a new game, completely free of mods, first time running the game, it crashes after selecting a female pc, any class/race and clicking next. The issue isn't there if I play a male pc. Really confused here. Should have just tried to deal without having the DLC I guess. Now I can't even play  And the game doesn't recognize that I have any DLC at all. Ooof this is fun
  9. I did a complete reinstall/mod removal, and I'd want to try running a new game without any mods and seeing if the DLC content shows up, but afaik the DLC content (soldiers peak/shale/etc. not the inventory items) only show in your journal after you get to Flemeth's hut, or Lothering. This would be a fair bit of gameplay - going through an origin, ostagar and the wilds - all without any skip fight or skip ostagar mods, and it might not even work. Does anyone have any character save games I could test, ones with little or no mods?
  10. I've checked on my old computer, with all of the same mods installed, that the DLC shows up. I feel like it's either an issue w the game itself and how it was installed on my new computer, or an incompatibility with Windows 10 or something that is different on my new computer than my old one. Will try later to copy game files directly from my old computer to the new one to see if it makes a difference.
  11. Hi Angela - nope, never resolved it. I played through the base game and uninstalled everything. Reinstalled and without mods the DLCs functioned again. I haven't tried modding again to see if the same thing happens yet. Did you have to start a new game? I've tried removing all my mods and starting from an area like Flemeth's hut (before you receive all the quests) to no avail. I could honestly live without the DLC if I didn't lose Shale :ohdear:
  12. I just tried removing all of my mods and loading a save from Flemeth's hut. I still get the same error. If it helps though I have mainly cosmetic/armor mods (like Pineapple Tree's Vibrant Colors or Additional Hairstyles) and then , Weapon VFX remover, for Dazips I have: Extra Dog Slot Grey Wardens of Fereldan Sleep Until Dawn Dalish Mage Origin Dark Times Romance Bench Improved Romance Scenes Alistair Kirkwall Exports Loincloth Fashion Morrigan Restoration RLS Fashion Bazaar RLS Kirwall Emporium RLS Swan Song RLS Witcher emporium Skip Fight Universal Voices Warden Trading post Lock Bash Hide Helmet Utility Sack and any other mods I have would be ones that remove VFX in combat or dialogue tweaking mods such as the Bi Overhaul mod (as far as I know, I've checked and made sure I don't have any conflicting dialogue tweak mods - I stay away from mods like Improved Atmosphere that have very little compatibility.) (I would list every mod I have but, I have so many that it would take far too long and I'd imagine it would also be far too long for someone to read. So I just tried to give an overview of the type of content I have, to see what type of mod could likely be causing this issue.)
  13. I have the DAO Ultimate Edition and I'm just recently playing it on a newer computer, and for whatever reason the DLC is not showing up in game. When I go into my journal in game and go to Active Content (which lists all the DLC/Dazips you've installed) all the DLC is there. It is the same when I check from the main menu and click Downloadable Content > Installed Content, all of the DLC is there and is checked (enabled.) When I do look in my journal and look at quests I have active, under the Premium Content tab it only lists Soldier's Peak with a small blurb talking about how if I return to camp I might see Levi (which I have, many times, I'm currently doing the Redcliffe quests right now.) Does anyone have any ideas on what I could try/what could be causing this? Could this be related to Event Manager mods? I have quite a few mods in general, and if it is related to this I would try to remove any Event Manager related mods.
