  1. Okay so I've been dwelling on the unarmed combat situation in Skyrim and in reality if you punch or kick someone hard enough the effects can lead to a fairly wide range of different consequences, some of them following are examples: - Knocking them out - Knocking them back - Knocking them down - Knocking them flying - Causing serious injury - Killing them (In rare occasion's with extreme force) Now I know there are a few unarmed mods out there but I'm curious if anyone might be able to work with what is already available to save unnecessary hassle. Some of the above are already in the game for instance knocking opponents flying however it only applies to werewolves when they do a running attack... I'm hoping that this can be added so not only is your player character capable of it but also able to cause some serious damage. I am also hoping that unarmed combat could have a perk tree with different advancements that unlock different skills like kick and knock flying and also increase the % chance of your attacks dealing critical damage or killing opponents compatible with other unarmed mods like the kick bash mod - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44666/? or Hand to Hand -http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29453/? so basically a mod with compatibility. I'm hoping that this request isn't to difficult, and if it is then I would appreciate some/any feedback and/or other mod recommendations that might already contain the above suggestions in them.
  2. Okay so I'm no expert on using creation kit but I have used it in the past and I am considering creating a new race. I just finished making my character using the character builder and racemenu version 3-4-5 however I have made quite a number of changes including muscle size, body proportions, arm and leg scales etc... and I have also saved him as a preset now. I would like to know if it is possible to use my preset to create a new race in the race options using creation kit but I fear that creation kit may nullify all my racemenu edits with all the scale options. Does anyone know an easy way of creating a race by importing an already made racemenu preset and adding it into creation kit? I hope my question isn't too technical... any help would be appreciated.
  3. Trying to make a new custom race with a character I have created with a few small tweaks and was wondering if anyone with the creation kit know how has any idea how to import the legs and feet from the frost giant race so that they can be added to another or custom race... I'm a bit rusty with the tools required to do this so if anyone is able to do this fairly easy request or could give me a few tips on how I go about this that would be awesome! http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/skyrim.gamepedia.com/thumb/4/44/FrostGiant.png/300px-FrostGiant.png?version=42618747accad8487ecfe4e36ab60e8a
  4. Yeah that's nice description with what their backs resemble. I'm Scottish myself and we have plenty creatures in our folklore tales here too like Kelpies, Water Elves, Selkies, Fear Liath, Black Donald, and the Cailleach but since this Skyrim is basically a Scandinavian influenced game and region I think there should be more in terms of creatures from Norse folk tales and legends. What I find fascinating is the similarities in folk tales across other country with regards to meeting strange human like creatures in the woods and people either coming back with a story that sounds like fable or not coming back at all. I think in the Slavic countries they have a creature called the Leshy which has a similar story surrounding it. The only thing that differs is the appearance, that being a more man-like creature covered in moss and grass with hair and a long beard. It to is supposed to be a ruler of the forest and have abilities to hide itself and protect animals and such. I actually just found this like the now - http://listverse.com/2012/10/15/10-creatures-in-scandinavian-folklore/ There is quite a few other good suggestions on here. I also quite like the idea of the Mare or Night Demon - Some kind of creature that arrives in the night and kills you if you don't get up to fight it or something. Perhaps this would be a bit harder to implement although the Riekling might provide a good model base for it. http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/fuseli.jpg
  5. This is a short suggestion. Whether anyone picks it up and decides to go with it then that would be awesome. I'm not modder myself nor do I have any modding programs or experience so I can't do anything about this. Just leaving this out here with the hopes that somebody with imagination decides to make it. Recently watched a Norwegian film called Thale based on the legend of a mythical creature in Norse folklore called the Huldra or Hulder, I believe the pronunciation is Hultra or something along those lines. These creatures are regarded to resemble women sometimes beautiful in appearance with a tail similar to that of cattle with an odd black formation on their back and are also very swift footed and stealthy with the ability to blend into their surroundings in the forests when they come under threat. Generally these creatures tempt men into their forest lair by their unique humming or chanting vocalizations for seduction with a tendency to kill men who try to resist similar to Sirens in Greek mythology. I believe there is also a male counterpart known as the Huldrkarl. Although somewhat similar to in-game creatures such as the Hagraven and the Spriggan I figured that this might fit into somewhat well with their unique likeness to humans yet with their alter-ego of being both passive in nature yet as malevolent and aggressive when under threat. I figured for vocalizations there's unique and quite eerie Scandinavian calling technique called Kulning that would fit the bill quite nicely. Here is a couple of links - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfrAoakV9SY , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7VtXMWAPlk Here are a few images below showing what these creatures look like - http://www.fungagz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Huldra.jpg
  6. Hey. I'm new to this thread but couldn't help noticing there seems to be some disagreement on here and not much has been posted on here lately either so I'm guessing that I might be too late to for any new ideas. Anyway one race idea I came up with that hasn't really been mentioned (haven't looked at all 29 pages so maybe it has) is the Woodland Satyr - A race that uses stealth combined with accuracy. I figured that the would they would excel in bow use and two handed weapons like spears. Maybe have the ability to summon spriggan's and maybe align with them as well since they are also guardians of the forests. I think when it comes to build etc... they would be slightly larger than Nord's and Orc's with a stronger build about to perhaps carry more wieght. I also think that they should have a frenzy ability in melee attack similar to the Orc's berserk ability. Here's a couple of images I found that represent what I think they would best look like. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101223193350/narnia/images/1/1f/Satyr.jpg Initially I thought this race would be best implemented as a creature as oppose to being playable, roaming the woodlands in groups of two's and three's taking down mages, witches and hagravens with a stronghold similar to the Elvenwood mod. Anyway this is my new idea. I'm surprised no one has made these anything like these guys yet.
  7. Is this thread still alive? Came across this in a search from the front page of this thread http://www.horribledeath.com/images/halo/brute_zb.JPG & when I noticed this it reminded me of these guys from another Bungie game called myth - http://media.mythjournals.com/media/defeat/sb-loss-14.jpg They're called the Trow. Basically they are gigantic humanoid creatures around 14/15 feet tall with elephantine feet which they use to side kick men with devastating consequences. Generally they can take out several to a dozen men, sometimes more before they get turned to stone and die. Here's another image - http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/963/trow.png At the bottom right you can see a man's head which gives you some idea of the scale. They also tend to have latin names like Pernix Ultor, Saxum Pugnus, Pulvis Ira, Fractum Atrox and so on. Here is a link - http://myth.bungie.org/legends/encyclopedia/who.html you can find names under Trow which is quite a ways down. Thought it would be rather cool if guys could be found wandering around different regions of Skyrim. Obviously men and soldiers would want to avoid them at all costs as they walk very fast stomping rather loundly and kill without pity or remorse indiscriminately and regard humans as inferior. They also have a tendancy for their skin colour to somewhat blend with the landscape vegetation ie. forest they have a greenish tint to their skin, where as in snow or cold regions they have a blueish turquoise tint. Otherwise they tend to be more grey but you get what I mean. I know they aren't exactly lore friendly but I figured they'd blend in pretty well into the Skyrim landscape. I think it would be really cool to see more dangerous humanoid races/creatures in Skyrim landscape as there isn't much besides humans and trolls. Is it just playable race ideas your looking for by the way, or non-playable/creatures as well?
  8. Thought someone with the know how might be able to perhaps modify the giants to look more like the big guy you see at the start of season 3 in GOT. I think the beard he has looks quite similar to the Valfar companion beard but I've not idea where this can be found or if the beard is available for modding use.
  9. Hey, just done a bit of searching and I like your mod idea of campfire stories. Thought since you were looking for some tale similar to bigfoot maybe you could make one based of the Trow from myth. Found this text from a legends and lore site for the game "Initially we thought the barn we were hiding had been magicked away, but then we saw the unmistakable silhouette of a Trow becoming more and more distinct through the settling dust..." The Trow are a legendary race in this game which are basically more than twice the height of a man, perhaps close to 16 feet tall. Very muscle toned and extremely tough for even a company of men to kill, primarily because of their massive elephantine feet which can inflict devastating damage from a single kick and usually the victim is left in pieces. More often than not they are heard before they are seen as they have a very loud stomp as they walk towards their enemies and usually their walking out paces their enemies running too which makes them even more deadly. Their skin colour can also be a variation of colours from a turquoise blue in the snow to green in forests so then can almost blend in with their environment. I thought maybe for a story you could have some village people have you investigate their farm near a hillside and find some missing relative or something only to find the corpse of the missing person. Here's a link to one of my earlier posts if your interested in my idea http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/908722-the-trow/?hl=%2Bmyth
  10. Hey MaceofTanis. Thanks for replying to my thread. Didn't think it would get any attention so haven't been on here in a while. I like your idea of skins for warriors, as well as maybe Fir Bolg, Beserks, Journeymen or Avatara. Having the dark as enemy replacers would be pretty cool too. I understand your position. If I knew how to work these programs I'd probably be doing something about this myself right now but it's a bit over my head. I think this sort of project would probably require a proper team similar to the lord of the rings based one MERP and I guess it would probably take quite a bit of time for it to get finished too depending on how dedicated the team was. I agree definitely a Myth based RPG similar to Skyrim would have great potential and be very addictive. I can just about picture in my head the scene from Bagrada with a group of soldiers huddled around a campfire through the night having some banter and then some loud thunderous sound marching toward them hidden from the thick snowfall and the darkness of night and then all of a sudden a Trow appears and the company of men meet their fate in bloody pieces... sorry my imagination got a bit carried away there. I'm sure There are still plenty of Mythers out there that are holding their breath for the next instalment of the series so I figured posting this here my help inspire someone to make use of what Skyrim has to offer. Great to see that it caught someone's eye!
  11. I guess this would be a massive request and probably more of a conversion than a mod of a similar size to the MERP project but I thought I would put it on here since nobody else has yet. Myth: The Fallen Lords was the first RTS and also game of the year when it was released in 1997. Games and graphics have come a long way since then and therefore I believe that the Skyrim engine and modding tools could provide the perfect case for bringing Myth back to life. Since the game is old and many players and modders may not be familiar with this I can list various sites that provide an insight into what the game was about with it's in-depth storyline and various races, characters and artifacts. The game is set in a world with different era's of which the dark are in control. Basically you fight the forces of the dark (undead armies and sorcerers) out of the lands of the west where all but a few towns and cities have been annihilated by the forces of the dark and each reoccurring battle and skirmish brings you closer to the enemy where you must destroy their leader (the leveler) and bring an end to the reign of the dark. Each level begins with a narration which gives the player a better understanding of what is going on and what your mission objective is. In each mission the player also has a different selection of units (sometimes to the players disadvantage) and must fight various numbers of enemies and enemy types. Now I figured this may be very difficult to implement however Skyrim has a lot of very similar aspects, landscapes and enemies of its own which gave me this idea to begin with. The map which TFL uses is fairly similar to Tolkien's map of Middle Earth as are some of the races for instance there are dwarves in both however in Middle Earth they wield axes and hammers where as in Myth they wield molotov cocktails and satchel charges to blow up enemies. In Middle Earth there are Ents where as in Myth there are Forest Giants which fullfil the same role usually fighting off larger enemies such as Trow. I figured the game play would be the major difference of the playing since Myth is an RTS you can usually control anywhere from 5 to 30 units where as in RPG you can only control your own character, however in Skyrim there are a number of instances where you meet either Imperial soilders or Stormcloak soilders for sieges and ambushes which Is what had me thinking that if this can be used to win strategic locations then it could also be used for missions and skirmishes. Here is a map of the world in which the myth game is based and the trajectory of the missions of which there are 25 in total but this could be increased since there are many events talk about in the narration of the game of which the game does not provide missions for. I will also add the the dotted lines represent world knot travel which is a location that teleports units and armies to other parts of the world in seconds (Similar to the Shrines in the Forgotten Vale in Dawnguard) Here is an image of the map: Pretty much all of the legends and lore of the game can be found at - http://myth.bungie.org/legends/ and for additional information of races and characters the site has a section for as well - http://myth.bungie.org/legends/encyclopedia/who.html . Each level's narrative can be found on this page - http://myth.bungie.org/legends/journal/j1-01_crows_bridge.html . And if this Mod/Conversion has interest then obviously playing the game or watching youtube videos of each level might help in shedding light on what the game is like. There have been various attempts at bringing this game back from the dead and since none of them have yet been completed I figured Skyrims engine may help bring the game back from the darkness with the epic bloody gameplay and stunning immersive landscapes and graphics that the game deserves. Any interest or criticism on this idea is welcome and I hope that there is a modding team out there that recognises this conversions potential.
  12. Yes I think the Siaga would make a nice addition too since it is very strange looking and I'm sure they roam in quite large numbers too. I also very much agree that the ocean is the way to go with more creatures since there is only a handful of fish and the slaughter fish that you might cross paths with on occasion. Basilosaurus was a early species of whale which had a long body and probably had no natural predators, I believe they would fit in and make you think twice about going for a swim. The Kraken was an old norse legend of a sea creature which dwelled in the depths of the sea and would rise up to the surface and attack ships and take crew overboard. I think they would also make for a frighting experience crossing the glacial coast of skyrim I've only got a couple of other ideas here and I'll add them since I'm on. An early giant species of pig called Entelodont once lived in ancient north america and probably chased off a lot of creatures from kills and may have also been large enough to kill it's own prey, I think this picture gives a fairly accurate representation of what they looked like: A species which might have lived around the same time as this was the bear-dog. It probably doesn't sound scary but if you compare it to the size of a man and you'd probably not take any chances approaching it for fear or losing life or limb:
  13. Yeah I guess the hyperlinks probably don't work since wikipedia doesn't use "http:// " Anyway I guess your right about my OP only being mammals. I thought I'd let other people add some suggestions. I was also thinking the Roc might be a good addition. It's a giant bird of prey probably about the same size as a dragon but I'm not sure if that would make the game any more immersive, it is also a fantasy creature. The Teratorn was an ancient bird of prey that lived before the ice age, it was also quite large but maybe only big enough to carry off a juvenile carcass of some mammals and probably lived more like a vulture. Skyrim doesn't really have any reptiles or snakes either. Maybe adders slithering about the grass might add more realism. Another fantasy creature called the Basilisk could be added to the more southern parts of Skyrim. I think they sort of resemble Komodo dragons but could turn a man to stone. I doubt that could be implemented in anyway but I thought it was worth the suggestion. I have some more ideas but I might do some more research look and maybe work on a concept for them before adding them. More suggestions are welcome too.
  14. I figured I'd throw this mod out there since there seems to be immersion & overhaul mods left right and centre popping up and so far there seems to be a lack of good mods that add more creatures to the game that fit in well to the Skyrim landscape. I figured I'd throw some suggestions on here, all of which are mammal species that are either extinct or still living and lived or still inhabit woodland or Arctic tundra environments. First I would like to suggest are musk ox. These are hardy animals which inhabit the arctic and group together to defend themselves and young against predators: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskox . Second species I thought might be an interesting addition was the wolverine. These are about the size of a small/middle sized dog and can be quite vicious in defending their food and they've been known to attack larger animals like wolves on their own: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine . Thirdly I thought Ibex might be a cool addition since the are larger goats that tend to be found on mountain tops with large horns that could be used in defense: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpine_ibex . Fourth addition that I believe would fit in very well are the lynx. They are a species of big cat which roam the forests and ambush their prey and are often undetectable. They can tackle anything from a rabbit to a deer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_lynx. Another large herbiverous species that might be as fierce as the massive wholly mammoths is the elasmotherium (giant one horned rhino). They were most likey very dangerous creatures when tackling, being close to the same size as a mammoth and & likely could kill with a single gorge from it's massive horn. I believe they most likey inhabited open plains: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elasmotherium . The Auroch is another large species, basically wild cattle that roam woodland regions and grassland. These were fierce when approached or cornered and had the neck muscles to toss a man into the air: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurochs . Another species of bear once roamed the plains known as the short faced bear. I believe this species was taller than a man at the shoulder and had legs for running and chasing down large game. It would most likely have had the power to bring down bison or moose and an encounter with this creature would have most definetly have been a fatal one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-faced_bear I was also thinking red squirrels might be something since there is a lack of small animals in the woodland regions of Skyrim. Apart from collected nuts and evading pine martins and birds of prey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_squirrel . Lastly two species which are both semi aquatic are the otter and the beaver. Beavers tend to live in woodland areas in either rivers or lakes. They live off trees by knawing them and building dams with the trunks and using branches to build their family homes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaver . Otters are small slender creatures that can live in both rivers and seas and tend to hunt creatures that dwell on the sea bottom and they can also come onto land to hunt for food: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter Right now these are my suggestions for a more realistic wild environment. If you have any more ideas then feel free to add them as I know my list is a bit short and skyrim could probably do with more birds, reptiles, lizards as well. if you're a modder that like my suggestions then feel free to give me some feedback on my requests and work on it to you're hearts content.
  15. Okay, just found this mod. Looks like it was just released today. It's called hunting grounds: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32371 Looks like it's more or less what I was looking for. It's got the skull headdress and other armour sets. I'm not sure what else the mod entails as I've just downloaded it. Thanks shadowjin for the helpful comment and get a chance to check this mod out too.
