  1. A lot of the gaming community seem to think that the forthcoming E3 event, will not see an announcement of TES VI, but will more than likely see the official announcement of Fallout 4, Dishonored 2 and perhaps the Doom reboot. I would like TES VI, to actually be based on the basic storyline of the Online version, maybe beef it up in places, but mostly expand the lore and be set near the events of the Online version. In the past, I hoped an Elder Scrolls based in the Black Marshs would really work well, but perhaps a bigger game encompassing much of Tamriel might be even more exciting.
  2. My favorite npc is Glarthir, he might be crazy but he is my kind of crazy. Paranoia is a nice early quest, that gives time to start beefing up a character, the gold earned by the quest + looting his house is really useful for a low level character, and his body makes a safe storage container (the gift that keeps giving) in my favorite town. My own character is called Sirena (regardless of what race she is), been a Nona and Moonshadow Elf in the past, but currently she is a Nord (using Abriaels' Human race Revisited), sleath based and with two major magic skills (Conjuring and Illusion), favoring light armor and blades. She wears a Little Carmine Dress (the only free item in my game), and at some point will add Saerileth as a companion, once I have acquired Battlehorn Castle and/or the IC shack. It's very early days in her current game, but a wealth of experience with other builds, suggest she will do a decent job.
  3. Hi After a 3 year break from playing Oblivion, I have re-discovered my first love, in the form of Oblivion GOTY Deluxe, and loving Oblivion all over again. In the three years since I was last active, I have toyed with Skyrim (hated it), Drakensang 1 & 2 (actually enjoyed 2 bar the annoying turn based combat), and Dreamfall The Longest Journey (not an rpg but a quality game), though Dreamfall Chapters was a massive disappointment. But recently brought a new rig from a friend, complete with GOTY, and have being playing nothing else since.
  4. Probably the only person in the whole world who would like this 'mod' made. When a named npc gets killed/dies, I would like a replacement npc generated to take his/her place...eg after the Paranoia quest is finished, and Glarthir has shuffled off this mortal coil, I would like a 'reserve' npc to join in the game, and take ownership of the deceased property and inventory, ideally with his/her own ai. This is to just keep up the numbers of active npc's, and maybe a really gifted modder could give the odd reserve npc a quest or two for a little extra to do in the game. Not being much of a coder, I would imagine that the game can check whether a npc is 'dead' or not, and should it be able to then generate a replacement from a pre-created list. Resurrection of a previously 'dead' npc, might cause issues, but nothing that can't be fixed.
  5. My father was an immigrant to the UK back in the 70's, and did take up a series of relatively low paying jobs, and on the whole he found the whole experience pretty enjoyable. As a mixed race person, I also have found the experience of life in the UK a pleasurable one, bar the odd idiot with bigotted views. It seems to me at least, that most of the discontentment in the UK, particularly in relationship to a struggling jobs market, seems aimed largely at the influx of Eastern Europeans from new member states of the EU. The commonly expressed viewpoint seems to be, that these migrant workers, will work for less than the legal minimum wage, and so prevent 'indigenous' people from acquiring long term work. To be fair, my upstairs neighbours are from Latvia, and the main wage earner does indeed work for much less than the legal minimum wage, which kind of reinforces the truth behind the perceptions. Be that as it may, the real issue would lay with the employers ( and probably the Government) for being prepared to pay such low incomes, and not with the migrants prepared to accept those wages. My Latvian neighbours are a fun lot of people, and we have had some good times sharing meals and just enjoying our different heritages. In a way, free immigration is a valuable step towards a true one-world humanity, and if we can't make that first step, then I suppose we will never be a full global society.
  6. I actually do collect figurines, I used to have a huge set of Star Wras figures during my early teens, but discovered Doctor Who a few years ago, and currently have amassed a total of 37 different Doctor Who figures, my pride and joy is a 3' high remote controlled Dalek.
  7. Quoting the head of commons home affairs select committee for the UK "UKBA caseload 'out of control' The number of outstanding immigration and asylum cases rose by 25,000 in three months and is "spiralling out of control", making the total caseload the equivalent of the population of Iceland, an MP has said. More than 300,000 cases needed to be dealt with at the end of June, up 9% over the previous three months, the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee said. But clearing the backlog should not be a rushed job done without the proper checks, the committee's report on the UK Border Agency (UKBA) warned. In the modern world we live in, immigration between nations is a global phenomenon, mostly from nations either economically 'disadvantaged' or politically unstable, to nations that are perceived as economically prosperous or a safe haven. On the plus side, these migrants, add diversity and new ideas to their new homeland, and frequently take up the low paying jobs that the 'natives' of a nation, are reluctant to take themselves. They indirectly boost the economy through simple spending power, and directly through setting up small businesses and providing employment opportunities. On the minus side, an influx of new population, puts pressure on the jobs market, as more and more people require employment, and they also put pressure on the housing stocks, as again more people require housing. Added to that, are the tensions generated by traditional tribalism, generally in the form of racial tensions. We are all human, so does it matter how many immigrants a nation takes into borders each year, or is this a 'limit' of new population that a nation can absorb, before it's basic infra-structure is overwhelmed. As usual, I will state my standpoint. I have no issues at all with the UK accepting immigrants, I do realise that currently the UK economy is pretty stagnant, and job creation is struggling to say the least, but I consider the UK to be capable of finding new ways to accommodate new population. I would have the one proviso, that immigrants which belong to known terrorist organisations, and those with criminal records of violence/murder/child abuse etc, would not be welcome as they wouldn't contribute positively to UK society.
  8. Based on current medical trends, I voted option 3 Cybernetics as a liable future for mankind. We already use artificial body parts as a matter of course, eg pacemakers prosthetics etc, and with the ever increasing power of computing technology (and i believe nanotechnology) it would not be a huge stretch of the imagination, to envision people having more complex body part replacements, with the inevitable end point of cybernetic technology. I voted option 4 as my preferred evolutionary traint, the idea of becoming a purely energy based lifeform is quite appealing to me, although I tend to think of such evolutionary traints to be implausible.
  9. Just want to congratulate President Obama for his victory, which despite pre-election predictions of being a close race, proved to be a pretty easy victory in the end. His share of the popular vote, gives him a proper mandate to pursue his policies, which I truly hope will prove good for the American people and the American economy. The straw poll associated with this debate, has suggested an Obama win virtually from the word go, so I thank all those who voted, and am pleased it proved an accurate poll in the end. I want to particularly praise colorwheel, who estimated Obama would win around 310 electoral colleges, which is almost exactly the number he won. I bow to your excellent insight, and though I wanted a different winner, I also appreciate the sterling defence you made for Obama.
  10. Absolutely not unethical. I have no interest at all in advertisements of any kind, so anything that blocks them is a good thing in my eyes. If they ever make an adblock for television, I would certainly use that as well.
  11. Although the clinical definition of 'biological parasite', might be technically correct from a purely scientific viewpoint, it has no such meaning in the non-scientific world, and as a mother of a lovely two year old, at no point did I feel 'infested' by a parasite at any time during my pregnancy. More relevantly to the question of ending human life, I fully accept that for the first part of a pregnancy, a foetus is not yet a human life, the main debate would be at what number of weeks in a pregnancy does a foetus become a child. I chose not to pick a set number of weeks, has it is debatable when the tipping point between foetus and child actually occurs. On the other end of the human life-span, I think it is acceptable for a person to have their life ended by the medical profession, if it is the unforced choice of the individual, and there is good medical reasons for ending the life, based on quality of life to be expected.
  12. With only 4 days left to the actual election, Obama is still most likely to be next President, and I hope that he will provide the necessary policies to start growing the American economy again. I agree their is no proven links to automotive unions funneling funds to the Democratic party, although the links between the Obama and Monsanto (ddt, agent orange and gmo's amongst their products over history) are a little disturbing, particularly with Michael Taylor (lobbyist for Monsanto) being given the deputy commissioner role with the FDA, and the entirely 'coincidental' refusal of the FDA to label genetically modified food (which suits Monsanto very well). But I'm sure Romney has his own dubious links to industry. I thank everybody who voted on the straw poll, the current result of Obama winning the straw poll will almost certainly be reflected in the real world.
  13. Apparently Disney have bought Lucas Arts, and there will be a 7th Star Wars film. Good news though I suspect with Disney running the show, there will be a far greater role for the Ewoks in the next Star Wars film I win.
  14. My sympathies go out to the people affected by Sandy, particularly those who lost loved ones during the storm. Of course it hasn't taken long for the Presidential candidates to try gain political capital from the tragedy, though I am sure the loss of life and property damage, will sadden them like any other person would be. President Obama is now using the old political 'trick' of sounding statesman like, to reinforce his image of being in 'control' when the chips are down, whilst Mitt Romney is doing his best to make Obama look statesman like as well, by focusing his 'disaster relief' efforts in Ohio, which I believe happens to be a state Romney must win, to have any chance of winning the election.
  15. As a non-american, I find the sheer concept of voter ID somewhat alarming to say the least. Anything that disenfranchises any eligible voter is most definitely not welcome, in any truely democratic society. And if it is indeed used, against any racial group (minority or otherwise), it should be discouraged and dropped. Though I am very confident of a Democrat win, the UK MSN suggests the race is too close to call, perhaps they are seeing something I am not seeing. Just as a point of personal interest, has anybody watched the 3rd Party debate, did my man Johnson win.
  16. I win <gosh haven't said that for weeks now>
  17. This current US Presidential election, is a battle between a lame dog President, and a challenger who is so lame they would have to invent a new word to describe his lameness (as a scientist type I would use Megalame, we love words with mega in it). Neither will serve the American people well, nor help the US nation become the thriving economic powerhouse it has been for so long. As previously stated in this debute, I believe by the 2016 elction, China will of become the top dog nation, which fills me with a little nervousness, I know where the world stands with the US driving the global economy, but am less certain of China. Referring to jim_uk point, as an english person, I am all in favour of an independent Scotland, and would welcome the people of Wales being given the same opportunity.
  18. I absolutely agree with the points made here, with the extra proviso of in built legal 'safeguards', that fully protect the medical team involved with the euthanasia, from any form of legal actions, once the deed is done. Abortion itself is a subject, which I have views on, but prefer not to state them here, as the subject provokes too much hostility on both sides of the argument.
  19. K Thinking you should not show remorse for people who kill themselves due to bad parenting as well as them giving away their information = wanting weak people to die Bullying over a prolonged period can cause serious psychological problems, that said there are ways to lessen the problem, don't live your life on Facebook and use the tools the likes of Facebook and Twitter provide to block fools and remove their "contributions". That is my point. Online bullying isn't something that should be a problem and when it is a problem is is the fault of parents. Don't post a bunch of crap online and if you do post stuff block people who annoy you. People who play video games and go on forums, are no weaker ot stronger than people who don't. In the case of memorial/tribute profiles on facebook, (and I know because I requested one for my mum when she died) Facebook will set up a memorial/tribute profile which can not be accessed by anybody at all, and only allows for the posting of messages on the wall of the deceased. Which has the obvious drawback, that should a troller decide to post unpleasent stuff, on that particular memorial/tribute profile, nobody at all(other than Facebook admin) can remove it, there is NO blocking options. And should Mr Y decide to troll my own Facebook, I certainly can block him, but then all he has to do is set up another account Mr Y#2, and continue the personal attacks. Blocking is not always possible.
  20. LOL That was the cleverest thing done by a Democrat in decades.
  21. Absolutely amazing stuff, the thought that maybe mankind may venture into another star system, is possibly the greatest single achievement in the whole history of the human race. Of course the places we venture too, may prove to be a let-down, after all Alpha/Proxami Centuri is actually a binary star system , comprising of two white dwarfs, which is exactly the wrong kind of star system to find inhabitable planets in, far too chaotic in nature to of developed stable orbit planets that are in the right place, for any form of inhabitable planet, but saying that once the technology has done it's milk runs, and simply made it to another star system, it would only be a matter of time, before we ventured to further away but more promising systems like Beta Hydrai. I always believed that each star system creates a deep "gravity" well which curved space , and the actual measured distances between systems follow the curved space path, which is far greater distance, than taking a straight path which would involve, removing the space-craft from real space, and travelling in the "void" between separate star systems. A warp drive would negate the need to do this.
  22. With high youth unemployment in the UK, with 20% of 16-25 not in employment or higher education, I think a reintroduction of some form of National Service/Conscription could serve the national interests, from the viewpoint of reducing the high levels of unemployment. The most obvious problems that I can see, is the fact that the UK is currently slashing its' defense budgets, and reducing the total numbers involved in the armed forces, and it's not a vote winner with the 18-25 voting group. Democracy in principle, is a worthy means of Government, however the principles are diluted by the people elected to Parliament, they may well start up full of idealism and a desire to make the world a better place, but once they are in power, their principles go out of the window, and they spend most of their time seeing how many mars bars they can claim as tax expenses. Saying that, I rather have a faulty Democracy than a functional Dictatorship.
  23. Just in reply to the legality of offering money to kill somebody, even though the offerer may be fully aware of the offered to persons' unlikeliness of taking up the offer, and I quote "A death threat is a statement threatening someone else’s life. The person making the threat can lack the intention of following through on it and still be charged with a variety of crimes. While charges are most serious when the threat is real, people can face serious consequences for even lightly making these statements, and the degree to which a charge is prosecuted may depend on who is threatened and how. " Which to my mind at least, suggests that the offering of money would be a potential death threat, leaning towards the more extreme ends of death threats, and would then be considered a criminal offense and definitely illegal.
  24. One of the symptoms of a nation in relatively hard times, is a tendency for it's population to lean towards the more extreme ends of the political spectrum, such as Greece currently enduring the rise of right wing nationalism, and Germany embracing the fascists in the last century. Perhaps, the American people are bit too savvy to go ultra right wing, perhaps the economy isn't doing badly enough to induce a sense of panic, but I have the distinct impression that they have become more right wing, than in the past. Which makes it even more surprising, that the Republicans being more right wing, are struggling in this election. I guess many Americans, who seem to switch political allegiances more often than their European counterparts, simply don't feel that Romney is worth switching to.
  25. Hate speech, ie racial slurs, have had their own laws, regardless of the way they are communicated, ie non digitally or otherwise. What people are being imprisoned for is for the likes of writing crude jokes on their own facebook pages. Technically anyone could very well be charged and imprisoned for writing the same kinds of things, being offensive, and publishing it in a free Ebook. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are similarly legislated. But if 'free speech' is already legislated in the non-internet world, why not apply the exact same legislation in the internet world, to my mind anonymity is a privilige, not a green light to be as offensive or hostile as you like. In the city where I live, vandals have destroyed several childrens graves, and quite rightly the families of the deceased child, are demanding some sort of justice is served on the person/people who did the actual damage, and in the exact same way, if trollers had posted abusive/hurtful comments on the deceased childrens memorial sites, the familes should expect some sort of justice to be served on the person/people who did the actual trolling.
