Hi Tchos. I enjoyed the read. It's good to hear that your computer survived the transplant :) Dust is bad for electronics, trust me... I always open up my case and check for dust inside, once a month or something. You see, if the fan collects too much dust, it suddenly gets stuck. No fan = Too much heat = Blue poisonous smoke I really like that you spend your time explaining what's going on with your work, thanks

Toolset is lagging, any fix for this?
Cluas replied to Cluas's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN Discussion
I'm sorry Tsongo, i don't know what you mean? The properties window in the toolset cannot be left open. I have to select a door, then right click, or use the menu, to get the window to open. This is where i get the lag. And then i have to close the window to do anything else. Perhaps you thought of NWN2 toolset ? In the electron toolset, things are better organized, and the properties "window" or "tab" is open all the time. But thank you Tsongo for taking the time to answer my questions - I didn't really expect any answers or any magical solution. So for now I will just have to edit the few doors i've got left, and live with the lag. It's not a big deal really ( ...but we all hate to sit and wait, right?) -
Hi all NWN fans and builders. I've got this problem in the toolset. I've looked all over the bio forums, but no answers there. It happens when i open up the "properties" window on a door. It takes minutes, before the window pops up. The toolset is working fine, i just hate to sit and wait over a minute to open a window. I just wondered if anyone has got a solution to this... I'm running Windows7. I did try to change the compatibility mode, didn't work. I opened up a "clean" mod with no hak's and no custom palettes. I only made a single area and a single door, and hoped to see the lag gone, but it was still there. I am sure you guys know about this lag, but is there any solution at all ?? Cheers

This one works with my floorlever, it switches the handle position (i put it OnUsed i think) PlayAnimation( ANIMATION_PLACEABLE_ACTIVATE ); I don't know if this the same as nwn2, is all the same functions available? EDIT: IN ELECTRON It seems it would work, on the lever with _OPEN or _CLOSE instead of _ACTIVATE _UNACTIVATE ...

Yes! Thank You very much too :woot:

Dumn qn: is this as good as last two Elder scrolls games?
Cluas replied to nisen's topic in Dragon Age: Origins's Discussion
Really, you could try some different mods to speed up combat? I thought it was fast enough though. I DID get the autoloot mod, that is a great time-saver  -
Thank You. I thought i was the only one left

Thx for taking the time to explain. It seems so simple when i read your code. Yet i couldn't have written that myself lol. Still got so much to learn. My english is getting better though  Yesterday i read the nwn1 lexicon - not the whole thing, but enough to gain a little more insight in scripting. I'm still SO noob though. For instance it took hours for me to find the function that plays the animation on placeables  (but i did it in the end, very rewarding).

Hi Tchos, interesting. I have the same problem with my testing (in NWN1). I'm probably going to end up insane :wallbash: In my quest the PC collected up to 20 items, but i can't get the npc to take JUST ONE. It's everyting, or else the crazy thing happens, that the NPC will take a whole STACK of items (in this case 10). I spended days trying to figure this out. It almost had me give up the whole quest and start over. I guess a solution would be to make the items unstackable, but my PC can't run around with up to 20 of the same items, not stackable.... I got pretty close though, using Lilacs Script Generator. I could set the script to take/check for a specific amount of items (including 0  ) - It just wouldn't work. It seems it only count the stacks  I will let you know if i ever find a solution to this, but i wouldn't count on it (No help to find in the manuals. But I'm looking through loads of tutorials). Looking forward to see your finished module, soon

Yes you are right the dialogue is awesome too. And i just love the way, they've made the plot flow. And i still think gameplay is awesome :whistling: -
I would recommend Project Q too

Hi all, i have been playing roleplaying games for many years now. I also played the good old crpg's like Baldur's Gate, NWN and others. Just recently got a copy of NWN1 and 2, and started to make my own stuff. Don't know if there's anyone still playing NWN, but it's a great game. I need to be creative, and do a lot of stuff. So it was great to try the Aurora again, since last i had the game was 10 years ago, when it just came out. The Electron toolset is also good, but i just know Aurora better. And the game i am working on, is for my daughter (8 years old) and she like the controls in NWN1 best. I hope to meet other creative people here, and hopefully learn much new stuff .... Sorry for my english, thanks for reading

Did you get it ?? It's a great game, reminds me of Wow in some aspects ( i think they used the same game-engine). The cinematics are good, and the dialogue is allright. The gameplay is awesome. I haven't played TES yet. I'm playing through DA:O for the third time instead  -
Conversation troubles, neewbie questions
Cluas replied to Cluas's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Haha yes i tried to make a giant area. Took forever to bake it. And i like tiny places better  I'm just giving it a break with Electron. I always liked Aurora better. It's more oldschool yes. That's exactly what i like about it. It's much easier to control. Also ingame, when you run around, the controls are better in NWN1. So I'm making some quests and stuff in NWN1. And then later, when i am more skilled, i could try importing it into Electron. It should be possible, right ? I'm making a small (tiny) game for my daughter (8 years), she loves it so far. I'm not giving her much fighting, just a few collector quests, and good looking areas to explore... FUN  More questions are bound to come up later. Oh yes, i found the Lilac script generator very useful, i recommend it to all noobs (like myself) out there  Cheers 8) -

NWN2mapper is a great plugin. I should have found it earlier. Now it's actually fun to make interiors ;) I also have sinplug, treecutter, resizer, and quite a few more. Some of them don't seem to work, though. Thanks for all the replies, now it's time to play around some more. :D -

Conversation troubles, neewbie questions
Cluas replied to Cluas's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Thank you guys for the info. I tried lip-flappers and made it work :) To avoid using this try as much as possible to make the person you want the PC to address to be the last one that spoke. The speaker and listener part of the conversation node works fine for NPC to NPC but for some reason doesn't work for the PC. That was why i had all those problems  So now I'm wrestling with getting everything to show up in my area, i made some npc's and conversations, but one of them will not show up in the game. Checked walkmesh, and updated, baked, but still no npc :wallbash: Guess i'm just a total noob -

Hi Tchos, TY again. AND I just read your dev diary. Great stuff. You must have been working really hard to get it all done. One thing i don't understand is overland maps, i guess i will learn that soon (too) I'm going to try your dialogue advice today. I have been saving as a mod with zero problems. Going to directory, just to see if there is any diference. Kudos, and cheers to you  -
Conversation troubles, neewbie questions
Cluas replied to Cluas's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Ahh I see what you mean with 'spoken' dialogue now ;) For a moment i thought you had no dialogue at all. My bad... I agree with you that there should be NO voice overs. I would only use it for very special stuff - But it was fun to test it, and get somthing to finally work... It's not even as hard as i thought. But i also like the NWN1 style much better. Now, about my problem, I did try to set both the speaker and listener tag. It's no good. My Pc still turns to the wrong npc. I am fighting very hard with this and i will make it work... can i perhaps get the PC to look at a certain waypoint or something? I have been learning a lot. But still feel very new. Still so much to learn. Luckily i found a few good threads around. And I hope to meet more people like You, Tchos  (thank you so much for taking time to help me out). The Legend plugins, yes only for pw's. But i would have liked to at least check it out. Well I've got some good ideas anyway, and i can make my own quests. I hope :whistling: -
Conversation troubles, neewbie questions
Cluas replied to Cluas's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Hi Tchos, I'm very honored that You took the time to answer :) As for 'facing' problem, i had made a conversation with the pc and 2 npcs- But when the pc should face the 2. pc to talk, he kept looking at the 1. npc ... No matter what i wrote in the *listener* tag (It's probably just a noob problem, i will try and play around today) As for my frustration with building: The areas takes a LOONG time to make compared to NWN1. I know i have to learn it all over again, but i find it hard to build anything. But I'm getting better results today than yesterday, so I'm gonna keep trying. I've made a few test areas, and my first quest, very basic. :) I understand your frustration with tilesets, but believe me, NWN1 had a much easier way of drawing tiles. That's why i did this for hours :wallbash: Another reason for my frustration: Found a great plugin, called Legends quests, a helper to make quest really easy. Unfortunately i couldn't get it to work with mysql amd win7. And that was AFTER i spend two hours reading throught the manual. So another round of :wallbash: - BUT I AM ROLLING NOW !! In the future i hope to build something nice along with other builders. A new question popped up when i read your post: How do you avoid using spoken dialogue in your work ? Thx again Tchos ;) Cheers -
Hi all, I have many newb questions.... Hope to find some experts in here :) I just got started on the nwn2 toolset. Looks great, but compared to Aurora it is very complicated. I managed to make a few areas, and tested different stuff. My problem is this: I make some conversations, pick the cameras and animations. But when i test, the lips on the NPC are not moving. The second problem i have, is that PC says something to a NPC but refuses to face the right direction. Can anyone figure this out ? Aren't the NPC's lips supposed to move, whenever they say something ? And "listener" in the menu, must be the one my PC will face when talking, right ? I DON'T get it !!! Help!!! Please!!! Anyone else that liked the good old Aurora better ?? (Sorry for my bad english) EDIT: NEVERMIND Found out the lip-sync thing. BUT- I'm having way too much trouble creating anything. Thinking about going back to NWN1 - That was so much more fun.
