  1. Here's a suggestion, and I'm not being snarky. I believe premium is $2.99/mo correct? so, instead of paying Nexus $3.00/mo, put it aside, in 1 year, you'll have HALF of the Lifetime Premium fee. If you can double that to $6.00/mo, you'll have $72 at the end of a year, which (if the price is still the same, I heard it may have gone down), will either be enough for Lifetime, or just short by $3.00 1. That's not the point of this thread, or (I highly suspect) Suspiria's post. (Suspiria, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.) The point is that this new change is badgering to the point of driving off people who have supported and helped pay for this website in the past, and might otherwise have again in the future. 2. For someone who isn't affected by this (at the moment at least, although from your posts, I assume you've purchased a lifetime premium account yourself), you're arguing awfully hard against anyone who isn't a current premium member, aka everyone who is affected by this. Like, I've seen your name so many times in these threads already, and I'm skimming and only somewhat keeping up-to-date on every single thread, it's clear that you feel like you have a huge personal stake in this new change, which. Makes no sense. This doesn't affect you. Yet you're making a point of attacking the people who are (quite rightfully, I think) upset over this change. Many of whom (because there are plenty of supporters like myself who are upset by this, as well as current premium users) have helped pay for Nexus in the past, and might have again in the future if not for this badgering and bullying tactic. Why? Why are you attacking so many people over something that doesn't affect you? Why do you have such a clear personal stake in this? Why do you keep (seemingly intentionally) missing the point of other people's posts and responses? Just. Sigh. So, you attack my post where I'm trying to make a helpful suggestion to some. Way to go. He makes a point though, I've seen you doing the same thing on my thread as well, and just like BeneathThePlass I'd like to know what your personal stake in this is?
  2. Frankly, the way you are arguing just makes you look selfish and immature. You were going so well. This reminds me of a little story someone once told me. Not quite a story actually, more of a fact. Say you're staying in a room full of people for an hour. During that whole hour you behave well, speak politely and even start making some friends. All's going well, but at the very last minute, at the very last second, you trip someone over and they fall flat on their face. Well, no one's gonna remember you for the hour you spent being polite, everyone will remember only you being an ass in the end. It's just like what happens when you slide in a little personal attack in the middle of an otherwise very civil and researched post. Anyway I'm far too outnumbered to keep going on here, can't convince a mob alone. See you 'round! That isn't in any way a "fact" its an allegory at most. Why don't you man up, and post your nonsense grievances on your "real" account, and at the same time, pony up for supporter and see what difference that gets you? Anonymous cowards don't really win many arguments, especially when they post absolute rubbish and continue to double down on that nonsense. I don't know, why don't you man up and talk about the topic at hand? The title of this thread should make it clear this conversation is about Nexus' premium advertisements, not about my personal life. So why don't you take your ad hominem and shove it right back where it came from, see what difference that gets you? I mean, since you're so hellbent on discrediting me based on how I have an account with only a handful of comments and you have an old account with several thousand, maybe you'd like to show that you're indeed more aware of its guidelines than I am: EDIT: Nevermind I give up, you actually got me to root for the admins.

  4. Never seen anything good come out of the mouth of someone making "people like you" statements or such variants. This discussion is all fun and games but I'm not going to bother reading anything past that if you're going to keep showing disrespect. Have you had cease and desist letters over the donations? People put those on their mod pages. And by the way I think offering faster download speeds is fine (although deliberately making non-premium download speeds excessively slow is not). My point is there having to be something of value in return for the premium rather than the site being devalued in order to "force" people into buying it.
  5. Back on May 1st, 2012, Nexus Mods had only 3,764,120 members. Today, Nexus Mods has 21,801,730 members. That's roughly an increase of about 2.2 million users per year, every year, for 8 years. And all those users are downloading mods, which takes up bandwidth, and that bandwidth costs a huge amount of money, as outlined on the Expenses page. In other words: the website needs money to run. And if you don't like how it is being run, then offer some constructive criticism. How would you go about making money to run Nexus Mods? What would you, as a user, change to make the site better? How would you improve Premium service so that more people buy in and actually support the site? Well fair enough, I would say tax a reasonable amount from mod donations. And encourage modders to make paid versions of their mods, in order to supply more tax income. That way when you pay for the website you actually get something of value in return, modders get rewarded, and the website gets the money it needs. In my opinion paying for the removal of ads doesn't bring you anything of real value. Instead it's a nuisance that you pay not to have. It's like paying a thug not to break your car's windows every day (see broken window fallacy). The website was made worse than it used to be, and now you have to pay for what you'd otherwise get by default just a few years back. To be fair I'm sure some people here could come up with other ideas that are also better.
  6. How much do you pay a month for your Internet? As premium users, it's means we support the site, and like any other site, want to enjoy the convenience of faster download speeds. Being inconvenienced for 5 seconds on each download is apparently too much to ask of you, so you pine for "Ye Olden Days" of 2017, when things were good. BTW, you have given ZERO Endorsements to any mods, so I doubt your line about Donating to modders carries any weight, I mean, it's ONE BUTTON you can voluntarily press, that you haven't done for three whole years, because you can't even be bothered to do that, in three years you made your first post today, and it was complaining about the site being a little bit more inconvenient to use for YOU, while writing out this Manifesto of "THE NEXUS WE WANT", when it's quite obvious you don't care to participate AT ALL. I bought Lifetime back in 2008, it's more than paid for itself in these 12 years. Man can you believe this, The reason I used a 1 forum post 2017 account to make this thread was specifically for anonymity. Frankly this is why our stats should be hidden, that way we can actually focus on the topic at hand and not derail into these defensive ass "but your account this" accusations that bring nothing to the table. What matters is that we can all agree having invasive premium advertisements all over the place makes this website feel like one of those shady indian websites from which you'd torrent Sony Vegas or the Adobe Suite. It wasn't this way back in the early 10's and it still ran, so the whole "but the website needs money to run" argument is mediocre at best. Also, https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8824178-slow-download-speed-premium/
  7. Who is this "WE" you you keep referring to? It costs money to keep a website online, and since there's so many non-paying users they had to resort to using reminders. You've been a members since 2017, so, three years isn't really a long enough time to reminisce about the "Good days" You pay a monthly internet access bill, or do you use the entire internet for free too? The Nexus doesn't "Owe" you anything. There are now around 18 MILLION Users, and of those 18 Million, there's roughly 200,000 that actually are paying members, that's an incredible amount of bandwidth that 200,000 users are paying for and contributing to while you complain about being inconvenienced for 5 seconds on each download because you want to download all those mods for free. Oh, and that "We'll donate to the modders if we so desire" In THREE YEARS, you have given ZERO Endorsements, you can't even be bothered to do that, so I'm questioning the point about Donating. I find it funny that: a) You side with the people whose job is to separate you from your money, b) You and the others who commented thus far (except for the admin) are premium users, which puts you in a pretty bad position to make any kind of comment on this.
  8. Remember how Nexus used to be? Log in, browse through all the mods you could imagine, not being bothered even just once with "premium" advertisement on the website? Yeah, well that's the Nexus we want, not this blatant money grab some people in the staff have setup. We don't care about faster download speeds or fancy account upgrades, we're here for the mods and we'll donate to the mod authors if we so desire. The more you beg for money the less I'm inclined to give you anything. And by the way, don't give us the "but muh server costs" bullshit. You ran the website for at least a decade without any of this premium crap. Just take it with you and go home, would rather have slow download speeds than seeing this on every page.
