  1. Would this change also change all the standard vanilla skyrim soldiers then? (I'd want a min level for every soldier in the game to be around lvl25) thankyou!!!!
  2. Ok, so I've finished modding my game and am ready for another play through but am trying to change one final thing before I begin. I want to change the minimum level that soldiers spawn at, from the base game and the mods ive added (immersive patrols) . Can this be done in TES5EDIT and if so how? Basically in an ideal world soldiers, both stormcloak and imperials, would be much stronger than they currently are in the default game, as the ones set by immersive patrols quickly become extremely weak in comparison to the permazones encounter zones mod makes all other enemies. So i'm simply looking to change actor values so that soldiers can be made tougher in the late game. How do I go about this, thankyou.
  3. Thankyou so much, I don't have many of them at all so will get right on it! Love the look of the populated series, they seem to place friends and foes far and wide and in the more remote areas I was talking about. Likewise extra encounters reborn also looks fantastic.
  4. Can I ask what monitor you are using to play 4k/1080p as I have a 4k monitor and gtx 1080 and when i play at 1080p the scaling on it makes 1080p look hideous in comparison to an ordinary 1080 monitor.
  5. I last played it about mid 2015 so not too long ago really. But I was previously on windows 7 and used skyui with mcm menus etc. I have USLEEP yes, but I'm getting random crashes even when just using the unofficial patches and booting up the game from Mod Organizer at the minute (I first thought it could be hardware issue but all other games work fine). I just wondered if it might be in some way related to this 4gb limit thing. Upgraded to windows 10 and have since seen many posts about 4gb limits and instability in windows 10 so wondered if anyone else experienced such things thats all.
  6. Hi all, I have just began re-modding skyrim for another playthrough and wanted to ask the opinion of nexus users on whether they prefer modding the game for graphical improvement or gameplay improvement, or a balance of both? It seems every single time I mod skyrim no matter what Rig I use, I always end up at the point where I either sacrifice a gameplay element for a graphical improvement or sacrifice graphics for a gameplay improvement. Now, I'm not complaining about this, it is after all the nature of modding a game and so is understandable. But I am nevertheless interested in others thoughts and whether other people prefer to get their immersion in the form of better graphics or whether they prefer new quests, lands and city overhauls etc. An example of my latest conundrum is that I bought a new monitor and now play in 4k resolution, which admittedly is great, the problem I now have is that despite upgrading my GPU (gtx 1080) the mods I used together at 1080p now push the framerate below what is acceptable to me at 4k and so it looks like I'll have to make a trade off again at some stage (my monitor's upscaling/downscaling is appalling so for some reason playing or watching anything at 1080p looks far far worse than on a normal 1080p monitor so Im forced to play everything in 4k). This time the culprit appears to be the fact that 4k resolution+skyrim hd+smim+jk's skyrim is simply too much even for a very decent rig to handle, unless I'm doing something seriously wrong during set up. I have stumbled across random youtube channels and forum posters around the web that boast of having the kind of skyrim set up that I wish for, (basically a very pretty skyrim enb at high resolution while adding a ton of npc's and town overhauls and still getting reasonable (40fps+) framerates). At this rate I'll be splurging on a second gtx 1080 in order to have that :) :) :)
  7. Hey guys, so I took a break from Skyrim for a while and have recently come back to it after buying a nice new rig to play it with. I keep coming across random information about some new 4gb limit which appears to make my new GPU totally redundant (gtx 1080 8gb vram). Could anyone fill me in briefly on just what this limit is and point me in the direction of further information? I gather no workarounds have been found for it? In a Related note, after playing skyrim vanilla on windows 10 anyway I seem to get more hard crashes and ctd's than ever before regardless of this new limit so I'm beginning to wonder about the compatibility of win 10 and Skyrim altogether....Anyone else had any issues?
  8. I'm looking for some mods that add some life into skyrim, I've got Interesting Npc's and Inconsequential npc's and find both to be brilliant, so anymore along them lines would be especially wonderful, but any good up to date mods that add people or encounters or just generally something/someone new to see while running around skyrim and saving the world for the nth time. I personally prefer to have skyrim overpopulated than underpopulated, even though I realize Skyrim is supposed to be a sparse land I still prefer to add more diversity to it and fill it with new stuff because it gets boring after the 50th playthrough. So this time I'm setting out to find the perfect combination of npc adding mods combined with city and town overhauls that will make skyrim feel fresh and alive (whilst hopefully not destroying every navmesh in the game). I am also looking for mods that fill in some blank spots in skyrim (I've never been able to make up my mind between JK's Skyrim and ETAC for the big mods but haven't really found mods that cover the more remote areas). I have just built a new rig (6700k + gtx 1080 + 4k monitor) and am keen to have another pop at creating a new skyrim to do yet another playthrough, and so if anyone could recommend any encounter mods, people mods with no limit to how much they add I would greatly appreciate some fellow modders opinions. I can't be the only one who loves watching all the new npc's go out exploring just like me and coming across random battle scenes while out on patrol can i?
  9. Hi all, I've recently been configuring my mod list for a new playthrough which Im hoping to start in the near future. Now normally I follow STEP and then add on some mods of my own choosing afterwards, complete with any necessary patches obviously, and it all works fine. Specifically the Dual Sheath Redux part has never thrown up any problems, until now. Basically my shield appears under my feet constantly and when any weapon is assigned to the left hand or two swords are equipped one in each hand, the weapon sheath also appears under the feet pointing forwards. I have consulted a host of different sources which suggested this must be because of missing skeleton (the Dual Sheath Redux nexus page suggests this) but I have installed XP32 Maximum Skeleton along with realistic ragdolls and force and made absolutely sure they are installed in the correct order and then ran DSR afterwards. I have both Helgen Reborn and Gray Cowl of Nocturnal installed and am using patches for them and DSR too. So I am finally posting here in the hope some kind fellow on the Nexus may be able to at least suggest something else that I try before such a pesky little thing threatens a rather extensively modded potential playthrough that I was highly looking forward to. Perhaps a mod on my modlist that I didn't think of could be the cause? My current modlist can be found here.... http://www.modwat.ch/u/tjtempsy Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the information. What is it I should be looking for in the XML that specifically points to bound weapon damage? I've found a few references to Bound Weapons but can't seem to locate any damage modifiers. The reason I thought it was OP was because I seemed to be getting access to these spells very early on (level one) and needing very little mana to cast them, which meant from pretty much the beginning of the game I was walking around with a 120 second long daedric battleaxe that kills most enemies in half a swing. Maybe the problem is the levelled lists containing the spell (books) too early and/or their being modified to be used at lower levels by something. Anything thanks alot for the help, if I get this sorted I may just have found a Load Order I'm satisfied with enough to really play through again. Seem to spend far more time modding the game than actually playing it these days...
  11. The spells are novice level and/or alteration level and are castable at any level although i normally have to add a few numbers to my magicka pool to be able to cast them. But regardless when my mods are all on, barring only the Patcher (or no mods at all and just the base game) the damage of the first "Bound Sword" or "Bound Bow" is roughly the same as an Iron weapon or lower. This can be made better by getting perks from the Conjuration tree and the One-Handed/Two Handed tree which should, by about level 25 and with master level in each category, make the bound weapons as strong as daedric. Problem is, whenever Patchus Maximus is activated, the bound spells seem to give me a usable bound weapon spell with extreme damages often higher than daedric weapons which at level 1 is insane and means most enemies are killed with barely a tap of the mouse button. Something within Patchus Maximus is picking up the bound weapons values and forcing them to be their "master-level" equivalents. Problem is i'm not familiar with how the patcher works well enough to even begin to know where to look for such code or whatever. I first encountered the problem by obtaining the spells as normal from vendors throughout skyrim. But for bug testing since ive just been spawning them through the console. But I always spawn the Books, not the spells themselves, as I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct spell each time.
  12. So....I just decided to add and remove mods until I came up with a culprit. The thing is, when Patchus Maximus is disabled, then ALL mods work fine and all bound weapons do the correct damages (e.g the same as iron or below until you get better at conjuration and get better spells). However as soon as Patchus Maximus is activated (re-ran it countless times) then the bound weapons automatically equal Daedric in damage even at novice level. So it is SOMETHING the patch is doing that is causing the problem.
  13. 'm not sure whether your 1k is dollars or pounds but for 1k GBP you could easily get a system that would play Skyrim at max with a large amount of mods. I would also recommend PCpartpicker. It helped me put together my new rig very recently and its the first rig i've built where I've been satisfied with being able to run all the mods that I desire without eating into performance too much. For Skyrim most importantly you want the obvious, a good Graphics card, a powerful CPU (number of cores doesn't matter but higher speed is preferable). Lastly something you will only want if you plan on using a TON of texture mods is a fast (faster than normal) SSD or better yet PCI-SSD or RamDisk. Those would allow for smoother transition between texture-rich environments and much shorter loading times which can be game breaking for some. All in all, you can run Skyrim at full whack without mods with any mid range computer of today in my opinion. But if you want to add lots of texture packs and potentially some script heavy mods too, then even today skyrim can bring systems to their knees without a very powerful CPU and GPU. Off the top of my head I'd go for something like a gtx 780/780ti (or higher) and an i5/i7 with a samsung ssd.
  14. OK I started a new game and re-ordered modlist as your advice. It now looks like this. http://modwat.ch/temjam#/plugins What seems to be happening is that all "Bound" Spells are immediately upgrading or being spawned at their highest potency. So without any perks at all, a novice bound dagger spell was producing a bound dagger of equal strength to a daedric dagger. Now I've not played a none-modded skyrim for a very long time but I'm positive that this behavior is not normal and if I remember in the base game your bound spells got better as you got better at conjuration and purchased more powerful spells... Some mod then is affecting bound weapon spells and making them all the strongest versions that they can be. Or at least that is what it looks like to me. But perhaps I'm missing something obvious.
  15. Ok so this is a long shot given that my load order is pretty extensive.....But for anyone thats followed S.T.E.P and a few step packs with Perma added at the end, I wonder if anyone else has encountered a similar error to the one I am getting and might at least be able to point me in the right direction towards fixing it.... Basically all of my BOUND weapons are hugely overpowered, like something is editing them to be x3 or x4 strength. Normal weapons are unaffected and seem to have perfectly fine base damages and damages. But my level 2 character has a bound dagger (looks daedric) with 69 damage and a bound battleaxe that does 160 damage which seems insanely strong when all other weapons seem to do between 15-30..... In my best guess, it must be either a magic mod or perk mod that i'm using that is affecting it. I shall post my load order below in case anyone sees anything that immediately stands out to them. I am about ready to start offering prizes to solve the problem as correcting and setting up this playthrough took so long that I really would give up if I had to start again..and this doesn't seem like an unfixable error so hopefully someone may have come across similar or know which mod i should de-activate or edit. I have the 'fluffed' version of Perma so never really know what the actual perks do (ill be changing to defluffled from now on) but the game has become ridiculous when im one-hit-killing nearly everything at level 2. The normal weapons in the game e.g daedric battleaxe etc all seem to have normal stats, but all the bound weapons are massively overpowered like something is giving them a huge boost.,..any idea what this might be? Here is my LO... http://modwat.ch/temjam#/plugins I just have no idea what could be causing it or how I can change it somehow to save this playthrough, or will i need to just start over ?
  16. Hi all, Myself and a friend have recently been attempting to totally overhaul Skyrim through the use of an extreme amount of mods. After a few weeks of testing and editing and sorting and merging etc we have a pretty extensive overhaul (gameplay-wise) that I think changes nearly every aspect of the game and makes playing it feel like new. Naturally it is to our own personal tastes but we were going to publish it somewhere so that it may help other with similar designs and intentions for skyrim in the future. However... We've tested the game for many hours and been to most places on the map without a single CTD, BUT Neither of us ever play as a thief character or have much time for the city of Riften so purely by chance, we managed to forget about it altogether when testing and just assumed that because everywhere else (literally the other 95% of the map we tested) receives 0 CTD's that it would be fine. SO...I was about to post the modlist and small guide online when I thought bugger it I will go have a mess around in Riften and cause some havok. Problem is....I can't get there.....I enabled borders to display in the Skyrim console and whenever I cross the border within which the Riften City Cell is located, the game immediately crashes to Desktop. Furthermore I have tried this from every angle, approaching from any and all directions and it always crashes immeditaly upon crossing the border. I have coc'd to Riften and can walk around the actual city itself fine, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with Riften's actual inner city (which at the moment is a merged combination of Dawn Of Riften and Jk's Riften). Does anyone have any clue of what might cause this, or a method of further testing that I may have missed. Naturally I don't expect anyone to want to sift through what is a very very long modlist (it is designed to be for the tutorial). but if anyone might have had similar issues and found a mod responsible then that would be a great help as it will literally takes days maybe even weeks to sift through every single mod in my modlist at the moment (not least because some are merged and edited). I will post the current list that I muck about on just in case anyone wants a look, but its not the final list for the tutorial i would later be posting online because it only contains the stuff I personally like to playthrough with. I imagine the eventual tutorial will contain 500 plugins merged down to 250 (Not including Graphics mods, which are to each individual persons tastes). http://modwat.ch/jamtem#/plugins The list^ is pretty script heavy, but seems to function in most places, though naturally requires a farily decent setup (i7 4790k w/ 980gtx OC). Thanks for any help provided
  17. As a little bump, my friend ordered himself a new screen (1440p) along with some new peripherals and is enjoying Skyrim anew once again so thanks for the help. In other news, my own personal crazy mission to uber-mod skyrim has begun as i've just ordered a 4790k (h110gt cooled) and gtx 980 (oc) so I will be reporting back on how many texture mods and npc adding mods I can manage on these new specs. Note: i realize the engine has limits, but it seems these limits are still being pushed back and beaten every day (enboost/sheson etc etc), and so I decided a new system can't hurt when desiring a mod setup consisting of things like: A slew of very high resolution texture mods STEP Extended Perkus Maximus Immersive Armors/Weapons Skyrim Immersive Creatures (SIC) Interesting Npcs + Inconsequenial Npcs + Populated roads/cities/dungeons etc All of Jk's town mods with Dawn of Series Merged Falskaar + Wyrmstooth + STEP PACK REGS QUESTS Other town + land enhancing mods I've heard it can be done, and I'm eager and willing to put some effort into finding out. One thing is for sure, modding skyrim is without doubt the most addictive pc experience i've ever come across.
  18. Thankyou for your replies, and yes, i wasn't looking for a computer that could run Skyrim maxed out per-se, as I know exactly what that is. I was more asking if the Skyrim engine has a limit that is currently possible to reach with modern pc components. I have fiddled with the ini settings a few times but it really doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever to my game, has anyone else experienced this? I still hear people talking about Skyrim having a 3.1gb limit, but I thought someone had found a way to circumvent this through SKSE? I guess to put it more bluntly (and hypothetically). If someone created a (hypothetical) mod tomorrow that retextured the entire game with 4-8k textures, quadrupled the number of npcs, doubled the number of quests and added 1000+weather types and effects......would the Skyrim engine be the limit or is it feasible that if not now then in the future a pc spec would be possible to run it? It may be a silly question its just something I've always wondered. I know the Skyrim engine has limits, I just wonder if anyone has actually fully HIT them all yet.
  19. I did try it out quite extensively, but perhaps i've missed something really obvious? I had project Enb i think, along with most of the S.T.E.P guide's textures. One thing i am a fan of is mods that add npc's to the game and so ive often added tons of these, including interesting npcs, inconsequential npcs and a whole host of other npc and creature adding mods, and these really eat away at performance (does Skyrim have a script limit for npcs because that might be the cause?). But nothing I could find could explain my less than satisfactory level of performance so whilst i've tried everything to get my system to perform better I eventually concluded that as I was soon to be upgrading anyway, i would write here and ask for people's opinion on the IDEAL pc for skyrim. I realize there are lots and lots of more than satisfactory setups these days. But my question is firstly, Is it possible to run skyrim with EVERY HIGHEST texture pack along with huge environment adding mods and the maximum non-conflicting npc adding mods together on todays machines. I mean like what computer would be necessary to run S.T.E.P at its highest settings along with every imaginable npc mod, perkus maximus, some huge quest mods like falksaar and wyrmstooth and any other maximum quality textures i can find. I realize some may find what I am saying a little quirky and perhaps asking too much, but its been my dream for years (as i am sure it has many other peoples) to own a pc in which I can run the skyrim modded version that I would really like to see, without having to sacrifice anything at all. I have been willing to sift through hours of mod sorting and conflict resolving to get a very high standard of skyrim in both looks and feel to my tastes and was even willing to help people out in that regard, but i guess i'm now looking to further that even more by really trying to push the skyrim engine to its absolute limits (assuming it has them). I'm just not as clued up about pc components as I am skyrim modding (and there is still lots i have to learn in that department too) so could use a little help there. Budget is no issue as when I upgrade I tend to go all out (rightly or wrongly, and within reason) and then not upgrade for years afterwards. So i guess its more of an, "in an ideal world what pc would you have to mod skyrim with every POSSIBLE texture and setting and added mod to its MAXIMUM setting". Call it a rhetorical question if you will but it interests me none the less.
  20. About 6 months ago i purchased a new pc build in order to improve skyrim performance. going from a measly old Amd athlon processor to an Amd fx8350 (@4.5ghz) and from a radeon 5770 to a radeon r9 290. Note, I am not a fan of AMD, but at the time, these parts happened to be on offer and made any other purchase look silly in terms of price to performance. Of course the performance was a massive jump, but perhaps not quite as much as I had hoped for. My question is, I have heard that skyrim can be fairly unkind to AMD users (is this true?) and so would like to ask on behalf of myself and a friend and myself (in the future) what pc specs fellow skyrim users would pick if they were to build the "ultimate" skyrim gaming pc? And yes i do know people have different preferences and loyalties, but its a simple question, and one which might help a great many people looking to at least get somewhere near skyrim in-game bliss even when a hefty amount of mods and textures are installed. So....A friend recently asked me, if he had roughly £2000 ($3000) and wanted to build a computer purely to play Skyrim and install an OVERKILL amount of mods, what should he get? I want to point out that although it could be said that money is not a big factor in this, i would rather edge towards a 'within reason' budget, aka not including 10k 2x intel xeon with 4 way sli style computers which are out of reach for the majority of people. The last reason I ask is because it may answer my separate question of whether i should switch to Intel processors (and which type the Haswell-E or the Haswell?) for my own Skyrim playthroughs because I also dream of playing skyrim with ALMOST EVERY highest res texture installed and a gargantuan amount of mods installed (merged to avoid the 255 limit of course!). Many Thanks for any help
