  9. The ginger arrived at the docks, surprised to see them lacking the redhead woman whose crew she joined. She wasn't completely sure about the whole becoming-a-pirate plan, but right now it was the best way to get two things she needed: to get out of Kirkwall and get some money. Starting to think the captain'd already set sail and left without her, the elf clenched her backpack tightly, leaning on her staff as she tried to seem normal and stay out of sight. Damn it, she even gave the captain her name in that letter and acted all friendly to try to get her to agree on taking her as a memeber of her crew. If the captain does show up eventually, she'll have to ask her not to address her with her name. Elf, knife-ear, healer, whichever, she didn't care, just as long as she didn't call her Alaila. Thinking about her poor herbs closed in jars, the woman leaned against the nearest wall with a sigh, looking down the street in hope of spotting the readhead. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fletcher woke up in the morning to find the two girls from last night still lying in his bed, sleeping. Waking them up when he moved the thin blanket to half-reveal their bodies, he got up out of bed and pulled on his pants, throwing a bored look towards the girls. The blonde one with quite the assets was followed his example and picked her dress from the floor, throwing a few more glances in the man's direction. He may have been at least 10 years older than both her and her brunette friend, but the number of scars he had backed up his experience and the lacking loss of mobility. "Come on, Sarah, up you go." The blonde woke up her still sleeping friend and threw her dress on her while she searched for her shoes, resisting the urge to throw them on her dumb friend, as well. Despite having the reputation of a blonde, she wasn't the dumb one here. He was a mercenary of some sort and had quite a reputation in the inn, since all the employees knew better than to provoke him, including the old and ill-tempered bartender. And he was that kind of man that wanted to be left alone after he got what he wanted. "Sarah, come on. You really are the dumbest of them all, not to mention the slowest." The brunette finally got out of bed and dressed up, being dragged away by her blonde friend who was still eying the Anders when she tried to say something to him. Fletcher patiently waited for the two women to leave, glad the blonde had enough brain not to let her friend speak with him. He may have been in a good mood and interested in the job he was about to get, but he never did have patience to speak to women without slitting their throat after becoming bored and/or frustrated. So when the women left, the assassin let Ouray in, knowing the hawk prefered to stay outside during the night and never leave his side during the day. The Anders got another message from his employer and was about to head out today, to the old meeting spot. If this job was paid so well, there also was a catch as large as the sum he will be paid once the job is finished. So hiring a few mercenaries to serve as cannon fodder would be a good idea, since they'll all die, one way or the other, so paying them won't actually be necessary. But that can wait...details, first.
  10. The ginger elf looked over the empty and deserted house which looked like no one's been in it for days except for some plants sitting in every corner. She knew her loved flowers and plants will die while she's away, but bringing them all with her really wasn't a choice. Her backpack contained a few packs of berries, a large collection of healing herbs, a knife, a little hand shovel, some thread for tying the herbs when she was drying them, mortar and pestle and a few glass jars for when they were again on the land, so she could refreshen her supplies. After a few seconds of trying to make up her mind and pacing forward and back, the elf took out three jars out of the backpack and filled them with earth, leaving 2/3 of the jar empty. She then proceeded to plant the most vital herbs in the jars and closed the jars, piercing holes in the lid of the jars so the herbs could breathe. Statisfied she could at least bring that little of her plants, she put the jars carefully in the backpack, again making sure she took everything she needed. In addition to her first aid kit composed of herbs, both fresh and dried, the woman filled the remaining empty space of the backpack with clothes, mainly ones for summer, a woolen sweater, few pieces of fabric should anything get torn, a needle and thread, another pack of berries though the ship should have its own supplies and tied the backpack, making sure it was as tight as it gets without crushing the glass jars. It was about everything she needed to survive out there in the wilds, since the forest provided for those who knew what to search for. After hanging the backpack on her shoulders, the ginger also hanged a waterskin with fresh water around her, put the dagger on her belt and took her mage staff which looked like a nicely crafted walking staff. It was hot outside, but she still put on her cloak with a hood on, leaving her face exposed while she was still in town. A hooded elf would only attract more attention to herself, and attention wasn't something she needed. Throwing one last look at her childhood home, Alaila walked out and closed the doors, knowing she won't ever return, with her mother or without. There wasn't anything in Kirkwall holding her back, not anymore. And if she got some money from that treasure hunt, she could...hire someone to track her mother, a ranger or a...but that would have to wait. After all, who is to say she'll even survive the whole treasure hunt? Quietly with a firm step, the elf slowly started making her way out of the Alienage and towards the docks, avoiding meeting anyone's eyes. Few of the elves threw a curious look in her direction, but stopped paying attention to her after a while, already used to the ginger woman sneaking out of the city to look for herbs. And so she left the Alienage the same way she returned just a few days before, without anyone noticing her arrival and departure.
  11. Oh man, returning from a vacation sucks. Sure, sure, I'll go over all 77 comments....maker.
  12. Posting it here, as well, just to be sure. I'm going away for a week on a vacation, so you won't be hearing from me. Anyways, Steffi knows what to do with Al since I sent her a message and Fletcher will be on hold for now since he's waiting for something anyway. Have fun, guys!
  13. Hey guys, just a little update from me...I'm going on a vacation tomorrow (which I found out today...gotta love my family) to the seaside and I'll be without internet connection for about a week, maybe a bit more. Anyways, Mythic gets Sefris and Neth can have Ane or have her follow around like a robot. Don't have too much fun without me ;D And ouch. Almost lost my laptop to overheating, as well >_<
  14. Anemone followed Othos with Avira on her shoulder to the inn, immediately smiling at the sight. It's not been long since she last was in such a jolly atmosphere, but it was long enough for her to forget the feeling. Careful not to step on anybody, the genasi eventually made her way to a table that looked at least relatively clean, deciding it would be for the best not to order anything. The raven landed next to the woman and sat on the table, still seemingly grumpy because she was a bit wet from the rain. "Everybody seems to be having a blast." Ane said cheerfully to Othos, glancing in the genasi's direction as she took off her hat and put it next to the bird. -------------- Sefris glanced irritatedly at the orc, clapping in an overly dramatic manner. "My, my, an orc with a sense of humor. I thought they usually died young. It is not a surprise for one such as you, one focused so much on being a barbarian and chopping his way with an axe, to underestimate arcane power and those skilled in it such as I." the fey-ri replied poisonously, scoffing silently. She did feel like tearing someone's head off after the little 'chat' with their newest member, but fighting an orc? Ugh. She wouldn't be able to get the smell out of her clothes for days. "Mind over matter." the half-demoness added before continuing to walk down the hall, opening the first doors on the left. Empty, too small and pathetic-looking. She closed the doors a few seconds later, not considering such a room fit for her needs.
  15. Seeing how quick the woman was to recruit people she didn't know anything about, Alaila suspected there would be no troubles joining her crew. She wasn't without her skills and a healer - an herbalist, that is; she won't give away her magical abilities - is a practical person to have around, especially on a ship. She just needed to approach her when she was alone, there were far too many people around. Not to mention that templar. For now, she was just an elf quietly enjoying her tea. Eventually the older bartender she was waiting for appeared and the ginger gave him the conconctions along with a few herbs and payed for her drink from the money he gave her, finishing it in one sip. She had a plan and work to do. How to get out of this city without attraction anybody's attention. It will require some risk, but being away from the templars on a ship is not a high price to pay. Neatly setting the mug down on the counter, the elf picked up her now empty basket and exited the tavern, heading back to her house. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Few hours later, as arranged, the man was sitting in a small tavern in the very corner of the room, hood over most of his face and smoking a pipe. The hawk was sternly placed next to his master on a chair, not minding the smoke as his sharp eye watched everyone who dared pass too close by. A few minutes after sitting down, a young waitress soon made her way to the man's table, bringing him his drink. "Your ale, sir. And a message." The ranger paid no attention to the woman which simply left after gathering the coin he'd prepared on the table, reaching for the message first, unwrapping the little paper: "I was not disappointed by your little show, Wolf. It's what they called you back in the Anderfels, right? You needn't persume hostility towards me just because poked around first. But I see you are as ruthless as the rumors say, and I can say I'm glad. The money will be waiting for you at the regular checkpoint, and I have a new job, if you're interested. I am willing to pay whichever sum you deem satisfying should you be able to accomplish this little job for me. It doesn't involve assassination, but retrieving a precious little something. Should anyone stand in your way, you're the best in disposing unwanted company. Should you be interested, I will find you at the same spot when I first contracted you within five days." The Anders crumpled the message and put it in his pipe, burning the paper. Whichever sum, hmm? Now that must be something really big the contracter wants. No doubt there will be people after it, as well. But the hunt only made it much more interesting. He eventually decided to stay at the tavern for a few days, paying the whole sum in advance before taking the key and making his way upstairs. His daggers can't ever be too sharp, after all.
