I did notice that Vortex does put the mods installed into folders into the the Data folder with the esp's and esm's in them just like the author of the forum you sent me said. I tried removing those folders, but Vortex adds them back in every time Vortex is ran again. I don't know if this is the thing I should have done, but I don't entirely understand the method the author of Vortex and Oblivion, an experiment to make Vortex work with Oblivion.

Hey, thanks for responding. My game is through Steam. Yes, I do have OBSE, and it was working as far as I know before the crashes started happening. I have used LOOT to sort my mods, and I get a few messages concering TES4Edit, but I don't know what they mean. I also had no idea that I had Vim and Vigor. I don't think I want it, so what is the best way to uninstall it? Also, I might want to add that I first started experiencing this problem after I downloaded Vortex and ran Oblivion through it as one of the managed games. Before then, every mod I had in the load order was working without the COBL plugins. I have not tried that yet, and would that require uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I also did download and install MessageLogger, but it is not working and nothing is appearing in MessageLog.txt.

Hello. I have had this problem for months and tried to fix it several times, but I either gave up or couldn't find the solution. The problem I am having is a crash on startup that manifests itself as a small black window in the upper-left hand corner of the screen and then disappears after clicking "Play" in the launcher. I have disabled mods to check and see which one might have been the culprit but that never worked. I even had the crash after disabling all mods and only leaving the Oblivion master files and official DLC files checked. At one point, I was told on another forum to install COBL since most of my mods seems to require it, but doing so also did nothing. I can't say I know where to go next, and I hope that if someone is willing, they might help me. I have all of the data files like Cobl Main.esm, Cobl Glue.esp, Cobl Races.esp, Cobl Si.esp, ad Cobl Tweaks.esp. Do I need every one of these, or are some unnecessary by looking at my load order? What about the other missing master you mentioned ... VVAdvanced.esm ? Edit - I use See You Sleep DLL myself (the masterless version). Haven't ever tried the one you are using so I can't say whether there are any differences but the DLL version does say it's an update to the one you're using. I added VVAdvanced.esm to my data files but I still get the crash as before. Everything has been up since I ran Oblivion through Vortex.

If you've not been successful launching Oblivion using the Oblivion executables directly, then the problem clearly is something other than your mod manager. Load order (as has already been mentioned)? Missing masters? Texture file problems? It says that p1dseeyousleep - vvadvanced.esp despends on Cobl Main.esm and VVAdvanced.esm and that they are not enabled.

Hello, I've been having this problem fairly recently. Ever since I ran Oblivion through Vortex (choosing it from Games and then managing it), it has started crashing every time I press play from the launcher or run Oblivion.exe. Once I launch it, a small black window appears in the upper left part of the screen and then disappears after a few seconds. I am not sure if this is a Vortex problem or my game problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I have disabled those mods, but I still get the same problem. I am still able to examine the book once I've closed it when my inventory freezes though.

I did install some new textures for books before this started to happen. As well as Smoking Torches and Armor of Intrigue, but I don't know why this would happen.

I've been having this issue that happens every time I'm done reading a note or book. Once I have closed the book or are done reading a note, my inventory seems to freeze and I cannot select or mouse over any other items. If I do click the screen, however, this fixes it. I know this isn't a huge problem, but is there anyway I can fix this? Maybe have you experienced it? I have found out that this only seems to happen when I click the book to read it instead of pressing E to read.
