  1. Hello all, After much trial and error I finally have my modded Witcher 3 game almost perfect. I've installed pretty much all the mods I want, except for a couple small fixes here and there that I'm planning on installing later on during my playthrough. I managed to fix my crashing issues by limiting my frame rate to 52 both in Witcher 3 User.Settings and in NVIDIA Control Panel. It seems that, at least for me, Witcher 3 really doesn't like 60 or higher FPS. Whenever I would play on 60+ FPS I would crash every 20 to 30 minutes regardless of which mods I had installed, if any, and regardless of my graphic settings. Needless to say I'm thrilled to finally have my game stable and just be able to enjoy playing one of my favorite games ever. However, I am experiencing two problems that I would greatly appreciate some help with. As it says in the title, I'm experiencing noticeable screen tearing even with Vsync on. The only thing that has successfully eliminated the screen tearing is to play in Borderless Window mode instead of Fullscreen. While there's not exactly anything wrong with playing in Borderless Window, especially since it doesn't seem to be affecting my performance, like it does for some others, but I'd still rather play in Fullscreen mode if possible. I've tried turning off Vsync in NVIDIA Control Panel and just using Witcher 3's Vsync. I've tried disabling the Vsync in Witcher 3 and using NVIDIA Control Panel's Vsync. I've tried enabling Vysnc for all programs in NVIDIA Control Panel. I've tried having Vsync on and setting the frame rate limiter in Witcher 3's meun to unlimited as well as setting it at 60 and 30. I've essentially tried all variations of enabling/disabling NVIDIA's Vysnc and enabling/disabling Witcher 3's Vsync that I can think of, but no matter what I do the only thing that fully eliminates the screen tearing is playing in Borderless Window mode. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how I can eliminate the screen tearing while still being able to play in Fullscreen I would greatly appreciate it. I should also mention that this isn't the only game I'm experiencing this exact same issue in. I've been playing Kingdoms of Amular Re-Reckoning lately and in that game as well I experience very noticeable screen tearing regardless of whether or not I have Vsync activated. The only thing that eliminates the screen tearing in that game is to play in Borderless Window + Vsync. I'm guessing that there must be some setting in NVIDIA Control Panel I've enabled or disabled, globally, that's the cause, but I have no idea what that setting might be. So I would be incredibly grateful for any help. The second problem I'm having is with my Xbox controller. I much prefer to play Witcher 3 and similar games with a controller than a keyboard. I'm able to use my wireless Xbox controller to play other games such as Witcher 2 and Kingdoms of Amular Re-Reckoning, no problem, but with the Witcher 3 I can't use my wireless controller. Thankfully, I have another controller, a wired one that looks just like an Xbox controller, but isn't an official Xbox controller. I purchased it from Amazon and Witcher 3 recognizes that controller, but not the wireless ones. Both my controllers are detected by my computer and by Steam, but when I try using the wireless one while playing Witcher 3 nothing happens. For some reason the computer and steam are recognizing my wireless Xbox controller, but Witcher 3 isn't. I don't have any mods installed that directly effect controllers so I don't know if a mod is the problem or not. Once again, I would greatly appreciate any helpful ideas and suggestions as to what the problem might be and how to fix this issue. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read my post and offer any fixes you can think of. XD
  2. Hello all, Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I've played it multiple times on PS4, I've played it multiple times on the Switch because even though the graphics are nowhere near as good it's still the same game and it's truly incredible that they managed to fit such a massive game on the Switch and have it play flawlessly, and I've played it on the PC. I've taken a long break from modding games such as Skyrim and Witcher 3 because as much as I absolutely adore those games and the finished product of having a modded game run well, getting a modded game to run well is often a huge pain, and I was getting tired of spending so much of my time dealing with problems and trying to make the modded game work instead of just playing the game. With all that said, here I am again. I love Witcher 3 and I really want to play a modded version. I'm using a lot less mods for Witcher than I used for Skyrim, somewhere between 20 and 30. I have a purely vanilla version of Witcher 3 saved as a backup in case I run into problems. I'm using the Mod Limit Fix patch in my game and I'm also running Script Merger. I have a decent amount of experience with modding, but I'm new to modding Witcher 3 and I could really use some help to figure out exactly what the problem is and how to fix it. Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to read my post and offer helpful suggestions. Below is all the information about my Rig, the mods I have installed, as well as a copy of the crash log. My Rig: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080. Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 4.20GHz, 4201 Mhz. 4 Cores. 8 Logical Processors. 1080P. 75.002Hz. 64GB RAM. 8GB VRAM. Windows 10 Pro. No Overclocking. Running Steam and Witcher 3 off of a Samsung 960 Pro SSD. I'm able to play Witcher 3 with Ultra Settings and get 60FPS steadily. My computer has been running hot when playing Witcher 3 which is something else I'm in the process of working on/fixing. But otherwise my rig still runs like brand new, everything works great, I'm able to play a heavily modded Skyrim at 60FPS, Witcher 3 on Ultra at 60FPS as I said, Evil Within 2, The new release of Kingdoms of Amular:Reckoning, AC: Origins, AC: Odyssey, Final Fantasy Online etc all running perfectly smooth with no problems aside from the computer running a little too hot when playing Witcher 3. Here is a list of the mods I have installed: >Community Base Patch/ Bootstrap Patch/ Shared Imports > Witcher HD Reworked > Preparations >9000 Carry Limit >Slots Slots Slots >Random Encounters Reworked >Real Economy >Fera's Roach Overhaul >Intro Story Disabled >Realistic Eyes >Friendly Wolves >New Hairstyle for Geralt >Less Indignant NPCs >Loot Drops Don't Sparkle >Magic Spells >Shades of Iron >New Clouds - Mixed >No Dirty Lens Effect >Sensible Map Borders >Peasant Pants Dirty - Replaces those ugly shorts with pants >Butcher of Blaviken - Texture Mod for Geralt >Skellige Winter Weather > Meadows - Grass Mod > Tweaks - Allows you to edit Graphic Settings like Grass Density in game. > Unlimited Oxygen > Warmly Dressed Skelligers > Wolf Experience - Adjusts the amount of XP needed to level up. > Phoenix Ultimate & the latest Re-Shade I haven't installed Nitpicker's Patch, but I would like to. I just want to figure out my current problem before introducing another mod. If you see any obvious incompatibilities or a mod that is known to cause problems or crashes, please let me know. I'd truly appreciate any help and input. Here is the crash log: Thank you again. I'm really looking forward to hopefully getting this figured out soon so that I can just enjoy playing a modded version of one of my favorite games.
  3. Hi everyone, Recently I've run in the oddest problem & no matter what I do, I can't seem to find a fix. For some reason, all the textures in my game are the lowest possible resolution and it's being forced by something. I didn't choose them to be low-resolution. I've always had them medium-high quality and haven't had a single problem regarding textures since I bought Skyrim close to 2 years ago. Now, the textures look utterly horrible - they have never looked this bad. My texture quality is set to high in Skyrim's Launcher options. I haven't touched or changed a thing through Nvidia inspector. The proper ini tweaks to ensure that the higher resolution textures are used rather than the low-resolutions ones are in place. This problem isn't limited to the vanilla textures, it's effecting all the custom textures from various texture mods as well. I did, recently, edit a couple of lines in the Skyrim.ini's in hopes of improving performance even though my game does run smoothly. I figured a couple extra fps couldn't hurt. Regardless, I edited too many ini lines at once so that particular save would crash immediately after loading. Now, in that save, for the brief minute before it crashed, the textures were normal. However, since this was a test playthrough I had no problem starting a new game so that I could play with the new ini tweaks. This is when the problems began. In the new game the textures looked horrible, despite them looking good on the previous test playthrough with the exact same ini tweaks. I started trying various things to get them looking normal again. The few ini tweaks regarding textures that I changed I reverted back to what they'd previously been. No improvements. I reinstalled a couple of individual texture mods to see if the information had been corrupted. They still looked horrible. I thought that I may have optimized them too much. It was a long shot as I hadn't optimized them since before the textures looked good, but I installed the textures from the backup folder - non-optimized. No improvement. Finally, I did a complete uninstall and clean install of the game, thinking something may have been corrupted. I started a new game, played through the Helgen opening with no mods installed at all. Created a hard save after 24 hrs in game and installed a single texture mod that alters the ground floor so it was easy for me to see if it looked like it should. No such luck. It still looks like crap. I can't find any solutions or help searching on goggle as the only threads that show up from people who have had this issue have AMD cards and their fixes are specifically suited for AMD cards and I have a Nvidia card. I apologize for the wall of text, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible in hopes of someone knowing the solution. Any help or suggestions that you could offer, I would greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance. Here are my specs: Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX 660m 2gb vram 8gb ram Core i7 Windows 7 Update: Something I should add. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 which caused my drivers to revert to the ones that were initially installed with the laptop when I'd bought it and I'd forgotten to update my Nvidia drivers after that doing that clean install. After checking tonight, I realized that my driver version was 269.01 [around there] which is quite old. Just in case it was somehow corrupted and could be the cause of this low textures issues, not to mention since I was getting smooth performance with the older driver, I imagine I'll get even smoother performance with the update, I updated it to 314.22. Even with the new, stable, driver installed the texture issue remains. Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about Skyrim's vanilla textures, saying that they don't look good or aren't high enough quality. I'm saying that the textures in my Skyrim have always been a rather high quality, even the vanilla ones, before I ever installed any textures or mods. My game has always looked beautiful. Now, for some reason, every single texture in the game changed - the ones that were 2048 and 1024 now look like they are 512 or even less. The custom ones, the vanilla ones all look terrible. The custom ones are clearly overwriting the vanilla ones as they should, but their high quality is being repressed by something. I've tried and exhausted every method I can think of to make them look how they should again. Everything that I had changed the days before it changed, I changed back, even things that are in no way related to textures. I have done a clean install of Skyrim to get rid of anything that may have gotten corrupted during my test run. I have updated my drivers to a driver that is known to be stable and have improved performance for Skyrim. I have reverted the settings in Nvidia control to their default, even though the few settings that I changed in there, were not related to textures in any way. The options in the Skyrim Launcher are what they should be, with the texture quality set to high. The ini tweaks in Skyrim ini and Skyrim Prefs that are related to textures and are supposed to tell the game to choose and use the higher texture option if it exists, are in place. I have even reverted things back to their default that I haven't touched for months, long before this issue occurred, in a desperate attempt to fix this. Nothing has worked. I'm at my wits end. I'm aware that Skyrim isn't solely about pretty graphics, but the way the game looks is unbearable, especially considering how stunning it has looked in the past. I apologize for the repetition about the various things I have tried, but I just want to, again, provide as much detail as possible, and be sure that I'm being perfectly clear about exactly what my issue is. I have family and friends coming over for the holidays who appreciate games like Skyrim and are looking forward to seeing it on the tv in the family room, but with the way it looks now, that won't be happening - that is the reason why I'd appreciate a solution as soon as possible so my family and I can enjoy it together when they arrive. So please, if anyone has any ideas or solutions or suggestions or anything I'd be extremely grateful. I'll even bake you holiday cookies, chocolate chip or sugar cookies, your choice. Just please help me out.
  4. Hi everyone. In the past couple days I've come across a new problem. Just when I thought I had Skyrim stable and could finally play it something else happens. Isn't that just the way it goes. Anyway, this is a type of crashing that has never happened to me before and as such I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to fix it. After not being able to fix this problem when it first started I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of Skyrim and choose my mods extremely carefully this time. The only mods that I have installed now are ones that I've had installed in the past and was able to play for 5+ hours without a crash. So I can't see the mods as being the problem, but I could be wrong. I started a new game and was able to play for a while. Everything was fine until it froze because I was messing around with trying on multiple armors, must have been too much at once. I used tasked manager, closed the game, and started it up again. Then I tried to load my last save. It will go to the load screen fine, but once it's done loading, it acts like its going to take me to the location of my last save but it crashes. I tried loading a couple different save points and clicking continue from the main menu instead of loading a specific save. It always crashes. There are no viruses on my computer, I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 so my computer is 100% clean. I've even run CCleaner to fix up any registry errors and that still hasn't fixed it. My mod load order is determined by BOSS and, as far as I can tell, everything is where it should be. But, like I said, all the mods I have currently installed I've had installed before when I could play for hours. Also, my ini files are also the same as they were when I could play for hours. I've uninstalled/deactivated the one new mod I did have and that did nothing to help either. It still crashes every time I try to load a save. I'm at my wits end here. My mod list is already down the essentials that had resulted in previous stable gameplay. My computer is clean. My SSD is clean. My ini files are safe. The only thing that has changed is that I'm using the latest ENB binaries, but I'm not sure why that would be causing crashes when it lets me play with that same ENB installed on a new game. Any help that anyone could offer me would be greatly appreciated. And thanks to whoever takes the time out of their day to assist me in advance.
  5. @skyrimfan147: After looking at your load order what jumps out at me is that next to a number of your mods there are warning from BOSS such as to obtain compatibility patches, to update to the latest version, to make sure you have the correct body replacing mod installed for certain armors, and warnings about navmesh's missing. Example: Better Quest Objectives.esp Active Warning: This file is out of date. Please obtain the new version. The first thing I would do is go through, read all of those warnings, and do whatever BOSS suggests. That alone could fix your problem. Also, the Unofficial Patches should be above the High Res Texture packs in your load order, not below. Sounds of Skyrim was notorious for crashes in the past and there were many warnings against using it. It seems to have been uploaded again and the problem fixed, but there that could still be the culprit. If Sounds of Skyrim was the culprit and you 'tried to disable it' (I'm not sure what you mean by tried to disable it) there is a chance that a script or something else from that mod is still lingering behind and the only way to completely uninstall it is to start a new game. Finally, Enhanced Blood textures is one of the best, if not the best, blood texture replacer, but it has been known to cause crashes as well. There is no harm in uninstalling or disabling it and seeing if that stops your crashes. Hope that helps. Good luck!
  6. Your problem is because you're using a cracked version which is not something to be proud of. It's like a slap in the face to Bethesda and all the hard work they put into their games. No one on here will help someone using a pirated version. And, if you read the terms of service, anyone caught using a cracked version will be banned. Next time, just save up the money, buy the game, and do things the right way. It's not that hard. And it shows Bethesda the respect they deserve for creating such an incredible game.
  7. @Adriane13: I just thought of another solution for your crashes. I can't believe I didn't think of it before. You're running SG hair pack female and when there are too many hair options during character creation it causes crashes. There is a mod that allows you to have as many hair packs as you want without causing crashes. Here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526/?. That should work for you and fix your crash problem, no doubt. I'm sorry I didn't think of it sooner.
  8. You're welcome. XD Hmm, I've never used the installer that came with it. I just read the instructions that should be listed on that page and it's fairly simple. When you download the latest version, and click to open the rar file, there should be three files that start with skse: skse_1_9_32.dll, skse_loader.exe, and skse_steam_loader.dll and you extract those into the Skyrim folder, where TESV.exe is located. Then open data folder, then the scripts folder. Extract everything in the script folder that ends in .pex into the scripts folder located steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/data/scripts. Then extract everything in the source folder that ends in .psc into the source folder located steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/data/scripts/source. And done, SKSE is properly installed. I have Windows 7, but the method should be the same. The crash sounds to me like your computer might be having trouble opening a large area, which is why it makes the sound like you've arrived, but then goes black. It's freezing because it can't handle it. I'm not sure what kind of computer you have and what your specs are, but that's what it sounds like to me. The texture optimizer should help with that and the removal of smoke on the loading screens should eliminate most if not all of those freezes you're experiencing. You're more than welcome. I spent a very long time trying to get my game stable with the mods I want installed and with a fast fps along with an ENB and I've just recently accomplished that. I know firsthand what it's like trying to reach that point and I was lucky enough to have some great people on nexus and on these forums help me out along the way. Now that I have my game at a good place I just want to do the same for other people who are having trouble.
  9. I checked out the Hideout's mod page last night and it seems like the author hasn't updated the mod in quite a while which doesn't mean the mod is flawed in any way, it just means that it might have dirty edits which could be causing the problem or it might need a compatibility patch since it appears to have been created before the creation kit. In fact, I just found the necessary compatibility patch. That's why they won't work with each other. Here is the link:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26230/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D26230%26preview%3D&pUp=1. Go to the files tab and find the Hideout Hearthfire's Compatibility patch. Once you download that they should work together no problem. If for whatever reason that link doesn't work properly, here is the name of the mod: Sharlikrans Compatibility Patches. Hope that fixes your problem.
  10. After looking at your load order I'm seeing a number of issues that jump out at me although I'm not sure they are the cause for the 2am crash as that is very specific. Still, even if the problems I'm seeing aren't causing the 2am crash there is a good chance they will cause problems down the road. Do you use BOSS to organize your load order and Wrye Bash? If not, you really should. RaceMenu and RaceMenuPlugin should be at the bottom of your load order right after UFO, not at the top. Cloaks and WIC should both be below UFO. The only things below UFO should really be any followers you have, and Cloaks and WIC like I mentioned before, not maps and pure waters and all that other stuff - at least that's what I've gotten from carefully reading mod descriptions and the only crashes I have are after 4-5, sometimes 6 hours when Skyrim has hit the 3gb limit. Alternate Start - Live Another Life has been known to cause problems down the road like crashes because it messes with the script of the opening sequence at Helgen which is essential to the game's stability. All your UFO.esp's should be grouped together, not so far apart. Guard Dialogue Overhaul should be above any and all weapons and armor mods - it says something about it in the mod's description page. Also, you have Requiem which makes a lot of drastic changes to Skyrim along with many other mods that make similar changes such as Path of Shadows. Requiem is also said to cause crashes when used together with Alternate Start, I tried using those two together before, messed with the load order, followed the instructions about using them together, and no matter what I did I couldn't get them to work together. On Requiem's description page it says to be careful installing other mods with it because of all the changes that it makes and you have a lot of mods. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a conflict between Requiem and another mod that is causing your crashes, although I've never heard of a crash always happening at a specific time in game. And that's just what I see off the top of my head, plus there are a lot of mods you have installed that I don't recognize. I really think it would be a smart move to, at the very least, re-read the Requiem description and see what it does say about installing too many mods with it, see if there are any particular mods that jump at you that may or do conflict that you have installed. And I strongly recommend installing BOSS and Wrye Bash to help with your mod load order. BOSS will also tell you if some of the mods you have installed have any dirty edits that need to be cleaned which you can do with TES5Edit, and those dirty edits could be causing your crashes as well.
  11. @Adriane13: Alright, let me know if it works. If not, I'll try to come up with some other suggestions that might help. Although, I did just think of something else last night. The opening sequence of Skyrim from the moment you first get off the cart to when you finally exit Helgen tends to be very buggy. For example, you could have twenty mods running that don't cause crashes once you get past Helgen, but those same mods might cause crashes during that opening sequence. Unless you have any mods that alter your character appearance that you'd like to see while you make your character, it would be worth a shot to just disable, not uninstall, but just disable your mods until you get past Helgen. Then enable them after that and see if your crashes are gone. It couldn't hurt to at least try that. @Itknight88: The new SkyUI shouldn't use up more RAM than the older one. Are you certain that you installed SKSE correctly? I messed up on the install once because the latest SKSE had a different install method than the old one and I had constant crashes until I uninstalled and reinstalled it correctly from scratch. I've had the same problem with freezing when trying to equip and/or look at custom clothing and armor. It hasn't happened since I ran the texture optimizer. That might be something worth checking into for you as well and see if it makes a difference. See link above in previous post. I've never used the SkyUI hot keys to change gear so unfortunately I can't help you there. When you say you fast travel and then crash, do you mean you crash during the loading screen or after you've reached the location you've fast traveled to? If you crash during the loading screen there is an awesome mod that removes the loading screen smoke and has eliminated all loading screen freezes/crashes for me. Could be worth a shot. Here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7901/?
  12. Unfortunately, the majority of mods leave something behind when you uninstall them and because of that something left behind Skyrim continues to search for what is missing, sometimes it's harmless and other times it causes the crashes like the ones your experiencing now. Even though you reinstalled the mods Skyrim is still searching for what is missing. It has something to do with the way the game engine reads scripts and other objects that have been put into the game. Simply reinstalling the mod does not work. I haven't come across anything yet that can save a corrupted save file like this. My advice to you for the future, if you're planning on trying out some more mods to see if there are any conflicts and which ones you want to keep is to create a test character to do so with the knowledge that it is simply a test character, not one that you will put a lot of time in. Once you figure out which mods work for you and which ones don't you start a new clean save and that way you don't have to go through the pains and complications of installing and uninstalling mods. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help, but once a save file is corrupted it's corrupted. The only other option you have is to load an earlier save, if you have one, before all the uninstalling and reinstalling took place and hope that that one isn't corrupted. Good luck!
  13. I don't see any potential conflicts from the mods you have listed. However, it would really help to know the specs of your PC instead of just that it's a Sony Vaio. How much ram and vram do you have? Do your specs meet the minimum requirements? Do you have a good or decent video card? Regardless, I have a couple suggestions that might help. 1. Download Optimizer Texture from Nexus. Here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801//?. I see that you have Skyrim HD textures along with a couple other texture replacers and if you don't have that much memory there is a good chance that your computer is quickly hitting its limit and that that is causing the crash. Running the texture optimizer will help reduce the size of the textures in your texture folder without losing much if any of the quality which could help with the crashes. I wouldn't, however, recommend using it to optimize BSA files as that can cause other problems. 2. Enhanced Blood Textures is one of the best, if the not the best in my opinion, for blood textures, but it has been known to cause crashes. Try disabling that and see if it makes a difference. 3. There are a couple other things you can do to improve Skyrim's stability and it's performance. Colorful lights - No Shadows- More FPS with removes shadows inside buildings, increasing your framerate, and reducing the load on your computer while using lighting techniques to make up for the lack of shadows. Here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10789/?. Skyrim Project Optimization is another mod that helps to greatly improve performance in interiors. Here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32505//?. Skyrim Performance Plus helps to improve stability and FPS outside by lowering the resolution of four of most taxing things on your system; falling pine needles, falling aspen leaves, snow, and rain. It gives you the option to chose how low a resolution you want to go or to just disable those things completely and it works wonders. 4. There are a few mods on your list that I don't recognize. Castle Mendoza. Swift Steeds Replacer. Airdale Dog Replacer. Mounted Followers. It might be helpful to go onto the nexus page for each of those mods, read through a few pages of comments, and see if anyone has reported that particular mod causing crashes. If so, disable that one and see if that eliminates your crashes. If I knew more about your computer I might be able to help more and offer more suggestions. You could also check out Game Booster, FPS Booster, and, especially CleanMem which not only helps to reduce Skyrim crashes, but keeps your PC running better as well. I really hope one of these gets rid of those crashes. I've been trying to get my game stable with all the mods I want for over six months and I've just recently gotten there so I feel your frustration. If you need anymore help I'll be happy to do what I can. Good luck!
  14. Hi everyone, I had my game running perfectly and then I stumbled onto an odd problem last night. I've already weeded out any ini tweaks being the cause because this problem began long after the last ini tweak I made. The problem has to do with shadows. I know they're the worst part of the game, and I could never get them to look right so I completely disabled them and installed an ENB to make up for the lack of shadows which is why I can't figure out where this problem is coming from. When my character gets close to an object or person an odd, flickering, almost square-like shadow appears on them. It only happens outside and it only happens on the object or person closest to my character, nothing far away, and it doesn't happen on the ground either, or buildings. Mostly on things like tanning racks, blacksmith forge, people, carriages, ect. I assumed that it is some kind of mod conflict, but I haven't installed any new mods that have anything to do with shadows, lights, the outside, nothing like that. I can't figure out where it is coming from, especially since, again, I have no shadows installed. Also, the mods I have installed are free from dirty edits. It might be worth pointing out that this started happening after I downloaded Dawngaurd and Dragonborn and it hadn't happened before that. If anyone has any advice, suggestions, needs to see my mod load order, or needs to see a picture to better show the problem please let me know. I'd really like to get this problem fixed as soon as possible since it's very immersion breaking. Finally, I have posted this in two sections because I'm not sure if it is a technical problem or mod related. I hope that isn't an issue. Edit: I figured out the cause of that problem last night. But it seems that fixing that problem has launched a new one, also dealing with shadows. Whenever my characters jumps when in first person, the screen goes black for a moment. It doesn't do it when I'm in the third person view point and it's driving me crazy. It's like this odd, almost like an eye opening and closing, whenever my character's feet touch the ground after a jump. I haven't the faintest idea what could be causing this. I'm assuming this isn't a comment problem, but if anyone has dealt with it or heard of it and has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Also, I have a feeling that this problem is ini tweak related and that somehow when I fixed the previous shadow problem I was having it created this new one, but I'm not sure which ini tweak that could be.

  16. 17. That makes sense, but can that cause crashes or it just creating a report? And thank you for replying. I appreciate it.
  18. Hi everyone. So here is my problem. I'm in the process of stabilizing my Skyrim game and working out all the kinks so I can just play it and enjoy. I'm pretty much there, with the exception of testing out a couple mods. Then, the other night I ran into a papyrus log error that I've never seen in all the time that I've been working on and playing Skyrim. My papyrus log is filled with these, but here is an example: [_WetQuest (43000D63)]._wetquestscript.OnInit() - "_WetQuestScript.psc" Line 454[06/18/2013 - 07:45:39PM] Error: File "Chesko_Frostfall.esp" does not exist or is not currently loaded. Basically, I have a lot of lines and errors in my log all saying a certain esp like Frostfall listed above or Cloaks.esp or Dragonborn.esm don't exist or are not currently loaded. The problem is that I don't have a single mod installed that relies on any of these. I haven't purchased Dragonborn so that's never even been in my system. While I have had Frostall and Cloaks of Skyrim installed before, the game that these errors are showing up on is a completely clean game - one that I've cleanly uninstalled and re-installed. And on the fresh, re-installed version of my game I've haven't installed any of the mods that the papyrus log is giving me an error for. Also, every time that an Error: File missing esp appears on my papyrus log it appears after the WetQuest Script, but I don't know what that means or why it's associated with all these missing files. So I'm totally confused. I believe these errors are what is currently causing my random crashes since it seems to be missing a lot of esp files, but it just doesn't make sense since I haven't installed any of those mods or a mod that relies on them in my new game. I was under the impression that when you completely uninstall Skyrim and re-install everything from scratch that any old files and scripts associated with the previous install are gone and should no longer cause problems, hence the reason why people uninstall and re-install the game to start clean without any corruption. If anyone has any ideas of has heard of something similar I would really appreciate any advice you could offer. Thanks in advance.
  19. First, I want to apologize to everyone who took the time to offer their advice for not responding and saying thank you sooner, but I haven't been able to be online much lately. With that said, @Rhowington: Thank you for clearing that up for me. I couldn't seem to find a 100% straight answer via google searches. It seems I have a decision to make then. @PunisherX100: I really must thank you for giving such a detailed response. It's been a huge help to me. I'm honestly not sure I would have been able to fix the problem without your advice. And, after spending several hours following all of your advice, I seem to have fixed the problem. Skyrim will still freeze or lag occasionally, but it hasn't crashed since. The first thing I did was take out the performance monitor. Then, I uninstalled SKSE, read the directions and did a fresh install of it. Finally, I clean my registry and, while the removing the performance monitor and reinstalling SKSE seemed to help, what really fixed it and made the biggest difference was cleaning out the registry. I had more registry errors than I ever expected to have and once I cleaned the ones that were safe to clean, no more crashes. I'm also glad you told me that moving the OS isn't worth it and, essentially kills the hard drive or, at the very least, makes it harder to access. The only thing I've put on the SSD card are my games and while those are important, the truly important things such as projects and work related files are in my hard drive so moving the OS from it is not an option. I do, however, have one question about what you did to avert the problem. Hopefully I don't sound like a total stupid noob asking this. You said you installed a new OS (Windows 8) onto the SSD. I currently have Windows 7 installed on my drive. So could I install a new OS of Windows 8 onto the SSD? I mean, would having Windows 7 on my hard drive and Windows 8 on my SSD work? Could they coexist like that? Would that be my best option? Also, I'm aware that the SSD works the best with an OS installed on it, but would not having an OS installed on the SSD cause Skyrim crashes? @dave1029: Thank you for the extra info. I'd prefer to keep my hard drive functioning as a hard drive and not a flash drive. Especially since I got a relatively small memory SSD and it can't possibly hold everything I would need to move from the hard drive onto it. When you say I want all the files the games use does that also include software like NNM or just the Skyrim and Steam files? Again, thank you everyone who contributed. I really appreciate it.
  20. Thanks for the response. I've heard that the SSD needs the OS installed, but I hesitated because - this might sound like a totally stupid noob thing to say -, but I wasn't sure if I could transfer or install the OS to the SSD without removing the OS from my hard drive, the C drive, because I'm going to use the C drive for everything except my games so I need it installed on the hard drive as well. And I certainly didn't want to have to buy windows 7 after I just shelled out money to buy the SSD. Do you know if its possible to transfer the OS to the SSD and still have the OS on the hard drive? Also, you mentioned a software that will do the transfer for you. Do you have the names of any of those or a link to them? Thank you again.
  21. Hi there. I'm not entirely sure this is the correct category to post this question in (I hope it is), but if it isn't if someone could kindly direct me to the correct place to post this question, I would really appreciate it. This is going to be an extremely detailed problem, but I figured giving as much detail as I can is the only way I'm going to get a solution. Here is my seemingly complex problem. Recently, I bought a 128gb SSD card with the intentions of installing all my steam games on it, but especially Skyrim. I'm aware that doing so doesn't improve FPS or performance. It does, however, reduce screen loading times and I've heard a large number of people say that it drastically reduced the random crashes they'd been experiencing which is what I hope it will do for me as well. I successfully installed the SSD and then looked for instructions on installing Skyrim and Steam to it. I followed the instructions to a T, loaded up an old save, noticed a huge difference in load times. I played for awhile to make sure everything was running smoothly and didn't experience any crashes. Then, I exited the game, launched Nexus, installed three new mods (I'm still in the process of installing mods 1 or a couple at a time until I find a collection that runs smoothly and doesn't cause crashes). Anyway, I launched Skyrim, and it crashed before I even got to the Continue/New/Load screen. I uninstalled the mods one by one and it kept crashing. For the life of me I could not figure out what was causing the crash. I hadn't changed a single thing except installing those three mods which I promptly uninstalled. Fed up, I reinstalled Skyrim and it finally let me load, but it crashed after only a couple minutes. It may be important to note that when I checked the papyrus log after it was unusually extensive considering I'd only played for a couple minutes. Now, I didn't have these problems with crashes until I installed Skyrim and Steam to the SSD and I think that might have something to do with it. I'm aware that most crashes are caused by mod incompatibilities or mod issues, but after I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim to the SSD I only installed a handful of mods that I know to be stable and not cause crashes, but it continued crashes. Here are a couple more important factors. Despite Skyrim being installed and launching from the SSD it still used the Skyrim.ini and Skyrimpref.ini that was located in my documents in my C drive and not the ini files that I have place onto my SSD card. I also installed Skyrim Performance Moniter on my SSD and set it to launch the game from SKSE, but it kept launching it from Steam instead - even if I launch directly from skse_loader.exe. This is another big problem for me as I have been launching Skyrim from SKSE for over a year and want to continue doing so. The bottom line is that even though I installed Steam and Skyrim to the SSD along with the ini files and the performance monitor Skyrim is still pulling quite a lot from the old files on my C drive and it won't launch from SKSE even though it set up to do so and SKSE is properly installed. I could be wrong, but I have this nagging feeling that Skyrim still pulling information from the C drive has something to do with my recent problem with random crashes (In the entire time I've owned Skyrim I'ver never had it crash this often and this consistently. Usually I can play anywhere from 45 min at minimum to a couple of hours before it crashes) While I was googling and trying to find a solution last night I found out that often when Skyrim and Steam are moved to the SSD drive there are registry files that are left behind in the C drive that can cause problems and that the only way to fix it is to thoroughly uninstall Steam with uninstall software like Max Uninstaller, but I don't want to cause any damage or a whole new slew of problems which is why I'm posting on here in the hopes that someone can tell me what the right course of action is. Thank to you anyone who responds ahead of time.
  22. Hi everyone. So I finally, after countless hours of trial and error and testing, have gotten my Skyrim game just about perfect. But I've recently encountered a new problem that I've never seen before dealing with trees. The trees in the distance are normal with a full set of leaves and branches and look good, but the trees up close are all bare, nothing more than sticks in the ground. I first noticed the problem after I started a new game and escaped Helgen. [it might be important to add that on the carriage ride in the opening sequence the trees are all normal and don't have this problem] But once I exit the cave its the first thing I notice as the land looks so bland without full trees. And the problem continues all the way into Riverwood and beyond. As I said, I'll look at a group of trees in the distance and they're fine, but once I'm actually standing in front of them all the leaves and most of the branches are gone. For the life of me, I can't determine the problem and, despite my best searching efforts, I haven't found another person with the same problem or a solution. All of the mods I have installed I've had installed before without this problem and I haven't changed any ini tweaks recently [the last time I did an ini tweak was weeks ago and this problem didn't exist then.] This is a link that shows exactly what I'm talking about: http://oi34.tinypic.com/2kq58z.jpg If anyone has any advice or suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
  23. Thank you again for the quick reply. It's very kind of you to take time helping me out and I really appreciate it. Believe me, your not insulting me. I know that your just trying to weed out what the cause is and like I said I really appreciate your help. After reading your suggestions I thought it was my computer viewing skse as a virus because my malwarebytes and anti-vrius program were recently updated so I put skse on the ignore list, but still no luck. I definitely have all the correct permissions. Although, I did find something interesting. I have administrative rights on my computer, but on another website I found that if you type netplwiz in the windows search box then you see a more in depth version of what your account type is and mine was administrative but also homeuser. When you have two like that the computer tends to give you permission for the lesser one so you don't get full administrative rights. So I changed it to being just administrative. Granted, that didn't fix the problem either but its something to consider for the future. I just thought you might like to know that in case you run into a similar problem in the future. What finally worked was disabling UAC entirely, putting skse_loader.exe into the skyrim folder and then enabling UAC again. So I got it fixed and it was your suggestion that did it. Again, thank you. I'm just not sure what went wrong in the first place. For me to have used skse in the past with no problem and to have not changed anything and then this happens just seems very odd to me. Hopefully, its fixed for good and won't happen again. Anyway, thanks again. I really can't thank you enough. I was about to pull my hair out of my head and just give up. I've never been so frustrated with a skyrim problem before. If you don't mind, I just have one more question. The SKSE problem happened last night along with a slew of other problems, all at once, and I'm just concerned about what caused the major hiccup. First I couldn't load Wrye Bash. It kept telling me that it couldn't locate Skyrim and that I had to use to o-line to put in the correct path, but Skyrim was still installed in its usual folder and nothing had changed. Then BOSS couldn't detect Skyrim either. It would load the black screen that says loading masterlist, but instead it said BOSS encountered a critical error and would crash before I could read what the error was, but NMM still recognized Skyrim and worked fine. Then I tried to launch skyrim and it crashed before it even reached the main menu. That's when I noticed that skse_loader.exe was missing from the Skyrim folder and to answer your previous question I couldn't find that missing .exe anywhere. Basically, nothing was working and it stopped working all once. Uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim fixed all of the problems except for the SKSE issue which you helped me fix. I'm just wondering if you've ever heard of all those errors occuring at once and if so what causes them. I'd like to prevent something like from happening in the future.
  24. Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it, especially since I really can't play Skyrim until I get this fixed. I checked and I have full permission for all of those, but it keeps telling me I need permission or that access is denied. The really weird thing is that I can extract everything in the skse folder but the skse_loader.exe. And like I said, last night when I first checked the skyrim folder to see what was causing the problems, before I did anything, the skse_loader.exe was just gone. Everything else skse was there, but that .exe had just vanished like the computer deleted it itself. I don't think that's a coincidence that it was just gone and now I can't put it back in my folder, but I just can't figure out whats going on. I would've thought that uninstalling and reinstalling skyrim and uninstalling and reinstalling skse would have fixed the problem, but it didn't. Do you have any other suggestions? And, by any chance, would any ini tweak be causing it or another skyrim related program like the skyrim performance monitor?
  25. Hi everyone. So I've been having a very frustrating night dealing with Skyrim. I didn't change a thing, hadn't played it for a couple days, then I try to play it tonight and nothing is working right. After a lot of hair pulling and reinstalling and tweaks I finally got most of the problems fixed, but there is one that, no matter what I do, I can't seem to fix. I've used SKSE in past and I know how to install it properly and it's always worked for me up until now. Last night there were some major issues with it, mainly the skse_loader.exe suddenly disappeared from my Skyrim folder. I reinstalled it, but when I went to extract the proper skse files into the Skyrim folder I came upon a problem. It let me extract everything except for the skse_loader.exe. I find this very weird since the skse_loader.exe wasn't in the skyrim folder tonight when I checked, like I already said, and I didn't touch a thing or delete it until I had to do the reinstall. Now when I try to extract the skse_loader.exe into my Skyrim folder it says I don't have permission to do so. As I said, I've used SKSE in the past and haven't changed anything so for the life of me I can't tell why it's telling me that I don't have permission to put that .exe into the Skyrim folder. If anyone has any advice or has had the same problem themselves and knows of the solution I would really appreciate it. I'm unable to properly play with some of my favorite mods until I get SKSE working again. Thanks in advance.
