  1. Would it be better to just delete all my mods and uninstall NMM then re-install my mods after dowloading Vortex? (i dont have a lot of mods as i juist started messing around trying to figure things out on this new PC so im not worried about having to re-install them). There's probably various eways to handle this that ican be seen through youtube or other sources but because those sources seem to have a lot of contradictions between themselves i'd like to here your (yea you) thoughts and ideas on the matter. Also for future reference if I continue to use NMM untill Vortex is complete (or more complete) if I didn't want to delete 200 plus mods, and re download them into vortex would i just go into the folder on my SSD that hold all my mods and send those applications to the Vortex file folder? Also I think I'm going to continue using NMM for this next Witcher 3 playthru (just got it for PC. I beat it 4 times on Ps4 and want to get some really good captures with a free cam mod on the PC version) so I'm wondering if I might keep NMM for Witcher 3 or other games where i'd only be using 10 mods or less. Cuz I can wait awhile for Vortex to be complete as I almost burned myself out on Skyrim Se on Xbox while using Trial and Error, constant hard resets, load times, and crashes then more hard resets and load times on the path towards the optimal Load Order Sort of an Unrelated rant.. (feel free to ignore) (I finally arrived at after 3 or 4 months of testing sessions. Basically not playing the game so much as testing it which kinda made me question whetehr or not building a PC so I could expand my moding options would would be worth it. Does anyone else feel like they spend more time testing things out then actually playing the game?) Does anyone think Bethesda might Actually do such a great job with TES 6, so much so that we might not need as many immersion mods (imersvie citizens just to name one out of 20 or 30) or gameplay overhauls (smilodon, Dodge mods, etc). I couldn't play Skyrim at all until I had mods. When I look at FO3 which I played for a few hours, and then seeing how much the FPS gameplay improved from Fo3 to Fo4 and how FO3 mods and Skyrim Mods might of influenced Fo4s development (they included a survival mode, despite it being unimmersive and tedious unlike something akin to iNEEDs and added what I think has great potential in both Skyrim nand Fallout games, the settlement/base building feature if they can manage follow through on a more optimal implementation.) it makes me wonder if , this time, the Vanilla game will be much closer to the ideal experience then it has been in the past, thus perhaps not needing as many mods to create the ideal immserive, open world sandbox action RPG with emergent gameplay and radiant A.I. - Speaking of A.I. I wonder how much more that will have advanced by the time FO5, Tes 6 or even their two mystery IPs come out.
  2. BTW, do they have a masterlist for FO4 yet?
  3. LOOT doesn't do most of the sorting when using it with Vortex? I was hopin that I could save some time for my Skyrim SE playthru's on this badass PC? (that I definetaly didn't put together myself But that's not what I tell the Ladies, bro.... <<< douchebag right there) I definetaly feel your frustration. I don't know if this will help or if its even news to you but I started adding mods and learning how to properly order them on my Xbox version of Skyrim SE and it took me awhile but finally I got all 150 mods in one load order to work without any problems or crashes. I used the Masterlist as my guide. Do you know what the dropbox masterlist is? (if you do then the following probably wont be anything new to you) I'm a newbie to PC but using the dropbox Masterlist was how I was able to learn how to manually create an optimal Load order on console. Its basically a list that keeeps on growing with all the mods listed in their respective categories, in order, and also in alternate categories should you need to place something lower or higher based on your overwriting needs (For example a mod like Smilodon can be placed in either category 3 - Gameplay Overhauls/ Big Overhauls or category 8 depending on what other mods you might use. Hell you could just look at the masterlist and almost order your mods exactly how it has them ordered. Also if you have some mods that aren't on the masterlist (they got all the popular ones and much more but not all of them) you can also use it to get a good feel for where it should go or whether or not a certain mod should be higher or lower, or if it might need to overwrite another mod so to speak. It also tells you which mods aren't compatible with each other or it paraphrases the most important parts of the mod descriptions. I still read all of them but if you haven't already check out the masterlist. Id post a link but I forget how I found it before. Its in my favorites on my laptop which is being borrowed. I'm sure someone on these forums knows what I'm talking about... that is assuming that I even know what I'm talking about. Cuz how could they know what I'm talking about if I don't know what I'm talking about? You know what I'm talking about? Anyway, Happy Black History Month.
  4. So its basically still the same logic (for example, Live Another Life would be placed below the majority of mods unless the mod description specifically tells us to load after Live Another Life. LIke I know RDO goes below Live another Life and some other mods, atleast in my Load order, are placed below LIve another Life, but in general Arthmoors Live another Life would still be loaded at the bottom part of the load order) when it comes to load orders. I used to be on Xbox and Ive been successful with 150 mods (that's the limit for consoles) meaning I had no conflicts (or atleast nothing that I noticed) or crashes or freeze ups through an entire playthouhg (100+ hours). SO basically, If I used those same mods I would order them the same, correct? Essentially I know how load order works enough to manually order mods, atleast on console. So it should be even a little easier or atleast not as time consuming with Vortex (I'm probably going to wait until its complete) and LOOT? Or am I just missing something like a newbie does? A lot of the mods I used on console where only parts of a bigger mod so I might only have to use 150 plus maybe 30 additional mods I know I wanted to use but couldn't on console, so that's awesome.
  5. I have a few questions. Here's some context/backstory just in case. Otherwise you can skip all the way to the first Questiuon if you're just here to help or get help. Thanks. I find it best to bring my questions to forums rather than search bars and how to videos, that way I can better sift through the contradictory information/answers and get to the bottom of things without having to take a YouTube vids word for it. Ive had my custom built PC for almost a month now and i've only played a few hours of Divinity Original Sin 2 as I stil have a PS4 (and 8 games iv yet to even touch and this PC is mainly for big open RPGs, FPS games, and creating a graphic novel I'm working on). Im still in the process of learning how to mod on a PC as i used to own Skyrim and Fallout 4 on my Xbox One where i learned how to properly (manually) order my mods in the Load Order. Recently i just learned what the hell Program Files x86 was compared to Program Files (32 bit and 64 bbit apps). Hardware specs: i7 Intel Quadcore, 16 GiGz of RAM (Random Access Memory?) Asus motherboard, Nvidia 1080ti, Liquid cooling, Sandisk (Fry's was out of Samsung) 1TB Solid State Drive, a generic 3TB Hardrive (WD brand) and I'm waiting/saving to get me a nice frosty G-Sync 4k HDR Monitor/Gaming TV I had Skyrim SE installed thru steam and also had NMM, LOOT, 7zip, and FNIS Generator plus 15 or so mods to test out. Created a 'Games' folder to keep Skyrim (other games I plan to mod and NMM) I startyed doing things based on multiple How to docs and vids trying to get SKSE64 into my Load order and adding some mods to test (including SkyUI) I found that SKSE64 wasnt properly installed (or something was wrong) as i was prompted with a SkyUI warnning the last time i tried to launch Skyrim. Long story short i ended up uninstalling every mod, as well as NMM, LOOT, FNIS generator, 7zip, and everything except for Steam and Divinity II. QUESTIONS and MATTERS Question 1: Best way tto make sure that im removing everything and anything from my SSD when uninstalling? I want my games and launchers and mods on the C drive because its a SSD and I got an SSD for improved performance (Whats a good way to manage space and utilize my other painfully below average Dard Drive to maximize my storage capabilities and/or use for backing up Load orders and other data. Question 2: Best place to install NMM (C drive: program files? Games folder?) and other mod related programs, games, and apps.) Best place to install anything. A place for Games, LOOT, different applications -My C drive IS my SSD but I also have a D drive which is a 3TB WD Hardrive. (SSD are so good in case you're wondering.. so far. Pricey but I saved for 17 months before finally splurging my disposable income on this rig) Question 3: A: Link for a good source for learning various computer terminology and misc aspects that way I can know the basics at the foundation of this new learning experience and as long as I have the blue print I can figure it out as I go along, and do so much quicker than having to search for most recent how to vids and watch atleast 3 of them to make sure the information isn't contradictory. For Example - in computer terminology/semantics what is a Function, an Operation, a task, the difference. Whats the difference between Having something installed onto my C drive as opposed to my D drive (other than the C drive being my Solid State drive and therfor much faster). -B: What are some things I should definetaly avoid clicking on or deleting? Is deleting something to, and then permanently form the Recycling bin going get rid of it? -C: Basically I could use some tips on refining my own process for when it comes to installing apps such as games or other programs (is an App and a Program technically the same thing?) QUESTION 4: I was getting screen tearing every time I moved in the last session I played Skyrim on and don't know why that would happen. Its a UHD 4k montor I got for 200 bucks to keep until I can afford and HDR monitor and atleast 32 inches of screen (as I will use a gamepad for pretty much all single player games) QUESTION 5: Gamepad preferences - Dual Shock 4 versus Xbox One controller? In Skyrim while using the dual shock and configuring the controls, each function was being labelled as if I was using an Xbox Controller. Instead of X square circle and triangle I would have B(circle) Y(triangle) X(square) and A(x). Also are there ways to utilize both a gamepad and keyboard at the same time? Viable? LIke if I wanted to use the controller for mostly everything except for maybe using the 1-0 keys on the keyboard for quick hotkey (such as item selection instaed of a console based radial menu or quick menu.. if that made any sense) I'm gonna stop myself because I have quite a few questions and I don't want this to be hard to respond to as I start going into and asking about several different things. Maybe some things to know from the beginning as a newbie could be useful. What are some things I should know so I can TEACH Myself the rest. I spent 2500 hard earned dollars on this PC (yeah I realize I could of probably got something similar for much less in some way shape or form but that's why I saved for nearly two years and picked out my hardware then had Fry's put it all together. I wrote this really fast cuz I wanted to get it posted before I passed out so I could make progress when I get off work Thursday morning. Apologieze if its ill-formatted and for typhos, etc. Have swell fudwukin day! :) -(look how adorable my 90's era emogie is) Why I bought a PC and what I'm intending to use it for (iN case anybody has some advice)(you can ignore this if you're just here for the questions I specified above) âADVICE is mucho Appreciated. Or links to good sources of advice and info. I mainly want to get all I can out of Bethesda's average games (that can be turned into some of the best games ever made with the right mods) and play a few PC exclusives (and timed exclusives ) and also enjoy 60 FPS at higher settings (I love my PS4 pro but in time ill learn to love my PC more once I've gotten over this initial stage of learning how to be a responsible and intelligent PC user/gamer/content creator) I want to be able to take screenshots from any angle on any game utilizing whatever programs I need to utilize and take advantage of Quality of Life mods for games that don't really need to be completely overhauled like Skyrim and Fallout. Games like Witcher 3 could use one or two 'Immersive" HUD mods as well as some ways to fix the combat so Geralt doesn't spin so damn much. Also being able to use console commands, mods, or installed programs to access a free roam camera in any game I play to then take epic, cinematic, artistic, and badass screenshots and then apply my own effects. BBeen wanting to do a Skyrim, Fallout, SOuls, or Witcher 3 "graphic novel machinima" using screenshots that are then formatted into panels and then I can take MY playthru's and turn them into edited stories for fun, to share, and to practice storytelling (its good to write but its also good to tell stories across as many mediums as you can think of or create so you/me the writer doesn't get burnt doing the same routines everyday while also summoning my own inspiration through gaming and content creation instead oi just hoping to be inspired or vaping until my brain bubbles over. âIll post more detailed and some more specific questions in another topic when I get my weekend after I get off work Friday morning.
  6. My SSD is Dynamic and my 3tb HDD is basic and apparently its the "primary Partition". A partition is a part of the drive that's separate? God I'm more of a philosopher and not a Technical brain at all. I just want to know how my computer is working and how I would go about using Mod Organizer and LOOT with both SSD and HDD. Can I Launch Skyrim thru the SCript Extender? Can I keep steam inb my HDD and any games I have uninstalled in my HDD and bring t6hem to th4 SSD when I want to install and play them? IS this spoon real? I would like a Cookie for Morpheus..... pfffft (fart noise)
  7. While ttrying to figure out why only one hardrive was showin gup in the program files menu, i called the guys at Fry's who built my first "newbeast" PC (1080ti, Intel 7 quad dcore, liquid cool 650 wats, SSD and 3TB HDD, etc) and communicating over the phone got me and the technician mixed up and we accidently coverted "Disk 1" to a dynamic Drive... Should i take the PC in aand have them reformat befor ei start doing things on this PC only to have major issues dowbn the road? P.S. Is there such thing as a patient and Knowledgeable PC tech that doesnt get noticebly frustrated (a little too frustrated with a newbie the is trying to learn and ask questions and doesn't get most of that they are sayin gthe first or second time around? I Mean damn.
