  1. Thanks for the referral, bl1xxar. I've heard of theat one. It could be an alternative, yes – it seems using it prevents some mod crashes caused by the opening sequence. However, I'd like to avoid that, if possible. I rather enjoy playing as the Dragonborn! Nevertheless, here's an example of what I said about any answer being helpful. Your suggestion gave me an idea! I did some reading and it SEEMS most mods can be safely turned on AFTER the initial Helgen sequence. That's particularly helpful 'cause you can save your game to a slot, back it up, install the mod, see if it crashes, save again if it doesn't, back the save file up, rinse, repeat... Doing this makes it much, much easier to activate the mods one at a time and therefore determine which one(s) is (are) causing the crashes. I'll also try something else before: I found a post by some guy saying there's a video describing how to use TES5Edit to track and solve most mod conflicts AND (this is crucial) that it should be done by everyone trying to load many mods, as several conflicts are not tested and, therefore, not stated by the mod authors. I'm looking for the video now. I'll come back here and post my results once I've tried. Thanks again! P.S.: Yep, already turned Helgen Reborn off.
  2. OK, just gave it a try with the new setup I described above. The opening sequence seemed to go somewhat smoother. One thing that keeps taking a heavy toll on FPS is a mod that says "Tagging Armors X%". I've reviewed my crafting mods, but I actually suspect it's from Another Sorting Mod. I'll have to see about this one... Anyway, I got a CTD again. This time, it happened a few seconds before the character creation, when Ralof, Ulfric, the horse thief and the Dragonborn are leaving the cart. Anyone else has some advice?
  3. Yep, about the same that happened to me. :D After my initial experience with mods (using Curse Client), I broke my save game. I had played for quiet some time then. I got pissed and, after I realized it couldn't be fixed, ragequit the game. (In the end, I realized the true problem hadn't been the mods themselves, but the fact I installed and removed mods improperly. Nazgren mentioned this risk in his response, BTW.) I did run the FNIS tool. It said I only had to run it again if I uninstalled or installed mods that required FNIS or altered the skeletons. Since I'm done installing mods for now... I've yet to try running the game with the new setting I got from Nazgren. And then I'll post to say if it worked.
  4. Firstly, thanks for taking the time to help me, Nazgren. Believe me: you already have! Secondly, I don't mind the wall of text! The more info, the better. And I'm not concise myself... :D Now, for the answers: RaceMenuPlugin, RaceMenuXPMSE extension, Travellers of Skyrim Vanilla and Dragonborn modules: added rules on their LOOT metadata. Should now load on the proper order.SMPC Dragonborn: moved to just below Unofficial Skyrim Patch – Dragonborn.SkyUI: moved up as far as possible. It cannot be placed IMMEDIATELY below DLCs and unofficial patches 'cause its main file is an .esp and, by default, Mod Organizer loads all .esm before .esp. (Therefore, these mods remain in-between: Falskaar, Wyrmstooth, Climates of Tamriel, More Interactive Items, Become King of RiverHelm, More Interactive Items – Dawnguard, Monster Mod, Realistic Animals and Predators, More Interactive Items – Hearthfire, Extensible Follower Framework, Moonpath to Elsweyr and the Travellers of Skyrim main files.)On my next attempt, I'll make sure Helgen Reborn is deactivated until I complete all the opening sequences and get to Riverwood.I'm aware of the unecessary Better Quest Objectives patches. IDK if you're familiar with Mod Organizer, but it deals with .esm, .esp and .bsa in ways somewhat different from other mod managers. The patches came in a compatibility bundle I downloaded and were installed, but I manually disabled them, effectivelly preventing them from loading as if they were absent. I left active only the ones that are applicable. However, LOOT doesn't recognize this disabling and so places them on my load order listing. But they're not, trust me.The same goes for plugins exceding the 255 limit. I actually have less than 255 plugins active – I'm not even sure the game would initialize otherwise! – due to this disablgin function. Mod Organizer actually warns you when you exceed the limit, so I'd never make that mistake unknowingly. About knowing my mods: abbreviations excluded (not good with those), I dare to say I can account in a glance for each and every mod I've downloaded and installed. Yes, as I said, I've downloaded an immense quantity. In fact, if I could, I'd install even more than 255, but game's limits are game's limits. So what I did was: I listed all that interested me on Evernote and chose from there. Just to demonstrate I know them, I'll make a summarized list of my mods, spoiler-hidden for the sake of cleanness. So: there you have it. I've spent some good time acquainting myself with my mods and selecting them. And I'm prepared to do much more! As much as it takes to have a stable enchanced game. Actually, you should know I have NOT the "Let's get this over and play already!" urge. I wouldn't mess around with mods if I didn't enjoy the process of installing, testing, troubleshooting... I just need some help, is all! Lastly: about corrupted saves, that's what made me give up on the game two years ago. That's why, this time, I mean to try over and over until I can find a stable setting BEFORE I start playing. Thanks again, Nazgren. And, already, thanks to anyone else who can help!
  5. Things I've already done: Sorted my Mod Organizer plugin load order using LOOT;Cleaned ALL ITDs and UDRs recommended by LOOT using TES5Edit, including the master files from Bethesda;Bashed all patches Wrye Bash could handle and let it disable the ones it recommended;Ran Generate FNIS for Users;Corrected the memory blocks allocating issue, following Gopher's guide;Used Skyrim Performance Monitor to make sure the game wasn't crashing from surpassing the memory limit (While I can't guarantee it wouldn't, at some point, I can assure you it did NOT hit the 3.5GB threshold at any moment during these CTDs.).------------------------------------ Things I 'ven't done: Undeleting NavMeshes recommended by LOOT. I've read Arthmoor's guide throughly and still can't figure it out for the life of me!Merging patches using TES5Edit. Not only I couldn't very well understand how to do it, I'm not sure this is a good idea, from what I've been reading...Logging with Papyrus. I HAVE followed the instructions on activating logging, edited the .ini file, but the logs simply DON'T appear!!! >:(One thing I might have overlooked are incompatible mods. I did all I could to this end: followed LOOT's recommendation as well as the mod authors', downloaded and installed compatibility patches... But, yes, something might have slipped through.------------------------------------ One of the first things I'd wanted to do was fix this second-to-last issue to have Papyrus start logging. I figured it could help. However... I recently read Papyrus doesn't work as a debug logger and that this is useless! So... Yeah, kinda helpless here. Any good samaritans out there?
  6. My mods list (Yes, I realize it's humongous. But the point of modding is making the game work just like you want, right? Also, If I'd only 2 or 3 mods, I'd most likely have no problems and, therefore, wouldn't be here asking for help... ), spoiler-hidden for the sake of cleanness:
  7. Game specs: Steam version (game path D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim);Updated automatically to the latest version (Steam says "Current content BuildID 111802. Executable properties says "File version 1.9.32.0".);I've all three DLCs (Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn) and the High Resolution Texture Pack.------------------------------------ Tools and enhacements I use: SKSE, latest stable runtime (1.7.1);Script Dragon, latest version (v1.9.32.0);Mod Organizer, latest version (1.2.11);LOOT, latest release (v0.6.0);Wrye Bash, latest version (305);TES5Edit, latest version (3.0.32EXP).
  8. PC specs: Intel Core i7 870 CPU, octa-core, 2.93 GHz each;NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 GPU. CPU-Z says the memory's 1792 and... Well, IDK how to convert that to GB. (Yep, I'm a noob. :pinch: )DDR3, 16GB memory;Windows 7 Professional, x64.Detailed PC specs (CPU-Z report), spoiler-hidden for the sake of cleanness:
  9. I played Skyrim for some time about two years ago. After fiddling with some mods, I broke my save, got frustrated and stopped playing. Now I'm back to playing. Or, at least, trying. I feel – much like most mod users, I assume – that this game, while great, is a diamond in the rough. So, this time around, I decided two things: (1) I'd try to mod it to my heart's contempt and (2) I'd strive to do it right, so as not to break any more saves. To this end, I looked up and down for mod recommendations, downloaded a veritable MOTHERLODE of mods, installed 'em and did – or, at least, tried to do – everything I could to make them work well together. I'm somewhat eperienced when it comes to modded games, so I already fully expected to have issues. My problem now is: I can't figure out how to fix them, save from giving up on my mods altogether. I'll thank in advance the kind soul(s) who offer me help by trying to make my post as clear and informative as possible. ------------------------------------ The issue: My game CTDs at random points during the initial opening. The further I managed to go before crashing was the character creation.
