it amazes me how noone ever seems able to simply say "I've had this issue ... AND HERE's HOW TO FIX IT".!!! So which is it? Looks Menu, or F4SE?

Crash when loading volkihar castle
DaughertyUSMC replied to blazerisbest2's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Well - no help here ffs! -
Atm, my game is running smoothly - no crashes, going in and out of cells rapidly causes no issues, and transitions fast as it should do. Just taking my time, allowing the game to run for quite a while, making a save, and then enabling a couple more plugins, rinse and repeat. Only problem remaining is that I continue to CTD when attempting to add any hair style w/physics, either via Racemenu, or the wigs in-game. Vyxenne is of the opinion that the large number of us experiencing this issue, are all in error, having incorrect mod versions for our game and SKSE64 versions, e.g. FSMP, RaceMenu, etc. I find this personally to be a huge over-simplification - she maintains the stance that the hair mods in question: "KS Hairdos HDT-SMP", and her "Yundao Hair With Physics" couldn't possibly have problems! I find this to be an inaccurate assessment of the facts - I know for a fact that ALL of my mods are up to date, the correct, correlating versions to my game and core mod versions in place. Interesting as well, is that there ARE 2 or 3 of the KS hairstyles I can use that DO NOT crash my game, even though the rest of that bunch, DO. So it is merely common sense to derive from this, that there IS, in fact, an issue (coding?) with these hair mods, that does NOT play well with the AE version of the game, and possibly Racemenu itself. This is my conclusion (suspicion), but I lack the knowledge to verify, and/or fix this, and am therefore, unable to produce any viable repair. It is frustrating, yes, and I am stuck with a hairstyle that I really do not want to use, but I have no other real options in terms of using hairs w/physics, and will have to live with what I DO have. Neither hair mod seems in any hurry to update to a more current version, and until this happens, what's one supposed to do?

I found in my various logs (papyrus, SKEE, SKSE, etc) that a few things failed to load or enumerate - however it works. I didn't know really what I was looking at other than a couple mods likely failed to fire a script or two - it was enough to decide to disable ALL plugins, and renable the core plugins ( SkyUI, UIExtensions, CBBE, USSEP, a few mods needed for face presets I use, and others I KNOW are stable and non-conflicting, etc. I began a new game, and I have slowly been adding plugins as I go. Not what folks would recommend, true, but so far EVERYTHING works, and game is running flawlessly and very smooth. It's a risk to my saves, yes, but a new game is not a huge loss progress-wise - I haven't done much of anything, other than acquire Thaneship in Falkreath, and purchase Lakeview Manor. Easily re-done if it comes to it. At some point, the "culprit" will get added, crash the game, and then I will know what needs to change, and understand the log a bit better once I know what I am looking for. Besides, I am a retired Marine who operated with MARSOC - I am used to conflict! LOL. I want to take this opportunity to thank you guys 4 your excellent assistance!

Truth be told, I have several logs at various places - not sure which is pertinent as I don't have enough savvy of the inner workings of mods to really understand what I am looking at. I think a lot of people just assume that if one mods his/her game, they must obviously be a degree holder in advanced computer sciences, write C++, coupled with an uncanny ability to understand and interpret the inner workings of the mod author's mind. I have none of these things in my repertoire, so it's all foreign to me.

What you say is true. I use about an even 300 mods, 90% of which I have no idea where in my load order they should go. LOOT is used universally as the "go to" LO sorter, and yet is perhaps 70% accurate, MOST of the time when dealing with a large mod-list. When I run LOOT to sort my LO, accept the new order, and view my plugins, I find RaceMenu situated with hair mods that use SMP physics below, AND, above it. Thats just not right! And this is just one of many examples I find in my LO. ATM, I am crashing whenever attempting to exit the Lakeview Manor home, into an exterior cell - doesn't matter where, whether it's just stepping out thru the front door, or COC'ing to Whiterun via console. I have no idea whatsoever as to the cause, respectively, how to fix this, because my LO is all over the map, and I do not know what mod(s) is the cause, or what to disable to narrow it down. This is a new game fyi, using ASLAL that places me inside Lakeview Manor after using the ASLAL bed. It may well be that THIS is causing these CTD's - I have never elected to start there b4, and perhaps there is a conflict between the mod placing me there, and the actual game engine unable to recognize this due to NOT having earned it via the Falkreath Yarl's quests and becoming the owner thru actual purchase. Also there is no house carl, of course. which is what made me stop and think about this method of beginning my game at this location. I am going to exit here, now, and begin a new game, placing myself where I always had b4 without issues arising because THAT location is the "Luxury Suites" and is a modded location itself, and exists on ground that vanilla SkyrimSE does not use for anything - perhaps this is why it has always worked. Thank you Anjen, for replying and your time! Mike D.

I need to contact whoever is currently maintaining NMM and providing the updates to it. NMM has some issues that need to be addressed. Thanx

I notice that less and less mod authors are putting a suggested load order position for their mods that facilitate an .esp plugin in the mods' installation instructions. Ya'll really need to start doing so - it would save a lot of time, borked game saves, and additional hours spent answering related questions. Just a suggestion - do what ya want.

Trouble getting CBP to work with HDT for HDT hairs
DaughertyUSMC replied to ElCapitan8866's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
So far, I have completely removed the mod "HDT-SMP", but still have "Faster HDT-SMP", "CBPC", "CBP", "3BA, 3BBB, CBBE installed, and I am beginning to think that I should remove either the CBP, or the CBPC as either provide physics in much the same way as HDT-SMP to my understanding. How this would affect the Physics hair mods, I am unsure, but I DID load a single "KS Hairdos HDT-SMP" hair in RaceMenu to my character with no crash and the physics for that particular hair (I don't know the name of it) work without HDT-SMP, even though it IS a hard requirement for that mod. Of course this is being done on a new game immediately after Character Creation, while using "Alternate Start LAL". I simply consoled RaceMenu back up and added the aforementioned hair and it worked! In RaceMenu, the rest of the hairs from that mod cause CTD's - same with Yundao hair with Physics. All wigs equipped outside of RM either cause a CTD, or "floor-board" to infinity, depending on which actual hair model or wig is used. I am not sure why, or what the differences are from hair to hair that cause them NOT to "like" whatever it is that they affect, or that affects them, and in the case of Yundao Hair w/Physics, I have reached out to Vyxenne with these issues but have recieved no response as yet - I don't think she likes me anymore lol! This is my current progress as of this writing. If anyone can offer some actual solutions/info that WORK, please post here, and be thorough - others would like to know exactly what steps to take to resolve their respective issue(s). Nothing ruder and more irritating than when someone posts "I found the fix" and then they disappear with no elaboration!!!! -
As usual - lotsa questions relating to what should be common sense, but never any ACTUAL plain-speak replies that provide solutions. All I ever see when someone asks for help are the usual revolving door, dog chasing it's tail, responses. C'mon people!! If a user asks for help with a problem like this forum is SUPPOSED to address, give them the solutions, or get lost

Racemenu works perfectly ..... as long as I FIRST disable KS HDT-SMP hairs, and Yundao Hair w/Physics. If I EVER try to equip either of them in RM, or even the wigs they provide outside of RM, I get instant CTD's. I wish someone could explain WHY and WHAT I can do about it. And yes - ALL mods are current to my game version, incl. SKSE64, SkyUI, Racemenu, Engine Fixes, USSEP, etc. I have repeatedly monkeyed around with my load order for over a week now, and 4 new game starts - this issue has been ongoing - but nothing I do works. I am beginning to suspect that this time it is either the two hair mods, or the Physics Engine itself that's at fault here. I know, I know ....... a mod being the cultprit - unthinkable, because everyone knows mods are never at fault - it's always player-error ..... NOT!

Recommended Load Order by Mod Categories?
DaughertyUSMC replied to drcolossus's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
What would actually be nice to have is a mod manager that is interpretive enough to place mod categories already within correct load order sequences - so when one is finished installing ALL their mods, they are then placed by the mod manager into a categorically correct sequence, so that one could look at that, and be able to organize their plugins to match, AND have confidence that the load order will run the mods correctly as well as the game itself running stable. All that would be needed by the person using this is for them to have an understanding of what overwrites what, patches go under their parent mod, etc, etc. Now the real magic trick to pull from one's ass is to have someone actually read this who can create said mod manager, and then get it up onto Nexus. But the reality is crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which fills up faster, because I doubt anyone cares enough about lesser experienced players enough to implement such an undertaking! I wish I did - I am a retired Marine with nothing but time on my hands, and I would dedicate my time to creating such a thing if I knew how! I am really surprised no one has come up with this already! MO2 is as close as it comes and it does NOT facilitate what I am talking about here - it does nothing for the inexperienced user who has no clue what a proper load order should look like - I know I don't! And MO2 has NEVER helped me figure it out! Maybe it's time that it's creator(s) Looked at this and thought "Hmmm". -

Skyrim instantly crashes on save - please help!!
DaughertyUSMC replied to habaar's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
One can open the console (~ key) and simply type "save" "savename" and hit enter - this will effectively create a hard save 4 you. -
Manifest numbers on website already match those on the opened text file, so what am I supposed to do with that?

Making a Master File the "active plugin" in Creation Kit?
DaughertyUSMC replied to reindeer51's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Yeah - and THEN, what does one do with the .esp when done with edits??? Because, I used one to edit some miner's boots which are found in Skyrim.esm normally and there, they cannot be edited until a Wrye Bash .esp is made. Once I was done, the only seemingly obvious choice was to return it to the original .esm so the changes would take effect. BUT .... It also changed something else having to do with Navmesh, and once I got in-game, found that I could no longer fast-travel to any point on the map. And all I did was to edit the boots - in this case "Miner's Boots" to make them "Non-Playable". The reason for this is that Serana persists on self-equipping these boots after any cell change, totally ruining the overall effect of the awesome outfit I gave her. So all in all, not a great choice espyfying the games main .esm - especially when one such as myself has no idea how to work with these various tools, after literally 2 years of asking all over the place and receiving absolutely no help!!! Oh .. I read a LOT of forum crap, and user comments, etc but their like "everyone has a butthole and they all stink!". Meaning, everyone is an expert but noone knows a G'damn thing. -
I need a way to delete "Miner's Boots" from the game - XEdit finds them but offers no deletion, and as they stem from Skyrim.esm, it won't load in CK as it is a master I am using several mods, primarily dialogue types, but also the mod "Seranaholic". I have her tailored to what I wanted body-wise etc. and have provided her several different outfits (modded) BUT .... no matter what I give her to wear, regardless of superior armor value (Footwear), she "magically" produces and self-equips "Miner's Boots" of all things, after any cell change in the game. This has become a real issue. I really DO need a solution!!!! Can anyone who has experience please assist? Thanx! MD

Windows 10 Home reinstalled and my game is wrecked!
DaughertyUSMC replied to DaughertyUSMC's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Progress has been made - in-game console now works, again - it was a console related mod that worked fine for months in my game, but suddenly went tits-up, and borked the console functionality. Removing said mod fixed THAT particular issue. But I am STILL getting instant CTD's when trying to make a manual save, in a brand new game - this includes creating the FIRST MANUAL save in the new game - game DOES create it's own 1st autosave, just fine, but that will also CTD the game when trying to load IT. I have JUST downloaded SSE ... again ... but this time, I first deleted my entire main SSE folder, which effectively removed all mods/plugins/mod scripts, etc, then unistalled the game via Steam. So this should by all rights, have provided me with a fresh, brand new vanilla game to work with. And yet, I am getting these instant CTD's as described above. Try as I might, I cannot determine what - if anything - I may be missing from my game folder or PC itself, in terms of any additional software, etc. that is not already present within my operating system, that a game would require. I mean this is not the 1st time I have re-installed Windows, and had to thus, re-install my games and mods, so this is extremely vexing!!!!! -
Skyrim SE Crashes on save/quicksave/fast travel. Help?
DaughertyUSMC replied to crc1014's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Mine is CTD in a brand new game, on trying to make a manual save, or trying to load the game via the 1st, and only save the game made. Mods are all removed except: SKSE64 Unofficial Skyrim Patch SkyUI Alternative Start - Live Another Life But these were added AFTER new game start and 1st Skyrim.ini created, and these CTD's occurred even b4 ANY mods were added. Anyone who can help will be appreciated! -
Windows 10 Home reinstalled and my game is wrecked!
DaughertyUSMC replied to DaughertyUSMC's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Speculation perhaps - but an intelligent place to start .....Thanx! -
I had to refresh my OS, thus reinstalling Windows 10. I was able to keep my files and most of my apps. However, after ensuring that everything was brought back including a fresh reinstall of Skyrim SE, and verifying that my game version and SKSE, mods, etc were correct; plugins all re-enabled, the game's console suddenly stopped allowing me to select anything, or type anything, once opened via the "~" key. This was after running the game with 2 new saves made. Afterward, the game would crash instantly when selecting a save to load. So I copy/pasted my game's save folder to desktop, deleted the original save folder, uninstalled the game, which is located on an external drive, and removed any Skyrim instances from the registry. I then re-installed the game via Steam, and again, activated my plugins. Then began a new game. After creating my character, I saw that the console, though it would open, still had no function! I tried to save, and the game, again, instantly CTD'd. I reloaded the game, discovered that despite the CTD, it had in fact, made a save. Selecting the save caused yet again - instant CTD. I next replaced my original saves back into the new game save folder, restarted the game and saw that none of the saves showed - still only the one made with the new game. And yeah - it CTD'd again when I selected that save. I am now at a total loss as to how to fix this. If anyone can offer some help, I would hugely appreciate it!

Serana equips Miner's Boots - How do I make her stop?
DaughertyUSMC replied to DaughertyUSMC's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Alright ~ I believe I finally figured out a simple solution for the aforementioned issue, above. I used a mod that allows in-game editing the values of various items i.e. player stats, weapon stats, armor stats, etc. With this I was able to greatly increase the armor strength of the footwear I wanted her to use, above that of her vanilla stuff, and so far, so good. -
