Just as something to do. I installed regular Skyrim and it didnt crash. So I'm thinking it has to do with SE its self.

I purged everything from Nexus. and deleted the game folder in the app and game folder. I now remember that Steam did crash, could this be the cause of not launching the game?
So, you hit the PURGE Button in Vortex?
I use Nexus Mod Manager, sorry.

Hi! ive been having some trouble with my Skyrim se not being able to launch. The launcher pops up , i click play and the screen appears black for a 2 seconds and closes. I was running mods and everything went well but i found mods that peaked my interest (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43312?tab=description and https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2357?tab=description) so i decided to exit skyrim SE to download and install the mods. Also the same time my Titanfall 2 download was finished so i decided to open that first so it could install the necessary files it needed before going back to opening skyrim se. And that's where the problem began. I tried opening skyrim se but it just opens up for a split second and closes. So i decided to uninstall the mods that i recently installed but to no avail.
Things i tried:
*Uninstalled all mods
*reinstall skyrim se from steam (also deleted files from my documents and steam common and vortex mods)
*reinstalled microsoft redistributable visual c++ 2015-2019
*reinstalled directx 12
*validate game files
*clear steam download cache
I dont know if it was the titanfall installation or the mods i used that screwed up skyrimse , but all my other games are fine (ex. Fallout 4 with Script extender)

Not once did you mention if you PURGED the Mods BEFORE you did all of that.
If you didn't, then Vortex still believes that all of your mods are still installed.
I use Nexus, I just deleted it from my laptop. Do I need to delete the games Nexus folder that has all my mods? Sorry if this sounds dense.
If you didn't PURGE, then you left the Hardlinks between the installed mods and your Data folder.
Which means all of the Mod paths are still saved in C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\Vortex\
Also, unless you Manually Deleted your Game Folder, then those links are still there, so even when you install new mods, all your old ones are still there, because if you leave stuff in a Steam Game Folder, and Uninstall a game using Steam, it only knows to remove the Files that Steam installs, and it leaves everything else in the Folder.

This is happening to me as well. Last week I was able to play, now I cant even launch. Something changed in the download. I also tried launching without any mods. Reinstalled the game and even went to Bethesda themselves, and they only offered the same damn things I already tried. I sent them my DxDiag, so hopefully they can see something wrong. That I cannot see.

I've ran across this as well. I thought it was a few castle mods that was near Winterrun. I did all of the required missions, was made thane got the dialog that let me buy Breezehome. Went to the steward. He didnt have the dialog to buy the home. I tried my other home I liked to buy in Solitude. I got the mission from the yarl, did her mission for the helm and her submission. However, I am unable to buy the home.
I tried to a new install, removed mods that I thought was making so I couldn't buy, such a making the npcs pretty. Tried a new save, rushed through and still no buy option. Is there a way to force the buy option?

I stopped playing Fallout 4 in Early March because of a unknown bug with the settlement workbench where all the settlers started shooting down on top of the settlement workbench, even when nothing was built in the Settlement, the bug turned me off and made me turn to non Bethesda games!..
I'm going to try playing again, but this time without any creation club content, to see if it was creation club content causing the settlers to shoot down on the workbench!.
I noticed a lack of new creation club content since March and mostly updates to old creation club mods, when I'd checked for new creation club content over the last couple of months or so!..
I want to get all settlement's built and get all the achievements, but bugs in the game keep turning me off and away from playing!..
I dont know. I do know that sometime last year they introduced a game breaking bug (that still hasn't been fixed). When you go to Covenant and try to do the quest or pick something, I can no longer earn any xp. This is why, whenever I go near there I save beforehand and just passthrough.
Does anyone know how I can fix this game breaking bug. Also note I do not have any mod that changes Covenant. Or anything that alters the xp gain.

I haven't been able to access their site for about eight weeks now. Does LL have a discussion page away from their main site or somewhere we can check status updates?
Dang, that is about the time I started seeing a laggy connection. I asked on the Fallout 4 forums about Loverslab just a few minutes ago. Also this is bit disconcerting when I saw a file wanting to dl when I wasn't dling anything. I hope whatever the issue is, the admins there fix the website.
Awhile ago I scorched Earth my Skyrim game and mods, and the mods I have installed in Nexus I uninstalled, now they are dead installs. :(

Anyone else having problems getting in Loverslab today? For me, it has been slow to connect at which point, I see someting that has an x and says something like unable to reach.
Just wondering if it is just me.

Hi, I have taken your advise and started to delete some mods. So far (not cursing myself) it seems to be running a bit better. I haven't gotten to Winterhelm yet though. If/when I crash again I am going to start deleting more mods. Thank you btw for helping me :)

I have been tryng for the last 3 weeks trying to run Skyrim. However, after a bit i start to crash to a point where two times, it deleted my expansions. And i had to reinstall. Please help, I am tried of crashing every 5-10 minutes. I have tried Loot/Wyre Brush. I tried changing my load order, nothing seems to work. Please help.

I have been tryng for the last 3 weeks trying to run Skyrim. However, after a bit i start to crash to a point where two times, it deleted my expansions. And i had to reinstall. I have been watching videos and reading everything how how to make a stable load order, yet i still crash. :( . I need help help. Here is my load order.

Fallout 4, and for how long, instead of buying Fallout 76 right away?
I fell into the hype of Fallout 76, and thought, "Yeah, I might as well buy it as soon as it comes out", but then I reconsidered. My current plan is now to stay on Fallout 4 until Fallout 76 comes out, it's DLC's come out, and even after it's GOTY version comes out...you know, with all the DLCs added in. Until the price comes way down. Also, I am going to be busy running my Dry Ice Nation FB group....covering all the hockey teams in Arizona.
I's giving FO4 a long break. Many due to all of these cc updates and no bug fixes. I had plans on getting 76, but after these updates has soured me to it. :(

I can't imagine that running with an update pending would harm your save game. You're just locking your game down, so to speak, literally against unwanted intruders. Really the same thing I do with F4SE by following the protocol I described and I've never had a problem after playing tons of hours like that.

Setting FO4 to update only on launch indeed works, and you can avoid updates indefinitely via that setting, if you use F4SE. No need to go offline. BUT you have to run steam (not FO4, just steam) at some point in your session before launching F4SE so that the various steam processes are running in the background. (If you go to task manager after launching and closing steam, you can see the processes I'm talking about.) In a recent thread on the subject (like, maybe a week ago), Pra even shared a script/bat file from which you can launch F4SE that'll warn you if Steam hasn't been run yet - a safeguard against running F4SE without having those steam processes running in the background, 'cuz sometimes you can just plain forget.
Question, will update pending harm my game save? So far it hasn't. I am able to launch and play.

I have to rant and I cannot contact Bathesda!
So in Steam settings for Fallout 4 I have it set to only update on game launch and I launch via F4SE. My understanding is I should not get updates.
Yesterday I logged into Steam and Fo4 had (update paused) next to it. The last time I exited Steam and went offline that was not there. I decided to go ahead and update. And of course that screwed with some of my mods and I still don't have all that sorted out. After the update completed I went back into Steam offline mode.
Today I received a message stating Steam needed an update. Thinking it was actually Steam that needed the update I logged in. It couldn't be Fo4 right? Because I updated that yesterday. Yes it was Fallout 4 that needed another freaking update! It says update paused next to the game. I went into Steam discussion and posted something similar to this and now I am here.
I have had it with Bathesda. I will not purchase Fallout 76 and will not purchase the new Skyrim when it finally releases as long as Bathesda does game updates like Fo4.
My question is, is there a way to avoid the updates? Is there a legal way to play Fo4 on pc without going through Steam?

I am right there with you. These are pointless money grubbing. The only time they tried to bud fix was two updates ago, and that broke a few things. The best thing I could offer is make a backup copy of both the FO4 launchers and keep them safe. Next when you go to your FO4 folder in steam, right click the both apps and make them read-only. This will negate any patching. You will still updated but it wont destroy your folder or apps. And if they do, you have a backup copy, just drag into your folder and overwrite.
I have the steam pending, and I am still able to play. :smile: I hope this helps you out.
I also agree that I cant wait for 76 so Beth leaves us the hell alone. In fact I am debating on waiting until November to play again, or January when I get a new laptop. I have no interest in 76 because of these pointless "updates". I respect the modders that want to get paid for their work. I just dont like how Beth is doing it. And if you think about it, this game is not an online service, it is a transactional service. Offline games dont have a terms of service. Yet we are "required" by steam to update. And there isn't any kind of bug fixes.

I tried the steam console revert method and even after copying over the old exe from june the game is broken, I can't load a save; I can't make a new game, I can't open the mod list either, it hangs on load with a loop of the power armour video in the background.

I had this happen to me last time. I even asked Beth to help and what they said is "due to my computer not meeting the bare minimum as of the last update they are unable to help me." It broke everything, I tried every thing I could think of. What helped was whipping out everything FO4 related, from the ini files, to the game directory. Your computer as of this moment doesn't meet the minimum anymore, sadly.
Try undeleting the game, disable every mod you have, and then delete any FO4 folder from the ini files to directory.

How is it possible for an update to be forced? I have staem offline with only update when i am not even online, plus i have my launcher read only, which also serves as write protected.
The last update made my computer unable to play, and this update will destroy it yet again.

You are missing a good chunck of your pref ini. everything below [lod] is gone. There is suppose to be so much more, such as NVhbe0, NVFlex, BlurshaderHDR, Laucher, and Betheada.net. It would seem that you deleted these parts of the ini file. If your game never had them, then you need to uninstall and reinstall. Afterward log in once play for a few minutes. You will get these parts back.

Ever since I was forced to update last week, I have been crashing to desktop on entering Diamond City. This happens after reaching level 17 or higher, I have no idea on why this is happening. Or even how to fix this.

I had my update when I launched, but I was just now foreced to update. Luckily I was able to revert back to a pervious game version. Now I am forced to restart due to this forced update causes me to crash on trying to get into Diamond City. After five CDT's, this is the only thing that I can come up with, for me to crash.

I was able to find what was going on. Someone on the Steam boards and sent a link to where I could easily follow. I never knew I had to add a game to my graphics nor have Windows run off my card.
Which is odd, before I never had to do this without any crashes. Thank you for helping me :). There some good things I learned and did. I now switch from the old Nexus Mod Manager to the community NMM. And can now download directly.
