  1. Right after a Windows update, i started to get severe, consistent FPS lagging (like, 20 fps instead of 60). trying to quit to desktop also makes my entire computer freeze (like i can't just ctrl-alt-delete out of the game freezing upon quit like i used to be able to). i uninstalled the game, deleted any trace of it i could think of from my computer (the Steam folder and the My Games folder specifically-- any other places i should look?), reinstalled my NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled the game, ensured that the game was running w/the correct graphics settings (instead of yknow integrated graphics which was my first guess as to why things were so f*#@y) and tested a vanilla run of it and.... no dice. the only place i actually get 60 FPS is in the menus. everything else is 20 at *best*. the game freezes and brings my computer down with it upon exit. wtf?!? (also should note that i tested other games to see if it's specific to skyrim or not and other games seemed to work just fine) *edit* Solved! it was a roblem with the windows update f*#@ing up my directx and/or a corrupt save screwing with everything else. i uninstalled and reinstalled vc_redist.x86 and x64, uninstalled and reinstalled skyrim *again* (making sure this time to uncheck the option in steam that saves all ur stuff to a cloud), and voila!
  2. i was looking for something like that! i just used it and at least i learned that a lot of what seems to be the problem is from the door entries in mines and caverns. interestingly though those aren't listed as conflicting with any of the other dwarven ruin mods i have. any conflicts any of these mods had were with the morrowind esm itself (and none of them involved door entries). there were a couple potential landscape conflicts that i'm about to check out.
  3. I noticed that in Dwemer ruins added by the Mines and Caverns mod (and in some other caverns/etc), I'll get these blank spaces where another texture or mesh should be. for the dwemer ruins, is this due to a conflict between Dwemer Rebirth Project or Greater Dwemer Ruins (specifically the tileset)? Is it a load order issue (ex: should i load mines and caverns before GDR; currently mines and caverns is loaded after GDR and DRP) or is it something that might take more manual fiddling around and troubleshooting? it is a little puzzling to me because mines and caverns states to be compatible with GDR+DRP). interestingly, i don't get any missing texture or mesh warnings whenever i enter a space where this issue occurs. so i'm assuming it's not *missing*, technically? i dunno tho an example posted here: https://imgur.com/cHMxSqR (im assuming this blank space should actually be 'in_dwrv_corr2_01' and its corresponding textures as are correctly shown on the opposite wall)
  4. I'm getting way more CTDs than I used to as well (i used to get virtually none) now that i've updated to the newest skse. I do actually notice something of a pattern with mine, though, in that they seem to happen far more frequently with trying to load autosaves and quicksaves than with hard-saves.
  5. Hey all! For quite some time now, I have noticed that runes and shadowmarks (when on houses/buildings-- they still show up on the barrels) aren't visible in my game. When I google this, all of the advice points to ensuring that decal quality under graphics settings is set to medium or higher. The thing is, my decal quality IS set to high! I've troubleshooted a little bit with a few of the mods I thought would be obvious culprits (dungeon texture mods like ruins clutter improved, skyland's nordic ruins, etc), but those aren't the problem either. I'll post my mod list/load order here (that i ran thru LOOT) in case anyone sees something weird. Thanks! https://modwat.ch/u/katbird/modlist
  6. It seems that the only mods that add hair mostly import a bunch of hairdos from The Sims without really narrowing down which hairstyles make sense (ie: don't clip thru the chest, don't add accessories that are super modern-looking and thus immersion-breaking and silly). It would be nice to have a hair mod that is a lot more selective: adds better short hair options for women, adds realistic hairstyles in better textures/meshes for everyone. Another idea I had that's a lot more complicated revolves around Windhelm: if you're a dunmer/argonian/khajiit, you're able to waltz right in without anything happening. You can shop in the normal quarters, get a room in Candlehearth Hall. The only thing that happens is the barkeep at Candlehearth Hall says something obnoxious and racist. What if a quest mod was made wherein: -If you're a Dunmer, at first, you're only able to shop and sleep in the Grey Quarter. If you enter Candlehearth Hall, the barkeep kicks you out. The barter option for the blacksmith and other shopkeepers is removed. You're not allowed into the Palace of the Kings. -If you're an Argonian or a Khajiit, you're straight up not allowed into the city. No if's, and's, or but's. The quest, then, would lead to two possible outcomes: gaining the player character alone access to the rest of the city and acceptance from the Nords, OR, bettering the lives of yourself AND your fellow Dunmer/Argonians within Windhelm. The former would be easier and rely on something like speech skill checks (somewhat high so it's not too easy), while the latter would be a lot more difficult but ultimately more fulfilling and could have many potential avenues for successful completion. I suppose the Civil War questline could conflict with this idea? It could also dovetail into it, though, as an Imperial victory and the placement of Brunwulf as Jarl could be steps on the way to a successful quest completion. One other idea, tho i have no idea if it's actually possible: being able to side with the Forsworn for real, not just gaining one non-hostile redoubt when you side with Madanach (also god that quest is buggy.... smh).
