1. @kravansh Thank you, so much, for the tip on how to get rid of that wretched "double face bug" spell in my menu. :) What an immersion-wrecking thing!! I imagine the mod authors have covered the issue somewhere, but there is just an awful lot of literature to wade through on that mod. Your answer came up sooner on a google search.
2. I don't know if you have the $10 version of Xpadder. I figured it would be worthwhile as I move backwards from Skyrim to Oblivion. Maybe I will make it to Morrowind. Anyway, I was having the same trouble as you until I figured out how to load Primal Fear's alternative profile (he/she has two controller profiles) from the Xpadder forum on their own page. That guy seems to be actively engaged with that forum, so if you have a question (I had a very dumb one) he seems likely to answer it promptly. The buttons will not be quite the same as Xbox Oblivion when it comes to menus and such, but the important stuff-- combat, movement-- is pretty much the same with fairly minimal loss of play control. If you agree that a controller is mandatory, for ergonomic reasons or whatever, I would give the Primal Fear profiles a try.
3. Oh for the love of Sovngard, I need help. Has not anyone else experiences problems with this recurring bit of Papyrus (last lines before CTD)?: [10/26/2012 - 05:16:31PM] error: Cannot call GetValueInt() on a None object, aborting function call stack: [ (0200B282)].DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.OnUpdateGameTime() - "DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.psc" Line 39 [10/26/2012 - 05:16:31PM] warning: Assigning None to a non-object variable named "::temp6" stack: [ (0200B282)].DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.OnUpdateGameTime() - "DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.psc" Line 39 Might I be able to disable that item associated with DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT without totally destroying the world?
4. Hi guys, would love some help. I have had problems since installing Dawnguard. I love it- - I love Dawnguard. I would rather have DG than pretty much any and all mods... except the UNP body replacer and say Trees for Solitude-- hey, aesthetics are my main thing for mods. Anyway, DG doesn't seem to like the Skyrim environment that I dropped it into. First I got a soul cairn ctd. I reloaded an autosave (according to a lot of people, that was one of my first mistakes). Since then, a bounty of ctds and freezes. Thing is, I would love to junk most of my mods and keep DG, but I am not sure that is an option. I will try it. If that fails I will uncheck DG instead. This is a 550-hour 62nd-level character (I know, ridiculous; I guess I am a "role-player"), so I am guessing those mods are so baked into my saves that my only hope is to scrap DG AND keep the mods. Though, granted, I try to avoid mods with scripts, and I attempted the "stopquest zGoreEffectsNPCQuest" -type console commands to uninstall "Enhanced Blood Textures", the one mod I've used that has a script folder as far as I know. Bye the way, my papyrus logs keep showing a repeating error on the DAWNGUARD RUNE AXE .psc. I've never touched that weapon or quest. I've used the Dust Drop fix provided by Steve40 to get rid of the fxDustDropRandomSCRIPT error, but that rune axe one, man, don't know how to get rid of that. My savegame is 14.5mb. 6. I also see a lot of that DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.psc Dawnguard Rune Axe script error. Is there any chance that is caused by a mod, like something affecting Smithing perks, or a weapon mod?

8. AcidZebra, thank you for the useful tips. I'm going to try to monitor some of the processes running in the background pursuant to your instructions. Ishara, my gut still tells me you are on to something in terms of this abstract "limit".
9. IsharaMeradin, your theory is pleasing, insofar as it helps me accept that my game is not this invincible thing that I can rely on unconditionally... I'm trying to be careful with my mod use but have undoubtedly screwed up once or twice or thrice. Any number of crashes or freezes are unacceptable to me. But this week something just broke. Still, I got through two giant, epic games, I mean like combat-intensive ten-hour sessions, and it was THEN, at the end that I got my CTD (two of the three instances anyway). Maybe letting the game cool down (i.e. rebooting computer to clear memory) once in a while might help.
10. To Georgiegril, Ishara, Redwulf, StayFrosty, and other early responders on this one-- thank you. One more thing to rule out when it comes to sorting out my recent instability issue! Not sure whether to give you a smiley face or not for that, though. ;)
11. For people just joining us, for additional clarity on the "dirty edits" appearing in BOSS under Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, etc., see http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/808774-tes5edit-experimental-is-now-available-for-experience-testers-to-try-o/ and http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/809181-boss-reporting-dirty-edits/page__gopid__6479523#entry6479523 The short answer is yeah, they are false positives. Your problem lies elsewhere.
12. I just discovered the same problem tonight. I mean, I had a ctd, and two freezes all in an hour-- and I have went maybe a hundred hours or more without any mod conflicts or crashes. I ran BOSS and got the exact same message under Update.esm that you quote above. I usually play off-line because I have a sluggish internet connection, so I wondered if there is a new update. I see there is a 1.8 beta update from two days ago, but I don't have that-- not that I can ever figure out where to see what version I am on, but I am pretty sure it is 1.77. As for scrapping some mods, I got rid of Climates of Tamriel because I was playing it with Dawnguard but without the Dawnguard patch for that mod and was convinced that caused the problem (the DG-friendly update for that mod only came out recently. However, the description of CoT always said "Currently, you can play Climates Of Tamriel with Dawnguard but this mod will affect a component of Dawnguard"). Anyway, I scrapped CoT, my only recent mod, but my problems persist. All I can think of is that BOSS is showing that message because BOSS has the 1.8 beta patch-- but that is pure conjecture. In any event, it is possible the message has nothing to do with our ctds, and we have two totally unrelated problems and the BOSS run was prudent but a red herring nonetheless. Anyone else out there?
