  1. Hey Groundwar, you're not really giving us enough information to give you an answer. What's your friends PC Specs? What Mods is he running? What Mod Manager is he using? What's his load order? These are things that are needed if you're expecting any kind of help at all. Please reply with this information at your nearest convenience for help. MS
  2. This almost certainly is a write issue. The mods are activating via NMM, but they aren't actually installed. Remove Everything, literally go to your Skyrim folder in the Steam installation location and just delete the folder named Skyrim. Same with NMM, get rid of it aswell as the hard files of the mods you've downloaded. Also the Skyrim Folder in Documents. Now when you reinstall Skyrim Via Steam, make sure you load steam up with Administrator Rights. To stop this issue happening again just give it perm admin rights, Do the same with NMM, Admin it. Now every time you load either up, you should get a popup asking if it's ok. A pain but better then nothing. Now when installing your Mod List. Anything that YOU have to run manually HAS to be run as Administrator. SKSE & FNIS are great examples of this. I honestly recommend setting anything that installs/Changes/Modifys anything to do with Skyrim Should be given perm Admin rights so these problems don't occur later down the line. Keep me informed if this works or fails and I'll set some time aside to go through it all with you personally. MS.
  3. Hey thunderwolf86, I don't think it's the PC at fault, unless your HDD is on its way out. I assume you've got the Nexus Mod Manager(NMM) installed and an Icon on the desktop. Simple steps. 1) Right Click the NMM Icon on the desktop. 2) Select Properties 3) Select Compatability Tab at the top. 4) Click the blank square next to "Run as Administrator" 5) Click Ok & Now load NMM and try again. See if that fixes the issue, It could be that you've got UAC active and windows isn't bringing up the prompt for whatever reason. Also it could be a firewall prompt that isn't working. The final resort would be uninstalling NMM and reinstalling to see if that fixes the issue. Keep us updated as you try things so we can give you other options to try. MS
  4. Hey Ma9nUs, Just to be sure, once you install the Mods with NMM. Are you clicking the Load Order tab at the top left of the app and making sure that they are ticked before loading SKSE? For some reason or another after reinstalling Skyrim and NMM, my NMM wasn't enabling/ticking the mods automatically. It has since resolved itself, but wasn't doing so at the start. Let me know if this is the case, if not we'll look into another method for solving the issue. MS.
  5. Glad to help man. I've left you a reply to the PM you sent me. If anyone else has issues like stated in the OP feel free to drop me an inbox for advice, but know that if the symptoms are the exactly the same then the only real option is a new save file with altered Load Order and Installed Mods. MS.
  6. I've replied to the inbox you gave me detailing what everything means. But I'll put it here aswell so others can benefit from it. 1) wowsummoners01script.psc is from the Mod Wizards of Winterhold 2) fxDustRandomSCRIPT.psc is the random dust that falls down the screen in the dungeons. Disabling this feature requires Unofficial Skyrim Patch. 3) VM is Freezing... Is when the game initiates the pause on the game when opening the menu via "TAB" by default. 4) VM is Frozen... Is when the game has successfully paused when opening the menu via "TAB" by default. 5) Saving game... should only happen if you have the Auto-Save feature enabled via the settings to save when exiting the menu. The moment you said you can't upgrade Health, Magicka or Stamina when opening the Skills Menu, you should of realised that your save data is a lost cause. I've given you some steps to attempt in the PM, but I'm not hopeful. The scripts installed by some of your mods are interferring with the scripts of the quest, disable them and try again or start a new save file are the only real options. MS.
  7. Sure man. What kind of playthrough are you looking to get into? Are you wanting just aesthetic mods or perhaps immersive mods to make the game as realistic as possible? It all depends on what type of playthrough you're wanting to get into. MS.
  8. Then you've answered your own question, I know it's a disappointing answer, but look on the bright side. You get to enjoy this awesome game again. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of any help dude. MS
  9. Hey Morjik, Congrats on solving half the problem dude. Your save file isn't corrupted so no need to worry. I actually came across a similar issue a while back. Basically I had too many things trying to sort my load order and they were ever so slightly changed on each program after I ran them. You say you're getting an Infinite Loading Loop? May I ask if you have Alternate Start installed? If you do, can you drop it to the very bottom of your load order on your prefered launcher (NMM, SKSE or MO) and attempt a load. If this doesn't work load up all your Mod Organisers and put it at the bottom and attempt to load the save with each. Let me know what you find. Unfortunatly I can't comment on Camaro's post as I play with a lot of mods installed and have never had to use the methods he's given, though I've known others who have mentioned the same thing. Ms.
  10. No problem man, just remember. Doesn't matter if you've got a High End System, the game utilises 2GB Ram Max without the patch. So it can cause problems, just saying you may want to look into it. Good Luck ^.^ MS.
  11. Just because that's your native resolution, doesn't mean that your computer can handle running Skyrim at that Resolution with the settings on full. Drop your settings, if that fails, lower your resolution and see if it works.
  12. Hey XxSlime, Just curious, but your graphics is a GPU right ? What Resolution are you playing on? If it's a high resolution say 1920x1080, try changing your desktop resolution to a smaller one that fits the screen perfectly. When you've found one load skyrim and change the game resolution to that and see if you still CTD. Just a guess, but I'm thinking you're probably playing on too high a resolution. MS
  13. Or he could just download the SKSE_Installer.exe from the website and run it from where ever he wants and it'll do everything for him including, but not limited to putting the SKSE Skyrim Launcher on the desktop.
  14. Hey Morjik, Do me a favour and download Mod Organiser, but during the installation untick the box that allows it to handle NMM Files (otherwise you're in for trouble). Once it's installed, run it as Admin and on the right side of the program box you'll see a tab that says Saves. You should be able to click a save and view the mod list that was used, use MO to reactivate the mods and load the game. MO should really take care of everything and load the game the exact way it's needed to run for that save. If it works compare your Load Order to NMMs and see if anything has changed or moved. MS
  15. Hey wesman63, There are 2 possible reasons for this. 1) There is an item in that strongbox that is conflicting with a mod you've installed. However this is unlikely. 2) There is a massive list of items in that strongbox and the game is crashing to load in so much at once. I'm not going to comment about the fact that you've for some reason brought a console save over to PC, but just to confirm. If you have the Unofficial Skyrim Updates installed they could have also changed items that wouldn't have been changed on the console version, which supports reason 1. I'll look into this and see if I can reproduce your situation on my game. MS
  16. So you started the quest, but didn't finish it? Then Barbus the dog should be following you around until you complete it. If he's not then something has gone wrong. I suggest you complete the quest and see if it stops, if you can't find him you could just use console commands to advance the quest and complete it, just to see if that solves the issue. Just on a side note, I've had a similar issue, but without the dog quest. What system are you using to play and what type of graphical setup have you got? You could be running too high textures for your PC to handle and when it struggles to put the textures out fast enough the game CTDs. Atleast that was my problem. Do you think that could be something to do with it? MS.
  17. The suggestion is pretty much unanimous dude. If you're updating your game and using save files pre-update, then you need to start a new. your save data will have script files from the old marriage mod still saved in it. Not only that but alot of things have changed since the updates. That being said I'm not one to tell you to start over without giving you a test to try out. 1) Disable all Marriage Mods via NMM. You could even go as far as uninstalling them. 2) Load your save file and divorce/ use console to remove any marriages you may have (google how to do this). 3) Wait 48 Hours in game and then save to a new slot. 4) Reinstall/Reactivate your UPDATED marriage mod. 5) Attempt to get married. If these steps don't work. Then you are going to have to start again and not with any of the old saves. Unfortunatly what you are trying do isn't plausible, so if you want the updates then you may have to suck it up and restart the game. Which let's face it Skyrim isn't exactly a bad game to start again on and the game becomes boring once you're all super duper almighty dragonborn. Anyway I hope it works out for you dude.
  18. I'm glad that it worked for you man, now that I know this works for you it means you probably have the same problem as myself. I use a HDTV as a Monitor, but not the HDMI. I use a VGA cable and certain Resolutions will cause my screen to not line up with the TV edges. So here's what you do, You right click the desktop > Screen Resolution > Then you go down the list till you find a lower Resolution that fits the screen. Once you find a few sizes that fit, load up skyrim full screen with each resolution till the game actually works in fullscreen mode. I will keep looking for a better solution, but for now I'm glad that it's working for you. MS
  19. If you've done a clean install with fresh .ini files and attempted to boot the game as vanilla and it's not loading properly. It suggests that there is an issue with the hardware or the OS. I know for fact that Skyrim runs on Windows 8.1 as my brother plays it on that though he and myself bought the game with the DLCs seperate. So my initial advise would be to check to see if the graphics drivers are up to date. Now if you don't mind running some experiments and giving me the results we may be able to get this bad boy working :) 1) Try booting the game in windowed mode. 2) Lower the resolution that you are loading the game up. Any resolution that the Monitor supports should be tested. We know that Skyrim is a beast of a game, but let's face it. It's not very well optimised and the problems that people face vary from machine to OS. I had an issue when upgrading my monitor, I jumped from 1440x900 to 1920x1080 in resolution and as it turns out 1920x1080 is too much for my little rig to run Skyrim and it wouldn't let me play unless it was windowed. So that makes me believe you should attempt Windowed and Lower Resolutions even if it's just to exclude them from the list of potential problems. MS
  20. Yeah I've got Sofia as a follower and I use her quite a bit. The Wolf Follower I also have installed, but it's riddled with problems at the moment. Some times it doesn't grow up properly and it growls constantly. I'm personally waiting till it's fine tuned, then I'll give it another go. But it's good that you're finding stuff on your own :D keep us posted on new things you find, and I'll keep posting on things I come across that may be of interest. MS.
  21. Doesn't sound like one, I'm starting to think that It's maybe your installation that's the problem. Though I'm not entirely sure, but it's definatly starting to look that way.
  22. Not a problem, It's what we are here for and I've had my fair share of help from notmyhome lol. I do indeed know of a few, so here we go. Sofia: The Funny Follower - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54527/? Sofia isn't really immersive because all she does is make jokes about everything, but ever since she joins you, you HAVE to provide all her equipment. Also she interacts with other NPCs and the environment, giving you information on areas and quoting your current quests so you don't forget them. She is a Spell Sword, but if you open the console and click her, then type this line without the quotes. "setlevel 1000 0 1 100" She'll become a Ranger Character, then you simply give her a Bow and Arrows and remove her sword. Uga The Hunter Understudy - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56377/? I don't know much about Uga, but unlike Sofia she starts as a Huntress, which means no fiddling about with the console and no glitches where she can revert back to her sword. She's an Elf so she's definatly lore friendly and she's not so bad on the eyes either. The Huntresses - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41669/? Unfortunatly I'm too knowledgeable on these followers either, but from what I understand, they are related Aela The Huntress and are pretty much the same as Aela so if you wanted the Werewolf Syndrome I'm guessing you could find a "mate" amongst one of these. I'm sorry to disappoint with my short list, but all in all these are the Lore Friendly ones that I would personally go with. I have Sofia Installed already and I'm considering installing Uga right now as she seems to be pretty much what I've been looking for also. There are others on the Nexus, a lot of them, but I searched only for Huntress Types to fit your style of play. If you want different types, Spell Sword, Dual Weilder, Mage etc etc then all you have to do is click this link and you can browse them. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=96 I hope you find what you're looking for :) MS
  23. Hey PlagueWarden, Glad to see another RP Hunter on the forums, maybe I can help. 1) You could install a Custom Follower to suite your needs of a Hunter Wife, but out of the NPCs. Aela The Huntress was a hunter before joining the Companions & Mjoll The Lioness was a travelling Mercenary/Adveturer who also had to "live off the land" sort of speak. So either would be immersive and realistic, though a Custom Follower would probably be your best bet. 2) notmyhome gave you the best answer. 3) Lake Ilianata has a Sunken Ship that is broken in half. Follow the road past that slightly and on the left there is an opening in the trees where a few of the trees have been cut down. It's right on the road which is the only problem. Another area I like for a small camp is the other side Lake Ilianata. Find one of the small circular pieces of land on the lake side and setup there, you won't be disappointed. There's a mod that can allow you to make your camp a home for your spouce and you can find the link at the bottom of this post. I'm sure there's another mod that can make your followers also share your home so they'll return there should you get split up or dismiss them. Spouces Can Live Anywhere: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11370/? My Home Is Your Home: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18045/? (For Followers) Finally if you're looking for some real immersion here's my favourite mod so far. It's called Take Notes! and basically gives the player an ingame journal they can write there adventures in, but I use a bit differently. I write Recipes for Potions, Poisons, Cooking Recipes & the value of pelts etc etc. To give myself a bit more immersion. Take Notes!: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48375/? Send me a PM if you want to chat or discuss play styles. It would be cool to hear about other peoples experiences, locations and equipment etc etc. You could even RP it and I'll be another hunter exchanging information lol. Anyway good luck with your playthrough, I hope these help. MS
  24. I'm absolutly positive that it will not change your load order. The only way it could possibly be changed is if you have subscribed to new mods on Steam Workshop and they start to download via the Launcher. It will just add them to the bottom of the list. That's is the only change that can possibly happen. You see when you use NMM and configure the load order with it, the changes are automatically applied to the Skyrim Launcher via steam. Also if you move anything on the Skyrim Launcher the reverse effect will happen, it'll change on NMM. This only happens if you personally move something though. It can't happen by it's self. Changing settings that you can configure in with the Launcher in the Skyrim.ini is a bad idea, one wrong variable will cause the game to fail loading up or cause CTD in game. It's safer to use the Launcher to configure most options and only tweak the ini for options that aren't available in the launcher.
  25. Ok so your Skyrim.ini was using old settings, then you definatly need to delete both Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini in that folder run the Skyrim Launcher (It will not change the load order at all) to create new ones using the settings you input there. That will sort out the ugliness of your game and make sure it's using the correct equipment (i.e graphics card etc etc) Also if you have a high native resolution say 1920x1080 in 16:10. Try lowering that to smaller Resolution that still fits the screen (you may need to experiment a bit here). If you're worried about the load order changing, take a screenshot of what it was before and then you can compare and reorder the mods to the way you liked them before. It really is that simple. All in all the process should take you maybe 20 minutes? Time well spent if it makes your game run the way you want it to. MS.
