  1. If you look through the archives here and on the other support sites, you will find that this problem has been around for years and is fairly widespread. So far, the people at Bethesda have done nothing to fix it. It started doing it to me a few days ago. When you try to go into the magic menu, it CTDs. I have seen a LOT of people try a LOT of things and nothing seems to work except starting a new game and wiping out all of your old saves. Although some people have gotten lucky and fixed it by removing and then relearning spells. What really ticks me off is the complete lack of interest the program authors seem to have in fixing a MAJOR gamebreaker. The game can be unstable enough without this stuff happening every time you need to change spells. For me, I only noticed it when I went to change my shout to the Vampire form spell. I have no idea when it actually broke because I had not changed spells in almost 900 saves. It's very frustrating when you see a lot of posts from users having the same major problem and absolutely no help from the designers. I guess that once they have your money, they just don't care. My Daughter tells me they are working on an Elder Scrolls 6. Here is a novel idea for Bethesda... How about fixing thee overpriced mess that is Skyrim, before making a new overpriced bug pile. As for me, I finally gave up, wiped my saves, and started a new game from scratch. There goes hundreds of hours playtime, but it was my only remaining option. Now I am having new fun and games, with it CTDing as soon as I enter the first town at the beginning of the game.
  2. I am having the same exact issue. I buy Breezehome, go to it, hit E to unlock the door and open it. It gores to the loading screen with the little indicator bar in the upper right corner, then drops me to the desktop. I am running no mods that affect breezehome, just a couple of texture mods like CBBE. This is on a relatively fresh install too. My system stats are, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T CPU MSI 990FXA-GD80 motherboard 16GB Corsair Vengeance PC 1333 RAM HIS AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB PCIE card Over 5 TB of free hard drive space. Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro sound card Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit, fully up to date. If anyone can solve this issue, it would be great. I just started this new game after reinstalling because it started doing this on my old game.
  3. Thanks. I have already been through all the mods. I might just do a reinstall if I can find where the uninstaller is..
  4. Neither worked. Still crashesa back to the desktop right after the Betheesda logo, as soon as it starts to display the next logo.
  5. Hi Folks. I am hoping someone here can help me. I was unable to use skyrim for a while and when I started playing it again, now whenever I start the program, either through the launcher or skse, it crashes back to the desktop after the Bethesda Logo displays. I have tried disabling all my mods and actually deleting them, but it still happens. The one thing I did notice is that if I use the skyrim launcher, and og to the settings page, it displays my old video card, which I upgraded a fewq weeks ago. It shows my old ATI Radeon HD 4870x2 instead of my new HD 6970 card. I don't see any way to change this setting and I am wondering if this could be causing the issue. Does anyone know why it isn't detecting the new card and how I can change it? Thanks in advance. Rich
  6. Hi folks. I am having a major issue in Skyrim. First off, I am running With both the Dawnguard and Hearthfire add-ons installed. I have done several clean installs with no mods at all other than Dawnguard and Hearthfire. I am running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit. I have 16GB of RAM and a relatively fast video card with 2GB of VRAM. I have all the latest drivers installed for video and sound, as well as Windows being fully up to date. The issue is simple... When I speak to a Jarl, I obtain a series of quests. After the completion of those quests, he or she tells me to talk to the steward to buy a house. But when I go to talk to him, there is no option to buy the house. I try several times and still no option. So I tried to go out of the hall and re-enter. When I do that, the Steward will not talk to me at all other than their canned phrases. Again, all quests are complete and I am also at sufficient level. I CAN however buy land.. It makes no sense, Has anyone come up with a way to fix this. Bethesda support is about as useful as a raincoat in a desert. Thanks for your time. Rich
  7. I am having the exact same issue. I still haven't figured a way to fix it.
