  1. Hey guys, Have my lost my touch at searching, or is no one as yet come up with a mod that lets you access the inventories of party members who aren't currently selected? Like, I don't currently have Gale in my troop, but he has this circlet I think would be better for Halsin - but first I have to drop Astarion /and put up with him whining) so I can select Gale to check, and then, no Gale DOESN'T have the stupid thing, so was it Shadowheart? Ad nauseam. AAARGH!!! This would be a MASSIVE QOL improvement, and it seems like the kind of thing some modder would have done aeons ago. (Or is there something about the way the game's made that makes this harder than I think?)
  2. I'm seeing some stuff I like in there! Couple thoughts: - I'm not sure about giving Nexus a cut of donations, though, since I can donate and/or become a premium users anyway. (Which I DO plan to do, btw - just not there yet!) I'd rather keep my contributions separate. - I like the idea of some kind of identification. I mean, yeah, there ARE some issues about showing off what an incredible philanthropist ("philmoderist"?) you are (people should be able to choose anonymity if they desire, and the amount should remain private) - but there is some incentive there to! For example: I'm a Linus Techtips fan, and I recently made a tiny contribution to their office relocation project. Though I don't use their forums much, I noticed that I got a cool "office builder" badge.
  3. That's a weird one. Over the last week or so my gaming rig has had more trouble running Nexus on Chrome than any actual games! If I have 4 or 5 tabs open, my CPU usage shoots off the chart, and the pages often just crash. I'm not having these problems with any other websites; also, as far as I can tell, the problems are NOT connected to forum view but to the "mainsite" view. When I have a window opn, Chrome often fails to complete page loading - at the bottom of the page I get a "Waiting for" message followed by a stream of file names like "xp2-something" or "ad-afy-something." Any idea what could be going on?
  4. Looks great! As LoneWolfEburg mentioned, Trade & Barter does provide some of the economic aspects - though it doesn't go so far as to have shop- and/or innkeepers throw out Altmer, something I would love to see. A couple of thoughts, though: - As soon as CWO v.4 is out of alpha I plan to role play as an Altmer-Stormcloak wannabe. I think it ought to be possible to do that - though maybe more difficult. Ideally, there would be some considerable unfriendliness toward him, slowly leading to (grudging) admiration. - I also notice that the Altmer-Stormcloak thing isn't all that simple - Ulfric, as it turns out, was a collaborator - and EVERYONE hates them, not just the Sons of Skyrim. - Modding projects like this often seem to depend on voice files - but I actually think there should be good material for what you want to do! (OTOH, I doubt whether you'd find enough to really make a meal of my Altmer's journey into the heart of the Stormcloaks.)
  5. I love the idea of Wasteland 2 - but as someone who discovered PC gaming later in life (I'm 42 and I started gaming 3 years ago!), I'm (a) more fascinated by beautiful graphics than people who have been gaming long enough to get a little blasé and( b) don't have enough history with a game like this to (easily) see past its kind of clunky graphics. So ... I'm really hoping that Wasteland 2 will attract modders, particularly of the kind who start churning out some of them glorious tex/mesh packs. It seems like the sort of game that would attract that sort of people - and, I THOUGHT a modding kit was even one of W2's stretch goals - though I can't seem to find anything about that on Google. What do you all know?
  6. I converted my PC to water cooling, and it now runs silently and looks mind-bogglingly cool. The only problem is that I messed up some NTFS junctions in the process, and STEAM no long sees my Skyrim directory. (I had used one of the automated steam-mover utilites to move all of my steam games to a secondary SSD.) I'm assuming that my best bet is the following: - Re-Create Junction to an empty folder on the secondary SSD - Reinstall Skyrim from Steam - Overcopy the new installation with my old folders
  7. Heya! I just wanted to say thanks for your advice. Some RL stuff got in the way, and I haven't had much time to play (and play with) DA:O, but having now arrived in Denerim, it's pretty clear that I'm borked - getting crashes all over. I had initially removed JB3 and kept on playing, thinking I was going to be OK. Got a few crashes, but I figured that was just life with mods. Now that I'm in Denerim it's clear that I need to get my IA issues worked out better and re-start Denerim (at least). (Unless I want to play the game with half the people in their skivvies ... ) I'll ask more specific questions in the IA thread. (There seems to be a more recent "fix" download for IA ... I'm hoping that it'll solve the crashes without having to restart.) For now, thanks again!
  8. Oh, shoot! Being a veteran of Skyrim modding (i.e., having laid waste to countless savegames!) I always preach "safer modding" to Skyrim newbies. But it looks like I messed up on my first attempt with this game. So ... uh ... having already wedged IA into my current savegame, would you happen to know which of my OTHER mods are going to have problems with it? Or is it all of them? Or, is it possible to get IA (or certain parts of it) OUT of the savegame without making a mess of things? IA seems t be designed so that you don't have to use all of its modules. (Though I'm not too clear baout how to get them out once they're in ... )
  9. Hi guys! I'm active in Skyrim gaming and modding, but I'm taking a while off to discover the Dragon Age world. I'm really enjoying my first run through DA:O, so, naturally, I want to mod it! I run the game on a pretty sweet rig: i5 2500k @ 4.5, 8g RAM, multiple SSDs, Radeon r9 290x, Dell u2711 at 2560 x 1440. I've installed the following mods/hacks: - 4GB patch - JB3 (base module + JB3Narmor and JB3Nenvironment) - Improved Atmosphere (I installed Beta 2 ENTIRELY - I figured I'd just accept that modder's vision and run with it.) - Combat Tweaks - Dialogue Tweaks - Character Respecialization (cause I messed up!) - Sleep until Dawn (cause it looked cute!) - The Icons Project (added after I noticed I was missing a few ... ) For such a small load of mods, I just downloaded manually to an extra folder and used DAUpdater.exe to install. Everything slid in just fine. However, even though I only have two of the extra JB3 modules installed (yeah, I read the readme!), I still get considerable instability when I try to use it - particularly (it seems) when I'm around mages. For example, I wasn't able to make it through the Mage Asunder level without a crash - until I backtracked, moved my JB3 folder and re-started the level. That's a pity, cause, really, JB3 is the only one of those mods I REALLY want. With a screen the size of mine, a little extra pretty sure is nice! So ... what would you guys recommend?
  10. Like Evil Twin in Apocalypse? Doesn't Evil Twin create a semi-transparent clone rather than one that is visually difficult to distinguish from the original? Seen from the standpoint of spells that can be given to enemies, that would makes a big difference for gameplay.
  11. Say - I'm way late on this, but I thought I'd throw out a conuration spell I'd love to see: Evil Clone The spell would make an identical-looking clone of the targeted enemy; the evil clone would be in a state of frenzied bezerkery and attack everone in sight for a short period of time. What I would particularly like about this spell would be to plug it into ASIS (or, hopefully, ASIS's successor) and get it in the hands of Skyrim's bad guys - like, all of a sudden there's be an EVIL Lydia right next to the merely annoying Lydia, and I wouldn't immediately know which is on my side ...
  12. Yeah ... I expect you're right. I mean, vanilla has various weapons you can conjure, but somehow, they don't really feel like proper conjuration magic. (And they're just not as interesting as "real" weapons ... ) But I do like the idea of conjured creatures that are relatively small and quick - or maybe that can kind of fly or skip around in a messy fight. Thing is, I think conjuration is probably the coolest form of magic in a fight - but outside of fights, I love having a couple followers/companions for the social interaction they add to the game. (Vilja's conversations with other followers and NPCs in general is a lot of what keeps me playing Skyrim.) (Not quite sure why I keep getting stuck with a dog, though. They just kind of turn up ... )
  13. Welcome! You want to learn how to use a program called Mod Organizer. It lets you set up various profiles, so that you can have multiple savegames, each with its own mod set. You can download it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/? You can learn more about it here (see in particular the "resources" section, which has links to tutorial videos): http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer
  14. Dude! I just kind of surfed over from a STEP mod page, and I LIKE what I see. Because I'm a SkyRe guy, I've considered the old version of this spell package time and again, then decided not to complicate matters further. So ... I don't have any good tips about the spells themselves. But just a couple very general thoughts: - Again: a SkyRe compatible package would be terrific - I'd slurp it up in a minute. - Also: I'd love to see the spells done in such a way that NPCs can get at them and use them effectively. By means of ASIS, if necessary. - Just a thought: I saw some pix of your planned conjuration stuff. Wow. Sweet. I love that stuff - it's definitely my favorite branch already. There's one issue I have with conjuration, however: I'm guessing that most people travel Skyrim these days with more than one companion - I mean, who doesn't use EFF/AFT/etc.? But if you already have, say, Vilja, Farkas and a dog - and then maybe Esbern or Serana along for the adventure - conjuration tends to end up creating too much of a crowd to be practical. I've found myself wondering now and again whether there could be some way of doing conjuration that is somehow more crowd friendly. Just a thought ...
