  1. You need DSFix for most of the mods. http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/19 Right now, only textures can be changed. To do this, you can enable texture override in the dsfix.ini, and put custom textures in the corresponding folder. If you do so, the texture will be changed ingame. So you can't create new items, only change the appearence of existing ones. I hope this helps a little bit. Make sure to read the readme of dsfix!
  2. Happy to help! Maybe you want to make your mod available to the public? ;) I am curious what you came up with.
  3. The unorthodox online mode is certainly a characteristic feature of the Souls Series. Changing it is bound to be controvercial. It makes the rare encounters with other players that more special and memorable. That said, today I tried about 20 times in a row to summon three different people, and every single time it failed. I could see their signs, but the connection simply couldn't be established. So I wouldn't be opposed to a bit more reliable online system. An existing mod that could be interesting to you is DS Spectate: http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/110/
  4. Sounds to me that you are saving your PNG without transparency? 1. If you are using Photoshop, use "Load selection" and choose the alpha layer. 2. Bring the selection to a new layer and delete the old one with the black background. 3. You now should have an texture with "holes" in it, where it is supposed to be transparent. 4. Save as PNG and it should work.
  5. I also suggested Demon's Souls themed mods a while ago. But the ingame HUD is one thing Dark Souls improved in my opinion. I think it's mostly the lighting, Dark Souls seems more vivid and colorful than its bleak predecessor. Perhaps I'll try that "Black Souls" Mod sometime... http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/77
  6. I also don't understand why you can't aim them. It's not possible right now, but I am against gameplay altering mods in Dark Souls, anyway. I like that as of right now the mods can only be purely cosmetic.
  7. What's wrong with simply wearing no helmet? Just like in reallife, if you want to look cool, don't wear a helmet; but don't complain if you hurt yourself ;)
  8. Making Textures for Dark Souls is easy: ============================= 1. Install DSFix (find it here in the Nexus) 2. Enable Texture Dumping and Texture overiding in the DSFix.ini 3. Play the Game. While you are playing, all the textures that are being loaded are dumped into the folder tex_dump as .tga files. So if you want to change a certain kind of armor, make sure to equip it, and then end the game. 4. Now you have to browse through your tex_dump folder and find the right textures. This is a bit tedious, but you should be able to find it. 5. Load the .tga in Photoshop or the program of your choice and do your thing. 6. Save your texture in .png format (not .tga!) into the tex_override folder. Make sure to not change the filename, only the format. 7. Your modified texture should now show up ingame instead of the original.
  9. This is a feature Durante added to make the HUD less intrusive (since you can see on the player model what weapon you carry). I rather like it his way. Look in the .ini-file, you can change the parameter for "minimal HUD" or something like that. Then the old layout should be restored.
  10. Well there is this Ring that lets you keep your souls, but it breaks after daeth — maybe someone can find the parameter that makes it break and change it? (I have no idea what I am talking about ;) )
  11. That would be nice, because the Black Knight Armor is so badass, but that ridiculous little nonmoving cape you have to stare at totally ruins it :P Thanks for your analysis...es(?). I take marking a mesh for being transparent takes up ressources of some kind, so you try to keep the areas as small as possible as a developer. Maybe I'll try to come up with a better cape instead... though I would prefer the armor to be completely capeless ^^ /edit: Heres my new cape! http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/125/
  12. Do you know why only part of the model (mesh?) stays white, and part of it becomes transparent with no problem? It seems so random to me.
  13. I would love to get back into freelancer! I didn't think there would still be a community for it? What is Freelancer Discovery? And a Freelancer Server? In my city?
  14. I just wanted to suggest to make more Mods that bring Dark Souls closer to it's predecessor Demon's Souls. Mainly in terms of the UI and HUD Graphics. Maybe Level Textures. In my opinion, Demon's Souls had a colder, more sober look to it in contrast to the more colorful imaginative environments found in Dark Souls. I would love to see mods making Lordran look more like Boletaria!
  15. I think this would defeat all purpose of the game... But if you feel you need more souls, quickly and easy, search for "Dark Souls Soul farming" on Youtube. There is a location in Darkroot Forest you can use to painlessly level up a bit.
  16. You could try switching out the textures, but I think the hollow form has a different model than the human one... It would be a pretty thin looking human ;)
  17. while testing around I realized; the transparency in my texture works fine, but there seems to be a mysterious white rectangle underneath the cape? Nevermind the texture, it's just for test - as you can see, the lower part of the cape "deletes" just fine, but in the upper half a white plane remains. Anyone know what's up with that? http://www.apload.de/images-i197844b2peuf.jpg
  18. I too have a problem with transparency. I want to "erase" the cape on the Black Knight Armor. The lower edge of the cape is worn out via Alpha Channel. When I delete the Alpha Channel, flatten the picture and "erase" holes into it, then save as PNG, It looks nice and transparent in Windows, but shows up plain White ingame. Can anyone explain again maybe?
