After some trial and error, I was able to install SSE and SKSE on a seperate drive and not in program files. I also was able to change the path for the mods to be on that same drive. This finally allowed me to launch SSE from Vortex, but it seems that none of the mod's that I installed are being added on. When I click on mods in Skyrim it wants me to sign into bethesda, so I can't see if it appears there. Any suggestions appreciated.
