  1. I'll be happy to do something useful. I'm getting a grasp on how the level editor works and am starting to feel confortable with it. I am well versed in C++ and the object orienteted paradigm and understand the Papyrus syntax. My 3D modelling skills are laughably bad, so I can't contribute much there and I'm not much of a writer. Though both problems I've tried to solve I've met the "native" functions controlling it.

     

    College is not too hard at the moment, but anything like tests, exams or assignments nearing their deadlines will be prioritized before this -- trust me, this ain't going to be a real problem anytime soon. I consider myself a quick learner and will try to help newbies whenever I can too. I have really long "weekends", as I don't need the programming lectures on monday and the Cisco lectures on thursdays are useless to me, I have to read the stuff anyways, so it's just a waste of time that coudl be spent sleeping.

     

    What means are used for communication? I prefer instant messaging over voice as I have no microphone and dislike talking over the internet. I prefer any programs with easy changing of fonts as i'm visually impaired, Steam is an example of a program failing at this.

  2. Well I agree it would have been nice if it was a group project here in the forums or via steam. I have people who ask me for help all the time and it would be nice to have someplace safe to direct them, where I know they are being shepherded into a good learning experience.

  3. I am absolutely in!

     

    -about 3 days experience grinding the forums for any and all info on all aspects of modding :P

     

    I will happily do menial tasks to gain knowledge and experience with modding :D Eventually I want to create an expansion-size mod. Working from the ground up at the moment... Slowly learning 3ds/nifskope...etc.

     

    Disclaimer: I, unfortunately, do not have internet at home right now (only dial-up thru my phone tether ^.^) so I may not be the quickest to respond but I will do my best!

    hi dear moderator and it is nice to have someone of such importance replying to this journey.

    if you would like to direct them to me then there will be no problem, this is what I can tell you.

     

    let me not speak for myself but later on there will be a few of the members that wanted to join commenting with testimonials on how this group benefit them.

    we are currently doing a hierarchy system by generations, first second etc, these are powered entitled to experience, more experienced members will have the benefit to teach and make use of less experienced members.

    and so on.

     

    So even though it is at some extent convenient to have the group made in here which is basically what we are doing, it is hard enough to communicate by posting, we need realtime communication hence AIM since to have work great for these couple of days.

     

    some people just hate steam like me....

  5. Why AIM, not Steam? Make a public group that anyone can join. If I'm not mistaken there's group voice-chat options.

     

    becuase this is not a public group, this is a private team with private projects, when those projects are done, we willingly share with others or post in the nexus.

  6. I would love to take part in this. Sadly, I don't have much as far as experience goes. In the past, I've created custom textures for GTA: San andreas, but they were only simple clothes textures. I've also dabbled a little in the CK, following the tutorial, so I know the very basics. I have both the CK and Photoshop CS4 currently. I'm not a huge fan of AIM, though, but I would really like to learn more about modding, as I've always had an interest in it.

     

    I am not a big fan of AIM either, but as far as I am concerned it doesn't require you to download the up, you can just log in online.

     

    to the other point, this team is for people with little experience, therefore someone like you. it is really up to you if you want to join the team. I am currently going to sleep, but hey if you change your mind about AIM or just simply want to be a part of the team let me know.

    I currently study games design in college. At the moment we are learning how to use photoshop, 3ds maya, 3ds mudbox etc. we also have done some programming.

  8. Change the ID of the items you wish to appear to something suitable creating your own specific objects.

     

    My guess is you dragged the items directly using original IDs

     

    Why do I need to change the IDs of the items?

     

    I agree there shouldn't be any relationship.

    make sure to run a havock test on the clutter you place, it should be listed there.

     

    for the info nav mesh is only for npc so they can walk

    try to evade conflicts by putting only in walkable areas

  9. Okay so i made my first creation kit mod(yay!) but it crashes my skyrim launcher(boo!).

     

    It's an NPC that I made. I copied Derkeethus(so they would be a follower and marriable), change the ID to like AALustyargonianmiad and added the NPC to the tavern in whiterun by dragging and droping here form the list of actors to the actual tavern, somewhere near the door. I kept the CK open just in case something was wrong, and started the launcher. It crashed so I closed the CK and tried again. Crashed.

     

    What is the problem? What did i do wrong?

     

    if two actors share the same script events, that will most likely create a conflict, try creating a new actor from someone that is generic, e.g. a bandit, then change the scripting on papyrus by copying the one from the actor you want copyed and the new one, remove any conflicting schemes.

  10. I am making a house as well finished the inside, I just have to add in a bandit or scavenger to it. Anyone know how to do that?

     

     

    very simple look in your left panel

    where it says actors. look for the name of the actor you want to add, drag and drop.

     

    make sure to add navmesh for bots to move, otherwise

    they will stand still like idiots.

     

    you can autogenerate nav meshes but I do not recommend that outdoors, only indoor

    @kennyimpala: Incidentally, can I just say...I eventually realised that the area where I was trying to place the house was in a navmeshed area. I take it you have to avoid any navmeshed areas when placing buildings of any sort?? (Sorry for any noob questions, but this is my first mod) So I don't know if that was the reason?? Now I've gone and deleted the navmeshed area thinking that would solve it, which has now brought me a heap load of even worse problems in that I can now no longer get the game to start...

     

    Anyway, further to what you say, I was trying to place my house within the actual Tamriel worldspace, in a wilderness cell. Area of land seemed suitable, i.e it seemed flat enough etc. I don't think I really had any object inside the house which could be classed solely as exterior. I had some smithing stuff in there, but that's ok for indoors isn't it?

     

    edit: and sorry, that last post of mine with no text was posted by mistake :rolleyes:

     

    yes just make sure that if you are doing interiors (ex inside of house) you do it in the interiors section or your load will fail

    the outside of the house can be done in tamriel.

     

    nobody is an expert so no worries.

    Minimal Modding experience and wanting to learn - have over 25 years gaming experience tho ;) and 250 hours of Skyrim play under me belt hehe.

  15. <br>I've created a house, everything seems ok within the interior cell, I've gone through the available tutorial videos & notes countless times and now I just cannot get my house to show up in the game (i.e. when viewing it from the external cell within the Tamriel worldspace after teleporting to the external side of the front door all I can see is the door I placed in the external cell...the house doesn't show up.)<br> <br>I can teleport between the inside and the outside of the house without any problem.<br> <br>Any help would be appreciated.<br>
    <br><br>while trying to figure out this same problem with another member I came to the conclusion that interior objects need to be placed in a interior, exterior objects in an exterior.<br><br>make sure the house you have created is coadjacent with the ground if it is an exterior, if it is an interior in other words you shouldn't experience this problem.<br><br>you can't place a house in for example AAAtest world space, as it does not correspond to the (skyrim world map), therefore the only way to create your house is to create it in the skyrim world map, otherwise if it is an interior, then you must create it in an interior cell.

    as I see you are a great person, I will reply kindly, but I must remind you that this topic has nothing to do with my ongoing projects, that is apart, this team is for doing projects together, not for working on my projects. to be in other words a learning experience for others and myself, to have people to have eachother's back if one doesn't know something, there will always be one who has more experience in the matter. shortening the time it takes investigating and facilitating the creation of new useful mods.

     

    the mod changes values such as speed of werewolf, and gives more use to the howls.

    on of my little contributions to the mod was to make a summon able werewolf race (non replacer), which is not something from the other world.

    I was working with a friend in a werewolf mod for skyrim, but currently thats is being developed only by me and him, we do not require any assistance on that.

    Hi all, this is an invitation to people with little experience using the ck or no experience using the ck to learn the mechanics and basics of it.

    this is also an invitation for people that want to create retextures or textures out of raw and have no Idea how to do it.

    this is also an invitation to experienced modders who know how to import nifs into models and require team's assistance for textures, or integration in the ck.

     

    my experience is as follow:

    -painshoppro/photoshop expert for more than 10 years

    -experienced with previous ck/modding tools from other games such as fallout, new vegas, and oblivion.

    -experienced creating 3d models out of raw for more than 2 years

    -very little experience importing nifs into skyrim (I can not yet figure it out)

     

    if you want to create some cool mods along with other people and need assistance learning here is a place to start

    if you do not want to join the team, this is not the place to start or join.

     

    this is what we will be doing on a regular day (if you have the time, as we are flexible)

    -you will be assigned to do basic things such as making a small change in skyrim with the ck, we will give you instructions and troubleshoot you.

    -you will be assigned to retexture a texture of your choice and integrate it to skyrim

    -you will be assigned to get acquainted with different tools to import export skyrim files such as BSA handling ESP, NIF, and DDS

    -you will be assigned to learn how to create textures using either photoshop or painshoppro (any version)

    -you will be assigned to learn how to utilize complex software such as 3ds max or blender to create models

    -you will be assigned to learn how to import export nifs in skyrim

    -you will be assigned to learn how to integrate your mods into skyrim

     

     

    this team will go at its own pace at its own manner and time, if you have little time like me (that can only provide to help and build a team) you are also in the right place, we will be doing simple tasks to get you acquainted on how to mod for skyrim (and why not this will also serve for oblivion, new vegas, fallout and any upcoming bethetsa games)

     

    your duty is the following, or should I say the price for being in this team?

    -no ditching, once you are in, you are responsible for staying in the team, you are also responsible for putting the team's projects under strict priority over your own projects, you are more than welcome to work on your projects, but this shouldn't take all your attention. united we are better than scattered, if we work together we can accomplish things faster.

     

    what I will personally do for you: I will help you, and I will help you a lot, if you knew nothing, now you will know a lot

    what I will require from you: come up with ideas, if many members of the team believe the idea is solid and possible for our expectations I will make sure that it gets developed, begin with simple things, those will usually get achieved faster, we are not about quality, but we a re not about quantity either, we are about both.

    other goodies are that in this website you will find plenty of tutorials, the higher rank you are the more access to these tutorials you will have and the chance to post your own tutorials.

  19. hah, thought i'm the only one that have this problem, especially after seeing many wips image in nexus image share that many succeded to alter/create new armors/clothings, not that i'm happy tho coz i have someone has the same problem too.

     

    anyway i try to trace back where i did wrong. unninstalled/reinstalled still got the same thing, and for the information, already using Blender 2.49b (WinXP SP2) since fallout new vegas which i got it from here provide by LHammond and worked perfectly for reworking/creating models for FNV back in the day..

     

    than find Xunamarox tutorial for rigging skyrim meshes, so i installed everything that was required, also i install everything according blender readme from LHammond 2.49b package.

     

    start tweaking the nif file as XunAmarox tutorial instruction, import it into blender, and worked (thanks XunAmarox), than i made my tweak (mostly just shaping/removing armor parts, sometime also add some small parts), delete old skeleton that start importing the new skeleton (change the users version as well)...Phyton Error ! what a bad ending...

     

    so anyone please enlight me, is there something that missed here..

  20. Just wondering if someone can test this for me, I'm thinking of getting the patch (still on 1.1) but only if it fixes a rather annoying glitch.

     

    Everytime I use shadow warrior or invisibility, my eye textures get all glitched and I have to restart the game. I'm using an ATI Radeon HD 6870 1GB PCI-E

     

    no need to restart the game, you can simple press showracemenu.
