  1. Specifically, I want Dragonrend and Unrelenting Force. But, if I go back and do the quests in the future, will they still work? Or will I need to mess around with more console commands?
  2. Hello All, Problem 1 - Screen Tearing (due to high FPS) Problem 2 - Water Flickering (cause: unknown) Problem 3 - Shadow Flickering (cause: unknown) There are 4 common V-Sync Options: 1) Video Card V-Sync (multiple types) 2) Skyrim Engine V-Sync 3) ENB V-Sync 4) Custom V-Sync Mod "Skyrim Stutter Fix" Which one (or combination) has yielded you the best overall results?
  3. It's been a year, any word on this? ............ nice community.
  4. Could somebody please create a mod to simply display the level of a dungeon or enemy, before actually engaging them? I'm tired of going through a 1-hour dungeon at lvl 10, to meet a lvl 50 boss at the end. Or fighting a falmer that I thought was lvl 1, who is actually lvl 20. Every other video game has this... why can't Skyrim?
  5. Anybody know if such a mod exists? I'm tired of going through a 1-hour dungeon at lvl 10, to meet a lvl 50 boss at the end. Or confidently approaching a falmer that I thought was lvl 1, who is actually lvl 20 and manages to kill me. Every other video game has this... why can't Skyrim?
  6. Hi All, I see there are 3 major sound mods popular right now: 1) Sound Propagation Overhaul 2) Climates of Tamriel (sound) 3) Sounds of Skyrim (3 sections) If you have tried all 3, please share your knowledge. Which ones are the best in the following qualities: - stability - size - quality Which would you recommend to use? -Thanks so Much, this is a hard one to test on your own, without investing much time.
  7. I don't think so, not with Deadly Combat, the mod author enabled the enemies to perform anti-stun-lock abilities. Also, on top of that, playing on masters will give enemies so much life that you will never have enough stamina to spam powerbash the whole fight, you'll have to improvise and do some 'dancing' to regen your stamina; if you don't, your blocks will be weaker, and you'll get slammed pretty quickly. Yes, the perk with 50% magic resist on shields will help later on, but I don't think Ward is just for mages, it has helped me kill casters by totally neglecting their magic attacks, and then following up with weapon attacks. (especially good while you're approaching them from a distance) Yeah, that may have balanced the game for me a little bit during my first play through, but won't need it with my new character, since he doesn't use sneak; thanks.
  8. Thanks for the reply. I did not enchant anything or use smithing at all during my first play-through with Archery. I did however, put points into sneak, so I could pick and choose my fights, as well as do triple damage on my first attack. I attacked enemies from a far, and kite them well. And as for everything else I wrote in my initial post, I've found out what I was doing wrong the whole time. Shield bashes will interrupt any continuous/charging spells, including Dragon Breath (so stupid for not realizing this sooner). So, if I perfect my timing, I should be able to beat the game the way I want. I'm sure it will still be extremely difficult, especially with Deadly Combat, but it will be 100% doable.
  9. Hi, I need some tips and hints on how a 1-Handed Shielder can beat the game on Master difficulty. (without using exploits) Here is my situation. When the game was released, I played an archer and beat the game on masters too easily. My tactics during that time were to simply kite against melee, shoot & side-step against ranged, and stay behind rocks & shoot against dragons... lame. ------------------------------------------------ Now, an year later, the modding community has revamped my interest in the game, and after 2 weeks of reading, planning, and testing, I've carefully hand-picked and installed a set of mods, and am ready to embark on a truly high-quality gaming experience. However, (this is actually a good thing), the game has become too difficult. I wanted to create this thread to see if my tactics can be improved. Firstly, my 2 major game-play mods are as follows: - Deadly Combat (stamina management, very smart enemy AI, better blocking system, timed-blocks, etc) - Deadly Dragons (dragons have slightly better stats, and slightly more abilities) My tactics are as follows: (I use equip set hot-keys, and avoid breaking immersion by opening menus, or drinking potions) Shield & Weapon Setup (Main) - used against non-casters - carefully time my power attacks, or else they will dodge (mod feature) - usually try opening with a timed-block + follow up - shield bash ONLY IF I am too low on stam to time-block, and I am too close to back-peddle in time; I must be fast before they get a full swing going - if enemies decide to turtle, I try to distance myself and either switch to my heal spell or finish them off with my Sparks spell (however, this is hard, because the enemies will sometimes charge you full-force the second they see your weapon go bye-bye 8) Ward Spell & Weapon Setup (Secondary) - I use this against casters & dragons - I cast ward when they cast spells at me, then go in for some hits, back off, and repeat (have to do this perfectly for about 10 minutes, and if I mess up just ONE TIME, I'm gonna get slammed hard :ohdear: - when I run out of mana for spell ward, I have to do some dancing until I regenerate, and avoid being hit in the process - Deadly Combat mod adds "Timed-Ward" which reflects the spell back in the direction of my cursor; but so far, it has been very difficult to perform, and I don't think it works against continuous spells (could anyone confirm this?) ---------------------------------------- Here is my main problem: Dragons are too powerful. They cast their Fire Breath NONSTOP, and even if I play perfectly, and negate their damage with my Spell Ward, they keep casting and casting until I run out of mana, and then it's time for them to tear me a new anus. Here are some tactical options I've developed, let me know your thoughts on them: 1) This is my preferred strategy, but, by God, it's difficult to perform. When the dragon lands, I approach them with my spell ward until I'm up close and personal, and them I quickly switch to my Shield + Wep. They tend to do more physical attacks when your close to them, allowing me to perform timed-blocks & followups. But every once in a while, they will cast their Fire Breath even when your up-close, which screws me, because my shield hardly negates any of the damage, and I end up being 1-shotted. I have tried to switch back to my ward when I get the sense that they will do this, but there isn't enough time. Any idea if shield bashing might interrupt their breath? (I have not tried this yet) 2) Position myself in a rocky/wooded area, and use my surroundings as my tools. I will have to use just my Spell Ward & Wep, and simply Ward off their spells, hit them 1-2 times, back off, repeat, and them hide behind a rock/tree until my mana regens (since I can't dance around their Fire Breath). But this is a little lame (better than my Archer experience, but still lame). -------------------------------------------------------- If you guys could give me some tips.. perhaps I'm ignoring a certain spell that would help me out, etc. I would appreciate it. Also, does anybody know the EXACT delay-time of casting Spell Ward? It seems that the animation and the actual spell are off by a second. I have 60 fps, and there have been many times that I time my ward so the animation is completed right before a spell hits me, and then I get hit by it anyway. If I time it about a second before, then it works fine. I guess I just answered my own question :hurr: Also, one last thing. If anyone has used the TK Dodge mod, with a 1-Handed Shielder, please let me know what your game experience was like. I'm hesitant with this mod for 2 reasons: It might end up being over-powered and too easy once I get used to it. And it adds more variables to my character, which I currently can't manage, since I already have my hands full, trying to switch between equipment sets, timing my attacks & blocks perfectly, managing my stamina, etc. Thanks, -Lite
  10. Hello, I want to use hotkeys to swap between Shield+Sword to Shield+Spell (in other words, bind spells to my *RIGHT* hand). I first tried the SkyUI mod, but it doesn't have a Favorites section added yet. I then tried to add the Categorized Favorites Menu mod, but the author seems to have abandoned it, and the equip-sets + left/right hand options don't seem to work. I'm now looking at the Extra Hotkeys mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3865), but I see a lot of comments complaining about Script Dragon not being updated, and the mod itself not being updated, so I'm hesitant to try it (plus, I'm not a huge fan of Script Dragon). Does anyone know a trust-worthy mod (or method) that can allow me to equip spells into my RIGHT hand via hotkeys?
  11. Thanks guys, your comments are helpful! - got a couple of questions Shadowjin, this is mostly geared to you: I get your point about using the phrase "Using Mods" vs "Modding" - made me laugh.. I actually knew this, but was just lazy : p Now, in regards to script extenders, it sounds like your saying that SKSE is the most powerful, but some mods prefer to be run on Script Dragon - - - Can I run both at once? Do these extenders draw memory usage (aka: slow my fps)? Could you please do a run-down of the major differences between NMM / BOSS / Wrye Bash? Can they be used together, or must I choose only one? You're saying that BOSS & Wrye order mods in a more efficient manner, and NMM does not? (thus reducing errors and lag?) Do they do anything else aside from just ordering? (perhaps combining internal game files together, etc?) I really don't feel like using NMM just for the sake of experience, and then switching over to one of the other two (if they are truly better) - I would rather just skip right to the best one and learn how to use it off the bat.. know what I mean?
  12. Hi, I would like to begin adding mods to the game. I have an idea of which mods I want, but have never used mods before. At first, I thought modding was as easy as installing the Nexus Mod Manager, and adding mods directly to it. But now, I notice that a lot of the mods I want require script extenders, modifications to the game files, and so on. So I ask you, before I download a single mod: 1) What programs should I install to create a strong foundation for future mods? 2) What are script extenders? 3) What mistakes have you made when you began modding, and how can they be prevented? -Thanks
  13. Hey guys, I'm a casual modder, and even though I told myself not to download any naked mods, my resistance is starting to dwindle. I spent about 2 hours last night trying to figure out how these female re-texturing mods work with each other, and it's simply too much.. the thing I hate the most is that every single description uses acronyms.. which refer to other mods.. which use other acronyms... it's like their speaking another language. Anyway, before I give up, I thought to try here. Is there any naked mod that does not over-haul and change the vanilla body, but simply modifies the underwear sections? Also, while I'm here, which mod would you consider the best if I wanted to smoothen out the vanilla female faces, but, again, not change them, like so many mods do? Would I be better off going with the Bethesda HD Textue Pack (I heard a lot of people claiming problems with it though), or should I go with "No More Blocky Faces", but I heard it's obsolete... to what? And one last question: I'm falling in love with Mjoll, any one know how to get her naked? : p
  14. I'm new to modding, about to start my second run of this game. After being amazed by all the graphics mods, I realized that they won't improve the game so much... but combat will. Here is what I dream of: Dynamic Close-Quarters Combat I've seen a bunch of mods out there and can't decide which are better. Could anyone tell me which mod comes closest to what I am about to describe? - Over-Head attacks, blocks, parrys, and head-dodges - Right and Left attacks, blocks, parrys, and side-steps - Frontal fast-paced weapon jabs, blocks, parrys, and torso lunges - Shield bashes that can be countered - Smart enemy AI - Balance, both early and late game (challenging but still do-able) I don't think I will bother with magic or ranged weapons; it seems that close-quarters combat is the way to go if you want to really have challenging interactive fights, am I right? Anyone that has played around with these mods and different combat styles, please share what you have learned, and what you believe is the best COMBAT experience this game has to offer. -Thanks
  15. Hello, I am new to modding, and in my search for the best graphics mods, I've been seeing a lot of this effect: "Fading Backgrounds?" - - - in which the camera fades in and out of specific objects at random times...? Here are 2 screenshots of what I mean: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/images/166379 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/images/166464 Firstly, I would like to know what this effect is called? How does it work? From watching videos, I don't think I would like this effect, because I think it would get in the way of things that I am trying to look at, would you agree? What is your opinion on it, and how can I tell which mods implement it? -Thanks
