  1. this is a classic example of what happens when too many winers complain that the game isn't hard enough the developers make changes to "balance" what the majority consider "balanced". the trend it seems these days is to design a half asd made "rushed to market" game like a cookie cutter designed to piss off the average player catered more to xbox console playing teens with 5 second mind spans. rather then taking the time to make a good game simply for the sake of making a good game.. like it used to be. on a positive note: thanks to efforts in making the modpatcher at least the individual now has the ability to modify their game to each individuals taste/preferences... to a certain limited extent anyway.
  2. being this isn't the official xcom developers site it's kinda pointless to post bugs here but perhaps one can pass this one on or try to help work it out themselves. a bug I experience a lot depending on the angle of your camera for the map ..when deciding on a higher level moveto box placement for your troop..when suddenly your highlighted cursor box goes Ape Shi-T = a movable selection box appears/disappears ((with each an annoying sound)) and sporadicly repeats 50 times within 5 seconds + changing the box position in height by the two selectable levels every other half of a second. completely nerfing the user from making a move to where he wants the soldier to go. changing the view by pressing E "sometimes" helps.

Hi 1) you do not "need" steam to play online.. use Tunngle 2) using resource hogs like antivirus/firewalls software while playing games is a bad idea and result in bad fps & cpu pointless overloads. if you are scared of viruses or something scan your pc online using trend micro housecall once a week and don't fall victim to the whole antivirus company "scare tactic schemes" to sell their retail products to the masses, also "software firewalls" have many flaws & not as good as having a decent Hardware Router that doesn't require a memory resource on your box.
  4. yes this is THE most annoying thing about this game! I spend more time moving the camera or watching annoying zoomed in cut scenes then actual playing. all these movies,cut scenes & sniper zooms were kinda neat to watch the first day.. now I'm to the point where I fall asleep sometimes while waiting to play. Mod Request: Camera Tag switches On/Off for: 1) Triggered Character Auto Zoom Events 2) Rad video movie scenes 3) Auto camera pan to player on select Optional Settings can be changed in the options settings menu.
  5. the chances of that 1 sniper making it to that rank and time/kills wasted on him makes the game harder/less fun/more do-over reloads/annoying zooms on yourself. NO.. here's why A useless pointless soldier that sucks up any resources is counter productive! rather then wasting time/money on him and taking up a (valuable) soldier mission slot-gained experience replace him and spend that same time/money on a new assault/support class which means later on in game you will have Gained another 3 good psi soldier to create havoc with the psi soldiers are really good for helping other lower class troops gain easy kills = Another psi soldier :) so let's say the crappy sniper maybe he makes a few kills after shooting 50 times when in that same time frame you could have gained training 3 stronG psi troops! this is why Snipers Suck and only deserve the dismiss button though, that just means another rank squaddie will replace him after you hire more recruits.. great.. Another "useless sniper" *clicks dismiss* *hires another soldier*.. sonofa .. ANother "useless sniper" *clicks dismiss* *hires another soldier*.. %!@#... and so on. so far that sounds like the best answer + a very clever mod tweak would you care to share a code example of how you managed todo that?

Hey everyone.. been playing a week or so ..like it's a full time job, I have decided to start over 5 times now and I have come to the final conclusion that snipers just suck they always miss 98% of the time, which doesn't make them snipers at all ..more like a useless expense. and so my Question is simple: Is there any way to completely disable the percentage chance that rookie troops upgrade to squadie class snipers? I would really prefer not to use them period. their guns look over scaled & cartoon ish + thay cant hit the broad side of a barn, and I would rather have hardened psi support/assault class troops anyway. any help how to edit the syntax in the DefaultGameCore.mod script would be appreciated.
  7. in xcom ufo defence you had the ability to make up to 5 bases i seem to recall, as for the purpose or benefits of having more then one base are many.. 1) as you generate more income you can expand bases not "just satellites" 2) this enables you to research faster by researching different things in different bases at the same time. 3) as more ufo's activity's show up later in game you can multi task -counter attack/defend every ufo (rarely letting any ufo get away) sending more interceptors/ skyrangers = more income = faster development & research=better weapons = more fun. the way the game is designed now you purposely don't make much money at all or have the research/resources/funding available fast enough to put up satellites fast enough to balance out the funding countries from over panic levels that end up dropping out before you have a fair chance to react in time. and when they all abduct in 3's at the exact same time your limited to choosing only one = the rest of the country's that you were unable to help slowly raise panic levels so it's a setup for failure and the domino effect kicks in. if you had a base close by you can react & go after every craft & abduct site ..every time. = more money + happy country's

Hey Guys, Big XCom Fan here.. been playing Xcom since X Com Ufo Defense (1994) (Microprose Software Inc) on the Playstation 1 I am glad to see that even with this new released version of the game it has already started to attract Hobby Moders from all over & so my wish is that some talented moders decide to work together as a TEAM to develope something Amazing for this Awsome game that has so much great potential ...Rather then seeing several single mod developers working alone very slowly making something halfway decent that the individual moder considers in his opinion balanced. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Things I would really like to see happen similar in this new release with older releases _______________________________________________________________________________________ 1) A new updated version or similar to Bman's Ease of Use Mod "originally" made for version Xcom-ET-Gold detailed features of the mod can be found here as a reference: http://www.ufo-scene.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?6277 2) The Ability to construct More Bases similar to X-Com-UFO Defence! make this happen guys that is all .. carry on
