No, I don't want tutorials and stuff I can look up on Google. What I want is to be able to discuss a WIP integrated realistic economy / item weight overhaul mod, balanced for use with things like Morrowloot and Scarcity. Run numbers past people, get opinions, maybe source price/weight/historical data I haven't been able to find myself. I've got as far as retooling all the vanilla armor/clothing/jewelry (minus maybe two dozen unique items), compatible with the unofficial patch, and putting together some equations to get ballpark price/weight estimates for large swathes of it so updates, tweaks and additions will be easy(er) to implement. What I'm getting out is broadly matching up to real weights and prices for 1300AD+ that I've been able to find, using steel plate as a sort of baseline. Before I charge ahead with the rest of the items I'd like to get opinions on the figures I have. This is a brief sample, not a complete list. (Weights in lb, prices in pennys (d). For affordability estimates, 1 days wage for a laborer assumed to be 2d, a fine horse assumed to be 10L (2400d) - these are very rough) Armors Fur Weight est 7-8 Price Est 30 (1/2 month's wage) Hide / Imperial Light Weight est 7-8 Price Est 32 (1/2 month's wage) Leather Weight est 7-8 Price Est 44 (2/3 month's wage) Chitin Weight est 10-11 Price Est 78 (just over 1 month's wage) Falmer Weight est 17-21 Price Est 166 (nearly 3 month's wages) Iron Weight est 27-35 Price Est 802 (a year's wages) Elven Weight est 7.3 Price Est 874 (15 month's wages) Imperial Weight est 22 Price Est 1286 (nearly 2 year's wages) Steel Weight est 27-36 Price Est 1729 (over 2 year's wages) Bonemold Weight est 18 Price Est 2071 (nearly 3 year's wages) Glass Weight est 7.2 Price Est 4621 (6 1/2 year's wages) Orcish Weight est 36 Price Est 5997 (8 year's wages, or 2 fine horses) Nordic Carved Weight est 27-36 Price Est 24000 (33 year's wages, 10 fine horses) Stalhrim (light) Weight est 8.5 Price Est 41500 (more than a lifetime's wages, 20 fine horses) Dwarven Weight est 63 Price Est 87000 (more than a lifetime's wages, 36 fine horses) Ebony Weight est 115 Price Est 580000 (more than a lifetime's wages, 250 fine horses) Jewelry Silver Necklace Weight est 0.07 Price Est 20 (half a month's wages) Gold Necklace Weight est 0.15 Price Est 240 (half a year's wages) Silver Ring Weight est 0.1 Price Est 26 (half a month's wages) Gold Ring Weight est 0.19 Price Est 320 (half a year's wages) Clothes are extremely variable in price by quality, but weigh 3-6 pounds. You can get a simple outfit for about shilling (12d), or 6d if you're poor. Boots/shoes cost similar. A reasonably fine robe might cost 1L. At the other end of the scale, fashionable noble clothes come out at 50L. The variability and price range of clothing is currently limited however as I@m dealing with vanilla assets only. The core of these price/weight estimates lies in the materials - density and value per pound. Iron, leather and wood(timber) have been sourced. Gold and silver aren't fully sourced but based on derivation and educated guess. Everything else needs sourcing and/or work. And of course there are various fantasy materials at work (including "glass"/"malachite", "ebony" and "moonstone" - I work on the assumption these have nothing to do with their real-world namesakes. Depending on how seriously you take smithing recipies, Tamriel "steel" may also be included in this...)
