I'll get my system specs out of the way: Windows 7 64bit 8GB RAM GTX 680 (2GB) i7 3820 Playing the game with no mods whatsoever is almost unplayable because of the amount of stuttering. Once I use the 4GB enabler in conjunction with the stutter remover and windowed mode, it gets a lot more playable, but there's still a fair amount of stuttering/hitching. Keep in mind that I just played through Fallout 3 and didn't have near as many issues as I'm having with New Vegas. I'm playing at highest settings and my framerate never seems to drop below 55. I guess I'm kind of rambling here, so I'll get to the point... why am I getting these issues with the system I have? Is the game itself really that crappy or does it does it not agree with newer graphics cards? I'm at a loss.

I just did a clean install of Steam and Skyrim, and in my steamapps/common/Skyrim folder there is another Skyrim folder with a SkyrimPrefs.ini inside of it. I don't ever remember seeing this before... what's going on here?

How can I get this to work? It's weird, because I'm using a controller and my comp still recognizes the x key when I want to toggle the compass with iHud, but I can't get any key to take a screenshot from changing the settings in Steam.

I've tried pretty much everything since getting a new rig a few days ago and I've gone with Climates plus Enhanced Lights and FX. RCRN and Realistic Lighting change too much imo.

Rain drop sounds, thunder, lightning, dark clouds, and because I'm running Wet and Cold NPCs are equipping rain hoods and the PC has the water drip in 3rd person. No rain drops are falling from the sky, however. :P Has anyone ever run into something like this?

I was shocked more than anything else. I can't remember getting a BSOD on any computer in many years. I just hope it doesn't happen again. :P

Turns out there were a couple mods where I had two .esps active when I only should have had one. That with a little housekeeping seems to have fixed everything for me at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

Definitely running as admin. 5 files failed to validate and will be reacquired... hmm. Will try now. edit: now I'm getting a "This save may rely on content that no longer exists" message... what the hell? I haven't uninstalled anything.

Got a new rig and everything set up and played for about an hour and half with zero problems. Got to the gate in Whiterun, saved, then tried to enter. That's when I got a blue screen of death. After restarting I've tried to load the game and all I get is an infinite loading screen. It's not frozen, because different messages continue to flash in the bottom right. Any idea what's going on here?

Don't want to use a big follower overhaul like AFT or UFO, but is there a mod that simply makes followers keep wearing/using the good equipment you give them instead of reverting back to their default items?

Getting a new rig soon, and I've been wondering about this. If I'm going to install a combo of Skyrim HD, Realistic Overhaul, SMIM, etc. etc., is there any legit reason to download the Bethesda hi-res pack?

Does anyone else find it weird that the PC has to ask questions like "Who is Boethiah?" or "Who is Malacath?" etc. Maybe it's fine if you're role-playing a certain type of character, but I would think most residents of Tamriel have a basic knowledge of most daedric princes. Anyway, I was wondering if it's possible to change the "Who is [prince]?" questions into something like "Tell me more about [prince]." Obviously not a huge deal, but it would help immersion a tad. Quests that would need the change in dialogue: Azura Boethiah Hircine Vaermina Nocturnal (Trinity Restored) There is a "Who is Malacath?" dialogue as well, but it's something you get with all orc wise women, not tied to Malacath's quest.
