CTD when entering building, new cell, etc
Skinjack replied to Skinjack's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Hmmm. Possible moron move? I just happened to look at a mod patch I was using to eslify AddItemMenu. It is dated 27January2019. Before SKSE was updated in August. Its possible using that eslified patch, which is outdated, is what is making AddItemMenu not work properly. I'm going to have to try installing just the regular mod and not the patch to see what happens. At some point. I'm onto other stuff ATM. But I'm going to feel really stupid if that was it. I guess I'm going to have to watch dates more closely in the future. I usually catch new mods as they are released, but this one I just added recently. Something else to watch for, I guess. EDIT: Nope. It's UIExtensions. I should really learn to read the posts. This time I skipped it and it cost me. I just figured a mod with so many dependant mods would have been updated by now. Oh well, I've lived this long without AddItemMenu. Its not going to kill me. I'd switch to an older SKSE as someone mentioned, but it sounds like that is hit or miss too. On the bright side, it opens up a load slot. -

As mentioned above it may be SKSE and I need to redownload it. I downloaded SKSE for this new machine last week. I'm not sure when they updated. There was a definite load/no load game scenario going on with UIExtensions and AddItemMenu enabled. I read it didn't work with SKSE 2.0.19 in its posts and that gave me a clue it was possibly the issue. I removed it when my freshly saved game wouldn't load and it worked. I haven't checked it this morning yet, but that is next. It may be an older post. As for too many mods I know it looks like a lot more than the limit, but a LOT of them are espfe/esl. I am currently running 227 esps but there are 427 that are light mods. I really wish someone could figure out how to actually label them differently (ie espfe instead of esp) and still have them maintain load order. They have confused me more than once when merging, that is why I am in the process of making a list of all the light mods I am running for handy reference. And yes, the MERGE_xxx mods are personal merges. I broke a few back up and went with simple graphics mods and of course my weapons and armors. I'm running considerably less on those. I was doubtful on the quests merge anyway. I've never had any luck merging those mods (House of Horrors, Namira and Boethiah for Good Guys) so no reason to think I had done it this time. It was the only one that was new and I hadn't run on my old computer anyway. The sj_xxx are all personal weapons mods. Simple texture/mesh/esps that I was able to eslify in their single weapons form (I had one that merged them all when I was closer to my limit, ie 253 mods). And yeah, massive load order. My problem is when I finally settle on my list someone else comes out with something shiny. Its the magpie in me, but really its mostly the modders' fault. EDIT: Well, so far so good. I'm not inclined to play with it anymore right now while it is working. I'll look into when the last release of SKSE was, but I'm not going to put AddItemMenu back in until I do. I've got other stuff to sort out on this new computer, ie transfer other drives, etc. But I hope this helps anyone else having the same issues. Leave out NPC's Run and Walk if starting a new game, and make sure your SKSE is up to date for UIExtensions and AddItemMenu. If you can't move at the beginning or you can't reload after you save, those are the two most likely culprits if you have them in your load order. At least for me. Oh, yeah. My VM was freezing, but it was crashing before thawing. Or it would fail in writing to the stack. Whatever that means. All I know is it would crash. -

I'm actually back to square one on this. Originally I thought it was less Intrusive HUD, but I had removed that and added back a few other mods this morning. Now it appears one of those mods may be causing the issue. Might be a camera mod or my persaonal merges. I guess just because they worked on my older machine doesn't mean they will like this one. I've got them diasable and am starting to check them methodically. Getting tired of that Helgen Restart. Yes, I know there are options. I just don't really care for them or have had too many issues with them. I'm allergic to change. EDIT: So I narrowed my issues down to a few mods. NPC's Run and Walk was the opening scene culprit where I couldn't get my character to move, which makes sense and the author does warn about using mods at the opening scene. I just forgot that this one in particular can cause problems there. It may have been the issue with exiting the cave as well (I can't be sure). I'm also not sure what was causing the door open/cell loading issue when you opened a new area, but it seems to be fixed as well. I have a new issue now that I thought was part of the other problems. When I save a game and then go back into it that game crashes. I thought that I had traced the issue to using the light version of MoreHUD, so I changed back to the regular version. Started a new game. Got through the cave. Got to Riverwood and past the blacksmith quest. Saved on the road to Whiterun. Closed to desktop then reopened the game. CTD. Any ideas? I got past the opening menu and selected the game I wanted to continue. It ran for a few minutes, and then crashed without opening. I'm at a loss here. I don't even have an updated papyrus.log I can look at as it didn't record one. Any help at all is appreciated. I keep getting two steps forward, and then a giant leap back. EDIT 2: So I uninstalled UI Extensions and AddItemMenu. Apparently if you have skse2.0.19 installed it can cause problems. Including not loading games properly, it seems. After removing them, the game continued where I left off. I'm not guaranteeing it will tomorrow, but its 10PM and I've been screwing with this since 10AM. I'm done for tonight. -

I seem to have gotten this going. At the end of my papyrus.log I had: [10/02/2020 - 06:29:48PM] ************************************************************************************************************************ [10/02/2020 - 06:29:48PM] WARNING: (Immersive HUD) Please ignore the following error (Cannot cast from None to SKI_WidgetBase[]) is seems to be a lie! I saw a post somewhere else that said anything prior to errors was your most likely issue, so I disabled it on a whim, ran Wrye Bash again, and started a new game. This time it seems to have gone all the way through and I can enter doors into inside cells, like the Riverwood Trader. I'm not saying it has solved all my problems, or even that the mod is the definitive cause of the issue (could just be coincidence) but I don't really need Immersive HUD anyway. It was a requirement for another mod I decided not to use and forgot to remove it as it didn't seem to be causing any issues. Anyway, we'll see what happens in the future. Thanks for your assistance though. Sometimes having someone else to grumble to actually kicks my brain into thinking mode. -

Already looked it up and decided to remove that for now. If no one else chimes up with a response I'll disable anything new I've added like Interesting NPC's and see if that works. Other than that, I don't know either. Start by disabling half and keep going until I track it down, I guess. Monotonous and no guarantee of it working. I may just have to start from the beginning again. After I removed Real Clouds I'm still getting issues, this time with stacks: [10/02/2020 - 06:30:02PM] VM is freezing... [10/02/2020 - 06:30:02PM] VM is frozen [10/02/2020 - 06:30:02PM] Saving game... This computer is considerably more powerful than my other one, it should be able to handle the load. Only thing I can think of is conflict, I just can't figure out where. -

Real Clouds is a personal port I use from LE. Don't know if it is needed anymore. It never gave me an issue since I've been using it, but I can deactivate it and see what happens. Really don't know how that would affect a new cell loading, but weirder things have happened. Especially if it is conflicting with something else. Sorry I didn't mention that. There are a few mods I ported from LE that haven't been released yet, like Acalypha. None of those have ever given me issues in the past but I guess this is a new game on a new computer. -

Anyone have any idea what this is? I'm not finding that script anywhere in my STEAM folder. I validated my files last night. Maybe I'll try that again JIC. -

Sorry about the wait. I had signed off early yesterday and had to take my daughter to get her wisdom teeth out this morning. She's sleeping now. Anyway, I wasn't sure what the general concensus was about sending which form of load list these days, so this is just a copy of my loadorder.txt. I would ignore the MERGE_ mods and the sj_ mods as they are personal mods for weapons or merges and they have been deactivated once before in the process of elimination to find the cause of this issue. However, it was still there, even with those mods disabled. The merges do work, I've used both them and the sj_ mods on the older machine. The weapons are simple mesh/texture mods with eslified esp. Any new mods I added were deactivated at one time as well, again with the exception being Interesting NPC's. I haven't disabled that yet. I also had NetScriptFramework installed at one time but I currently have it removed. Keep in mind this loadlist is by no means done, as I have just started fixing conflicts, etc, and the list will change accordingly. Especially if anyone can point out glaring issues that I may have missed. I guess this is what you get when you do a marathon stay-up-all-night-for-two-nights mod upload to your new computer. http://www.mediafire.com/file/de2ciapdj2miccz/loadorder.txt/file Thanks ahead of time to anyone who can point to what might be the source of my problem. EDIT: Just found a patch between 3DNPC and TK Children, so add that to my list. Seriously need a program that says "you need these patches" and list them. Its a good thing most of them are espfe's nowadays. -
I'm having an issue where I can't enter into any buildings, caves, new cells, etc. This just started while loading a new game onto a new computer. This initially worked when exiting Helgen through the cave exit for the first time, but I've had issues since entering Riverwood (after the blacksmith request to go to Whiterun) where it no longer works. I can't even go back into the Helgen Cave from a save game just turning around and going in. I've explored the Papyrus.log at the end and it looks like I'm having VM issues. Above that is a mass of errors related to mods I don't have, are not required, and I don't want. [10/01/2020 - 03:03:34PM] [bOS] Updating factions... [10/01/2020 - 03:04:07PM] Errors occurred while saving the Papyrus save game data I had this load list running before on an older machine (10 years) and never had an issue beyond the graphics card couldn't handle what I was throwing at it. I know the VM freezing like that indicates a pause in the game for saving, etc, and that it's not a good idea to use the Papyrus.log. I haven't until now. I was just looking for a hint which mod(s) was causing the problem. I also know this is generally caused by conflicting mods, but I have disabled any new mods I added to this load (except one - Interesting NPCs and a crapload of patches for it). That was working, at least I'm assuming that was why my NPC's had more to say. Wasn't there another way to tell which mod might be causing the issue? It's been so long since I've had to troubleshoot major issues I don't remember. I've run LOOT and my load order looks pretty much the same except it is now putting Nemesis PCEA last after my bashed patch, DynDOLOD, etc. Not sure if that is right or not. It always loaded before the bashed patch prior to this. How can I tell which mod is conflicting or what my problem is? I'm not very hands-on with SSEEdit. I'm going to try a new game and go through Helgen again, and then remove Interesting NPC's if I still have an issue after that. I just thought I would ask if anyone had an idea about what would cause this to crash when entering like that. I had tried to install this with MO2, but was having issues with Nahimic drivers on this computer (i.e.blank screens, etc) so I returned to VORTEX. I'm not sure if that is causing further issues, but I can't tell my wife I just spent 6k in parts only to have the PC not working for what I had intended. I like my parts and pieces. I don't believe I forgot anything when installing, like .ini changes, requirement mods, etc. I just have 600+ mods and I don't envy troubleshooting that. My PC is 19-1098XE cpu, 2080ti gpu, 128 ram, nvme m.2 drives. I'm running Windows 10 (upgraded - depending on your point of view - from Windows 7). Does anyone have any ideas? EDIT: Well, its not the game itself. I just restarted from Helgen and got all the way to the end of the cave. When entering Syrim it crashed. Removing 3DNPC is a little more involved with all the patching I've done, so I'm going to hold off on removing it for now until someone replies. Hopefully someone has a better answer than "mod conflict" because I dread going though that many mods.

SSE How to Move a building in Creation Kit
Skinjack replied to Skinjack's topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
Again, thank you. You are right. Not a clue about navmesh beyond thinking they "set" the area npc's could navigate in, ie buildings, etc. And even then that is probably wrong. So I very much appreciate the link. Now I have something else to learn after I get these MO2 videos (switching to it and it has been a looong time since I used MO1) and patching off my list. -
SSE How to Move a building in Creation Kit
Skinjack replied to Skinjack's topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
Thank you. I had intended it for my own use as I haven't seen the mod author active for a while so I'd probably have issues getting permissions. I may have to give moving the building a try. I'm not sure if it is navmeshed or not. -
SSE How to Move a building in Creation Kit
Skinjack posted a topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
As the title implies, I want to know how to move a building/merchant with the Creation Kit from an existing mod. I'm thinking specifically about Solitude Furniture as it conflicts with just about every mod I have in that area. I know people have spoken about moving it before to make it more compatible, but I don't know that anyone has done it. Is it a very involved process? Or can everything (building, activators, etc) be simply selected all at once and moved? I suppose if it were that simple someone would have done it by now. I have pretty limited knowledge of the Creation Kit. I am just exploring to see how difficult a task it would be. -
Thanks a lot for that. I have my game modded to the point adding DynDOLOD just kills it (CTD's stuttering, etc), so I guess its a good thing I can tell the wife I'm not throwing good money after bad. Although I don't think when I told her I needed a new computer to run "software" she was thinking "game". It's all in the presentation. :)
-
Thank you Algabar. I really appreciate the in-depth reply. It helps me to confirm beliefs I already had and sorts out some other beliefs that may not necessarily be true. Now that I have DynDOLOD installed I can't un-see how it improves the quality of the game, so I would always know in the back of my head there was something better out there if I disabled it. You know, grass is always greener... As for my rig being capable of running Skyrim with all the bells and whistles, are you talking the machine I'm currently on (780 gtx) or the new one (2080ti)? I believe the CPU on the 780 gtx machine is an Intel i7 970 @ 3.2 GHz. I don't know how to tell my wife I may not need the new computer after all the money I've spent if that is the case. :) Kidding. I needed to upgrade anyway. I can only convince my wife every decade or so of the need for a new computer, so I had to strike while she was in an agreeable mood. I may just have to reinstall a few of the programs that stopped working, although with the new computer on the horizon that is a moot point. I'm not going to really waste the time getting everything to work together on this machine when I'm going to completely rebuild and upgrade Skyrim to 1.5.97 with my mods on a new computer in a month. In the end, I'll probably stick with the 2K limit on textures (unless its a really neat armor or something that begs for 4K). But DynDOLOD is here to stay. As for the MCM menu issues, I'm just going to blame it on the CPU for now. My brain doesn't work as fast as it used to ten years ago, so I don't know why I would expect the computer's to be any different. Again, thank you for the reply.
-
I have avoided using DynDOLOD for... years, I guess... because my computer is a brick. However, I am updating to a new computer that includes an i9-10980XE CPU, Asus ROG STRIX X-299-E Gaming II mobo, 64 GB RAM (expandable to 256GB), NVME M.2 hard drives, and a 2080ti GPU, so I figured I would experiment on this PC before moving to my new machine after it is built. I have all the parts, I've just got to work around my nephew's schedule since he is going to help me build it. That, and I downloaded The Great City of Solitude, Solitude Skyway, Drengin's Blue Palace Terrace, and Enhanced Solitude, along with a number of compatibility patches to make everything work together. They look beautiful and I like seeing the Skyway, etc from a distance now. The nighttime lighting is really nice too, plus I like seeing the mountains in the distance (although every time I look towards them my computer has a mini heart attack and CTD's) :) But it got me thinking. My old computer is ten years old, 780GTX GPU, and a bunch of outdated parts that made it impossible to just upgrade the gpu and cpu. I ran into a few issues using it, like my MCM menus take forever to generate, even using the setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1 command. And by forever I mean over a half hour. In the meantime I can't use anything that hasn't appeared in the MCM yet, which is getting pretty long now. That didn't start until DynDOLOD was loaded. I guess what I want to ask is the following: Is there a recommended minimum computer specs requirement for DynDOLOD? I can disable it for this computer now that I've figured out installing it, but I want to make sure my new computer will not have issues with it. I run a LOT of texture mods, etc (up to 234 regular and 298 light according to Vortex right now). I also want to know if I should up the resolution to 2K or 4K on my mods with the new GPU. I've been told that resolution DOES make a difference in the visual display, even if I am only playing on 27" 1920 x 1080 screens (I tried talking the wife into new ones, but she set her foot down after I blew through 5K worth of parts). I originally thought that since the screens couldn't display it anyway why bother killing my already overtaxed system. Still not sure that advice is right. I have also read there is a problem with ALLGUD and CGO and possibly others. I personally haven't run into any issues before DynDOLOD was loaded, but I use these mods and need to know if that is true and if there is a compatibility patch for them. Since I installed DynDOLOD I don't get the multiple weapons on my back, but this could just be a "you're-system-can't-handle-this" thing. I do have them hot-keyed and they do still switch to show when pressed, they just don't show together. Sorry for the scattered questions and wall of text. I hope someone can give me answers on this.
-
I just found it myself today, so I'm far from done researching it. Just thought I would share in case it is what I think it is.
-
You might want to do more research on this: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-Accessories/HYPER-M-2-X16-GEN-4-CARD/ The way I read it, it's supposed to be a case you can plug into you're M.2 slot and expand it into 4 NVMe's inside its case. Haven't read too much into it, but I can always hope that's what it's saying. Not that I'll need it if I get the mobo I want, but it would be nice to know the capability to expand or upgrade is there. I think I have a pretty good idea of the components I want, my nephew will run through the list and correct any of my screw ups. Or his son will, since he is way into this stuff.
-
Doing the computer with my nephew is probably going to be another "a-ha" moment for me. I knew it, I still know it, but after the stroke I'm afraid to do it. Except for the motherboard. Never done one. Doesn't help that my balance is wonky now and I have problems with smaller things, thus the static wrist band I bought. Never needed one before, just kept myself grounded to the frame. I was surprised by the size of that motherboard's capabilities too. I thought they only went to 128GB. 256GB ram gives you a long way to expand and I like an oversized board I can add components to in the future if I need/want to. Already saw a M.2 adapter that can handle up to to four M.2 cards in one "case". Not that I need one, but the capability to expand is there. I get new machines only very rarely, so I need to keep an eye to the future. But I'd rather spend the money on a better motherboard right now and increase the ram or cpu/gpu later since it is basically the foundation of the build. And I'm the same way with my cases, but then again I can be distracted by anything "shiny". Should have named myself Magpie. Skinjack just sounded cooler. EDIT: Sent the list to my nephew. Now I'm waiting on the "Holy Crap" reply. Sent you a pm Indiao21.

Do you think the ASUS ROG Rampage Extreme is worth the extra money? I found an ASUS ROG Strix X299 with the same specs or similar except 1 less M.2 slot (3) for $250 less. I could buy a lot of case fans with that. They both go to 256GB RAM if I ever wanted to expand. I don't think its worth the extra money. Plus the Rampage seems hard to come by. Rampage - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZK7JTLL/ref=psdc_1048424_t2_B07YD7GHJ6 Strix - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YD7GHJ6/ref=psdc_1048424_t1_B07ZK7JTLL Thinking about just building my own. Forgot I have a nephew whose into building these things, and his son is too. That way I can pick the parts I want instead of relying on a third party's limited selection. Everyone just seems to be pushing water cooled these days, and I know I had that removed from this PC (stopped working) and went to air cooled and never looked back. I can actually buy the parts individually and come a lot closer to my wife's price. So, something to be said about happy wife...

I did a little research last night and you do appear to be correct on ASUS motherboards. They are better (don't want to start a whole MSI vs Gigabyte vs ASUS topic) than MSI and Gigabyte when it comes to the BIOS. I've watched several videos now where the maker just prefers it. As stated, the MSI BIOS is a nightmare. I'm actually running an ASUSTeK P6X58D Premium now on my computer. Bought it with that one in mind when I was dreaming I would play with overclocking, but never did because I read it could put unnecessary strain on your components. Back in my novice days. Since I get new computers so few and far in-between I didn't feel like accidentally frying this one. I could just see how that conversation would go with my wife. Probably end with "You're SOL until we can afford a new one - about five years from now." My problem with many pre-built machines is I don't know whether the box is well ventilated without just having it built myself by a custom maker like Digital Storm and hand-picking the parts. I guess a good place to start is 140mm fans with higher output and a dedicated fan/heatsink for the cpu like I have now. But an examle is the Corsair One. I watched a few videos on that last night and it did perform very well under loads for the CPU/GPU, but there were too many things he wanted to fix in other videos of the series. Ram, motherboard (it is MSI, he went ASUS), fan, etc. But he did overclock it considerably (I think it failed at 5.1) which he said is surprising for a mini-computer like that. He doesn't normally recommend overclocking minis. I think I will take my liquid cooled build with Digital Storm and scale it back to regular air cooled to see what it does for price. At least that way I will still have my expand-ability. And I'm slowly narrowing components down. Now I know I want to stick with an ASUS motherboard, so that takes away part of the equation. Just need to figure out which. And I've got RAM, CPU, GPU figured out. I think today I'll focus on fans and cpu heatsink/fan combos to see what I can find. Any suggestions on the heatsink? Right now I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 installed, but I put that in several years ago and don't know how it has stood the test of time. EDIT: Looks like I'll be looking at Noctua NH-D15 fan/heatsink. 140mm dual fans, 82cfm, 5 star, best fan for 2020. I saw some prettier ones (the CoolerMaster V8 has the same cfm, but not as high rating - but it is cool looking) but the Noctua is more practical. Plus it comes with a 6 year warranty. Looks like I may have to install afterwards though. Haven't found a PC maker yet that uses them where I could afford the build.

Ooooh, Traverse City Pies. Now I'm hungry. I'm beginning to think I should just go back to thinking about air cooled and not borrow trouble with water in an electronic system. Its what I know and has never let me down (except when my fan died). It doesn't complicate the system. Liquid cooled cpu/gpu would be nice on my dream list, but can I really justify the price if an air cooled system does the same or similar. Dammit. I think she's talking me down now. I did find a weird looking pc series in my travels, though. https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-000J-00018?Description=deepcool%20quadstellar&cm_re=deepcool_quadstellar-_-9SIAC3J91W0955-_-Product&quicklink=true Haven't seen any reviews on the design, and you would think if it was a great as they are saying it would have more. But again, I'm curious how something like that, which also isolates parts in different chambers, actually works for airflow. I think that's just the latest "Fad-thing" to get people convinced they need it. Back to basics. I've gone off on enough wild tangents.

I'm not looking to buy right now. The world has pretty much been put on hold and even the stuff ordered online has grown so much in volume the last week or two I'd be foolish to order it now and expect it to get here in one piece. Gives me time to look around, though. I know Digital Storm was knocking 500 of my price when I spec'ed it (down to 5100) but I still have a long way to go before I get the wife's approval on it. No biggie. I'm patient. I'm just reading stuff and familiarizing myself with what's out there now. So where are you from in MI? I'm just north of Flint in Mt. Morris. Moved here after my stroke to be next to her family so she wouldn't have to deal with it alone if something else happened to me. My family is in Rhode Island. Would have gone there, but my family is a soap opera and I don't like dramas. I was pleasantly surprised how much they got into the Corsair One Pro 200 when I was checking it out. I9-10940, 64GB RAM, GTX 2800ti videocard, liquid-cooled CPU and GPU, 3 NVMe slots. Really sucks I can't get past the one review saying the processor got hot, because I could envision something like that not taking up half my desktop area. And its limited expand-ability. I've got 6 harddrives connected to my computer, 1 external and 5 internal. I could get away with the external one, but I don't know how many of the others I could get in there. One, maybe two, probably. I really don't need the beast I've got now anymore since I no longer do IT or CAD for a living (I am kinda anal about backups, though) so I could probably get a smaller machine and use dual external for backup drives. Long story on that one. I lost a quarter's worth of work one time that the next quarter was building on, so I spent my entire time between quarters rebuilding what I had lost. Lesson learned. So much for my vacation. Actually, with the NVME slots I could have my OS on one, Steam and game/mods on another, and my programs on a third with everything else external. Hmmmm. I may have to look at those reviews again. Maybe it was a bad one or something. I actually downloaded a copy of Windows 10 to install on this computer, I just haven't done it yet. Scared of screwing up my mod order right now because I know I'll be that 1 in 1,000,000 that has a problem installing it and have to wipe my computer completely. I think the free update technically ended Jan 2019, but if you know where to look you can still find the MS update. They just don't advertise it anymore. I'm thinking of moving to MO2 anyway, since a lot of the tutorials these days I need are for MO2. I used to use MO1, so it's not going to be a big change for me. The only reason I switched to NMM and then Vortex was Tannin moved on to writing for Vortex and stopped supporting it.

I have a really nice fan that I bought for my processor cooling but even with a full size tower I had to push out the mesh on the side cover a bit or it would contact and rub. Its really close. I've been looking at smaller PC's that still pack a punch like the Corsair One Pro 200, but there is really no expand-ability at all and I believe it uses a mini-ATX board. Although from what I've been reading it does have room for 3 NVMe harddrives. And it is really small but still has everything I want. Could sit right on my desktop. Been reading about the liquid cooled cpu/gpu still getting hot, though. And its kinda pricey for limited expand-ability. For another 600 I could get that Digital Storm machine my wife said no to.

I was actually looking at an MSI computer that I could "settle" for, because it has a novel way they handle the cooling, ie separating the case into sections. Not sure about how it works (haven't done my research yet). Plus it mounts the graphics card on its side right next to the mesh intake on the side panel. Can't help but think that would help airflow, but I don't know what kind of extra room it has for a third party liquid cooling system. https://www.amazon.com/Infinite-Desktop-i9-9900KF-GeForce-Computer/dp/B084ZYFZJX/ref=pd_sbs_147_6/134-5254852-5266153?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B084ZYFZJX&pd_rd_r=d9d8ed67-5e4f-4a70-aadb-c3fba066adcf&pd_rd_w=FnS8j&pd_rd_wg=zgi0P&pf_rd_p=7cd8f929-4345-4bf2-a554-7d7588b3dd5f&pf_rd_r=W7ZAKDQES35SQXK6WPA4&psc=1&refRID=W7ZAKDQES35SQXK6WPA4 What are you're thoughts? My research drives my wife crazy. I can look at stuff for months before I commit. Took me months to narrow our new car down and even then I had to go with my gut because her car decided it didn't want to go forward anymore. Forced to pull the trigger on that one. All in all, its a nice car (Subaru Forester) and handles really well in the snow (I live in Michigan) but you have GOT to make sure you get an all wheel alignment every couple of years or it handles like crap in the snow. IE you're the slowest guy on the road because you're fishtailing everywhere. I haven't decided how much Ram I want to go with. My head tells me 32GB is enough, but my CAD experience says 64GB can't hurt. Plus, you know... shiny. :D This particular one I'm looking at has 64GB, and I suppose I could make due with that if I had to :whistling: , but it has a 32GB version for a little cheaper. I'm really only in the beginning phases of my search and I've got a lot of time on my hands these days, but I could still see me taking months to decide on something. Especially if I can squeeze extra life out of this one. I did plan on upgrading this one to Windows 10 and letting the wife use it. Its more than she needs and will probably use, but its nice to keep around as a backup for me in case anything goes wrong with my primary computer. I've just got this one set up for me and its kind in finicky so she doesn't like to touch it. Every time she does, something breaks. It would be funny if I didn't have to fix her screw-ups.

I've seen Jimmy around on other forums offering advice. Its always been good (in my opinion) so he's one of the few people I usually pay attention to when I read what they have to say. Zanderat, Arthmoor, HadToRegister, mathy79... a few others. Kind of the royalty of modding. We've just never crossed paths before beyond my reading his posts. I don't use high K textures. Mostly because of my graphics card, but also I run a 1920x1080 dual 27" monitor setup and I'm probably not going to get much benefit out of 4K+. I usually only download 2K if I don't have a smaller option.
