  1. That's pretty good from memory! I searched around and found someone that said he turned off the bhookcriticalsections so I set mine from what it was, '1', to '0'. That did the trick - sounds are back to normal. Hopefully that doesn't mess anything else up. But no crashes on exit since so that's a win!
  2. Well, I installed the updated OSR and it works! Problem is, now I have missing sound effects (battle clanging of swords, shields, etc.) and the game hangs when loading saves sometimes. Case of a fix causing more problems than it solves? Maybe I can turn off some OSR options in the .ini. Just not sure which ones.
  3. Oh! I thought I had the latest version. The readme says I only need to delete the older .dll file from the plugins folder before installing the new one so I should be ok. Funny thing: last night I exited and it did not crash at all. I hadn't changed any settings so I have no idea what went RIGHT. haha. Thanks, Contra! Hopefully the new version will work better for me.
  4. This is the text for the .ini file. Couldn't find "exit" anywhere. Am I going insane or do I have the wrong file somehow?
  5. I checked the .ini file but since I part-newb I wasn't able to figure out if it was enabled. What line is it, do you know?
  6. Yep, I use Wrye Bash. And I have OBSE installed - so WB is running OBSE, right? So that should be fine. I launch the game with the obse_loader.exe.
  7. Well now the crash on exit issue seems exactly like it was. Again, not a big deal but I wish it wouldn't do that. Is there anyway to tell if the OBSR plugins are installed correctly so I know they are working? I think I put them in the right folders but since the game still crashes on exit, I'm wondering if they aren't working.
  8. This is a must. Striker, everything you wrote should be in a readme file that comes with all mods. I've learned a ton here. And yeah, doing the manual (dinosaur) method has been helpful for me too. I did a few manual installs before I started using wrye bash. I started to get a better conceptual framework of how they work that way. But I was also a bit fraidy-scared that I would totally destroy the game. I made a backup of my oblivion data folder before installing any mods just to be safe. I also download my mods to a separate folder in another hard drive and use that to extract them to subfolders and check them out. Smart tips! Very helpful, forli. I wasn't aware of that at all. I thought you had to install first to find out the conflicts. WB is a lot more advanced than I knew.
  9. Nice. I did that and it appears to work. Only issue is there is still a crash error popup when exiting the game but its not as severe as previously. Not sure if installing fastexit2 will help. This isn't a huge issue since I can still exit but I sorta wish the game had no crash issues at all.
  10. OK, so basically the content of the zip file's data folder simply goes into the oblivion/data folder?
  11. New question, the directions for installing the stutter remover say to copy the Data folder from the zip file to your oblivion folder. Obviously this can't be correct as doing so would overwrite the Oblivion data folder. So I'm not sure exactly where those .dll files need to go..... I'm assuming Oblivion\Data\obse\plugins ?
  12. Awesome, thanks for the help. Definitely on my way to installing a bunch of those plugins.
  13. Since getting my mod order together, the only problem I've experienced is that it consistently crashes when exiting the game. I know this is a very common problem so I DLed the FastExit2 mod. But I was curious if there were any other solutions. Especially since I just recently had the game crash during the game, not when exiting, and I'm not sure why. It hasn't happened more than once but I'm worried it could become more frequent. Aside from the official and unofficial patches, are there any other crash fix mods or plugins that one should always use?
