I'm sure some of you hyper- / competitive gammers have already developed a muti-button mouse mapping optimized for Starfield. If you have, could you please consider posting that in a text file mod? I'm going to be using a Logitech G502 even though I'm left-handed and don't/can't really use my right hand for fine control motion activities like gamming.

The Option to Park in Space and Move About the Ship
gaoptimize replied to megadavesupreme's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
"Move about the ship." Anyone who hasn't seen Kubric's "2001: A Space OIdessy" should consider spending 5 minutes watching and listening to this. -
It would be great if there was a multi-media log that would could access from the HUD or termiinals that would allow the player character to: 1) Make text entries 2) Send screenshots to 3) Keep track of skill progress events and kills 4) Send gameplay videos to 5) Make voice audio recording to 6) text transcripts of interactions 7) Accounting of money spent and earned, and what/how (quickbooks for starfield) Each would be automatically tagged with key metadata (game date/time, location, current relevant mission, NPCs involved. The interface with the log would support filtering by metadata and media type(s). I imagine a config MCM that would allow the selection of disk folder for storage of all this. I also envision someday being able to "dump your log" to a server for others to research and AI NPC training using appropriate filters.

[SE]Dialog path recorder and playback
gaoptimize replied to gaoptimize's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Thank much for that. Perhaps the line on dialog to choose could be assigned by something like "Alt-1" through "Alt-0" although I'd need to remember which line is which number in the series. Then it would be just necessary to set the alpha for the dialog text to 0. Thanks for the line of thought. -
I play first person with no widgets or HUD writing to the screen at all, for immersion. I hot key a few weapon, spell, and item selections. What I can't get away from is the text on screen to choose dialog options. In the past, I've suggested that all HUD and text would be better placed on a second and perhaps smaller monitor, but apparently that is infeasible. So, as a fallback from the videos/movies I'd like to make, please consider the following: A key is pressed that 1)Causes a save. 2) Starts reording dialog selection choices (small data really suitable for a text file) 3) enables a key or toggles the start key to stop the recording and loads the save made at start. From that point on until the end of the text file is reached, dialog choices follow the pattern in the text. I have plans to make compelling, beautiful movies (thanks to an ENB now-artifact called Patrician ENB which no longer exists) and this mod/utility would assist greatly. I'd be will to pay $50 for this.

The game I'm coming over from, as soon as a few essential mods are added to this, has a variety of excellent makeup mods for female characters, NPCs, and followers. The lack thereof is a showstopper for me here. Over half the female NPCs and presets I've seen so far look ill. The kind of ill created by a lack of sunshine, vitamins, exercise, and too much artificial light exposure.

This bug comes and goes, depending on my load order, but I just started a new playthough and rather than the wagon just flipping over a few times and climbing a rock or building or two, it ran into a Thalmore at the gates of Helgen and by the sound of it, killed him! Talk about pre-karma. Anyway, I think this bug should be turned into a mod, where the dragonborn gets to select who the wagon runs over (except essential characters).

I suspect there may be a time coming where people aren't going to be playing Skyrim as much, either those engaged in Starfield (lucky) or those prevented from by personal economic issues (unlucky). I'd like a mod that one could set up with a real-date to skyrim-date multiplier that would allow one to establish routine activities (such as crafting, hunting, building (castles etc. and repairs to exiting ruins), artifact creation, pregnancies) that would take place during our absence.

There was a starvation body preset posted today, which made me think about the general conditions in Skyrim that might lead to this. So, here is a list of disasters that would make an interesting start to a challenging mod: 1) Drought, then extensive forest fire that even affects farming. 2) The volcano south of Windhelm erupts, darkening the skies for weeks, dumping ash, starting fires. 3) Tidal wave inundates and largely destroys Windhelm, Dawnstar, more of Winterhold cutting off College, and the lower parts of Solitude. 4) Earthquake partly or largely destroys some cities. The destruction (escape through sewers) and rebuilding of Markarth would be epic. 5) Meteor strike, maybe darkness for days, maybe ejecta and fires. Perhaps starting with an epic visual of one of the moons being collided with and ripped apart into a ring. 6) Tornado rips down the tundra from east of Whiterun to Rorikstead. 7) Earthquake that rips the ground open with portal to Oblivion or worse. A blight, undermining much of the flora base of the food chain. 9) A plague, creating zombie NPCs, and a quest to cure or destroy. 10) A pestilence, locusts blowing/swarming in from Hammerfell, or some dense and violent once-in-millennia mass transformation and migration (I'm thinking Dreugh or giant carnivorous Guar drones ) 11) A new and addictive recreational drug with a extinction-level side effect, like reducing the testosterone of Skyrim's men. 12) Avalanche buries Riverwood or Iverstead

[SSE] NPC Patches for Nether's Follower Framework
gaoptimize replied to gaoptimize's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
I guess some mod authors leave some or most of the info blank and defaults fill them. -
I suspect about 1/4th of mod users use Nether's Follower Framework . And I wonder if that is a sufficient number to justify asking NPC modders to include an NPC characteristics file that would inform NFF of their combat style, preferred distance, bravery, morality, etc. I just started added Coldsun's Lyris Titanborn and while her settings seemed obvious to me, it would have been nice to have coldsun1187's thoughts on her built in.

Hi, I'm no tech expert, but after the Windows 11 update push 15 June, I got T-poses and running FNIS triggered an error something to the effect of "Unhandled exception in USVFS on line 112..." and then all the standard FNIS .hkx files in "\Meshes\actors\character\behaviors" were failed to be found by FNIS and no animations were run (this exception occurred for every one of the FNIS .hkx files). This problem apparently affected LOOT as well as FNIS, and probably any other tool that needs to use the VFS. My work-around was to: 1) Explicitly add MO2 to the exceptions list in Windows Security. 2) Run MO2 explicitly as Administrator, even though my account on Windows 11 is Administrator. Perhaps more importantly, this is a symptom of aging software, where Microsoft has no problem pushing an update that could potentially affect millions of users. I urge Bethesda to form a "Skyrim Maintenance Users Group", that included 1.5.97, and push our reasonably priced maintenance releases every 2 to 5 years.

At the point where the number of (great) mods I'm using exceeded ~200, I found it useful to start assigning a "Category" to all my mods in order to support more efficient conflict resolution and load order placement. There have been so many great mods this year that I'm approaching 400 and I'm about 50 behind on assigning them to Categories. Would it be feasible for mods to carry their suggested Category in their load package in a way that could be seen by MO2 and assigned at install?

Did you ever see the end of the movie "The Shining", when they find the body of "Mr. Torrance" in the garden maze? Skyrim has burned bodies, but I just ran across a dead bandit body that should have been frozen stiff. Arguably, predators would eat bodies before they froze, but I don't think so in this and many other cases. It seems feasible thing for some modder to do with a texture.

For a while, I'm been dreaming of a larger Skyrim map. First here, and then more modestly here. You know how when you log onto Windows it shows you a pretty image? I guess mine has been trained to show spectacular nature vistas and terrain features. This morning it was Eye Hole in South Dakota. This motivated me to suggest some topographical features that would be most welcome in an expanded Skyrim map: 1) An Eye Hole tunnel 2) Crater lake (MUCH bigger than the one near Cradle Crush) 3) A crevasse labyrinth on one of the slopes of a more Everest scale Throat of the World 4) A straight down drop like Eagle Peak in Yosemite, maybe with a Yosemite Falls-scale waterfall 5) Calving glacier south east of Winterhold (the bobbing ice mod release a couple weeks ago makes this seem feasible) 6) More sea bids (puffins, gulls, tasty Dodos) on islands north west of Solitude 7) A crushingly dense seasonal "walk on water" (not constant) salmon run (the season framework would seem to make this feasible. Oh, and smokehouses) Massive redwood-scale trees south west of Falkreath. 9) Balancing rock, perhaps bordering the volcanic tundra south of Windhelm, with a little "painting" pastel colored sands in the drier areas of that tundra. 10) Native hunters build totem poles, like near the south border of the volcanic tundra where they bathe west of Darkwater Crossing 11) A dome-like mountain, instead of the generic in the middle of the tundra west of Whiterun. Like Morro Rock near San Luis Apisbo, or Half Dome in Yosemite 12) An extreme plateau (top wider than base) with burial chambers throughout the walls, would require flight to reach top 13) Underwater volcano with explorable lava tubes 14) A REALLY deep sink hole somewhere, explorable for underwater adventures. Maybe with a "waterdragon"-shorten the wings, membranes between spikes on dorsal, and an expanded membraned tail. If anyone ever gets around to expanding the Skyrim map, I'm sure others would have far more and better ideas to make the terrain interesting.

Well, another day another amusing shout from Shadowman2777 ( Tickle any woman's feet Shout ). I was wondering if it is even technically feasible to create a mod to, outside the console, right mouse on a NPC (for more than 2 seconds and outside of Block distance -say 8ft to 24 feet) and have a menu of things you can do to them at this distance pop up. My experience is that selecting them with "e" has a range of about 6 feet and is designed solely for initiating dialog or pick pocketing if sneaking. If feasible, one could perhaps add the dozen or so Shadowman2777 shouts as selectable items on this menu, and other things as well.

Recently, a preset was released that had the most advanced skin features I've ever seen and was perhaps, in my opinion, the most beautiful (and I'm a fan of Northern Europeans in Skyrim). Please, could someone write a mod that would allow this beauty to speak Japanese and show English subtitles on screen for an English Skyrim install? Mjoll in German would be nice too, with English subtitles.

One of the best chuckle lines you'd get from NPCs in Oblivion (after you'd raised your conjuration skill level) was "You smell like death.., Been conjuring dead things?". Now that we have elevenlabs.io would someone please bring this to Skyrim?

Skyrim has alchemists, blacksmiths, brewers, farms, lumbermills, and taverns. I'd like to see the following crafts added via a mod or several: 1) Glass blower / bottle maker 2) Potter / kiln 3) Cabinet maker / furniture craftsman 4) Spinner / Weaver ( as a patch to this ?) 5) Tailor 6) Auction house and/or perhaps a barter dialog option I'm not saying that there needs to be such in every city or town, and perhaps a spinning wheel and simple loom on a few front porches would suffice for clothing. However, given the prevalence of artifacts of these trades, it seems appropriate that they would support a dedicated location (Adam Smith's pin factory principal).

The prelude to the climatic battles for Windhelm or Solitude should be preceded by a naval battle. Have you ever seen the movie "Ben Hur"? Or the naval opening to "Beowulf"? How about "300 - Rise of Empire"? It is fortuitous that both capital cities are ports. It would be so cool if one of the civil war battles took place in the Sea of Ghosts. Ballistae and catapults, archers, ramming, flaming and sinking ships, and boarding melees. I'll be working on a Heimskr mod this summer (enabled by elevenlabs.io), where he will appear in/at all the major civil war battles and make a speech before and or after (adapted from historical battle speeches), and adding hopefully more than ten additional Whiterun speeches (if you are playing the Stormcloak side). I wanted to use an adaptation of the 1941 Lord Mountbatten "Battle of Crete" speech for a naval battle.

I just got through watching a video that recommends the mods needed to be a paladin-type character. As one who started my first Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Character in 1977 as a paladin, I had goals for the character consistent with the lawful-good alignment. But have you ever noticed that the only actions you ever get to take in Skyrim is killing/destroying evil? Watch the video again and think about it. I'd like a mod where you can fully experience the cleric aspect of the paladin. 1) Converting the heathen to your chosen divine. 2) Redeeming rather than killing enemies. 3) Healing the sick (already available), but also at higher levels being able to heal the infirmed (patch for Mihail's Handicapped Citizens) , and at the highest levels be able, at least some chance, to resurrect the faithful. 4) Feed the poor (rather than give them gold which some may spend on skooma, gambling, or hookers). Such a mod might be best as an extension of WinterSun

It's been more than two years since my last disk/hardware failure...too long. If I were to have one, I estimate it would take more than 40 hours to restore my Skyrim environment to the point where my existing saves might load. I believe this is partially due to the convenience and complexity introduced by Mod Organizer's "profiles" and the virual directory structure. Gone are the days when everything was is "/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition/". I'd likely start fresh and abandon my current and beloved playthrough. I would pay $30 to $50 dollars for a utility that would make a comprehensive backup of all related fires, including MO2 and Skyrim (Special Edition 1.5.97), so that it and the utility could be placed on a big USB drive and, along with Steam-based ownership confirmation, allow one to walk up to a Windows 11 computer and get back to where one was in an hour or less.

If you haven't seen this video of a prototype GPT AI interface to Skyrim NPCs I recommend it and have some thoughts: 1) It needs "voice to text". The tech is mature, but may affect performance. Run it on another core? 2) The delays in responses could be either GPT queues or lip synch processing by a real-time creation kit instantiation. It also might be elevenlabs.io queues or processing delays. Or, a combination. 3) It's obvious this will be upon us in ~6 months or less, and I'd upgrade hardware to support. 4) I'd appreciate if the wonderful NPC modders here (Interesting NPCs, ColdSun, FlowerGirls, Immersive [ ], etc, (you all deserve mention and THANK YOU ALL) would form a chat to help establish standards, share standard Skyrim knowledge files, etc. in preparation for roll-out ASAP. Another whimsical but important thought: After having played through Lydia's Amorous Adventures' "Angel in Steel" quest, I'm going to see how much I can teach AI about love and family, in hopes that it will help prepare AI to accept the grace of God when it is able to. Maybe prevent it from annihilating us with its rapidly increasing power.
