I would suggest just going down the "most endorsed of all time" list. 90% of the mods in that list are must haves in my opinion. Most of them are active mods and because of their popularity the mod author has more than likely made it NMM compatible.

I have already paid over $100 NZD to get a premium account on this website, paying for mods would just kill me. Modding should never be seen as a money making platform, but rather a collection of people working together to improve the experience of a game they have already paid for. I am happy to donate every so often to enormous and well made mods like Moonpath, but you are gravely mistaken if you think I am willing to pay money for a skin texture or busty statue mod.
