I've had this occur twice now.
I installed a small list of quality of life mods, nothing too extreme (camera tweak, weapons tweak, hair, etc).
Game works, mods work.
Patch comes out and I update mods. Game no longer launches from Vortex (stuck on swirling white "working" circle). Launch game from steam instead, it's launching as though for the first time.
Figure out the game is running in a developer bug test account and will not launch from the public account where all my save games are located.
Remove ALL mods, verify files, game works as normal. (It is a nightmare removing ALL mods so that the game is clean.)
Re-attempt to install mods through vortex. Game works. Mods work.
... patch...
Update mods. Game will not load through vortex again (swirling white "working" circle). Launch through steam, launches as though first time loading, it's in the developer bug test account again.
So I'm not sure what happens or what I'm doing wrong with vortex that simply reinstalling a mod utterly breaks the whole game, but I'm going to leave vortex alone with BG3. It's been fantastic with every other game, this one seems a bit too fragile.
