  1. I'll try it out and see if there's any noticeable improvements, thanks.
  2. I wish I could contribute more to these forums besides asking for help .-. But nevermind that. I'm slowly gathering mods for a future playthrough of Skyrim. I previously did one with a few issues here and there (intermittent CTDs when looking in inventories or loading specific areas) but I ended up deciding I wanted to do another one with the experience I gained from my first playthrough. One thing is improved stability, which would probably require pruning of some mods, and there are others I'm still looking into adding in the future. The main tools I'm using thus far are MO and LOOT, and TESVEdit to clean things as needed, although I'm aware I should probably make a bashed patch at some point. I was also planning on using ASIS and the ASIS Improved INI Files whenever I begin to finalize the list. Speaking of which, here's my current load order. I'm probably making some stupid mistakes with this, as I'm letting LOOT do most of the work and only correcting some obvious issues. As far as texture mods go - I really like the AmidianBorn textures, but those can wait until after this is relatively stable. I can run Natural Lighting and Atmospherics for ENB (with the default settings) rather well, I get 30-45 FPS in exteriors. I'm looking into adding Real Shelter (once a NLA compatible version is available, info on that wasn't too clear), Guild Starter (once its quirks get worked out) and Perkus Maximus, when it comes out. Some specs info: Intel Core i5 4670K @3.40GHz 8GB Ram AMD Radeon 7970 (3GB of VRAM) and I have Skyrim installed on an SSD, with my mods located on a separate hard drive. So yeah. I'm also interested in seeing if there's any INI tweaks I could do to make the game slightly more stable - I have uGridsToLoad set at 5, since in my previous save with it at 7, I was getting issues with scripts not triggering until I reloaded or waited for a long time and such. I also only have the modifications necessary for ENB to run, as well as the ones needed for SFO and Grass On Steroids to work. As always, any help would be appreciated! :D
  3. I'll look to see what ENB I can find that I like. I guess the feeling I'm looking for is somewhere between realism and fantasy? If that makes any sense. I'm also looking for skin improvement mods that are like that as well. The other mods that I was interested in were Skyrim Flora Overhaul and Lush Grass and Trees, but Lush Grass and Trees doesn't seem to be available right now (It says it was hidden by the author because he was overhauling the mod, and that it will take a while.)
  4. ...ng questions. I recently got a good enough PC to play Skyrim, so I wanted to get a good mod setup running. I realize that this forum gets inundated with "Halp me wif modz pl0x" topics, but I'm legitimately confused as to what visual mods are absolutely necessary, what ones are icing on top of the cake, and so on and so forth. other than that, I'm feeling pretty good about what I've got so far: Obviously not in that order, but yeah. I installed the HD DLC because I read that it made No More Blocky Faces unecessary, but I'm not quite sure on that. I know I probably don't need to install the ones that change specific quests until I get to them, but eh... My plan was to install the content mods first, then try on HD Textures (the 2K HD texture pack + the aMidianBorn stuff) and then add stuff like WATER, Climates of Tamriel, and such. And finally add stuff like SweetFX/ENB depending on what my computer can handle. The other mods I was looking at were some of the TK Mods, but it seems they have a bunch of glitches of their own. Relevant system specs: i5-4679K, OC'd to 4.4 GHz Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 8GB RAM and I have Skyrim installed on an SSD. Thanks in advance for taking time out of your day to help me.
  5. Sorry for the double post, but here's what BOSS gave me. (I know I had this in the previous post, but I'm not sure if anybody saw it. :pinch: ) So would the Bash tag suggestions be valid?
  6. C:\Program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim. I wouldn't bother unless you actually have trouble. I have played vista and win7 computers and never had an issue with default instillation. Some people do though, so if you have a problem with the computers security and skyrim then installing to a new location might be worth it. I'm not sure how difficult it will be to install to a new location after you have done all the work to get everything up an running in it's current location. That's something to take into account. Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, I'll try it and see what happens.
  7. Wrye Bash warned me that I shouldn't install it into the default installation location for Skyrim - is this really a major deal? Should I bother re-installing Skyrim to another location? EDIT: Thanks for the help so far, BTW.
  8. Thanks for the reply! Alright, I'll check the status of Skyrim as soon as I restart my computer, Steam is acting up for some reason. I'll try installing one mod at a time to make sure I don't have any major issues. I haven't tried actually starting the game without SKSE, so I'll do that as well before anything else probably. I do have Dawnguard and Hearthfire and I'd like to avoid any potential issues so I will install the unofficial patches. EDIT: Yeah, there was a problem with the game's cache files. The game runs properly now with both vanilla and just SKSE. Alright, I didn't know that about the mod. It's not really necessary, it just looked kind of cool. If it crashes a lot it's probably not really worth it for me. I doubt that I'll be able to handle high res textures as I probably can't even play it on high graphics in vanilla.
  9. Hello, Nexusmods community. I have recently bought Skyrim on Steam, and I've been eying up a couple cool looking mods on this site for a while. I have installed SKSE and NMM, and I'm not really sure where to go from here. I'm in the process of downloading the mods I want to use with NMM, but I'm not entirely sure on a few things. First thing: SKSE launching Skyrim - I'm pretty sure this is just an issue with my monitor being crap, but whenever I launch it, it opens just fine. The problem being it doesn't show the menu as it should. it shows a dark grey window, and whenever I launch Task Manager to close it (there's no close button on the window) it appears normal. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my monitor's resolution and the windowed mode (which I guess it was enabled by default, when I launched the vanilla Skyrim launcher and it detected my computer) or not. Mod list: I'm not sure if everything on here is compatible, or if I should even be using some of these mods with my crap PC. If you have any recommendations, I'd like to hear them. As well as a few recommended mods for SkyRe (SkyTEST, NoSkillLimit) and Cerwiden (UNP light body and envision Face) I am also aware that my computer is crap right now, so I am hesitant to install graphic enhancement mods (ApachiiSkyHair included :/) And finally, load order. A couple of mods are more clear on this than others, but for the most part I'm completely lost on this. Any help would be appreciated. I apologize if this is in the wrong section, as I said, I am new here
