This is a partial repost of mine from a different thread, but it applies: Loading multiple Master Files: Before you do anything, copy your SkyrimEditor.ini file to a safe location so you'll have a working backup in case something gets screwed up. Having said that, this is what worked for me. Edit your SkyrimEditor.ini file. Mine is located here: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\SkyrimEditor.ini Under the [General] section, add this: bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1 bAllowMultipleMasterFiles=1 That will allow you to have multiple master files loaded. OK - now to put hair on your follower: Once you've made the changes to your SkyrimEditor.ini file, reload the creation kit. Click on the "Load Master/Plugin Files" icon and select Skyrim.esm, Update.esm and ApachiiHair.esm and then click OK. I'm not "entirely" sure if you need to click on Update.esm, but I always do anyway. At that point, SAVE your plugin - before doing anything else. Select the actor you want to put the hair on from Actors>Actor by double-clicking on their name. Once the actor properties window opens, go to the "Characer Gen Parts" tab. Under "Base Head Parts", slelect Hair. Use the dropdown box below to select the ApachiiHair style you want for your NPC. I always use the Full preview to check out the hair style. You'll have to keep clicking the "Full" check box each time you select a different hair style to preview. Once you're happy with the hair style, click OK. important - Highlight the NPC that you edited under the Actor tree by clicking on it once. Press CTRL + F4 to export the face gen data. Important - if you changed the weight of your NPC, you might have to run the command "SetNpcWeight" from the console once you are in-game, or you'll see that ugly neck seam. Save your plugin. Load the game with your plugin selected and you should be good to go. I don't think I've forgotten anything, but it's possible. Hope this helps.
