That's Jim Cummings. He's a very talented and prolific voice actor with a memorable voice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cummings IMDB claims he voiced Farengar Secret-Fire, but that's clearly wrong. Cool video with him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgn9k9cuTjM Oh yeah, and he was also Minsc.

This is a good sentiment, but I prefer no voice acting to bad voice acting. Hell, I even have a hard time listening to good voice acting done with a bad mic. Unvoiced lines are pretty immersion breaking, but what could be done is adding an additional dialogue system that's like an improved version of Morrowind's. It wouldn't replace the original. There is also the option of text-to-speech programs, but those should be a last resort or a temporary thing. What about adding new lines to existing characters? Suddenly changing voice actors would really take you out of the game, especially if there is a drastic difference in quality. Maybe you could cut up existing audio from the same voice actor, and assemble it into new lines. That would sound kind of bad, but not completely immersion breaking. Some of the voice actors sound robotic anyway. It's a lot cheaper than flying Max von Sydow or Michael Hogan over to your house.

I would like to make female hair available for males and vice versa. It seems like I'd have to change the meshes to make them fit. Does anyone have tips on how to do this?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Skyrim still uses a version of facegen like Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV did?

Oblivion and Skyrim porting
Tyrannus007 replied to Jopo1980's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Yeah, Morroblivion does that. It originally got a cease-and-desist and got kicked out of Nexus for using copywrited content, so they changed to a program that converts content between the two games. I don't believe what they're doing is illegal. They couldn't upload it here, of course. -
Just a little immersion niggle, but it is very easy for a player character with only a small armory skill to vastly improve any armor or weapon they buy, because blacksmiths sell only base quality items (fine, exquisite, etc). Only base quality weapons are distributed throughout the game, and it is up to the player to improve them. I'd like to create a mod that changes this. Basic vendors like general stores would usually sell just basic items with no modifiers Blacksmiths sell items with higher quality modifiers The initial quality depends on the blacksmith Some characters have higher quality weapons and armor. For example, a seasoned adventure would have better iron armor than a regular bandit Some improvements I'd like to make to the smithing system: Change texture and maybe model depending on quality Add additional modifiers, including some negative ones like crude Make it cost more materials to upgrade an armor to legendary than to fine, even for someone with very high smithing. You could also choose how far you'd like to upgrade an item Require a higher smithing skill to craft fine items. Maybe 30 or something, but anyone would be able to improve crude items Characters with low smithing skill would only create crude items Making costlier items improves skill further. You'd get more skill from creating a leather suit of armor than leather gloves, for example As your skill increases, the gain you get from cheap items decreases. This prevents such exploits as grinding skill with iron daggers.

I like to play both male and female characters. Why, you ask? Why the hell not? I'm playing as an orc right now. But oh goodness me, I'm not an orc! However am I to relate to my character?

Of course it would be illegal to upload files from Oblivion, but would it be all right to have a program to convert them to Skyrim? This sort of thing is actually a legal grey area. EULAs may or may not be legally binding. It hasn't been tested in court yet.

Morrowind and Oblivion were also pretty exploitable. Morrowind had alchemy, and Oblivion had enchanting and chameleon. This sort of thing is inevitable with crafting systems. If you want a challenge, create a new character and don't level sneak, enchant, speech, or smithing very high. That should help until the CS comes out.

It seems like it would be really easy to add lots of instrumental bard music to the game once the CS comes out. Singing would need more work, and the voice acting wouldn't match up if you add them to existing bards. @torikamal I really like your voice sample. It's very good, especially compared to most voice acting for mods.

Custom races appear elderly
Tyrannus007 replied to Tyrannus007's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Thanks for the help. I think I fixed it. -
I'm working on fixing an old mod of mine, Teen Races, and I've heard reports that the custom races appear as old people. Is there a known cause for this?

Adding hairstyles to race en masse
Tyrannus007 replied to Tyrannus007's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Holding down control and clicking doesn't work, it just moves the selection to one hair. I also tried shift-click, but that does the same thing. God, GECK is such crap. Thanks anyway. -
I am trying to make a custom race mod I am creating use the hairs and eyes from Mikoto Beauty Pack. Problem is, there are a ton of hairs and it would take hours to individually drag each one from the hair menu to the race menu. Is there a way to select and add all of them at once to the list of selectable hairs for a race? Is it possible using Fo3edit or some other program?

I don't really like anime-type stuff in the game because the art styles really clash. To use an anime analogy, it looks like what you get if you put Hello Kitty and Ghost in the Shell. It kind of worked in Oblivion, but the Fallout games are much grittier-looking. Of course, I won't begrudge anybody who likes or makes these mods. By the way, you might want to use a more descriptive topic title.

I'm not sure why these debates get so heated. I mean, there's a reason Bioware gives you two options. It's not like they're going to take away Femshep and force you to play as Male Shepherd, or vice versa. Also, Femshep FTW. Yeah, Jennifer Hale's been in lots of stuff. She, along with Steve Blum and Nolan North, are one of those voice actors you hear absolutely everywhere.
-
I'm pretty sure you only mess up your perks if you use showracemenu to change your actual race. You should be okay otherwise, but to stay on the safe side I'd recommend using the console commands Xsoldier posted. Also, remember that using the console will disable achievements unless you restart the game.

So far, it looks like all the votes are for Dragon Age. Of course, this is a Dragon Age subforum, so people are obviously going to vote that way. If you go onto a Rockstar fansite, I'm sure the overwhelming majority would vote for RD:R. Also, I haven't played RD:R, but I've heard good things about it. See if you can find them on sale (Steam's a good place to get Dragon Age) and if you can, get both.

question: drinking from toilets, yuck
Tyrannus007 replied to SVSable's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Here's a link to a mod that does just this: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3604 -
Try turning on the havok sim while they are selected. That always worked for me.

I've heard this happens when you use a custom race. If you are using a custom race, download this mod: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6240

Yeah, it's a small side quest. You can find some info about it here: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Leo%27s_Drug_Habit

I think what he means is that while it costs a lot of money to distribute the DLC on a zillion CDs, it costs one hell of a lot less to just put it online. Thus, $0 for distribution is more accurate, though not entirely correct.

Thing's about the game that don't make sense
