  1. Anyone else have trouble when creating an archive in the CK? It doesn't detect the loose files, and trying to drag them from their specific paths in the Data folder does nothing. It shows the little plus sign when I drag and hold, but on release nothing happens. Even tried using the archive tool to pack the files into a bsa with the same name as my mod, added that to my .ini and that doesn't do anything either. It doesn't help that I can't even launch the CK from the B.Net launcher. Always gives me an error: "Creation Kit: Skyrim game failed to launch. Please validate the game files and try again." Uninstalling and reinstalling has done nothing, but the CK works fine if I launch the exe from the Skyrim root folder. Edit: Well I found a workaround. Unless I'm dumb and it's the only way if Archives is broken in CK. Had use the archive tool and named it "My Mod - Textures.bsa" then put that file in sub folder "XB1" within the Data folder in order for the CK to detect it.
  2. Might be rigged? That's a HUGE understatement my friend lol
  3. Some are instead snobby, apologist, smarmy double talking piles of crap. Like you. Since we are labeling people here, even though it's not the bethesda comment section. I still have plenty of friends in the community, and plenty of people link these threads nonstop, oh friends, those people who you stand up for and stuff and stand by and don't lie about behind their backs, just a FYI cause you probably didn't know what that word meant and stuff. You also do not solve their imperfections by apologizing for them every step of the way no matter what they do, they could put a hit out on your family and carry through and you would still be like "Give them time they don't get everything right the first time etc etc pandering blah blah BS" Give me a break. I want the guy who posted this back Anyway off to star trek woooooo, have fun, and T9, if that were true then a lot of MA's would commit suicide because the community, now as a majority because we added in the console kiddies, is toxic and more vitriolic than I am. They mod for themsleves, and that can be fulfilled through a lot of different creative means other than subjecting themselves to being bethesdas unpaid whores. I would agree with you, but at the same time look at this thread. Look at any site, forums etc that has a topic on this Nvidia Contest. The majority is MA's and they're attacking one another like a bunch of console "kiddes". So is our community really that much better when we're doing the same thing they do about a different topic? I upload my mods to Bnet because I want my friends to be able to play them they don't own or can't afford a gaming PC. If comments on the internet about your mods or MA's in general annoy or anger you so much, just delete them. Or just don't respond. It's the internet, people are going to be rude, entitled, full of s*** etc. Why waste the energy of getting upset? It makes no sense to me. You've made a ton of mods (some of which I use and are really good) so you clearly know what you're doing. Instead of wasting your time and energy hating on useless stuff you'll get no results from, why don't you use that time instead to make more mods, or even your own game or something? You don't like Bnet or Bethesda, we get it. Buy why pry on something when it's not going to change anything? Edit: Also, in a sense, every MA is Bethesda's unpaid whores. We keep their game alive and relevant. Tons of people are still playing F3, Skyrim, Oblivion, hell even Morrowind. Simply because of mods. Which we're essentially making Bethesda more money for anyone who opts in to PC gaming. First thing I did when I switching to PC gaming was buy Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. For the sole purpose of playing with mods to make a complete new experience, despite buying those games on consoles. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done that. And it will continue to happen because it's a ton of free content that MANY games never get. Eh I can't disagree with most of that. And I have moved on to making my own game. I hope I succeed if only to show people they have a option and don't have to be subjected to the obscene treatment they get now with almost no return besides personal fulfillment Also hi Dante. We summoned thee That's awesome. Seriously, not being sarcastic or anything. I wish you the best of luck. I'm fairly new to modding, so I've always viewed as a stepping stone to game development. You gotta start somewhere right? Personal fulfillment is worth it though. You learn, you get better and maybe come across the right person and land yourself a job. Let's be honest, no one wants the end goal to be spending hundreds of hours on a mod hoping someone will hit that donation button and give you a few bucks. We'd all love to do this and get paid. Hell, we all deal with horrible crap at our real jobs and most of the time get nothing from it but a crappy paycheck. Just part of life. But at least with modding you can give yourself an opportunity to possibly get your foot in the door. Especially with how big social media is nowadays. I think it's a good learning step but honestly it's a terrible portfolio piece on its own. My plan was always to head my own company for it, so for those with the means and the perseverance to do the actual annoying work (I.E. Management lol) it should be a good start. And for those who do it for fun/hobby I am hoping some company comes along that doesn't treat them like dog s*** and supports them, or hell if I get big enough I'll do that as well for them. Imagine what ppl like that salty ma would do for a company that treated him like a human considering what he does for Bethesda now. Fair point, but you never know. Something someone makes could fall into the hands of the right person and it could land them a job. You never know. Even if it's low position, you just need your foot in the door to be able to show companies what you can really do. You have a great idea, and the right attitude about it. So I don't want to take away from that, but I can tell you from experience that's how big companies are. I was a general manger for a multi-million dollar company and you're literally their puppet. They don't care about you, your life, or anything aside from you making them money. They just want you to shut up and do what they say, even if it's wrong or illegal. And in my case, I didn't support that and it got me fired lol Not to say every company is like that, but I'm fairly certain the majority are. Bethesda portrays themselves as more of a family than a company. That could be true, or it might just be like the company that I worked for where Pete Hines is just their puppet. Although, I met him during my time as a game journalist (Skyrim was coming out) and he's actually a really cool guy. But hey, who knows. But there's some things we could change, but others we have no control over. Just gotta deal with it, or ignore it. Ya I find that approach appalling honestly. Even though I do know that's how most are run. I do not run mine that way and my wife's business is not in any way run that way. You can be successful and rich without treating your workers or even super fans IE modders like s***. We do it everyday and both our parents have way more successful businesses and treat everyone they do business with with respect. But people are willing to take it like bitches so they get away with it and it just disgusts me. I'd love to work for a company that did that, it's a shame they're so far and few. The company I managed started that way, then rich Wallstreet assholes came in and it went to s#*!. Even though you probably disagree, I still think Bethesda has our best interest at heart (Like I said, I met and chatted with Pete along with quite a few other Bethesda employee's and they're all really nice people) but they're also expanding into an extremely large community where they can't please everyone. Before it was just PC gamers with mods. Now they have console players (Which I personally think is great for the industry). But of course it comes with backlash. Which I honestly think they expected, but didn't expect it to the reach the level it has. So now they're stuck between the community that's supported and made mods for the games for years, and their new modding community. But at the same time you have a split between those PC MAs. I think Bethesda's biggest problem is they're so slow with everything and lack of communication. Obviously there's higher ups in place that won't allow certain things to happen or be said, but I think they could do a better job. A perfect example is the whole PS4 mod thing. Not a single word since the delay. I simple "Hey, we're still working it, but it's taking time" would be really appreciated from that specific community. Same thing with this contest. I mean, GStaff did say they're in touch, and I even reached out on Twitter and got the same response, but the contest ends Sunday and no further statement has been given. And it's a shame because like I said on the last page, MA's are now attacking each other because Bethesda (Even though it's not their contest) and Nvidia are staying quite on the whole situation.

  7. I cannot respond to you the way i would like so brb heading to one of your bethesda.flunkie mod pages so I can harass you to my hearts content. Those moderators with the ability to regulate it btw do it TERRIBLY, even inside their own ruleset which is a massive boon to anyone breaking the law, IE stealing etc. This is probably due to them moderating multiple sites for free in a lot of cases as they are volunteers as well (Got this info direct from one in a PM) I finally after 3 weeks was able to actually delete my mods from their site instead of just hiding them as that feature was broke as well. I really will not understand why anyone with a little self respect will actually mod for bethesda stuff anymore, I sure don't have a lot of it and I quit this crapshoot so meh. To each his own. Maybe because, you know, people make mods for the community (or themselves) and not Bethesda. That, and not everyone like yourself goes out of their way to hate on people simply because they own a console and would rather get their hard work get into the hands of as many people that want to use it. If someone wishes to upload their mods here and Bnet, who cares. Does it hurt your feelings or something? I have to agree with Arthmoor here. Any time your name comes up, it's pure negativity. Nothing positive. As he said, you made it clear you don't like Bethesda. So instead of whining about it, stop buying their games and stop making mods for them. It's really that simple.
  8. While I agree with you, you (along with nearly everyone here) has to remember this is Nvidia's contest, not the Nexus's. The also based the mods on "How fun is it to play" and "How polished is it". What you or someone else may find fun, may not be fun for the Nvidia employee's and vice versa. Despite Faction Housing having the most votes, there's people that don't care about player bedrooms or settlement stuff all together. It's pretty obvious Nvidia does enjoy that aspect since her mod is up there (not to mention the polish and quality of it). My mod (Cannibal in Concord) is puzzles, riddles, key hunting with next to no action. I'm sure there's a TON of people out there that absolutely HATE that type of gameplay. And that's fine, it's not for everyone. But again, this isn't our contest and it was a group of people we don't know that decided what they thought was fun. I'm sure there were entries that most likely had a ton of content and work put into them. But if those select Nvidia employee's don't find it fun, why should it be placed up there but not something they actually thought was fun? Point is, everyone has different taste. It's like arguing over two games on which is better, even if they're not on the same level of quality. The problem I have is the community is lashing out at the authors (not you per say, just saying in general) instead of their dislike in Nvidia's taste in mods. I don't think it's right to outright bash and insult someone else's work out of frustration that has nothing to do with them. We all do this in our free time for FUN, and it's silly how crazy people are getting and attacking other authors over this contest.
  9. Honestly I would take those numbers with a grain of salt. Consider it's so easy to use a proxy to change your IP and vote as much as you want. Nothing against her mod for having the most, but considering the backlash Pew Pew is getting, I watched it jump 50 votes in less than 5 minutes this morning, meanwhile every other mod didn't budge. Hard to believe that many people so early in the morning are all just voting for Pew Pew when mods like Faction Housing has a ton of support, especially on the Nexus.
  10. Now imagine your mod and this contest in the age of F1/2. As much as it pains me to say it, I didn't play F1/2 up until a few years ago. In fact, I just got into PC gaming about 4 years ago (I know, I was blinded peasant). Plus, I was only 8 years old when F1 came out. Although, if the modding community was as passionate back then as they are now, I wish I would have been a part of it.
  11. Well, thank you. I much appreciate that. It is my work (I slaved 6-12 hours everyday for 2 weeks making it), so it's hard not to defend it. Although, people here are much more civil and respectful in their responses. There's been a few other comments on Reddit that (In my opinion) are reaching for straws and extremely salty their mod wasn't chosen. For example, saying me placing an item called "Human meat" is extremely immoral and I should be DQ for that. Like really? What's actually interesting is I uploaded my mod prior to Bethesda posting the rules about children. Once it was posted, I was actually quite worried. Because like you said, even though it's written, it may still break Bnet's rules. The mod itself is pretty popular on Xbox (Nearing a million views, 60K+ downloads, 2.5K+ ratings) so I figured by now if I did break the rules it would have been removed. Then again, it's an adult game, so maybe no one reported it. Or literally the word "acts" is saving it from breaking the rules since none are actually preformed. At the end of the day, I don't want to criticize the work of other finalist. Because all in and all, whether it took them 5 minutes or 500 hours to make, they still did it using their own free time. And my mod aside, Nvidia did pick some really good mods that I enjoy and use i.e Vivid Weathers, Faction Housing, D.E.C.A.Y etc. It's a shame Nvidia handled this contest so poorly because mod authors are turning against each other over money (trust me, we all want 10K) rather than coming together. This is all our hobby and something we enjoy. Completely off topic. I forget how, but I came across your Heritage Home mods for Fallout 3 a few weeks ago and the level of detail inspired me to push my next project further in that aspect. So thanks for that :)
  12. That's your opinion and I respect that. But I still don't think the quotes I used from Albert Fish or any other serial killer would be considered a sexual slur or pornography for that matter. Had it went into detail on what exactly they were doing, then of course. But I quoted two words in a note you may or may not find. There's even a warning message on my mod page. So that would have raised a red flag at Nvidia to be on the lookout for something they may break the rules. And obviously to them, it hadn't which is why it's up there. I definitely understand your point of view, and I do agree that if Nvidia really didn't want anything disturbing they probably would not have picked a mod with 'A Cannibal' in the title. Actually, I didn't even consider the name of my mod, but that's a pretty good point. Also, I completely understand your PoV and reasoning just for the record. I think the real problem here is the "cookie cutter" Terms and Conditions. You even quoted "offensive language". That could be 100 different things to different people, but when your running a contest based off an M rated game, that seems a little silly. Either Nvidia didn't read their own TaC, or there's an invisible line of what can be done, and what's considered too far. Like you said, "Cannibal" is in the name of my mod, so obviously it's not E rated content. I guess we just have to wait to hear from Nvidia, assuming they actually post a response. Edit: Also I'd like to point this out: "Round 2: If an Entrant’s Entry is selected as one of the top 5 Mods in one of the four categories (as per Section 5 below), such Entrant will be contacted by Sponsor on or before July 10 via the email provided by Entrant. These selected Entrants will then have a screenshot of their Mod posted on (contests.nvidia.com/fallout4modcontest) and open to public voting. " If any other finalist that was selected is reading this thread, were you ever contacted? Because I certainly wasn't.

  14. Yeah that's a mystery. I can't remember if I selected data or map when I submitted my entry but it certainly wasn't status lol So you're saying despite clearly stating which Category you want entered in, they moved you into another one? It's very important you're honest about this. I am building a law case against Nvidia right now and the more evidence we have and the more examples we have of the effects of their actions the greater the chance there will be a liabilities claim which, if I did go ahead with this would see everyone that entered get a pay out. Correct. Because quest weren't really specified to a specific category, I figured it would be under data or map. I want to say I selected map, and I'm about 70% sure on that. I figured if I did select the wrong category by accident or it had been data instead of map, they would move mine accordingly in the event I was selected. But apparently they choose to move me to status for whatever reason. It doesn't help there was no confirmation emails. Even being selected as a finalist I didn't receive any type of email. So why the did what they did is beyond me.
  15. Yeah that's a mystery. I can't remember if I selected data or map when I submitted my entry but it certainly wasn't status lol
