So I am trying to start making mods for myself and I hit a wall immediately. No matter how many times I reinstall Skyrim and the CK or verify their caches, the CK crashes after I try to load Skyrim.esm and Update.esm. I've asked around and I can't seem to get any help beyond people telling me to try these initial steps. I tell them I knew to do these things and then that's usually the last I hear from them, until someone else comes and does the same thing. What I'm getting at is, I would really appreciate some new input. What I have gotten so far is not helpful, and I'm pretty disheartened by the fact that the default fresh installations of both Skyrim and the CK still result in a crash after it finishes loading everything. It usually lasts 2-3 seconds after it loads before it crashes. So, I really can't make any mods like this and would appreciate any help I can get.

http://i.imgur.com/chbhgsv.jpg So, for some reason in my game when I zoom in with my Pip-Boy, it's not centered properly. I've tried unintstalling just about every mod I have but this seems to persist. I have yet to try to make a new save but after I post this, I am going to do that. The only mods I currently have installed are some optimization textures by torcher and full dialogue interface. Could it be either of those?

So, SK isn't updated to the latest FO4 version... Is it going to be soon, or is that similarly named file on the Hot Files of the nexus a new version? I was about to start up a game in preparation for Far Harbor, but it seems like it would be better to wait until it comes out and mods patch and update. I almost want to stop trying to play until they are done updating the game.

EDIT: Fixed what was here before, but now I have a new issue; I am trying to create a merged patch for Leveled Items list, and am not sure which to use. There's parts that have different colored words than the rest of them which are in black text. Some of those are highlighted in yellow. Some are highlighted in red. I know I'm supposed to go through and select the red ones but is that the red text ones or just the highlighted ones?

http://pastebin.com/ZWwbhLRD http://imgur.com/a/1K879 So, I am trying to figure out how to fix this texture. If I look directly at the puddle, it seems to looks fine. But when viewed peripherally, that milky paint texture shows up. Is it part of the WET mod I am using? I am also using the Vogue ENB, if that matters. Help appreciated.

So I am trying to sort my Fallout 4 plugins but I cannot seem to get LOOT to find or recognize what Fallout 4 is and that I have it. How do I get LOOT to find Fallout 4? Fixed, delete post.

So, I was thinking about how in Skyrim, there's already stuff for transformations with Werewolf and Vampire Lord. I was thinking it might be possible to (with the aid of the GECK) mod in a transformation for the Sole Survivor. I then went about thinking of what would make sense and what would not, i.e. Deathclaw transformation- why? So, I want this to happen. I want to make it happen, but I have no idea how to mod or where to start. I am looking for baby steps to work up towards my project, so that I may be able to tackle it. At least the coding side. I will not be able to do the animations needed I think, and would need the help of someone else to make that look any good. Again, I know the GECK isn't out, but what resources for Skyrim can I begin to mess around with so that I am able to do something when the GECK is out?

So these are the mods I currently have installed, and for some reason there's a looming fog over everything in my game and it doesn't seem to end at any point. Maybe that is just the weather system and that is the weather for today, but I am not sure. I am going to disable Radiant Fog and see if that does anything, but I am not sure. I have my timescale set to 4 if that matters. Load order is posted below as well, if anyone is aware of what could be causing this that would be helpful. I don't wish to remove fog altogether, this fog actually looks nice. It's just been going on for a while.

You didn't elaborate at all.

So I installed a fair number of retexture mods, and that was before the NMM updated to add Fallout 4 to its listings. However I am wanting to switch over to NMM to streamline the modding process. Do I have to go uninstalling the old textures I put in manually, or will adding them through NMM overwrite the textures/files. For some reason, a few of the mods I am using do not detail what exactly has to be done to manually uninstall them. I could certainly take a guess, but I really would rather not, and was hoping NMM would make things work. There's also two ESPs I have that were added manually. I need to update everything anyway as most of the mods came out with updated versions.

So, I really don't like the way they changed from New Vegas in that dogs and robots fill a secondary slot. I really want to be able to have Dogmeat and someone else. Is there any way to remove this in console and not need a mod? I haven't seen any mods for this and I'm either surprised or chalking it up to the GECK not being out yet, in which case f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@f*#@ !!!

Stutter/Framerate issue
masani23 replied to masani23's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
So I got my game back to vanilla (with all of the DLC) and before I did I messed around with FNVEdit and think I know how it works. Where should I go from here? My mods I want most of all are Nevada Skies, WMX, PNV and The Legacy of X13. What are some of the mods you use that use scripting? -

I'm glad you didn't take my accusations personally, because they weren't meant to be. As for the 4GB I guess I should choose my words better. I am not using some thing that combines NVSE and 4GB. I am using NVSE (latest version) and the 4GB enabler with is now compatible with NVSE (when I last played you needed a special 4GB NVSE version). So I am using the latest 4GB enabler. I've heard of overclocking but what exactly does it mean and how do it do it? I would like to compensate for my PCs low processor, but I don't think I can afford an upgrade. That and the reason I never changed it was because it was stuck to my motherboard. I can't remember why but when I was doing upgrades that was a reason not to mess with it. If I were to do a vanilla restore, could I perhaps seek your guidance in getting my New Vegas as stable-y modded as possible? I am not using half as many mods as you are, and you seem to be able to make everything work for yourself. -
Stutter/Framerate issue

First off, I know you are trying to offer help but if we are going to get anywhere you need to get off that horse. I may know less than you about modding but being spoken to like that will not solve anything for me, it just paints you as a know-it-all a**hole who gets off on talking down to people. For example, I ALWAYS look for a compatibility section to be aware of any issues, and if there is none I check for a readme. I've been modding the past 5 years, I just haven't formally introduced myself to most of the stuff. It's all self learned, which has its merits and its downsides. Second, I did specify if I was using the 4GB enabler in my first post. Read better. Now, as you put it, "to business": I know all about doing what I like to call, "the vanilla restore" (you called taking out the trash) which is getting the game back to the unmodded state. I also know not to hold onto my profiles as they are quite dependent on the mods in them and almost any changes b***f*** them. I know. I'm not as new to this as you think. That's why the file I have going now is just a test file until the game is working. Something I won't get attached to. It was meant for this testing. I also use BOSS though I was trying to keep the load order organized based on intuition this time as I have found what BOSS likes to do with my load order inconsistent. The only things I don't use are Wrye Bash and FNVEdit. Those things confuse the hell out of me- I've been to there pages and read them and just read your explanation- so repeating it back to me with snarky remarks (as I am sure you would if I didn't add this) isn't going to help. If you could help me understand these things differently that would be great. And, now that I recall, I don't think there is anything wrong with my game, the way I installed mods, or anything like that- which it seems to me you jumped to the conclusion that that is what it must be. I'm pretty sure this is an issue of me not optimizing the games settings or my PC itself. The reason I say that is because the only reason I think something could be wrong is simply because you told me so, and before you said anything I had no such thoughts, so maybe you are jumping the gun. I have yet to crash and have yet to find any weird errors, and this type of stutter to me doesn't seem much different than what you might encounter if you are simply playing a game on too high of settings. That is all to say- I will keep in mind what you said about mods but before I toss my current settings (which I've been particular about when I install any of the mods you saw save like the last 10 as I was messing around with those) I am going to mess around with antialiasing and anisotropic filtering. If you know which of those settings would affect performance more- or texture mods maybe, knowing which causes how much strain would be great, as that was the intent of the post. Also: Processor IntelĀ® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 2394 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Lastly, how do I limit my use of mods? I try to keep it low-key but always end up going mod crazy as "I can't play without that" (in reference to most of the mods you saw in my load order) -

So I've got my game pretty well optimized now, the only thing is that there is an occasional stutter or lag in my game and usually the footstep sound stops then when my game goes back to normal it's as if all of the sound is delivered to me at once. I looked at the New Vegas Stutter Remover and it said with the newest version you shouldn't need it. I am going to look into it anyway, but am not sure if that is the only potential cause for problem. I run my game on the highest settings. I also use NMCs large texture mod (and 4GB NVSE). Would downgrading to a smaller NMC file help with this stutter, or maybe lowering anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering? I do not know too much about this sort of thing, but any other tips for how I can optimize my game would be great. Because what usually happens is I go too crazy with mods, and then the game doesn't work. But everything seems to be working fine now, aside from this issue and one other. The other is that in the background, my game looks ugly as I can see the shitty faraway textures, and for some reason they are often twitch-y and distracting. I have tried Dynavision 3 but it caused my game to crash I believe. What can I do to fix this as well?

So I really want to play through Fallout New Vegas again, but I haven't been able to decide if I want to play that or F3. I want to compromise by finding a mod that allows me to play the F3 DLC in NV, but not that mod that allows you to go to both Wastelands. I just want the DLC from 3 in the Mojave. Does such a thing exist?

I've been getting back into Skyrim and instead of spending tons of graphical power on 2-4k texture mods, I am just going to use a few choice ones and the high resolution texture pack along with some other mods like CoT. I also plan to use ENB but the site most pages link to is a description of what ENB is and does, with no download links. Does anyone know how to get the files?

go for it.

Does anyone know which or rather what type of changes a mod may do to cause this error? For some reason Absorb Health and Soul Trap are one Enchantment, and I can't adjust Soul Trap stuff, just AH. Link
