  1. It's not... My game loads fine and they are showing as being in the correct order in NMM. But in FNVEdit it's keeping me from cleaning Dead Money because it's showing FalloutNV.esm as the second plug in. I also can't check for compatibility issues because it crashes the load order.

I'm stumped as to what could be causing it.

  2. Well, there are places that I know bandits should be if the mod were working correctly and they are never there. I have used the mod many times before on my old laptop. I'll try that but I think according to some author's notes correlation I had placed it down there trying to get it to work. I'm actually back here right now because of another ctd. Seems to be happening more and more the higher level I get.

  3. Hey, thanks for any help... I'm about level 36 on this playthrough with these mods but it seems to me that at least one mod is not working. Banditry. I used Loot to order, TES5Edit to clean and then searched and re-search all the author notes to make final adjustments to my load order but still it seems that one mod is not working and I do get the rare CTD. Anyone have any ideas what I did wrong?

  4. This is getting too religious for me now. Of course I have my own beliefs, and of course I also have faith... but what I believe in is nobody's concern and will not be brought up in public discussions. Only one thing, I will not accept religious dogmas as proof for something's impossibility.

Only concentrating on this supposedly huge difference between humans and animals in my eyes is just pure arrogance on an existential scale.

We don't know why we are how we are today, only that we once were just like they are now, and all it took us to get from them to us was time.

There's a lot of scientifically proven evidence that a lot of animals very well possess features or abilities some think only humans possess or are capable of, most of the things mentioned inside here as an exclusively-human thing so far very well among them as well already.

Claiming that non-human things will never gain these abilities, while we ourselves still don't know how we got them to begin with, in my eyes is arrogance and ignorance, nothing else.

Of course we can't 'make' a machine sentient. We don't know how, for one, and for two, we weren't 'made' sentient ourselves either. We 'became' so.

What if sentience can't be 'created'? What if something must 'develop' itself so long until it 'becomes' sentient one day, just like we did?

Who are we to say something else than us never can become sentient, if we still don't know how we became sentient ourselves? This doesn't even work in this oh-so-human thing called logic thinking in here.

And if becoming sentient really happens on its own at some point, what else will it take than having the exact same foundation there was when it happened the last time?

Do we really know enough about it to ever even dare to make as bold a claim as to say "no, it never will"? "Animals are animals, they never will be more." How arrogant is that? Did we 'make' them? Do we 'know'?

My apologies, if I offended anybody, but this is aimed at certain parts of mankind in general. I have a habit of being disappointed with my own species on a daily basis, as they just give me reason to on a daily basis. Always have and always will. And sometimes it gets to me as much as to cause a rant aimed at them in response such as this one. Nothing personal.

So... now, as this all isn't even the topic of this debate to begin with... how did this topic derail again from a debate about what we should do "if" it were the case to a fundamental discussion of why it's impossible to ever "be" the case? What kind of "what if" discussion is this? And how did the topic "religion", that is not to be brought up in the debate section, all of a sudden end up being brought up inside here again anyways this time?

Will it just continue down that way and inevitably end up locked, or will it indeed return back to topic at one point and go on the way it was intended to?

I don't know if I have enough 'faith' to 'believe' in the latter, while we're at it... but I'm always open for being proven wrong, you know?

I for one have to leave now. Off to bed first, the rest we will see then.

I'm going to need to break this down point by point.

This is getting too religious for me now. Of course I have my own beliefs, and of course I also have faith... but what I believe in is nobody's concern and will not be brought up in public discussions..

I will hold you to this statement.

I will not accept religious dogmas as proof for something's impossibility.

I actually never said that. Please reread what I said.

What I did say was that Programming a machine to be Self-Willed is a paradox. If you program it to act then it is acting on your programming and not acting in self-will. Self-will being a major part of the very hard to define set of ideas that we have agreed to call "sentience".

Only concentrating on this supposedly huge difference between humans and animals in my eyes is just pure arrogance on an existential scale.

Ok... So you don't see a huge difference between a bird using a stick to get ants out of a knot-hole and Man building rocket powered vehicles to carry themselves into outer space? Or a gigantic difference between the most advanced chimp's problem solving skills and Einstein's theory of Relativity? I could go on, but if my point has not been made with a reader yet, I will assume that no comparison ever will.

There's a lot of scientifically proven evidence that a lot of animals very well possess features or abilities some think only humans possess or are capable of, most of the things mentioned inside here as an exclusively-human thing so far very well among them as well already.

I have no reason to refute this statement, nor did I ever, specifically or implicitly. Animals are fabulous, wondrous creatures and some of my favorite relationships in this world have been with animals. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them.

1 Claiming that non-human things will never gain these abilities,

2 while we ourselves still don't know how we got them to begin with,

3 in my eyes is arrogance and ignorance, nothing else.

1 I never claimed that non-human things will never gain these abilities. You are putting words in my mouth. Please, stop that.

2 You do not know. I am satisfied with the explanation that I have found through living this life.

3 I have now been called arrogant and ignorant regarding a statement that I never made.

1We don't know why we are how we are today,

2only that we once were just like they are now, and all it took us to get from them to us was time.

    1. Again, you don't know. I am fully aware of why we are here based on my belief system.

    2. This is where I will hold you to your statement in the beginning of this discourse. You claim that this conversation is "getting too religious" for you. And that you believe that your beliefs and faith are no one's concern and will not be brought up in a public discussion and then you start smashing people over the head with your religious beliefs under the guise of calling them not religious beliefs and simply stating them as fact.

You asspouse to the Dogma that we once were as animals were. Me, in particular, and many millions of people in this world, do not believe that.

Of course we can't 'make' a machine sentient. We don't know how, for one, and for two, we weren't 'made' sentient ourselves either. We 'became' so.

    More Dogma.

    Dogma, dogma and more dogma...

You belong to the that great unnamed religion that worships Human Understanding. And, you browbeat everyone who doesn't belong to your religion with your religion's dogmata. This religion posing as a non-religion gains access to Forums that Ban Religious Debate by simply pretending it's not a religion. You have to love the lies that get told enough that so many people believe them so they are accepted as truth.

And if becoming sentient really happens on its own at some point, what else will it take than having the exact same foundation there was when it happened the last time?

Yes... on this statement I can agree.

Do we really know enough about it to ever even dare to make as bold a claim as to say "no, it never will"? "Animals are animals, they never will be more." How arrogant is that? Did we 'make' them? Do we 'know'?

I never actually said that "it never will". Again, you are putting words in my mouth. And again, I ask you to please stop that. I also never said that animals are animals and will never be more. Please stop calling me arrogant regarding statements I never made.

Honestly, I don't quite know how to respond to your apology... but I will try. I was not offended in so much as I do not appreciate being called things like arrogant and ignorant in a debate situation. It is my understanding that name calling comes when the lack of an actual argument is apparent. Much worse to be called these things in reference to statements that I never made and that I can only assume that you inferred from the things I did say. I, too, apologize if my statements were not clearly enough stated in such a way as to not have you carry away more meaning than I intended.

I fear you expect too much from others. Try not to be too hard us... we're only Human.

So... now, as this all isn't even the topic of this debate to begin with... how did this topic derail again from a debate about what we should do "if" it were the case to a fundamental discussion of why it's impossible to ever "be" the case? What kind of "what if" discussion is this? And how did the topic "religion", that is not to be brought up in the debate section, all of a sudden end up being brought up inside here again anyways this time?

To answer these questions we must first realize that this thread was a question about religion, from its very inception, if you are a person who delves deeper into a subject then just to give it a cursory glance and a superficial response. While I have made references to the spiritual aspect of the possibility of man creating "sentience" in a construct, on purpose or by accident, I did make sure to leave my statements as open-ended as I could to ensure that I was being as inclusive of what people may believe as possible. Also, those statements were made as laments and observations from my own perspective and were presented as such. If you care to reread them, you will find that is the case.

  5. Religion apart, the human brain is just a bunch of electronic 'circuits' communicating with each other. The number of interactions has been measured. Specialists forecast that by 2025 we will have a computer with the processing power compared to the human brain. So, theoretically, then we could simulate ALL of its functions and behaviors.

But . . . to simulate something we must, first, understand it. And, then, put A LOT of money into the development of the simulation. I don't see this happening any time soon.

Using HotAssassin's analogy: Yes !!. We will have that car. What we will not have is someone to drive it.

I think that you have inadvertently hit the proverbial nail on the head. Your use of my analogy, which was a poor analogy at best, would have been best served by you saying: We could have that car. What we will not have is someone who will pay to have it built.

What you did say is more fulfilling of my perspective. We may well have ability to build a computer that can equal the processing power of the human brain at some point. But, having that still will not make that machine capable of self will.

Watch the video the question will follow.

If we (the human species) are able to create , build , make a construct of the level of sentience as presented in the video , basically one that is just as self aware as we are in all respects . Do we as humans have the right to claim that construct as property . If not then what happens to the capitalist notions of property and the right to benefit by the fruits of your own labor.

If such a "construct" could be construed as "sentient" (assuming we can define exactly what sentience is) then no, we do not have the right to claim such an object as "property".

This whole argument reminds me of Data's Trial which I agreed with at the time and my opinions havn't changed. To assume that a biological brain is somehow special and can never be understood or replicated or in some way set upon a pedestal above all others is basically magical thinking and very close to religious dogma.

I assert that what you call "religious dogma" is exactly the element of being human which cannot be understood nor replicated. It saddens me that so many fail to see the uniqueness of humanity amongst the world of living entities. To religate us to merely an advanced animal status is precisely the kind of constraint that would hold us back from ever achieving such a goal as creating a self-willed construct capable of complex emotions of its own.

Programming a construct to be self willed is an oxymoron, a juxtaposition of two things that are inherently opposed. Or, more correctly, a paradox. To entertain the thought of such things is akin to pulling together the ingredients of the so called "primordial ooze", applying some type of power, and hoping to see new life spring up from it. Now, we have entered the realm of the Gods. For only the Gods can do that which is impossible. The Miraculous... Or, if you will, to be the witness to a so called "Quirk of Fate" which has only happened once in 4.54 billion years.

Believe what you will... dream... hope... but on your deathbed remember my words from here. You will NEVER see a truly self-willed machine in all the days of your life.

  6. Please give a specific definition of 'sentient'. Otherwise, I don't think your arguments hold water. For the purposes of this discussion, I am *assuming* that it is defined as "self-aware". NONE of the learning machines we have today can make that particular claim, however, as the technology improves, (more processing power) it is going to become easier to make that particular step. If you simply claim that 'we don't understand what it is, so therefore, we can never replicate it.' Then our first step should be to define. Otherwise, any discussion is pointless.

You're right, they won't be thinking or behaving exactly the same as humans, but even humans do not think or behave exactly like other humans. But we are not talking about making artificial humans. At best, we would only ever be able to make an emulation of specific human behaviors so that an AI can act in ways that a human might, but this would only be based on programming (internally or externally dictated) telling them how to act and not some sort of natural behavior. But that only makes sense since there is no natural component in place and all the architecture was intentionally designed to mimic known behaviors.

What we're talking about is making an AI advanced enough to be able to autonomously engage with humans on a social, intellectual, or even creative level. For this, we don't actually want something that merely acts like a human. Instead what we want is something that thinks in differing ways which can formulate ideas that would not normally occur to humans.

    Agreed. From the Wikipedia

I suppose the latter is the real theme of this thread.

I believe the specific definition of "Sentient" was laid out in the initial post as:

the level of sentience as presented in the video , basically one that is just as self aware as we are in all respects .

But, I do agree that the common, modern connotation of this word has gone far beyond its original definition to encompass the meaning of several related words combined... And, I am guilty of using the word in that same manner in previous posts.

I think it would be more fitting to say: that "je ne sais quoi" of being Human. And I can only chose Human because we know of no other entity possessing that certain something.

Saying that my point of view "doesn't hold water" is a poor excuse for a counter-argument. Especially if you are going to site "advances in processing power" as your path to the creation of anything that is completely beyond possibility. No matter how far we advance the gasoline powered internal combustion engine, it will never make a car that can run across the surface of the earth at the speed of light. Make a valid argument that man will ever understand the complexities of what it means to be human, even just on an intellectual level, nevermind a spiritual level, or concede that I am correct.

when it comes to the 'rights' such constructs should or shouldn't be merited, well, I think it clearly depends on the intent behind their creation.

You want an intelligent worker, learning by mistakes and improving itself, but never going to disagree with you or even have an opinion of its own? Fine, then create it so. It'll be a machine, will never become self-aware, and thus will never need any rights or freedom or whatever.

But if you truly want to create a 'living' artificial being, with the intent to create it as close to a human being as possible... Then are you really going to be surprised it'll come the point where you'll have to grant it the same rights and freedoms you grant other living beings and humans? The closer you make it to 'human', the more you must consider it 'as' human.

When you create an AI that is 'aware' of itself and values its own 'life' as much as you do your's, and the first thing you show it is the button you just need to press to end its existence... then don't be surprised the first task it'll perform is find the way to prevent you from ever pushing it.

Do you want machines? Then create machines.

Do you want to create sentient living beings? Then you also damn better treat them as such!

Very well said and actually on topic. My intention was never to derail this thread, but this last part of your post makes me fear I may have done just that.

  7. I think you underestimate homo sapiens ability to surprise. In this case though, I think "sentient" leans more toward "self aware". A machine that is aware of its "Self", and is able to learn. That is *currently* beyond our technology, but then, look at what the last hundred years has wrought. We went from horse and buggy, to a space station, and probes leaving our solar system. Had you told a man in 1915, that we would have landed men on the moon, and have folks living in space, you would have found yourself on a short ride to the nearest asylum.

A machine can be programmed to learn, that has already been accomplished. Learning algorithms are a current reality and improvements will come quickly. Programming concepts which we fully understand is possible.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp89tTDxXuI

What a machine cannot be programmed to do is to be human. We cannot program a machine to do something that we do not fully understand ourselves. To think that it will "just happen" once machines learn how to improve learning algorithms which it would then apply to itself or other machines is like thinking a tornado can go through a junkyard and a functional jumbo jet could be created in its wake. It's not going to happen.

The idea that I underestimate Man's ability to innovate is an assumption that has no basis. As stated in my previous post, I believe that Man has been far more advanced for a much longer time than most people alive would give us credit for. But regardless of our abilities, we still cannot replicate, in Artificial Intelligence, that which we do not comprehend.

You say that, yet we are slowly crawling our way there through sheer determination. AI we have is already continually advancing at an increasing rate each year to where we will probably have service robots becoming common in higher end hotels and the like before the close of the decade. We already have the first of such robots appearing. Meanwhile we have self-driving cars, self-driving forklifts in warehouses, automated baggage handling in some European Airports, countless bots online designed to decode and emulate human communication. And this is only the "applied" portion of the technology out there. It isn't a question of "if", but the question of "when". It has been validly seen as a question of "when" among those who work in actually developing AI for well over the last 20 years. Obviously the answer related to "when" is not one of immediate fulfillment, but we are getting closer. It also isn't being based on human pride or optimism, but rather trying to understand how our own brain handles logic or rather non-logic and how to create machines which can better respond to human non-logic.

Regarding alien races, given the vastness of space, the time taken to traverse between stars and the amount of resources required, the first reasonably intelligent aliens we encounter will probably be non-organic, or atleast mostly non-organic since machines tend to hold up better to the effects of cosmic radiation and aren't as limited by a short lifespan. Even the oldest living animal species we know of live only a fraction as long as a machine could be designed to, meanwhile also needing more material resources to sustain that life. Additionally, any alien culture we may encounter which has managed to reach beyond their homeworld would have also probably developed their own AI and been faced with many of the same challenges that we will face. Meaning that none of this is about some sort of "modern pride", but rather that humanity would just be passing one more of the milestones in the long road to technological maturity. Technological maturity being something that not every species reaches, or reaches in the same way, but also not really being anything unique in the grand scale of things.

The big change over the last 50 years is that we've started being able to better and more accurately predict where these technological milestones are, and what their dependencies are. There is still science fiction, but we are getting better at filtering those components which are fantasy from those which have realistic merit.

All the instances you mention in your first paragraph are things we fully understand followed by hopes and dreams. Hopes and dreams which would require a leap forward that far outpaces going from horse and buggy to space travel. Please refer to my above answer to the post by HeyYou.

Your second paragraph is based on so many assumptions and contradictions that I digress on the basis of keeping the thread on topic.

  8. First, the video was beautifully presented and actually made me cry. That's art, baby...

Second, this conversation (as fun and disturbing and probing of modern morality, or lack thereof, as it may be) is much like asking if walking on the surface of the Sun would be more like being in mud or water. The very idea that AI could be raised to a level that could be called sentient (in the definition intended here to mean: be fundamentally alive) is ridiculous. It smacks of the arrogance that assumes that modern man is the most advanced man that has ever existed and when confronted with evidence that men from the past could achieve feats modern man is incapable of matching, then surely, aliens from another planet must have shown man how to do those things. It truly makes me laugh.

  9. Your i5 4460 is a very good gaming CPU and will run Skyrim modded without issues. 8 GBs of RAM will also be fine.

The gt 720 is going to be a problem. I know you have 2 GB of vRAM and that helps with texture mods but a 720 is designed for "office use" not for gaming. Trust me, I just upgraded from a gt 635( which is roughly equal to your 720), to a gtx 970 oced and it is a whole world of difference. I recommend using LITE versions of texture mods or 1k where available and avoid 4k textures at all costs.

So, you're going to need to keep your settings on low, remove shadows and track down any mods that increase performance.

CTD's can be avoided by downloading, understanding and using a good mod manager, Loot and TES5Edit. Lots of great videos out there on using these and getting your load order down. If after getting them in the best order you can figure and cleaning all your mods, you are still having CTD's, you can come here with your load order and try to get some help.

Corrupt saves can be avoided by never adding mods during a play though. Wait until you are ready to start a new game before adding new mods or even taking away any you currently have installed.

"Save bloat" I am unaware of. I have had over 500 saves stored with no issues.

As far as a decline in your performance you can avoid that by using a temp file cleaning app such as CCleaner from piriform and defragging your HDD once a month or so. I use Defraggler also from Piriform.com, both are free and easy to use. Never defrag an SSD.

The way it is your PC should last for years and years. That said, it would increase your enjoyment by miles if you were to upgrade to a true gaming level graphics card and an accompanying PSU to power it, if as I suspect, your PC is an "off the shelf" rather than custom built.

NVIDIA uses a system that grades it's cards by series number. For example, your card is a 700 series; my old card was a 600 series; my new card is a 900 series. These numbers denote which "generation" a card is from... higher is newer. The second numbers of a card denote its performance level. 0-35 is low-end, not for 3D. 40-65 are mid range, or entry level gaming cards. 70+ are high quality gaming cards capable of High+ settings at 1080p with good FPS. As a side note, GT cards are low-end where as GTX are considered gaming cards.

So your 720, while a relatively newer card, has a very low performance level that is not actually made to render 3D video games. It will, if you do all you can to help it, and you will enjoy skyrim, no doubt... but if you want see skyrim the way it was intended, or even go beyond to the fantastic world that the hardworking modders here at Nexus have made available to us Skyrim lovers, then work yourself up a budget for a better GPU and a proper PSU to power it. A GTX 960 will blow your GT 720 right out of the water for around $200 USD which is a bargain beyond belief compared to just over a year ago.

  10. Thank you cd... There is, in fact, an update to TES5Edit since I installed it last. I was using version 3.0.34 and 3.1.0 has been released. Also, thanks for the clarification on how Loot actually works. Now, if I could just remember how to make the shortcut that nifty little icon that leads to the .exe instead of a folder that leads to the folder, I'd be golden. lol

  11. You can use the spoiler tag by clicking the 3rd icon to the right of your avatar after highlighting whatever you want inside the tag. It will say "Special BB Code" when you mouse over it. Right click it and then select Spoiler from the dropdown menu. Like this:

    Abracadabra/Hocus-Pocus

  12. Ok, I cleaned my mods weeks ago and all was well. I've added nothing since. I was making a thread asking for help with a mod, Banditry, that's not working, but while looking to make a copy of my load order I found Loot giving me a warning that EnhancedLightsandFX.esp has 12 ITMs and needs cleaning. I thought that was weird, but, w/e... and opened TES5Edit to clean them, only TES5Edit says 0 files cleaned. Oo

I tried it multiple times and both still say the same thing. My game plays fine aside from at least one mod not working, possibly more, but I think that's a load order thing.

    i5 4440 3.1GHz

    8GB RAM 1600

    MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

    Lenovo mobo

    WD Blue 7200 rpm 1TB (w/560gb used)

    Windows 8.1

It's the latest version and I have all DLC.

Anyone have any idea why this would be and if it will cause issues?

  13.

    Minimum Recommended specs are:

    Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
    4 GB RAM
    Windows 7
DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1 GB of RAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon HD 4890 or higher)
    Sound Card
    Free Disk Space: 6 GB
Having the game installed on an SSD drive also helps it run a bit more smoothly.
But you'll also want a decent monitor. Mine is 24", 16:10, but I run Skyrim in a 16:9 letterbox.
    ~

If you're running 2k or bigger textures and ENB you NEED 3GB of vRAM or more. I'm only running 50 or so mods and I'm pushing the 3.5GB on my 970 at 1080p.

Also, if you check the OP's list of games and think about Bethesda's hosting it's first ever conference at this year's E3 convention, then we(and everyone else) can only hope that they will be announcing another game that will be added to that list.

I think it will be safe to assume that any upcoming addition to the Fallout or TES series, and the subsequent mods for that title, will be best handled by an i5.

I have to agree that an SSD is the way to go, though I have not found it in my budget to upgrade to one, just yet....

  14. I`ve completed most of the quests in skyrim and it runs perfectly 60+fps on old hardware which i currently own at max settings at 1680x1050..

    Intel core 2 quad q9550 @ 3.4ghz

    Nvidia GTX 480

    4gb DDR3 ram @ 1066mhz

You really dont need the latest and greatest hardware to run this game , not sure about higher resolutions but at 1680x1050 it runs perfectly at max settings.

Dude.. that card is rare these days... the only one I can find new is a Zotac for $699 Oo

Ok you are going to want an i5 for sure, I have an i5 4440 which right now is available for $174

and you're going to want at least 3.5/4 GB of vRAM if you mod your game, which, since you are here on the Nexus, I'm going to assume you are. I have a MSI GTX 970 twin frozr 4 GB (or w/e) and it is spectacular and at $339 its quite a bit cheaper than that GTX 480. That said it's still pricey for your budget.

Was the best I could find close to your budget.
  15. Sounds like a load order issue or perhaps incompatible mods... Did you use Loot? Were there any messages? You may need to make a Bash patch if you have incompatible mods. Sometimes Loot loads things in the wrong order so you really need to read the notes from all your mods and make sure you follow the author's instructions.

  16.

Hey guys, I need some quick feedback on these questions I've got. This is for a project of mine and would really appreciate some answers. Thanks

    1. What features do you look for in a unique character?
    2. What do you think makes a character fail at being unique?
    3. Do you play Skyrim on PC/Mac?
    4. What is your opinion on overpowered content/characters?
    5. What is the first thought that comes into mind when I mention Breaking Lore?
    6. Would you purposely look for character packs for Skyrim and if so, have you got some already?
    7. (And if so...) What character packs have you got?
    8. What is your opinion on mature content?

    1. Well... inner conflict always makes for memorable characters, though pulling it off with an NPC will be tough but also rewarding.

    2. This question is worded in such a way as to make it very hard to answer. I'll take a stab at it anyway... A lack of imagination and the inability to "flesh out" a character's background. As the author of a character, you should know at least several paragraphs of a character's background, even if parts of that background never come to light within the scope of that character's role.

    3. PC

    4. Well, OP content can be frustrating and OP characters, if I'm assuming correctly that you are referring to NPC followers can make the game kinda boring.

    5. Dah Smexy

    6. Yes and yes.

    7. Right now I just have Interesting NPCs because I recently returned to playing Skyrim and was getting frustrated with adding mods and just wanted to play the game for a bit.

    8. I enjoy it. I don't really go for the over the top stuff, but I do really like mature outfits, body physics and skin textures. Eye replacements and what-not.

  17. Hey, returning to Skyrim after finally getting a good machine. I like my Skyrim sexy and I really want good looking/acting dragons. Honestly, I'm looking for the most kickass Skyrim I can get... I have the game and Dawnguard and will probably dl the newer DLC. Played through several times but with a gt 635.

    My rig:

    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1ghz
    RAM: 8GB

    1 TB hard drive

    Res: 1920 x 1080

    OS: Windows 8.1

I also am wondering if I should get rid of all the mods and junk I have now and clean install before I start my new modding?

  18. Far being any kind of expert, I will say this: conventional wisdom says to remove your most recent addition and see if conditions revert to the former state you had mentioned.

Not being anywhere near Deus Mons on the map should make no difference if this Mod is conflicting with one of your other Mods.

Then again, it could just be your Load Order.

  19. Thank you for this, Jason.

Can you please confirm that this file goes in Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Skyrim?

    Or just Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim...
