Ozmo's Hi Res Skin Textures: A step by step guide!
covert7 replied to Talonvore's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I'm having the same issue. Omod's created and activated with no issues but when I go to setup a new game, the faces are all the same. The bodies are using the correct stuff because if I remove the clothes of the new created character, they're using whatever I specified in HGEC. I also have my Oblivion installed in a non-standard location so UAC shouldn't be the issue. Weird and frustrating... -
Use OBMM to install just one mod then switch to NMM?
covert7 posted a topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Not sure if I should post this in this forum or in an NMM specific one but here goes: So I'd like to install the Darnified UI, but I'm trying to use NMM to handle all my mods. Well currently as I understand it, Darnified uses a script not supported by NMM. Does anyone know if it would be possible for me to use OBMM to just install Darnified and then flip back to using NMM to handle the rest of my mods? Or is it "one or the other" choice? Thanks for any advice you may have! -
Not understanding why texture/skin replacers not working
covert7 replied to covert7's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Thanks for the replies so far guys! As for your question Drake, NMM comes with a built in archive invalidation option/utility. It's basically a toggle in the program you check to turn on AI. I think I'll check on the dates as you and Striker mention next and see what that looks like.... -
Hi folks, I've been digging through the forum for some time trying to track down an answer to my problem but I'm just not turning up anything solid. I was hoping some of you more grizzled veterans wouldn't mind advising me here. So basically, I have the GOTY edition installed from Steam on my Win7 64 bit box. Stock game starts up just fine. But of course we want to make the stock game better so I have used this post by Harvald as a starting point on my road to mods. I'll jot down what I've installed below for you: I have installed the three UOP's (oblivion/SI/official mods). I've installed HGEC Body with BBB v1dot12; Coronerras Maximum Compatibility Skeletons; High Rez Skin Textures for HGEC; NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer. I'm fairly certain they all installed properly as well since in my Data folder, I see all the texture/mesh files and stuff that should be there. Those are all the "mods" I've got installed so far. My problem is that when I load the game and choose "New Game" (since I don't have any previous saves), I do not see all these new & improved skins/textures. It's just the plain ol' stock characters. So can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong and why all the new art files aren't showing up please? One other thing that might make a difference is that I'm using NMM to handle the mods. It successfully activated HGEC, Coronerras, & NoMaaM (or at least acts like it since it doesn't throw up any errors). The High rez skin textures are of course installed by their own InstallTool executable. And I do have "Archive Invalidation" turned on. Well I think that should provide most of the info I think might be pertinent. So any help from you experts out there would be greatly appreciated!

Those will effect all NPCs along with the player character. True Body Shapes allows you to use different assets for the player character than the NPCs, though it's still a work in progress. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!

Noob question for the experienced out there: Mods like HGEC Body,Compatibility Skeleton, the skin textures, etc; by installing these mods, do they change the look/performance of all NPC's in the game? Or is it something that only affects the player character?

Excellent news! I'm very excited to get back to some Oblivion adventures! By any chance, does anyone know if there are any issues with this tool and the Steam version of Oblivion? -
Keeping it simple for now. Which overhaul?
covert7 replied to covert7's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Thanks for the thoughts guys! I think I'd really like to try and get the MMM+OOO thing working so I may try and bite into that for a bit later. For now though I got OOO working with just a couple of smaller mods and just want to play a bit. I'm sure I'll be back later asking for assistance on that one! :) Thanks again!! -
Ok so a few weeks back I decided to get back into Oblivion and came here looking for some info on mods to improve the game. Feeling a bit ambitious I attempted to do FCOM. Even after some great help from TomLong, I was ultimately not successful in getting that one working. Just a bit too over my head. So now that I'm back with a bit of free time I wanted to get some opinions on which overhaul I could setup that is pretty damn simple yet really enhances the game. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions!

Damn. Ok I'll get on that. By the way, you don't know if being a 64bit OS will cause trouble with some of these Python programs do you? Thanks again for your patience!! Not at all. Uninstalled and about to reboot but I have yet MORE questions... :P (tell me to shove off at any point!) After installing the game into a non-default location, do I need to reinstall each of the items on your "Preparing for Mods" page? Or they're fine still? And the BOSS Master List Manager is a Word macro thing. What if I don't have Word installed on my machine? I can edit the document in my Google docs of course but will not having Word on this machine keep this item from working? -

Yeah I just reinstalled the pre-reqs just to be sure and went and made sure their folders had Full Security access to run as I'm on Win7 and thought that might have something to do with it. Speaking of which the default directory for my Oblivion game is C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion Make any difference? -

Not sure if you're still around reading Tom, but if so I have a quick question. When I got to launch Wrye Bash for the first time, it's not actually doing anything. No launching, nothing. Thoughts? I'm beginning a google search now on this. -

Ok I see now. Well since you suggest this as the best mod-using environment I'm going to go ahead and get it all up and working as you've laid it out. Might as well start with a great foundation. Thanks again for all the effort you put into this documentation! -

But I should follow all 14 steps on your "Preparing for Mods" page in order to get FCOM itself running correct? -

Thanks for the quick reply Tom and thank you as well for an awesome guide on all this jazz. One more quick question before I get to work on it: I understand it's fairly easy to blow up your installation of Oblivion while working with this beast. What should I backup in order to do a quick restore back to "vanilla" in the event of a major mistake? Is it as simple as one or two folders? NM. Just found this info on the "Preparing for Mods" page. I'm gonna just shut my yapper and get to reading. :P -
So it's been a long long time since I played Oblivion and now I'm ready to hop back in. So I've got the game (GoTY edition) installed cleanly now. In doing some reading, I've decided I'm going ambitious and want to install FCOM. Found this awesome guide (http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide/requiredownloads) and I have a quick question. I'm at a part where I have a choice on installation method it seems. Going BAIN or OMODS. Which route should I take good folks? Thanks for the advice!!
