  1. I'm not letting this go, by the way. At the very, very end of this thread is going to be a delighted post from me stating that problem is solved and detailing how I fixed it, unlike every single other thread or question on this issue that exists. I AM going to get there, no matter what. Now, let me just restate my questions: When a custom texture is added to the folder, are different settings or lighting applied to the object in any way within the system or rendering software? IN ANY WAY AT ALL WHATSOEVER? Is this AT ALL a possibility?Look at the picture I posted earlier and notice how the seam seems directly tied to light and shading (IMO, at least). What specific thing(s) or texture file component(s) or setting(s) does it look like might possibly be considered suspect?Does one's computer remember game engine or rendering software settings or whatever after the program/game itself has been uninstalled? I KNOW that records of Skyrim or that mention Skyrim hang around the registry after the game itself is long gone, so......?Could something be wrong with my GPU? I have updated my drivers recently.....
  2. Well, first off, I guess I'll repeat myself for good measure; this isn't a problem with my save file. It's a problem with my game, period. (or system, or graphics, or gah!) The problem persists when starting a new game on a new installation, so save file cleaners don't do squat :/ @velve666 Thank you, and I wish it were a viable option, but the thing is, this isn't a a problem that can be solved just by changing textures. No matter what textures I use, even ones meant to be used together without any seams, this happens. Which is making me think something is wrong with lighting/shaders/rendering/other texture maps/ etc. Because the head/body difference and seam almost disappear under the exact right lighting (generally low and sun-less). But at the same time, the textures themselves look weird when I stick them under a light where the discrepancy is visible. I mean...my character's face looks all...shiny? Gritty? I dunno, but that's supposed to be the default Skyrim texture. There ain't any others in the data folder. And it's okay to post an answer, y'know; I'm not a toxic mess. Everyone has their moments when they snap. I'm sorry.
  3. I apologize for my sternness, but I'm past the end of my rope, and when people's replies showcase the fact that they didn't even bother to really read through the problem, my patience wears even thinner. But you're right; I really should be kinder. People are only responding with the best intentions. Sorry to everyone :/ Honestly, I don't know what else to do. There has GOT to be something wrong with tint masks or shaders or even my dadgum GPU....I dunno. I'm this close to just reformatting my whole system. Which would be a monstrous pain and take days to set up again, and I have a job in the meantime. Maybe I should just put forward more direct, process-of-elimination questions to people that might help me solve this through logic. I guess it's unfair to just cry "wolves! help!" and expect everyone to go hunt them down and save me while I sit twiddling my thumbs with the sheep. So, these might be seriously noob questions, but to start with: When a custom texture is added to the folder, are different settings or lighting applied to the object in any way within the system or rendering software? Feel free to ask for clarification if I'm being toovague...
  4. I really do appreciate your interest in trying to help. But before responding, please actually read my posts. Thank you. I'm sorry, but I don't have the energy or patience to reiterate what I've already said, and quite frankly I shouldn't have to.
  5. Bump Please, I don't know what else to do. I'm absolutely dumbfounded.
  6. Yes, absolutely 100% positive. I played the game for about a month on this computer before this happened anyway. I suppose I could try unpacking the textures, even though that didn't work last time, but honestly it's looking more like a shading issue....
  7. Alright, so, here's a picture. Please note: This is at Helgen after starting a brand new game, if that wasn't painfully obvious.I had this exact same problem on my old computer after installing and uninstalling the exact same mods. My old GPU was AMD. My current one is Nvidia. My current computer is a gaming rig. Settings are on high +.This happens no matter what body/face mods I install, even ones that are meant to match with no neck seams. What DID NOT solve the problem: A brand new game on a fresh re-install with no mods whatsoever (not even SKSE), re-installation of steam, verifying file integrity, updating graphics drivers, removing old graphics drivers, cleaning out all and every mentions of mods from my system including NMM and it's files and records, installing the official hi-res texture pack, changing shadow settings in the .inis, changing all sorts of graphical settings, screaming and crying in frustration. No, I did not have this problem before. Until I played around with Beauty Faces or Females and Xenius' Detailed Faces and Detailed bodies mods.I eventually gave up.I'm not giving up now. Don't even think about telling me to. Don't tell it's impossible either because here it is, so obviously it isn't.If you're feeling completely confused, that's normal, meaning you obviously don't know the answer off the top of your head so don't just give me a half-ass response.
  8. This is an old thread, and I'm just now coming back to it after re-experiencing this problem on a completely new computer. I gave up on my last one. @KausXP So.....you SOLVED this nightmare? So are all those four pictures just from before the problem was solved? Because that pretty much looks like my problem. I didn't even have the official HD pack, I installed it and followed your own steps, but....nothing. Maybe I'll try again. Still, if you really did fix it....then I have hope!!! T_T
  9. I know it's impossible, which is why I'm so completely, utterly, infuriatingly baffled. And I'm not the only one who's had this issue, as shown in the links provided. I'll try it again, but after having completely removed Skyrim and all mods from my old computer (and reinstalling Steam for good measure) and still having the problem on a fresh vanilla install with file integrity verified, I'm not so sure. Ugh...how do a put a picture in a post? I need to show the problem I'm talking about on my end.
  10. Thanks, but I did that awhile ago. Several times. That should be obvious from me saying that the problem persisted with a clean re-install.
  11. About a year ago I had to quit playing Skyrim because of the strangest, most infuriating problem in existence (as far as I'm concerned -_-) which can be read up on here, if you're so interested: http://skyrimforums.org/sf/threads/character-discoloring-even-after-clean-install.21828/ http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/959559-character-discoloring-even-after-clean-install/#entry7743174 If you're not so interested, here's basically what happened: I installed a face texture mod, and it broke everything. Permanently. Yes, I’m aware that makes absolutely zero sense. But it created a bizarre face/body difference problem that persisted even after uninstalled the textures. After uninstalling every mod and the whole damn game, too. The problem persisted on a new save with a completely clean re-install; no mods whatsoever. Granted, I was also playing on a sub-par computer with a horrifically awful GPU. The poor thing eventually gave out a while after that and could barely work at all. So fast-forward to now, where I have a brand spanking new gaming rig. Beautiful machine. Nice NVidia graphics card. I'm FINALLY able to reinstall Skyrim, and almost weep for joy when I can play on high graphical settings with no weird unexplainable face/body discrepancies. I manage to set up mods for my old save and the problem had, of course, vanished from there too. So I concluded that the whole mess had been due to the overused, overburdened AMD graphics system on my old laptop. I played happily for a month with no problems that I couldn’t find a fix to. Then yesterday, I decided to play around with body and face texture mods, which I had not yet even touched on this new computer. And guess which completely mysterious, unexplained, unsolvable problem decided to return? Hahahaha :D (eye twitch) Interestingly, it was after installing the exact same mods; Beauty Faces for females, followed by Detailed Faces by Xenius instead. Just to check, I did uninstall all mods altering faces, bodies, scars, eyes, and skin, cleared out the respective files in the texture folder, and fired up a new game. Aaand this: (.....um, the picture didn't work. How do I attach pics? ^^') I have several other pictures, but I don't want to sift through them all and cram a bunch into one post. But the female facial texture just looks....weird. Or maybe it's the body? I don't think so, though. Ugh. I managed to find a number of threads and discussions about this or similar issues (that don't disappear after a clean reinstall), but they all die off without any answers or ideas: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/497786-another-facial-discoloration-issue/ http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/829494-facebody-colours-mismatching-problem/ http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1350967-greydiscolored-faces/ http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/473447-face-and-body-color-mismatch/ A clean, modless reinstall of the game showcases the same problem. System restores, driver updates, and registry cleaning doesn't fix it either. This is frustrating and mind-boggling beyond belief and I have zero clue what to do at this point. This shouldn't even be possible. I need serious, pro help, and I need it soon. I'm exhausted...
  12. I have this exact problem, down to a tee. Except, I narrowed it down to one mod; with Climates of Tamriel installed, the problem persists, and as soon as I uninstall it, the map is back to normal again.
