  1. Please, don't misunderstand. I'm not saying I want this in any way. I have absolutely zero interest in either creating or using a mod that makes this possible. All I'm saying is that it at first glance, it looks like both games are subtly being guided in this direction in small ways, like how in TES lore, it's said that you have to drink sap to commune with Hist and in FO3, you do exactly the same thing before talking to Harold at Oasis. I don't like the concept of combining the two, but that doesn't mean it's not worth talking about at the very least, if not just to put the theory to bed for good.
  2. I'm just really starting to work through the details, but Fallout's Earth and Skyrim's Nirn being the same planet might be more possible than you think. It's rough, early speculation, but I can even account for the second moon being present in Skyrim. Involves a debunked real-life conspiracy theory, but all things considered, it'd the beginning of working out the plot holes. The theory I mentioned. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nibiru_cataclysm I'm sure a lot of us have tripped over this at some point, but the short version of the theory is that right now, there's a planet on a massive elliptical orbit with our sun that only passes through the solar system every 3600 years or so. This planet (often referred to as either Niburu or Planet X) is also said to be the possible home world of the Anunnaki, an alien race with connections to Earth and humanity dating back as far as ancient Egypt. In addition, theorists claimed that when Planet X did finally arrive, it could potentially wreak such havok on gravitational fields that the Earth's poles would shift, effectively turning the Earth on it's head. I know, I know, but bear with me. Masser wasn't on Dwemer solar system models. They didn't know it existed because it hadn't arrived yet. Given, I've only been mulling over this for little more than a day, but right now, here's the short of what could be possible. Masser is Niburu, stabilized in Earth orbit via technological means for whatever reason. Would account for it's presence in Skyrim and the drastic difference between the surfaces of the Earth and Nirn. Could also be why Vault Tech was so invested in carrying out such complex psychological experiments in preparation to leave the planet. They might have known it was coming. Anunnaki are Skyrim's Daedra and assorted god-like figures. Racial Diversity in Skyrim = Cross breeding / Fallout-era experiments Imperials = Direct descendants of genetically sound vault dwellers. Dwemer = Descendants of either Brotherhood of Steel or advanced Institute synth gens. Both are viable. The folding of Nirn = Pole Shift Deathclaws = Pre-wing Mutation Dragons. Higher brain function was achieved in a group of deathclaws via the Enclave, although they were all but wiped out. Can't remember, but I think one may have survived. Regardless, wouldn't be a stretch to account for their presence this way. ...and so on. But really, who knows for sure. Just a thought.

  4. Never side-by-sided the screen shots. Couldn't agree more. Just seeing 3 again made me smile. Really do miss the feel of it so much now that I see it against 4. Imo, instead of trying to get blood from a stone, rebuild 3 in the newer engine. We can all just mod that again but with greater flexibility. You can enb and retexture 4 to hell and back. It'll never feel as lonely and desolate as 3.

Wow... it's almost like he.. ya know.. grew up? not downplaying the mod request, but.. like.. people change when they grow up, I doubt he'd have lasted long in the 'mungo world' if he kept his attitude and never matured. Maybe you're right. I'm 34, married, still modding video games in my spare time and for the most part, a complete bastard. What do I know. I can tell you one thing I'm damn sure of though; people generally don't get nicer as they age. Not without chemical assistance. Still though, it's not like the wasteland is anything but accommodating to hard hearted people. That mean little s#*! from LL probably would have been the one personal able to survive long enough to find the Lone Wanderer's old hideout and stash.

  8. I've spent so, so many hours in F03Edit and from what I can see, F04Edit is next to identical, but I'm not nearly confident enough in my GECK skills to take this on. I wish I was, but I'm just not there yet. I've got all the time in the world, every program you could ask for and respectable rig to run them on, but still too many holes in my knowledge to apply for this. Still, your work is wonderful and very much appreciated. I have no doubt you'll find someone in no time.

  10. You'd think at the very least he'd have a beard like The Thing's Mac, but I hear you. FO3 RJ would have shot you in the face in a heartbeat if you farted too hard at the LL gate. Had no problem explaining that to you ad nauseum, too. Never got that vibe from the older iteration. btw, selling Bumble into slavery for a shitty hat and going back into Little Lamplight with a flamer? Worse than anything I've done in F04 to date. Given, it took a mod to make happen, but imo; Worth it.

  12. I posted this over in Mod Talk, but I somehow think it'll get more exposure here. I'd like to get rolling on this, so pardon posting on two boards. Really wanted to toss this around with you folks, spitball some ideas before I start, but this is happening. Have a few ideas on how to get over the logical hurdles, but more than anything, I'd love to hear your opinions and I'm open to whatever. Right now, the idea is to build a sort of Synthish/Homemade robotic variation of myself to be used as a follower. Sketches I've been messing with come off more like something someone from the in-game era would build of out of busted synths and spare parts in their spare time. Facts are facts, and in FO4, it's 2277 and we're all dead. The only way that one of us could exist in this game without making waves with the story or immersion is either as a ghoul, Super Mutant, Robobrain or consciousness injected into a Synth a la Nick Valentine. Considering the options and my ego, I'm going homebrew synth. Plus, it opens up some fun creative options and really, a robotic variation of myself walking around with me in-game, pissed off that I'm in a shitty robotic body, carrying my real-life Remington 870 Express and wearing my clothes, well that's just hilarious to me. And since I have no intention of voice acting a damn thing because it'll be awful, using one of two viable alternatives. One option is to build all the audio out of movie and music clips a la Bumblebee, but it's been done a la Bumblebee. Plus, that'll be work. A lot of work.   14. My fault for taking so long getting back to you. Was in the middle of learning the programs when one of my SSDs bought the farm. Finally back up and running, everything reinstalled. Nothing completed in SP or SD worth showing right now since I'm still learning it, but I had early success with some experiments I ran while re-texturing Dogmeat. Custom painted iris diffuse, applied it with appropriate maps, but I was pushing for something more when the drive tanked. Illustration major a very long time ago. There was talk on DA of an older model floating around on the free section of Renderosity, but the link led me to the main Free Stuff page and a search there yielded nada.   17. Finding detailed images is no problem and using PS to isolate the ink itself isn't too too bad. Integrating it into the game though, if you've never dabbled, it's a can of worms. If you're feeling overwhelmed and aren't getting much for responses, I recommend downloading one of the larger tattoo mods and making a go at reverse engineering it. If it's for personal use, might just be able to modify one of those.
  18. I'm all about overhauling the synths and I'm definitely going to attempt it at some point, but I've been messing with some ideas on player cybernetics. Namely limb and eye replacements. Found some xna render in line with what I've got in mind just to save an explanation, although I'd like to attempt individual limbs like these on player models before anything. http://fav.me/d916vk3 Maybe it'll get the idea machine running.
  19. Nice model, no doubt, but that thing is looking kind of poly heavy. Definitely can get away with a lighter model and still go nanners building gear and armor sets, I promise you. Either way, I went to school for Illustration and I'm getting pretty comfortable with C4D and Substance Painter 2 as of late, so once you get the specifics down, toss me a message and we'll see what's what. It's all I do anymore anyway.   20. Been working on a heavy duty Dogmeat overhaul mod that's been eating most of my time up, so I figured hey, why not make it even more complicated. Few days ago, decided that since I'd never seen it actually functioning properly in a video game before, figuring out how to make my Dogmeat's eyes do this: http://i68.tinypic.com/5n5bax.jpg (aka tapetum lucidum) under the appropriate circumstances was worth putting everything else on hold for. Again, never seen it done in a game before. Not well enough to remember, anyway. Been up like 30 something hours working nonstop on one thing or another as of this post, but I finally got the mechanic working in Substance Painter 2. Bout lost my mind when I did it, too. Took the cornea lense off so you could see the mechanism disk proc over the pupil, but I haven't hooked up the final effect yet. I'll get some pics up of it functioning proper once I do.   21. There's a fairly high chance that you speak English better than I speak whatever your native language is, so kudos for my even being able to understand what you're saying. As for the Alchemia Station, I feel like no matter what, this is going to wind up looking like a meth lab and that makes me chuckle. Still, no matter how I envision it, it always seems to fit perfectly with the post-war Sanctuary home interior aesthetic. Kinda seems worth it. Let me think about where to find chemistry assets, because I really, really don't want to build all that from scratch.
  22. lol, no worries on the rant. We're in full agreement on a lot more than you might realize. I'm right there with you. Was working on a mod recently and my wife wanted to see the intro to the game. (modded Fallout 3 for her last summer and she actually beat it) Anyway, I ran through it and she was pretty unhappy considering she'd come to love 3 so much. We had a good long talk about all of this, the limitations of modding and what, if anything, I could do about it. It's actually what brought me to the forums steadily after being on the nexus for years and years and never saying a word. I guess to push the idea and vent simultaneously.
