Sounds like a pretty Solid Idea and I'm more than willing to help with any Voicework.

So I'll give you the rundown. I am looking to create a game in which you can do whatever you want to do. We are still bouncing ideas around for setting and story, but we seem to be leaning toward medieval fantasy or a Online game about today, and the choices you make can really change the "ending" of the game. For example, what if a player became president of the United States and instead of focusing on politics and religion focused on clean energy and research projects for space travel? Yet on the other hand another player starts some huge war or something. Then all the other players playing can choose to follow or not to follow, they might not even care. The same goes for the medieval game. I would really want to capture the open world design. This is kind of an untapped market. Hopefully we can attend to it. But from the looks of it I am really leaning on the Medieval side. We will be calling it Nature of Humanity. I'm thinking about a Alpha version of the game middle to late winter hopefully this year or 2018. More then likely I think the RPG route will be best for this. All that being said I'd like to put together a team of creators to help accomplish this. What I'm looking for are: Modelers Animators Music/Sound Voice acting Engine (Unity/Unreal/Custom?) World space artists (Interiors and exteriors) UI Designers Texture artists Web page Advertising/Social Media Concept Artists Something I really want to stress here is that we only use assets we have made. I know here on the nexus we are pretty good about asset use and permissions but for this project it must be built from scratch, no asking for permissions to use others assets. That being said, we should try our best to make the game feel as real as possible. Graphics are a big one for many players as well as a stable 60 FPS. This is something I would like for us to eventually release on multiple platforms for a large audience to enjoy. If you feel you are up to the task you can email me at [email protected] with a portfolio or work collection. Keep in mind this is a project with no monetary gain. Thank you for reading the long post. -Emma [email protected]

I have hit a bit of a road block on the gun... I'm not sure how the weapon cycles so I don't know how to added any detail that needs to be there.

Well here is what I have so far, only been like 20 or 30 mins so I should have this done within the day. Edit: Added a crude texture to barrel, added detail, some rescaling.

Idea for a Scrap melee weapon

Bump? Do not bump threads, the rules are clear on this. -Jim_UK -
I can model, been going to school as a Game Designer so, yeah hit me up.

Well, idk if this is true for blender... In Maya, when I use an alpha channel, I then use a paint brush in the maya and go over things with black paint. This is a common technique for doing shadowing on static objects with BMP textures. Try looking up how to do those shadows on google/youtube. I think it would be the best way to get the type of texturing you're looking for.
-
The best way to go about this would be using alpha channels and such on your textures, Changing texture opacity and color then binding those new textures to the models you want to use them on and figure a way to activate those textures in the game via some type of command.

Idea for a Scrap melee weapon
Hotemochick1992 replied to Hotemochick1992's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
Okay so this is long over due, I have the models Textured. So next step would be getting it from maya to Blender so an animator can work with it then get it into Fallout... So who's game? -

I'd like to do more of these style of weapons, I may just have to try and texture them myself. -

So I had this idea about a sword mod, so I created the model and really like the way it turned out. Here's where I need some help, I need someone to texture this thing. The biggest reason I made this is because there is a huge lack of melee weapons in FO4, and none of them really speak to me as really cool or unique. For sword there's only like 3 that Bethesda made and I don't really care for mods that are not very lore friendly... That being said here's my design of a lore friendly sword mod. Baseball bats are pretty common in the commonwealth so why not start with that as a base for the weapon, well I did. Here's where it gets cool, from a workbench you add a wooden blade to the bat (shown below) for some added fun. Creating a sharp object from a blunt one (might be to hard to do from a scripting standpoint but it's a cool idea). From there, you can add some circular saw blades that are embedded into the wooden blade to give it a meaner and more nasty bite. Because of the length, this would be a 2-handed weapon like a sledge hammer/board weapon. What really sets the tone of the weapon is the lag bolts used to hold it all together, instead of huge chain that would be really impractical and probably just fall about in a few hits. This is built to last and survive the wasteland. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h407/JinxStudiosTCG/Scrap%20Claymore_zpshq7grczq.jpg So all that and you're still reading so I'll assume you like my idea! So here's what I would like to see for texturing. 1) A wooden blade and bat, rusted metal nuts and bolts. 2) A wooden blade and a metal bat, rusted metal nuts and bolts. 3) A wooden blade and bat, rusted metal nuts, bolts a saw blades. 4) A wooden blade and a metal bat, rusted metal nuts, bolts and saw blades.

Hey all, after playing through fallout I was kind of disappointed to not get the Alien rifle so, I'm making one! Here's what I have so far Let me know what you all think. I'll keep posting pictures as I progress through the model. I will also add some craftable attachments and what not.

You can ask for help before you start asking for money... In fact you probably should ask for help before you ask for money. The problem with taking peoples money for anything is that there is a commitment involved. Either you produce results or you get branded with something that will follow you for any future projects. At the early stages of a project, even a well planned, well researched project that you care deeply about; things can go horribly wrong making parts of your plans impossible or greatly delaying when things get done. Meanwhile you risk hostility from your backers because you have to change or delay something. This is why it is so critical to have working proofs of concept already built and a workable demo available. It will not only tell you exactly what can be done within the engine and your own skills, but also help you get an idea of the amount of time spent working and tweaking those things. With a team of any size, just managing the team, communicating, and preparing builds for distributing can take a good deal of time. Even more so when you start accepting random people since they often lose interest, forget to do the work, or just lose contact for months at a time. So basically you are saying it would be the best course to cancel the kickstarter, then work on the game until I have at least built enough of the game to present a gameplay trailer or 2, along with some other visuals?

I can see what you mean. I will be doing weekly updates to show what is being done each week. Also I'm not really trying to promote the kick starter, really I'm just looking for help.

I know its kind of a fan boy think whether you go intel vs amd but hears the deal, yes intel with do what you want it but your really dont want to OC an intel chip set mostly because of the cost. Yes AMD is the cheaper alternative, but honestly they are just as good FOR GAMING as an intel chip purely for OC purposes. With the big price difference you can splurge more on a nice GPU and the Asus Crossfire formula V is a great board. I'm actually currently using a formula V with a AMD 8-core (AM3+ Socket) and it doesn't matter what I'm running the core runs nice and cool.

Hey guys, Its been a long time since I have been on the nexus. So to those who know me, I'm back baby! For those who don't know me, hello :) So I have been in school for awhile for a game design course and graduated with an BSA but I got a degree from the wrong school... Now i can't get into the game industry without going to another school or getting out there on my own, but here's the deal. I need help with making my game. Now I have started up a kickstarter but it hasn't been approved as of yet (Takes some time for approval.) Now I know what engine I will be using (Unreal since they have a free version for use) but I need help with some other aspects. Models, Music & Sounds, Worldspace, and lastly voices. So if you are will to help little old me out, I'd really appreciate it and of course you will be credited for your work! All that being said, if the game goes according to plan, anyone who helps gets access to the game upon any releases (e.i alpha, beta and full version) All that being said, here is the link to my kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/444249627/535965473?token=7eb0a8db My BF typed it up and all that for me so all the info is there but I will give you all an idea of what I'm looking to create. I'm looking to make a post Zombie-Apocalypse (I know its been done before but not very well) that really captures the essence of survival and fortification. I would like to have a very complex crafting system withing the game as well as a very large amount of weapons, because lets face it when i don't have a weapon and i see a static shovel or candle holder lying about i get really annoyed that i can wield that as a weapon. The biggest thing to me is scale of the world and multiplayer. I really want to see the players create their own campaign. The player should be able to choice to join a group of survivors or be a lone wolf. To either law sedge to a fortified town or help fortify it even more. Also, being that The game will be using Unreal for an engine, Zombie models should be dismember-able (legs, arms, and heads and be forcibly removed from the body) usually due to some kind of melee weapon or head shots. anyways if you are interested please shot me a PM and i can give you some more information and what I'm expecting on how to pace the project in development.
