I'm running stock clock speeds, so I don't think it's that. Morpological Filtering is off atm, may experiment with it either way.
-
Hmm, was already off on mine. Tried turning it back on to see what would happen, but no change. Thanks for the input, tho.

I had the occasional texture glitch in FO3 (and I think that was on an old Nvidia machine), but usually only if I installed a mod wrong. This is happening to vanilla textures in FO4, even after reinstalling. I'll try to remember to update this if a driver/game patch fixes it.
-
Yeah, from what I've gathered elsewhere, it appears to be driver related. I may do a rollback, and I'll keep an eye out for updates.

Currently 11, not counting Fallout4.esm and the DLC plugins. The only texture replacer I have in is No Holotape Tease (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6731/?). EDIT: Fixed the old laptop specs in my signature.

After about an hour of play, I start seeing weird corrupted textures in Fallout 4. It's never the same items/objects, and sometimes it doesn't show up at all. It seems to be affected by distance, and sometimes fades when I zoom in with a weapon. A quick restart will usually get rid of the corruption, but it still comes back after a while. Here's a gallery of some samples - http://imgur.com/a/7FQzo I've also seen bushes and tree leaves freak out in a similar way- appearing blocky (or not at all) from a distance, then looking fine up close. You can see a few of those bushes in the fourth screenshot - they look like nasty blobs of tar. I've been chasing this bug for a while, since Automatron released. Tried removing various mods, but I don't have anything in that I suspect of messing with textures. Have tried manually deleting my FO4 directory and reinstalling from Steam. My R9-380's drivers are up to date, and my temps are fine. Ran a test of system memory, and found no errors. Haven't seen anything quite like this in any other games. Basic system info: Windows 10 AMD FX-6300 R9-380 4G 8GB system RAM Anyone else seen this? Anyone managed to find a solid fix?

This wasn't on the forums, this was on the game sites (am already using the dark theme on forums, btw). But the problem seems to have gone away- I can see the proper background for the Skyrim site now. Dunno what I (or my computer) did.
-
So I've started playing Fallout 3 and Skyrim again recently, and naturally that's brought me back here. But the site hasn't been so easy on my eyes lately, as I've been experiencing a strange error... well, best to just show it: http://i.imgur.com/aTv7vlZl.jpg I'm pretty sure the site's backdrop isn't supposed to be a painful glaring white. This happens on the Skyrim and Fallout 3 pages, as well as other Nexus pages. Sometimes, I'll see the proper background while the site is loading, but once the site finishes, it goes white again. Oddly, this only happens in Firefox, and only on my laptop- if I use Chrome on the lappy, its fine, and using Firefox on a different computer, it looks fine as well. I've tried running Firefox in safe mode (which disables all add-ons), and I've cleared my cache and offline website data. Nothing seems to fix this.

DDoS season begins, sites a little bit unstable
Zephyr102 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Easy to forget it's summer break at my age, especially when taking summer college courses. Never could figure out what would inspire someone to target perfectly good independent websites and projects (like the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod a while back) with DDoS attacks. Little pricks really need a hobby... like modding or playing Skyrim, or blowing their (parent's?) money on the Steam summer sale. Quit messing up other people's days to have fun, maybe try making the world a NICER place for a change, or at least leave it alone. Ugh. An interesting thing you noted about botnets and insecure systems, tho; when I think DDoS, I usually just think hordes of LulzSec/Anon/etc timing their pings right. Has me tempted to upgrade Avast! (the free version is antivirus and surf protection, with no firewall) or try something else. Never was sure if the Windows 7 firewall was sufficient. -
Seems I'm not the only one with issues today. My game was doing fine yesterday til I tried some localized defragging of my Skyrim installation last night. Today, tho, it kept getting hung up on load screens, unless I alt-tabbed out and back in, which seemed to get it to finish loading. Oddly, when I tried to go into Dragonsreach to test the issue, it DID make an autosave, even tho I ctrl-alt-delete'ed before the load screen went away. When I saw this, I deleted AQWM, and the game launched fine. Reinstalled AQWM on a hunch, and... it launched fine again. Best I can guess is, my partial defrag corrupted some files, and the game hung up when trying to load them. So yeah, try reinstalling those big texture files. They may have gotten messed up somehow.

Blog piece: Ads, Supporters, Endorsements and Bandwidth Throttling
Zephyr102 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Guessin these site skin ads aren't implemented yet, since I don't see a way to turn them on. And yes, I mean 'on'- I'd love to throw some money at the Nexus in return for all the happy Bethesda modding it's provided over the years, but I'd need some money to throw first. In the meantime, definitely disabling AdBlock for the Nexus. Will keep an eye out for the endorsement thing too- the 'abstain from endorsing' thing is an interesting idea. And moar bandwidth is like moar bacon- ALWAYS a good thing. -
I went thru the Book of Love quest line recently, since it seemed a more interesting way to attain the Amulet of Mara needed for marriage; from what I've read, it should work the same as any other Amulet of Mara. I go to Shahvee (the only lady Argonian in the game available to my reptilian main man) hoping she'll finally offer me the quest I've read about, but she doesn't give the dialogue option for the quest. There are supposed to be two conversation options, but only one appears, and its just some chat about her life in Windhelm (which I intend to get her far away from). If this is a bug, anyone know a fix or work-around? And if I missed something, can anyone tell me what it is? I'd like a lady-lizard for Zeph'r to come home to after a hard quest's work!

A recent 'oops' found me refreshing my laptop to factory stock, which means reinstalling all my games from scratch, including Oblivion (waiting for Christmas and maybe a GOTY Edition before I move up to Skyrim). I'm having trouble finding my (legit) copies of the official DLC (Horse armor, Orrery, Wiz Tower, etc) on my old comp's hard drive. So I went to Bethesda's site thinkin' I could just re-download that which I've already purchased... but all I find is links to the xBox store. Anyone know where I can find official distributions of the PC versions of Oblivion's DLC? Will still be hunting down the files on my vast, messy ol' desktop, but would still like to know if they're available to re-download from an official source. EDIT: Found the BSAs and ESPs in my old desktop's Oblivion directory. Still can't find the installers... coulda sworn they came as .exe's..

DarnUI- Can't get past this screen
Zephyr102 replied to Zephyr102's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Wow, been a while since I've been on this site, or since I've even played a Beth game. I even have a fresh new laptop, complete with FO3 and Oblivion installs, but I haven't bothered fiddling with mods too much, cuz it's a school machine. After the news about TESO, I came back just to try my hand again at finally finishing the main story (or stories- GOTY editions FTW) of Morrowind, but now I may try to tweak out FO3 again just to try and answer the questions here. One solution I remember from my last computer is to install FO3 (and Oblivion for that matter) outside the Program Files (x86) directory. I have a few Gamebryo-based Beth games, and they all go in C:/Bethesda Softworks/Game Name Here/. They seem to play nicer with Windows 7 when I do this; think its something to do with UAC, even tho I have it completely switched off. As for the OMOD thing, it has a button somewhere (been a while, sorry) to turn off Archive Invalidation. Not even gonna get into that right now, but let's just say you DEFINITELY want it off if you want to use any mod with custom content (any mod that isnt just an .esp or .esm, in other words). Hope this helps. If anyone can be a bit more clear, PLEASE help the above folks out. -
Heh, figures- when browsing the Nexus for mods, I forgot to try searching the word 'needs.' Ironic, since the survival mod I use for FO3 is called (*insert unintentional but fully-earned mod plug here*) Imp's More Complex NEEDS. This looks promising, will give it a shot; was gonna look at separate mods I'd seen for each need, but having them all integrated removes any worries about conflicts.
